My groomsmen, ushers and fathers rented their tuxes from A Special Occassion. The reason we chose them was for the convenient location and flexibility. Other tux rental shops needed deposits and had strict rules and timeframes that just didn't work for our bridal party.

They were even understanding about a tricky situation in which we had to order tuxes for my step sons being unsure if their mother would let them go. She offered to what she could to cancel the order if we knew by the time the order shipped. Unfortunately, we didn't and they couldn't come but we appreciated the efforts regardless!!

My only issue was having a couple items not arriving on time or not fitting properly and having to be reordered. Everything was ready for the wedding however, and they looked great.

Though it seems kind of obvious to me.. If someone in your party is a large guy... make sure you remind them to measure his neck!!! ;-)

I ordered my dress here and they were suppose to hem it, add a bustle, change the neckline and sew my belt into my zipper. On what was suppose to be my final fitting I went in and they had forgotten to change the neckline and the bustle and hem weren't short enough. They said they wouldn't have it done until the day of my rehearsal.. Which was just added stress. When I put it on for the wedding (because there was no way to fix it before hand) the bustle and hem were still too long so by the time I walked down the aisle it was already dirty on bottom. By the end of the night it had foot prints and the bottom is black. I didn't expect it to stay pristine but I also didn't expect to be stepping on my dress all night long. It was hard to even dance:( they were very nice people and it was just an honest mistake but paying so much for a gown and then it being wrong and not ready until the day of rehearsal with no way to fix any issues was just not worth it. Looking back I wish I would have gotten alterations done elsewhere. I recommend them for dress shopping but not for alterations.

My dress was stunning. However, this business was a challenge to work with. For one, the owner was rather rude. She made comments about my weight and questioned my decision to have my (toddler aged) step daughter as my MOH and suggested I use an adult. She argued with me about expanding my zipper 2 weeks before my wedding, and suggest I lose 5lbs instead. The dress was beautiful and fit like a glove for the ceremony. When I bent down to hug a child in my receiving line the back tore open. The new zipper that was put in was not sewn correctly. Thank goodness a guest had safety pins. All my wedding photos had to be sure not to show my back, as I was safety pinned into my dress.

I didn't buy my dress at A Special Occasion and I'm rather glad that I didn't. I only used them for alteration services. I was less than impressed with them, especially their customer service. While they did do a good job on the alterations, I had to repeatedly call them to check on my dress. I dropped it off in early August and it was promised to me by the end of August. I called them when I returned from a lengthy business trip in mid-September and they still hadn't started on the alterations. I finally was able to get my dress back from them about 4 days before my wedding. They often didn't answer their phone and kept making promises that they kept breaking. They were more headache than they were worth and I will not recommend them to anyone.

You may want to reconsider if you are thinking of doing business here!!

I went in to be measured for a bridesmaid's dress, and I paid half of the cost of the dress. Then, before all of the other girls made it in to be measured, the wedding was changed, and we didn't have to order the dress after all.

They refused to give my money back. I had to take them to small claims court to get them to agree to give my money back. Save yourself a huge headache and shop somewhere else!
