Thank you for the great review. I'm glad you were pleased with everything we did for you for the bridal shower and wedding. Wishing you all the best for your future life together.
My husband and I had a very special attachment to the George Eastman house back to the days when we started dating and lived just 2 blocks away in the Park Avenue section of Rochester. I also love taking pictures and photography is a huge hobby of mine. We also collect antique cameras and have quite a few old Kodak's in our collection. So the west gardens in the home of the founder of Kodak was the perfect setting to hold our ceremony. We didn't know if they allowed weddings to be held there, but we quickly called and found out that they will hold ceremonies in the gardens, but not receptions. So we planned our reception for afterwards nearby in Fairport at the Casa Larga Vineyards. We had our ceremony on a Saturday afternoon in July, and had the whole place to ourselves for the event (no other wedding couples were allowed in to take pictures in the gardens that day). Alan, Nancy, and his staff were great in getting everything ready for the arrival of our freinds and family. They also assisted and gave us access to the gardens the day before to hold our rehearsal. Our photographer was wonderful, and the backdrop of the eastman house gardens made our pictures even more beautiful. We received many compliments from our family and friends afterwards that the ceremony site was so special and captured our personalities perfectly including a bit of rochester history which we both enjoy. They usually only have 5-6 ceremonies in the gardens each year, so this is definitely a one of a kind & special place.
Mary is a truly gifted photographer, and is still kinda of one of Rochester's best kept secrets (although she's booked pretty far in advance for summer weddings). I chose Mary originally because her photo journalistic style and pictures were exactly what we were looking for. But as time went on and I met with her to discuss booking, and then again to discuss the details of the pictures we would like taken, I realized that not only was she a great photographer but she also demonstrated nothing less than great professionalism throughout the whole process. On the day of the wedding Mary took pictures & was unobtrusive unless it was absolutely necessary (there's nothing worse than the thought of trying to enjoy your special day and having a camera right up against your face for 10 hours). When we received our proof book the pictures were amazing, and we loved all them (and there were over 300 of them). She took some traditional photos which I had discussed we'd do a few. But my favorites were the creative photo journalistic style ones, the B&W were gorgeous, she knew how to capture ALL the details, the sentiment, and the enerygy of the day. Mary has a few packages, but she's really flexible in making adjustments like adding more hours, etc. You can also purchase digital files of all your pictures on a CD if they're not already included in your package, which I love because I do alot of scrapbooking and projects and was able to use the digital files to create picture books on kodakgallery.com for my parents and in-laws for Christmas. I can't wait to see our final album! Check out her website, her pictures are amazing.
Phillipe the owner was wonderful. He gave us 8 full size slices of some of his different cake flavors to take home to taste after our first meeting (I suggest making an appointment so he can have some ready). And every single one was a slice of heaven, it was so difficult to choose because all of them were sooo good! We worked with him to incorporate our wedding colors of cream, chocolate brown, and tiffany blue into the cake, and it turned out wonderfully. I wish I could attach a picture to my review of the cake because it was so pretty. We ended up going with 2 layers of the cake in the the rasberry chambord gateau, and the other 2 layers in the mocha walnut torte. The cake was such a hit, that we think some people took 2 slices, so there wasn't a single piece left and if it wasn't for the reception manager setting aside a few slices for us, we probably wouldn't have tasted mcuh of the cake that night. So the only thing I'd recommend is going with a cake size a little bigger than your total guests. We also had him make us some cookie trays to include in the dessert table, which also turned out well. My sister also worked with Phillipe to make chocolate and carrot cupcakes for my bridal shower, and he decorated the tops with hydrangea flowers in fondant that turned out so beautifully and the cupcakes tasted so good. They were truly gourmet cupcakes!
This review is a mixed review because I used Peggy's bridal to purchase my wedding gown and also to rent the tux's. I went to 3 other bridal places in the Rochester area, and they either had not much of a selection, or were considerably overpriced. At Peggy's bridal they had a great selection, and carried 2 lines I really liked, Paloma Blanca, and Pronovias. I was so happy with my dress, that I convinced my fiance to use Peggy's for his and his groomsmen tuxedo rentals. Peggy's staff had claimed that they would oversee everything for the tux's including making sure all the necessary pieces that we had selected for the tux's were on time, and that they would check everything for any quality issues and press them, etc. I highly recommend Peggy's Bridal for a wedding dress, but I WOULD not recommend them for tux's. When my fiance went in a few days before the wedding with his groomsmen to try on the tux's, some of the tux's had broken buckles, and one of the tux's pants were too small, and another had a ripped shoulder seam. We requested a new tux style that had just come out and so we were surprised how damaged the rentals were, and how Peggy's hadn't obviously checked anything before arriving for the apointment. On the day of the wedding a buckle popped off another groomsmen's tux and he had to safety pin his pants from falling down. And although Peggy's said they were offering a promotion/discount because I had purchased my dress there, we found out we were greatly overcharged, but too late to get our deposit back. (I had called Tuxedo Junction, where the tuxedo's had come from, and they quoted us a much better price, almost $60 cheaper on EACH tux). We could have saved hundreds if we had gone to Tuxedo Junction directly. Peggy's bridal made alot of promises on the tux rentals that they didn't keep, and we were not happy with the way the staff handled our complaints on the day of the fitting and then on the day we returned everything to tell them about all the issues we had. They just kept giving us telephone numbers of different people to call at the tux company instead of handling this themselves for us. Although the staff had been nice enough through the process of my dress, they were horrible in handling the tux issues.
I was so happy with our letterpress invitations. Kelly in the ordering dept was very professional and did wonderful followup with all our questions and changes. We had samples in the styles and colors we needed within a few days of asking for them, and we received our online proofs quickly. We received our order earlier than expected and was very happy with the quality of the papers and printing. It was nice to be able to customize our invitations to the "antique" feel of our wedding day theme and colors and make them different than what most invitations look like. We had endless options in the fonts and layouts, including envelope colors, paper size, response card layouts, etc. It was a wonderful experience from beginning to end.
