Hi there! My name is Dedie Authement & I am the photographer at Dedie Marie Photography. I am a college graduate who started this business while attending college. I have always loved photography, and so what started as a simple hobby has turned into a business. I still have a long road ahead of me and a lot of work also, but It is so far very gratifying. I get to be apart of some very special moments for my friends and clients. It makes me happy to know that I am able to capture moments for them that they will treasure for a lifetime. I took my very first photography class my Freshman year in high school which was fall of 2004! woah… I am feeling a little old:)Anyways, I started out learning film photograph, and working in the darkroom. I LOVE FILM. In fact I am exploring the idea of incorporating film into my business. I continued studying film photography in college, and I graduated with an Art Education K-12 BA Degree and my concentration was in photography. Sometimes I miss those late nights in the darkroom, and then some days I don’t. My work has evolved over the years, and still continues to do so, but one thing that remains the same in my work is my passion to capture the subject of my photograph completely. I grew up taking pictures of my family for photo project due to convince at first, but then it really turned into something. I love watching a personality shine through, regardless of a lens being shoved into it’s face. My nieces are great examples of this. No matter what, they were themselves – even if that meant they didn’t want to take pictures that day, they definitely weren’t afraid to show that. I love breakthroughs like that. So that is what I strive to do – to capture the real you. Not an overly made up, fake, posed you – the real, fun, loving you!
