About this venue

Located in Swisher, Iowa, Cedar Ridge Vineyards is a winery wedding venue. The estate is situated on a hilltop and is a short distance from Iowa City and Cedar Rapids. Here, couples and their guests can enjoy sweeping views of the vineyard and its gorgeous surroundings. This establishment began in 2005 when Jeff Quint, and ninth-generation farmer and fermenter, left accountancy. Returning to his roots, he and his wife Laurie opened Cedar Ridge. Since then, they have been the recipients of national and international acclaim.

Facilities and Capacity

Cedar Ridge Vineyards has a temperature-controlled event center that includes access to outdoor terraces and an expansive lawn. Inside, there is seating available for up to 200 guests. This is provided as padded black chairs and round tables. Cedar Ridge Vineyards is also home to a distillery where whiskey is produced on-site. Here, visitors can enjoy tours and tastings, as well as casual dining experiences. Live music is welcome here, creating a pleasant ambiance throughout the venue. Photos can be snapped across the property, allowing couples to gain precious keepsakes captured among timeless backdrops. The vineyards themselves are lush with green vegetation and blanketed under an endless blue sky, creating a picturesque landscape. To make the most of these beautiful surroundings, the winery's main event space features two-story windows that overlook the bucolic fields beyond.

I could not have asked for a better place to have my wedding and reception. My husband and I choose to have a Sunday wedding to keep costs within our budget, therefore, the price was very reasonable to have our wedding at such a memorable location. The setting is absolutely beautiful outside and inside, so it did not require much decorating at all! I received many wonderful comments from guests on how it was such a lovely venue and the food was delicious. The pizza and apps buffet was a hit! Having the venue provide there own catering made the process so much easier. I cannot thank Ashton enough for her help throughout the entire process, from communicating via email about concerns and opinions to helping on the wedding day with anything we may need. My husband and I will definitely be returning for wine and pizza to reminisce on our special day.

I’m so happy we chose to have our reception at Cedar Ridge!! All of the staff was amazing, we worked closest with Ashton and Chris who were beyond helpful. When the bridal party getting ready location fell through, Ashton went out of her way to ensure I had everything I needed to prepare for the day. She was always easy to get a hold of if we had any questions or concerns and made sure our day was perfect. The venue itself is gorgeous. We got married November 18th, 2017 and although it was cold, the vineyards still looked amazing. We utilized both buildings and it was perfect for our 165+ guests. The food was so delicious, everyone loved the parmesan au gratin potatoes but everything on the menu is a winner. So happy the law passed allowing cedar ridge to serve their own whisky, rum, etc. in addition to their amazing wine, there was something for everyone! I wish I had pictures to add but just got married this past Saturday so don’t have any of the venue yet!

I cannot say enough good things about how much we loved working with Cedar Ridge. We cannot say enough good things about Ashton. She was very quick to respond and always answered questions when we had them. The day of the wedding couldn't have gone any smoother.

Planning a wedding in Iowa from the East Coast meant booking a venue before ever having visited it. But once we starting looking into having our wedding at Cedar Ridge we knew it was the perfect place for us! I think we got the very last date available in August (we booked about 6 months out - they are very popular!) so it was meant to be! During our trip out to see the venue, we had Brunch and did a wine tasting before our official site visit. It was love at first site. All of the employees were so nice and attentive, the space and views are beyond imaginable, the food was fantastic and their banquet hall is perfect with huge windows, garage doors that open to the outside, built in dance floor and bar!

We did all of our catering through the venue and Ashton helped me customize my Iowa themed menu - after all, this was a destination wedding for a lot of our guests! Ashton was wonderful during the entire process, easy to work with, listening to my ideas and making suggestions. She is truly a huge asset to the wedding team - helping me plan all of my details and make sure they came to reality on the day of the event!

Our ceremony was out on their patio which sets up perfectly for small ceremonies (we had 100 chairs set-up for 90 guests) with a natural semicircle set-up and the most gorgeous backdrop of the vineyard. We put a bar outside and had food for the cocktail hour in their tasting room and then moved into the banquet room for dinner and dancing. We kept the garage doors closed during dinner, but opened them up in the evening and even had a fire-pit outside. The food, venue, staff, everything was absolutely wonderful. And we loved having all of the Wine and Spirits be Cedar Ridge products! My husband and I are huge whiskey fans so this was our favorite part of the venue :) We would highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for a beautiful place to get married! We look forward to returning whenever we are in town!

Cedar Ridge Vineyards is such a beautiful and unique venue for a wedding. It is in Swisher, Iowa but feels much more like an escape from city life. Its beautiful vineyards were the perfect backdrop to our photos, and we even had the opportunity to take photos in front of bourbon barrels! The staff was so flexible and worked with our every need- including adding 20 minute children's meals to our menu two days prior to the wedding. They were our caterers too, and the food was PHENOMENAL. We had the beef tenderloin and stuffed eggplant- people are still raving about the food to me! Also, we had them serve wood-fired pizzas at 10pm for a late night snack and our guests LOVED that idea! People were so happy to see pizza after dancing and partying- and their wood fired pizzas are delicious!
As mentioned in a previous review, Cedar Ridge provided us the tables, chairs and white tablecloths which ended up saving us tons of money. It was quite chilly (May 30th in Iowa is always a gamble), so we decided last minute to move the ceremony into the reception hall instead of outdoors in their lovely stone circle. Staff was prompt to help move everything we needed to, and the ceremony was beautiful!

Did I mention how delicious their products are? They make their own spirits (including Gin, Rum, Vodka etc), delicious wines, brandy, and more -and are probably most known for their award-winning Bourbon. Our guests were very pleased!

I cannot recommend Cedar Ridge enough. Our wedding felt like a dream come true, and the venue, food and atmosphere of the winery/distillery certainly greatly assisted in that.

This is a beautiful place if your looking for a place to get married or for a wedding rehearsal dinner over looking the beautiful vineyard. I am looking forward to it September 2018 with my family and closet friends.

Cedar Ridge Winery is an AMAZING venue for a wedding! I wanted something outside and they really delivered! Originally when I booked in 2011 their reception space was a big white wedding tent which I fell in love with, but in May 2012 they finished up their construction on a pavillion to replace the tent. The pavillion is fantastic, it has 4 overhead doors that open up on the sides to give you and your guests a feeling of being among their beautiful vines and it is air conditioned! Seats 200 people, they already have the tables and chairs for you so there's no need to rent them. My favorite part is that they are a winery and a distillery so your guests can sample and purchase if they would like. Their staff will pour the wine you want served also so there's no need for a bartender unless you want mixed drinks. The only thing I was unhappy with was that I was told we had till 11:30 pm to get cleaned up because it is in a residential area technically. BUT the Cedar Ridge staff started putting chairs up before it was even 10:00 pm without asking me which caused my guests to start leaving. I had no guests left when we had our sendoff into the limo at 10:30 pm! Very beautiful setting but make sure you get to use it for the time you paid for cause I didn't.
