Us

Our Story

Patrick and I met 3 years ago, when we where both employed at the same company. My sister and I were working with a temp agency that assigned us there. I was not looking for romance at the time being that I had just broken up with my boyfriend, due to the stress of him being in the military and serving in Iraq.
Patrick invited us to lunch one day, i turned him down but my sister said "Hey, free lunch" and agreed that we would go with him. It was nothing fancy just a quick drive to McDonalds. But I refused to get in his car and told him we would follow him there.
He was very insistant and continued to ask us to lunch on a daily basis. I did not realize that he was trying to warm up to me...lol.
After a few weeks he invited me to the movies and I accepted. When he showed up at my parents home to pick me up, I informed him that my sister would be joining us. I left him sitting in the living room, while I went upstairs to call my sister. My younger brothers and sisters started bugging him asking him all sorts of questions, just being PIA's. My dad came home and asked him who the hell he was and why was he in the house. I was upstairs laughing.. Patrick introduced himself and explained why he was there. he was such a gentleman, he never showed any fear towards my dad, who could be very intimidating. As the evening went on, we went to the movies and dinner afterwards.
For the first couple of weeks I would not go out with him alone, I always dragged one of my siblings along, mind you I was 19.
He never seemed to mind, he was growing very attached to my kid brothers. He even took the time to play with my youngest sister who was barely 2 at the time. My 11 yr old sister didn't care for him and accused him of stealing her sister.
He realized very early how close my family was, he commented several times how he wished his family would have been like mines.
Well as time passed we started spending more and more time with each other, talking on the phone, acting like high school kids again.
Eventually something happend in his home life that left him with no where to live. My mother agreed to allow him to stay in my brother's room with the knowledge that when my brother went to bed he was to be in that room also.
Well that's how it all began. Needless to say we eventually moved to a place of our own and now have 2 beautiful little girls.
We have decided to get married because of the love we have towards each other, knowing we want to spend the rest of our days in each others arms.

The Ring

How we got engaged; We left our daughters with my parents for the weekend, to be able to spend some alone time together.  We spend our friday night snuggled up watching tv nothing exciting just the fact that for the first time in 5 months we didn't have our girls. the next morning he suggested a canoe ride down a local stream. So we loaded the canoe on the trailer and headed out. Its a long quiet calming ride disturbed only by other passing canoes. Well for some odd reason he didn't know what he was doing a ride that normally takes 30 minutes, became an hour long ride, which of course I didn't mind. He decided to pull up on a pier that we had never stopped at before. As we got out i noticed rose petals covering the pier and the steps, I found it very odd since roses did not grow by the stream. He stopped to tie the canoe and told me to go ahead of him. As I went up the steps I noticed an arch covered in vines and roses at the top. I turned to look at him and he had the biggest smile. he told me to look up. At that point I saw my eldest daughter standing there with a rose in her hand, I immediately began to cry I knew what he was about to do. As we continued to climb the stairs up to my daughter I saw my parents and all of my siblings. My mom handed me my baby girl who was wearing an oversized t-shirt it said " Mommy will you marry my daddy?" Boy did I begin to cry I turned to answer him when I read my eldest daughters shirt. hers read "say YES". As I turned to him again he was down on one knee with the ring in his hand. I immediately said yes. The ring is a nice simple ring. He said it reminded him of me when he saw it he says" It was simple, yet elegant just the way you are"
Mind you when I came back to reality i asked my family how the heck did they get there? It turns out he had planned it the week before with them. They knew before I did!!! They had been at the place since 7 am setting up, we didn't arrive till about 10 am. So to say the least I owed them a lot of insect bite relief.....lol

Our Wedding Plans

We are going with a princess theme chosen by him. My mom and 14 yr old sister are handling all of the decore, centerpieces, flowers, decorations, invitations. As they are DYI'ing it all. They just call me for supplies and imput. The only thing My FH and I have done is pick the venue.
