About

Countryside Catering, we are a family owned and operated business. We opened in 1998, so we have a lot of experience, we speacilize in southern dishes like our grandmother's made. We take pride in our food always being the same. We do large and small events onsite and off. We do setup and serve buffet or drop off. We let our clients build their own package, as everyone has a different budget. We have a small dining room and covered patio on site that hold 50 guest inside and about 20 outside. You can bring your own alcohol beverage. We are located in the country just outside of Athens, Ga. We would love to help you with your event. Give us a call or email us.

Catering with Countryside

Countryside Catering served dinner at my spring wedding! My friends and family were pleased with their meal! Countryside worked well with my venue and other vendors in planning how we would serve, etc.

Good country food!! They even made my own potato recipe for the reception! The servers were excellent, even helped cut & serve the wedding cake!

They are already booked for the next wedding in the family!

I absolutely loved their food. They catered both my rehearsal dinner and my reception dinner. They have simple food but they make it amazing. I never wanted anything fancy that I could barely pronounce the name of. They're cooking is definitely southern and amazing. Their prices were probably the lowest I found, but they did not taste cheap or conduct business cheaply. i HIGHLY reccommend countryside manor and caterring. They also have their own venue, which I also used. Its a big rectangular building that is all wood on the inside with white string lights circling the ceiling beams, also with a big fireplace in the center of the room. They have both a brides dressing room as well as grooms. They were comfy and spacious. Also, off the back they have recently built a large pavillion to hold out door ceremonies, with a bond and big willow tree in the background. Its so so so beautiful. The two people who own the place are a married couple who live on the property. Margie, who is the main contact, is sweet and very very flexible and also responds to emails VERY promptly (usually within the same day). I loved everything about this place, even the fact that its out in the middle of the country. It felt private and beautiful.

By far, the best value in the local Athens area. Received many compliments, "best wedding food ever." they regularly cater for UGA recruits, and if it's good enough for Mark Richt, it's good enough for my wedding! Absolutely delicious Southern food. They also provide a charming, well-made picnic basket for the bride and groom to go.

If you are looking for incredible food that is actually edible, at a reasonable price and with great service, then please, please call Countryside Catering! Margie and Jerry were FANTASTIC and provided amazing food for our 80 wedding guests and sent us home with a picnic basket full of food, which we devoured before the next day! They will even setup/cleanup the venue for an additional $200, which is practically nothing considering they (unlike other caterers in the area) do NOT charge for staff/servers/managers nor do they require minimums!!! We cannot say enough good things about them, and we look forward to attending another event catered by them! Also, as wedding planning can require numerous hours on the phone, we especially loved that most of our communication with Countryside could be done via email with an almost immediate response -- a definite must for us!

Margie and Jerry were awesome and very easy going about our plans and answering questions. I think I emailed Margie a thousand times with questions but she was always quick to respond and very helpful and polite.

I had a VERY similar experience to the previous reviewer. We are from out of town, so were planning the whole event from 800 miles away. We had hired Countryside to cater an off-site wedding reception. I met with the caterer and sampled our food last Fall as well, and was also very happy with the food and the staff at that time. However, dealing with them as our wedding date neared became more and more difficult. I gave them our our initial menu selections only to be told it was "too much food" for a wedding our size and was talked into scaling back the selections. Their overall tone in our communications was short and curt, as though I was inconveniencing them with my business. I would politely email them with the same questions multiple times and not receive a straight answer, and I would verify info with them in writing that they changed at the last minute or simply overlooked. The morning of the wedding day, I had difficulty trying to talk them into giving me what we had previously agreed upon and already paid them for, and this ultimately culminated in them showing up on the wedding day, scowling at my guests and sitting in their van. I also feel like the quality of food at the event wasn't consistent with our awesome sample we'd received months earlier. It worked out okay in the end, but truthfully I cannot recommend Countryside.

Countryside at first look seemed amazing. My fiance and I had visited this last fall and loved it. We were treated very well and everything seemed great. It all fell apart within this last week though. They had let go the main guy who had ALL our wedding details. They had told us there were certain things that their staff were going to handle (direct parking, serve buffet food, set up chairs, etc) and all of a sudden they were saying that had never said that and now that was on us and our people. Sure, okay, we figured our way around that. They then emailed us (all of this happening within 2 weeks of our wedding day) saying that they no longer liked the quality of the food we decided on for our menu- in MARCH- and had us go through and revamp our menu as well. I understand that things became stressful for them as they guy who really ran the administrative side was let go (which- he was amazing and is currently helping us now with our back up plan so I don't understand why he's not there). But they took that stress out on us. They made us feel like we were doing everything wrong when we clearly asked weeks ago what they needed from us as we did with all of our vendors. No response. It came down to them saying that if we didn't give them the information they JUST sprung on is, that they assumed our event will be CANCELLED. I promise you, we did everything on our side to understand what they needed early on, but nothing was communicated. They had a vague contract but never sent us a copy, and after asking for the copy, they stated that all anyone else needed before was their word, and was very hesitant in getting us a copy. The review you'll see below mine is how our story unfolded as well and that is why we have decided to go a different way- 8 days before our wedding. It wasn't an easy decision, but there have been so many hidden costs & requirements that we can't trust them. Luckily we have a solid back up plan in the works- but I don't recommend.

First of all, I never met Jerry. I have no idea who Jerry is because all I dealt with was Margie. She is rude. We emailed back and forth and met once in person. She was not flexible at all. I met them at a bridal show where I tried their food. Don't get me wrong, the food was great but dealing with her was the worst experience ever and I ONLY needed them for catering, not the venue. We had agreed that they would be my caterer for my wedding. Then, they backed out on me because they booked a UGA event. She belittled my wedding saying, "you never know, nobody may show up to your wedding because of the Georgia game." I was thinking "seriously?" She has POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. They DO charge for extra staffing and THEY WON'T LET YOU KEEP THE LEFTOVER FOOD. If they staff the event for you, they bring the food back to Winterville with them. So you pay for the food and you can't keep the uneaten leftovers! She REFUSED TO WRITE, SIGN, AND CREATE A CONTRACT! There were a lot of unknowns with my wedding because of the UGA game. She didn't have the staff for my wedding to restock the buffet so she said that we would have to go out and rent our own chafing dishes, hot boxes, and heating lamps. We would have to go find our own staff for the wedding. It was just a DISASTER. In the end, they ended up cancelling with me because they refused to sign a contract. The only positive thing about them is that they gave me my deposit back because they cancelled with me. The food is cheap, yes, but I WOULD NOT RISK the cheapness of their food to their quality or guarantee of showing up for your reception. I'm no a pushy bride or anything so I don't understand why I had SO much trouble!
