CANISTER was the best photographer we could have hoped for! Julie is extremely talented, but beyond that, she is fun to work with and makes you feel comfortable as she is taking pictures. She is also very responsive in communication. There is no one else we would have trusted our wedding pictures with and they came out stunning!

My husband and I are very particular and take a long time to make decisions, and photos were one of the most important wedding details to us. We spent six months (no joke) researching photographers, meeting with them, and analyzing all their pictures.

When we looked through the albums that Julie (Canister) sent us from previous weddings, we cried at A LOT of them. These were complete strangers, but the way she captures the emotions of the people is so well done that we couldn't help but cry. She's also amazing with natural light. (I will never forget this one picture from someone else's wedding that she took with natural light in a church!) The other great thing my husband and I noticed is that the albums were about half filled with pictures of the couple, but the other half had mostly guests in them. We really liked this, because we wanted to remember all aspects of the wedding and not just the wedding party or the people who wanted to dance.

Julie is really good at making you comfortable in front of the camera. She does some poses, but mostly she let us just be ourselves and do what we would normally do around each other. She captured lots of little looks and touches that made the pictures charged with emotion. During our wedding, I had no make-up on, and the wedding party wasn't holding anything (flowers, etc.). Regardless, Julie made the pictures look great while making everyone look (and feel) natural and comfortable. Also, she doesn't force you into poses that you don't want to do. While taking photos during the wedding of me by myself, she asked if I wanted to do a serious photo (no smiling). I said no because it's not my style, and she just smiled, said, "Okay!", and moved on.

Another great thing about Julie as the photographer is she doesn't do the same tired poses for engagement or wedding pictures. Are you sick of seeing the SAME PICTURES with every photographer, like the one where the wedding party walks towards the camera and no one looks natural? Then go with Julie, and your pictures will be awesome and unique.

Finally, Julie is one of the less expensive photographers that we found, and she travels. She drove three hours to meet us at the venue before the wedding, so that she could see it ahead of time and talk to us about different spots we wanted pictures in, etc.

Both of our mothers separately told us after the wedding that, "Every time I was talking to someone and smiling or laughing, it seemed like suddenly Julie was there to take a picture of me." All of our guests commented on how kind and fun Julie was (she even stayed to dance with us after she was done!), and many people took the time to tell us how impressed they were with the emotion (especially all the laughter and smiles) in all the pictures. We couldn't be happier with them, and truly feel like they are the best and most unique pictures we've ever seen!!

To sum up, Julie is the absolute best there is, and you would be lucky to book her!

Julie Louisa Hagenbuch is an incredible photographer! We are so grateful for her flexibility, artistic eye, warmth, and professionalism.

Our engagement photoshoot allowed us to get to know her before the big day. She suggested that we select a meaningful location, and we're so glad she did; we ended up at our alma mater, where we first met as freshmen. Julie immediately made us feel at ease. The photos--both candid and staged--captured our joy in being together, the beautiful campus (an arboretum), and the light streaming in from the setting sun. We're glad that Julie was willing to travel there. She corresponded with us through email, and sent us the photos soon afterwards.

As for our wedding, Julie visited the site ahead of time to scope it out. She asked us to fill out a form that not only helped us to determine which shots we wanted, but also enabled us to streamline the portrait-taking process the day of the wedding. She and her assistant were unobtrusive when taking photos, and they honed in on every detail: a laugh erupting, the glint of the wedding bands, hands clasped, etc. In particular, we love the candid shots, which reflect so many wonderful moments of merriment. Each guest felt as though Julie captured his or her "best-self," and it's true; everyone looked marvelous, whether they were posing in a portrait or boogying on the dance floor! We were especially appreciative of Julie's efficiency, which gave us the time to relax during the reception.

Finally, our wedding album is incredible! Julie did an amazing job designing it; each page tells the story of our special day. She also included us in the process by asking us if we wanted to make any changes, which we really appreciated. We'll treasure this album for the rest of our lives.

It was an absolute pleasure to work with Julie! Every time we view the photographs, we're transported back to that happy day on the shore. We highly recommend her!

Julie recently photographed our wedding and was fantastic the whole time!
She was very responsive leading up to the wedding and amazingingly fast after - we got a few images later on our wedding day and the full photo package about a month after the wedding. She captured a great mix of portraits and candids, and we are so proud to show them to everyone.

Julie was our photographer and she was absolutely incredible. So wonderful to work with, accommodating, flexible and kind. Her photos were also outstanding. It was the perfect mix of candids that captured the wedding day along with portraits for the family and wedding party. Book her immediately!

Julie was the photographer for our wedding and she is an amazingly talented professional who was a joy to work with. She was responsive to email, kept in touch, and thoroughly discussed her services and her approach. Julie talked with us about what our wedding was going to be like (very non-traditional in all senses of the term) and what we were looking for. She understood that we wanted few formal portraits and that we wanted her to really capture what the evening was like for us and our guests. She did that and more!

She was relaxed and made our guests feel comfortable. While I know now that she was photographing the wedding ceremony, it was not obvious during the ceremony. We loved the images she was able to get. Many of our guests remarked about how easy going and now subtle she was in taking photos. Our wedding planner and the owner of the venue where we were married told us about an interaction she had with Julie because Julie needed some more light. She said that Julie was the most gracious, accommodating, and professional photographer with whom she has worked.

She got our images to us in a timely manner and checked to make sure that we were happy with her work. Happy doesn't begin to describe it - each image is gorgeous and helps tell the story of that evening. Our guests have commented that her work is among the very best they have seen. And we completely agree. From start to finish, working with Julie has been an immense pleasure - a true professional with enormous talent and a great sense of humor. We couldn't have asked for more.

Julie's work is simply amazing. She's a true talent. My husband and I love every photo she took at our vow renewal (wedding we never had but always wanted!) on 10/22/16. We were very happy with Julie's service at our wedding! She is very down-to-earth and reliable which was perfect for our woodsy wedding. Julie is such a joy to work with! She was the photographer at my brother's wedding 9 months prior to mine, and my husband and I reached out to her about our wedding as soon as we set a date. Her photos are stunning, she's an amazing person, and she's incredibly organized. She worked with us to put together a list of the must-have groupings for the formal portraits, which really made things run smoothly and efficiently. But what's more is that Julie specializes in candids and really captures those moments of absolute raw emotion. It's an amazing talent to have and my husband and I are able to relive our wedding day through her pictures. We had been told by a lot of people that on the day of your wedding, you don't actually get to have time to yourselves to soak everything in and live in the moment, but with Julie as our photographer, that couldn't have been farther from the truth. Julie gave my husband and I that time to be together, away from everyone to really be present together enjoying those first moments as husband and wife and to soak it all in. It was one of my favorite parts of the day and Julie was there to capture it. She had told us she would give us some direction to make sure she got certain shots, but for the most part she wanted us to just be us -- talk, laugh, cry, kiss, hug, whatever we were feeling.

Julie is also incredibly accommodating and flexible. She had never been to our venue before, so we met on-site to show her around and run through things for the day-of. She worked with our DJ and caterer to make sure she knew when the 'wedding - moments' (i.e. first dance, father/daughter, mother/son, cake cutting, etc.) were happening so she didn't miss those moments, either. We couldn't be happier.
