Cafe Amelie is one of our favorite restaurants in New Orleans - the food, staff, and atmosphere is all wonderful. We had brunch at Café Amelie the day after we got engaged and asked if they did weddings “just to ask for fun”. Immediately they brought us a wedding album with information and a sample proposal. We didn't even know when or where we were going to marry as we live in Denver! Originally we had wanted to marry in Aspen, but our older relatives said they wouldn’t come to the higher altitude. So, it was not a tough decision to marry "below sea level" at this amazing location, especially after looking at the proposal, menus, etc. We looked at a few other venues quickly, but nothing even compared to Cafe Amelie. We loved the fact Cafe Amelie closes down their entire restaurant for weddings so no other patrons would be walking through or eating next to our party. With a short 87-day engagement, we pulled off what our guests say was the best wedding they had ever attended. Danny Akers, the GM, has been doing weddings and management for Cafe Amelie for over 9 years. He has a system that works and makes the process easy. Since the beautiful and private courtyard is so gorgeous with flowers and trees, there was no need to spend much on decor or flowers. Our food was the best wedding food I have ever had - we had Bacon Wrapped Shrimp, Louisiana Crawfish Pies, Crab Cakes, Brie and Berry Toasts, the Amelie Salad, Shrimp and Grits, and Roasted Chicken with Garlic Au Jus. Everyone raved about the delicious food. The open bar was priced by the hour so we had no “unknown” expenses to surprise us. The staff was so friendly and nice. My husband and I had a private waiter by our sides to make sure we had everything we needed throughout the night. Everything worked out wonderfully, and I wish I had more room to write all the great things about Café Amelie as there is so much more to rave about! I highly recommend!
