My Reviews(24)
Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center Washington, District Of Columbia 20004
Simply put, the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center was the PERFECT place to hold our reception. IT was everything I could have ever wanted. Guests were floored by the level of professionalism and the quality of service they received. The food was absolutely incredible and the presentation was 5-star. Although, we had a slight bump in the road 3 days before the wedding, the RRB came through and took care of everything to ensure that we were happy. Additionally, I will be the first to admit that the cost of using the services of the RRB are not cheap, however to be able to have all of your major vendors under the same roof is a ton less stressful than having to arrange your linens, catering, venues, and décor separately. Courtney and Karen really did a fabulous job and I will be forever grateful.
As it is the chapel on the campus of our Alma Matter, we absolutely had to have the ceremony at the Memorial Chapel. However, that being said, the staff really did everything they could to make it a wonderful experience. They were very pleasant and assisted us with all of our needs. Although, I think it was a kittle costly to rent considering we were both alumni, I think it was totally worth it and the pictures are absolutely stunning,. What a perfect way to honor the place where we both met!
Charles Leatherman of C&J Photographic did a beautiful job on our wedding photos. He was easy to work with and extremely accommodating. He came hours before the ceremony to get all of the candid pre-shots and then stayed until the very end of the reception to capture every last memory. Furthermore, he had no problem traveling from the Baltimore area all the way down to DC for our wedding—which not everyone was willing to do. All of the pictures he took were uploaded to a website gallery within days of the wedding and he even pre-loaded most of my guests emails into the website database so my guests received an email when we “released” the photos. Finally, since we immediately left for a two-week honeymoon after the wedding, we came hoem to find that the contact sheets as well as all of the prints and Photo CD were already done and delivered accordingly. Plus, the pictures are absolutely stunning! Charlie was able to get shots that I didn’t know he had taken so I was really able to see everything that happened at the wedding. I couldn’t be happier with his work and I highly recommend him to others.
Simply put: you get what you pay for. The quality is cheap, but then again so are their prices. It worked out very well to order all of my decorations and candy for the kid’s room that I created. We did a beach theme and I was really able to get everything I needed from OTC. The downside is that you have to order in bulk even if you only need 2 or 3 of the product, but with 18 kids, I found bulk buying very convenient. It only cost me $300 to full out fit a large kid’s room fro 18 with a beach theme—that’s not bad!
I cannot say enough how glad I am that I chose Ory to be our wedding florist. Everything he created for us was perfect! I literally had every guest coming up to me at the weddign to compliment how amazing our centerpieces were. Plus, the bouquets were absoultely divine! All of the flowers were absolutely the best quality and his designs were spot on what we disccused they would be. I even trusted Ory to create all of the designs for the weddign without seeing samples, and I was not dissapointed one bit! He was extremely friendly and flexible and offered a great value for all of the work he put in for our wedding. I will absolutely continue to use Ory in the future for all of our floral needs (and he is over 90 minutes from where I live, so he's not exactly our "local" florist, but worth the extra effort).
Despite the fact that Cakes By Design is about 45 minutes from both my work and home, I think I may have to get all of my cakes from them from now on (I’m already planning the next time I will need to order a cake). Our wedding cake was absolutely delicious (or so I’m told, the bride never gets to eat the food!). Guests were amazed with how beautiful the cake looked and how scrumptious it tasted. The two most comments I have heard from guests were in regards to the flowers and the cake. Guests were floored with how yummy the cake was (hopefully I’ll find out in 12 months!).
Also, Debbie is just so darn awesome to work with. She is beyond personable and so inviting to anyone who visits her shop for a cake tasting. I wish I could have gone every week to taste all of her different cake creations. I actually had a family member who was upset with me because I didn’t take him with me to the tasting because he heard it was so good from his girlfriend. Finally, the sweetest part of the process is that Debbie is absolutely affordable and she will work with you to get what you want in the price range you need. And what else can you say when you are delivered everything you ordered and it tastes good too?!!
My dress was gorgeous! However, we did have problems with the alterations department. They kept the dress for 2 weeks and then didn’t do all the alterations I had asked for. On top of that, the bustle was completely wrong and did not hold the dress up at all. But, they fixed it immediately while we waited and despite the fact that my final fitting took 3.5 hours, they put in a brand new bustle with 4 additional ties for free and pressed the dress a second time post haste. All-in-all I was pretty happy with my experience. Do keep in mind though that it can feel like the “Wal-Mart” of bridal stores at times.
Tom Cassedy of Disc Jockey Enterprises was phenomenal. He was extremely professional, yet fun! He gave us everything that we were hoping for and played music that got people moving. Additionally, he went the extra mile for us by setting up some additional equipment that we provided in order to help us out since we couldn’t set it up ourselves. I will be sure to contact Tom again if I ever need another DJ. Also, the entire staff at Disc Jockey Enterprises was extremely friendly and helpful. Patty is a sweetheart!

Amore String Trio did a top notch job! I had many guests tell me that the pre-ceremony music was beautiful and people were very impressed with the musical talents of the Junior Quartet. Also, Vivian was very helpful and friendly to work with. We had a meeting where we outlined the ceremony order and selected our music and then I didn’t have to worry about anything else. They were on-time and performed everything we arranged. I will be sure to use them in the future!
The save-the-date magnets we ordered from this vendor were perfect. They were exactly what I wanted and they were a very reasonable price. I highly recommend save-the-date originals.
I will continue to order all of my future invitation needs from Elegant Brides Invitations. My invitations were done so well and at such a reasonable price, that I ended up ordering a second style of invitation (main card only) that I had printed as my menu cards. We did have a small problem with Carlson Craft making errors on my invitations (which they often do) and mailing the menus to the wrong location, but Elegant Brides took care of it immediately and ensured that the errors were fixed and I received the replacements practically overnight. Plus, I ordered everything early enough that it was no problem to have to wait a little longer for the right items.
Reverend John Gaffney did a beautiful job with our ceremony. Although, he did get confused when we arranged ourselves according to Jewish tradition (the bride’s family was on the right) and kept looking at the father-of-the-groom when he was referring to the father-of-the-bride (plus he called my dad by the wrong name). However, it made for some very funny stories and it really was no big deal at all. Overall, we were very happy that we asked Reverend Gaffney to preside over our wedding.
Shuttle-UM (University of Maryland Transit Buses) College Park, Maryland
It is difficult for me to describe my gratitude to Shuttle-UM. As our wedding was held at our Alma Matter and Shuttle-UM is the university’s transportation system (and since I actually drove for Shuttle when I was in college) I thought it would be a great tie-in to have Shuttle provide all of the transportation for our guests. How great would it be for a guest to see a giant black and red (with Testudo) bus pull up in front of their hotel to handle all of their transportation needs handled so they can fully enjoy themselves all afternoon and night at our wedding? Well, this is exactly what happened and it was no small feat for Kirsten from Shuttle to pull off. She was extremely helpful and very friendly. She coordinated everything on her end so the transportation went off perfectly. When you are coordinating 4 buses for nearly 200 people, there are lots of things that can go wrong. Not so in this case. The buses were on-time, no one was left behind, and all of the guests were wowed to be riding in the same coach buses as the University of Maryland sports teams. I don’t know if I will ever have the opportunity to charter a Shuttle-UM bus again (you must be doing a university event or be a student/factually member), but I am so glad I was able to for my wedding.
A-T-S was the right limo vendor for me! They were able to give me a specials package which included exactly what I needed (very different from the typical limo package that most places require) and they were extremely affordable. We had a communication error and the limo driver was an hour early but he was very friendly and even came into my parent’s house and had lunch with us and hung out until we were ready to go. I will absolutely use A-T-S Limo again for my limo needs. Tim and Charles were awesome!

Ana was absolutely AMAZING!! She was totally accommodating about moving the date and location of the makeup trial more than 3 times and she did an excellent job! Ana was professional, personable, and very reasonable for all the work she put in. We did have a small problem getting her to the wedding venue on time since she had never been there before and it was a little tough to find, but she worked quickly to keep things on schedule. In fact, after having the trial, my mom was so impressed that she too hired Ana for her makeup and that is something that she has never done before (and vowed not to do)--that says a ton about Ana's skill! I would definitely use Ana again!
Mine and my husbands rings are absolutely breathtaking…enough said. The service is impeccable and the quality of the diamonds speaks for themselves. As a DC resident, I knew I had to have a local dealer supply my engagement and wedding rings (no Zales for this girl). Mervis was exactly what I wanted and they did not disappoint. Plus, they even have a new DRIP (jewelry rental) program. How great is it to be able to rent lavish jewelry for your special day without having to outright purchases tens of thousands of dollars worth of the good stuff.
What can I say about Shannon? It’s hard for me to write this review because she was absolutely the glue that held our wedding together and I don’t exactly know how to communicate that—words don’t seem to be enough. However, I will do my best because I think she was absolutely the most important vendor I selected in order to pull-off the wedding of my dreams. So, let my try to outline some of my highlights about Shannon:
#1—Shannon’s prices are beyond reasonable for the services that she provides (dare I say she actually may charge too little for as much work as she puts in).
#2—When I first met Shannon, besides being very pregnant, she impressed me as someone who would “get things done.” By this, I mean that she seemed to be the type of person that, when needed, could pull out a little attitude to accomplish her goals. In fact, when I hired Shannon I told her that I chose to hire her because I could tell she had “just a touch of bitch” in her and I knew that she would wield her sword of attitude, if needed. I knew we were a match when she laughed and agreed with me and wasn’t offended by my comment.
#3—In working with Shannon I found that she cares very much for her brides—she actually treats them as friends rather than clients. She only takes on a few weddings per year (as she is primarily a stay-at-home mom) and so she puts in the time to get to know her brides so she can offer more personalized attention than some other planners I have heard of.
#4—Shannon has some excellent connections in the wedding industry and therefore is able to get discounts and other freebies or thro-ins from certain vendors. Case in point, I saved 10% on my entire linen order because Shannon had a relationship with the vendor I chose (and that vendor was the only one in the area who could offer me the linens I wanted and the pre-discounted price was stellar, so the discount only sweetened the pot even more!).
Finally, I think the best way to sum up Shannon’s excellence is to offer a story about my mother. When I first started planning for the wedding, I knew within 3 weeks that I would need someone in my corner to help me. My mom thought I was ridiculous for wanting to hire a wedding planner and told me not to waste my money and that she knew I was anal retentive and organized enough to do it on my own (which, truthfully I am!). However, I knew that I wanted someone to take the pressure off of me and assist me in finding the right vendors for my needs—I’ve never been married before, how do I know what a good price for flowers is? Well, after we had been planning for about 6 months and during our third trip to the bridal store (which was over an hour’s drive for Shannon), my mom pulled me aside and told me how glad she was that I had hired Shannon. Furthermore, as far as day-of coordination is concerned, Shannon was invaluable and I had both of my parents as well as my new in-laws singing her praises in how much easier she made the entire process for everyone.
I know I haven’t said nearly enough, but I must indicate that Shannon was by far the most important person I hired to help me with our wedding. I’m not sure if I could have done it without her.
Ice Kristals did a great job on the two martini Ice Luges we ordered for our wedding. They were able to assist us in selecting the right luges for our budget (which actually led to us getting two smaller luges for less than what the one large luge was going to be) and even delivered the luges to my venue (over 50 miles away) for free. All of the guests were extremely surprised by the ice luges that we placed next to the bar so drinks could be poured down them, and it added a very nice effect to the cocktail hour and full reception. Plus, and most importantly, the workmanship was excellent and the luges held up for the full 6 hour reception.
The Wedding Dance Specialists MD: Gaithersburg, Bethesda, Rockville, Beltsville, Columbia, Towson, Baltimore, Windsor Mills, District Of Columbia 20015
We were very impressed with the two lessons we took with the Wedding Dance Specialists. We wanted to look polished and comfortable without looking rehearsed and too formal—and that is exactly what we got. We were able to complete a beautiful, natural waltz that we felt comfortable doing in front of 200 people with only 2 sessions. We would definitely use the Wedding Dance Specialists again. The Wedding Dance Specialists responded with the the following comments: Thank you! We will keep you in the loop about upcoming fun workshops to keep the honeymoon alive!
