I can't say enough good things about the team at White House Catering! From our first meeting about a year in advance right up to the wedding day, the entire team was so easy to work with and gave us great suggestions on both menu options and venue set up. The food was amazing and they easily worked within our budget. The service was impeccable the night of the reception. They totally exceeded our expectations!

Great value, Delicious food

David and his team put together two absolutely fantastic meals for our May 2019 wedding at Seven Springs! They catered dinner onsite for our wedding reception, and put together a Cinco de Mayo brunch for us the day after the wedding at the Old City Bar in Richmond. We had a lot of guests coming from out of town, so we wanted to make sure we served really authentic Virginian food...and WHC really delivered, for a great price! From our initial consultation, they were professional, prompt, flexible, and courteous. And the bar and waitstaff helping out at the reception were so friendly! Would highly recommend to any couple getting married in the Richmond area. Thanks, WHC!

I cannot stress how easy to work with this entire team was! From beginning to end as I planned my wedding, David made things so simple and clear, something which I didn't think possible given my prior confusing catering conversations. They set up quickly and efficiently, don't overcharge or overstaff, and of course, serve incredible food (your own customized menu). Also very budget friendly and very quick communication- a bride's dream!

Having worked with David Napier and White House Catering professionally, I knew they were the only caterer I would consider for my wedding day. I was the wedding coordinator for a wedding that White House catered. WOW--that's all I can say! They work like a well-oiled machine. They showed the utmost professionalism and were accommodating to any requests. The whole staff that was fronted by Andrew was also extremely polite and offered assistance in any/all areas where they saw a possible need. And, their food was great, too! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

You have to try their food!! My guests are still raving about how great the food and service was during my reception. Working with them was so easy and relaxed. No pressure. They will literally make any food you want. We chose heavy appetizers and food stations, but there was so much food it turned out to be a full on buffet dinner! (Winning!!!)

Everything went perfectly with White House. The planning was easy and they helped us through every step of the way. Even though they don't have their own dinnerware, they helped with the rental planning and it wasn't too much extra work for us. The food at our rehearsal dinner and reception was amazing. I could not believe how many compliments we got on the food! I would highly recommend White House to anyone.

My mouth is still watering thinking of all the amazing food. Everything was delicious and they were so fun and easy to work with! They responded quickly to every email and were just so nice and accommodating. We used their space, Old City Bar for the rehearsal dinner and had them cater that as well and everyone loved it!

We used White House Catering for our wedding in December 2016 and we couldn't have been happier! They were great at responding to emails and questions and with making changes to our menu to fit our needs. The food on our wedding day was FABULOUS. We're still getting compliments on the brisket and shrimp and grits we served! Thanks for great service and great food!

My husband and I got married on October 1 and David and his staff exceeded all of our expectations! When we did the tasting with David, we were totally blown away by the flavors and creativity, and my husband, mom and I waited until the last minute to choose our entrees, because we knew they were all so good we just couldn't pick!

Michele and Christy were so helpful during all of the planning, and really helped ensure that our wedding was everything we had hoped it would be. From answering questions about linens to helping us figure out how much alcohol to buy, they really were our go-to people because they were so knowledgeable. When we coordinated other aspects of the dinner and reception with Classic Party Rentals, they were so familiar with White House so they were able to help us to an even greater extent. When other vendors are excited that you're using White House as your caterer, you KNOW they're good!!

Comments we had about the food at our wedding included "It didn't taste like wedding food!" and "It was the best food we have ever had at a wedding!" David even came out to see us at our reception to congratulate us. Everyone at White House was so nice and I will always recommend them!

David and Christy made the whole process from initial contact to wedding day so stress free. They were so easy to work with and were a class act on the day of the wedding. Our situation was a bit different since we got married in our own backyard, but David and his staff pulled it off as if our guests were eating at some fancy restaurant! I can't even begin to tell you how many compliments on the food we received - not only throughout the night but for days after the wedding as well! Everyone was truly impressed. We had a few guests who are gluten free and David's staff made it so easy for them to know what was "safe" to eat. And they graciously (and quickly!) responded to my 50 million emails asking questions and making small changes. They are amazing and obviously love what they do, and that makes all the difference in the world.

One of the must haves for our daughter's wedding was to work with great vendors. White House was recommended to us with rave reviews by several different people. They were the first caterer we called and we knew from the first conversation that they were the caterer meant for us. Just for comparison we had consultations with several other caterers before we committed, but no one else matched the personalization and enthusiasm that White House brought to a completely stress free experience. One moment that touched our hearts that would illustrate this: we called to ask a last minute question the week of the wedding and the staff member at White House greeted us in an excited voice saying "We're going to see you this weekend, we are so excited!!" Knowing that they were most likely very busy, yet to make us feel so special was priceless. Every question from day one was answered thoroughly, great suggestions were made (with the Bride and Groom's tastes in consideration) and the food and service at the wedding was amazing. Our daughter and new son-in-law were beyond thrilled that the White House staff made sure they felt special during the reception and they truly were able to eat and enjoy the fun menu they had spent so much time planning.

This was seriously the best food that I've ever had. We had barbecue with Mac and cheese, coleslaw, green beans, and roasted veggies. This was such good food. It wasn't really messy, the staff was super friendly, and they were able to give us staff for bartenders and helped to tell us the types of insurance we needed for the event as well. This was amazing food for a very good price! I highly recommend using White House Catering for any of your catering needs.

We can't say enough wonderful things about White House Catering. All the staff at White House Catering were fantastic. We worked most closely with Andrew, David, and Christy, who were all amazing, and the serving staff and bar tenders were all so lovely! We held the rehearsal dinner at their location at the Old City Bar and they catered our wedding the following evening. What fantastic food and great service! From the planning process to the tastings to the actual wedding dinner, everything was perfect. They went above and beyond to make sure our wedding was exactly what we planned and more! Andrew, who led our event, even helped orchestrate the cake cutting, since my husband and I didn't quite know what to do. We had family members from all over the U.S., all with different tastes in food, and every person raves about the meal! We asked for chicken and waffles, which could be daunting for some caterers, but White House made it work, and it was well worth it. Each dish was a crowd-pleaser. If you want your day to be perfect, we recommend WHC and Old City Bar for any special event!

I could not be happier that we chose White House Catering for our wedding reception and rehearsal dinner. I was floored by how responsive and knowledgeable the team is, and they were able to easily build a custom menu for both our rehearsal dinner and wedding reception. The service and the food were both out-of-this-world! White House worked closely with the rental company and venue staff to be sure that our reception was exactly what we had envisioned. They were particularly helpful in working through some last-minute issues with our venue about floorplans and set-up/delivery times—before I even had time to stress, Christy, Andrew, and David had already sorted everything out with the venue. Our reception was exactly what we wanted, and Andrew was even going out of his way to make plates for me and for my husband from each food station. The food was fantastic, and we are still hearing compliments from our family and guests. I cannot recommend White House Catering highly enough!

The food was one of the main subjects of the wedding. So many people found it all so good and not the stodgy normal wedding fair. We went all Mediterranean, and it was all so authentic. (I know, I come from a Greek family). The cocktail hour fair was so fresh, and delicious. The bartender was great! No one was disappointed.

It was probably the smoothest catering event any gal has ever been through! They took care of all set up and break down, provided all the linens, tables, dishes, flatware, etc. There were no issues with the cake or floral delivery or with my family coming in without me to decorate. They allowed me several visits to the site to figure out table and DJ booth arrangements, as well as, a tasting day for the menu. The food was wonderful - several guests got worried the beef tips were going to run out so they hoarded them on their plates! Of course that didn't happen. The food arrangement was perfect, the alcohol arrangement was perfect - White House Catering was great!

Amazing! The most unique wedding food our guests had ever experienced. We were so impressed during our tasting for the wedding that we booked them for our rehearsal dinner, too! Our rehearsal dinner was at the Old City Bar location. The food was absolutely delicious, and the portions were large. The wedding catering was perfect. White House worked with us to create a unique oyster bar with raw and grilled oysters, which was a hit! They beautifully set up the displays during the cocktail hour. For the dinner, they worked with our long tables to have a family style dinner which ensured our food was hot and our guests were able to interact. The food itself was so delicious. We received so many compliments. White House Catering's staff was great to work with and on point with everything.

they did an excellent job! everyone has been raving about the food ever since the wedding. the only bummer was that they forgot to pack me and my husband to go boxes as promised and neither of us got to eat any of it because we were busy visiting with guests. I am so impressed with David and his staff. They were able to arrange for a completely gluten free wedding for 125 people! The food we chose was gluten free by nature and was so great that NO ONE would have guessed. From my first conversation to the day of the event, they were confident and capable.... Not something we see often with strict dietary concerns. On top of the great service, wonderful food, and professionalism, they were significantly more cost effective than any other catering company in Fredericksburg.

I cannot say enough good things about my experience with White House Catering. They were responsive to emails, and flexible with the menu (and my additions and subtractions to and from the menu). They worked with me to serve alcohol that I had purchased, and also to serve the cake that I had baked. At the event, Jai, Rose, and Gary charmed our guests, moved the bar downstairs for us, and made the entire event go very smoothly. Their pricing was more competitive than other vendors I interviewed. They're completely flexible with menu items, and will make even the tiniest tweaks to their dishes for you. Do yourself a favor, and hire them!

From the moment we met with David, my husband and I were sold on doing business with White House Catering. He helped us design a delicious menu and under our budget! We were blown away with the dishes we sampled at our tasting, which was FREE of charge (unlike other places). We used The City Bar, owned by White House, to host our rehearsal dinner and a welcome party for our out of town guests. We had an italian themed rehearsal dinner, family style, which was phenomenal! We had people texting us during the meal telling us how much they enjoyed the food! The vegetable lasagna was a surprising delight to many of our guests, who were not expecting such a delectable "veggie" dish. For our welcome party, we offered light appetizers and desserts with a southern flaire. The fried green tomatoes and bourbon pecan tarts were gone before we knew it! Everyone was very happy to hear that White House was also catering the wedding, they knew that food would be good! We worked with David to incorporate all of our favorites for Cocktail Hour, including my mother's request - a bruschetta bar! The crab cakes and fried oysters were another hit. The feast continued for our dinner with guests raving about their potato lasagna (I couldn't eat enough of this!) and chicken stuffed with cheddar cheese and almonds. The beef was cooked to perfection and tender, while the salmon with dill sauce was moist and delicious. We can't say enough positive things about our experience and will definitely use White House in the future!!!

White House Catering was on our wedding venue's preferred vendor list, and they were the first people I contacted in regards to food. I talked to several other Richmond catering companies, and they were far and beyond the most responsive, professional, and best value. Andrew was our main contact, and I cannot say enough great things about him. He was so knowledgeable and helped me narrow down my food choices. They do not have a set menu list and let you (literally) pick and type of food you want, so it can be overwhelming. We decided to go with a BBQ southern comfort food theme and it was all delicious!! I had to plan the wedding from 2,000 miles away and never had a chance to meet them in person until a month before the wedding. Even so, I always felt confident they had everything covered. We decided to also use their venue and catering for the rehearsal dinner, and the night went flawlessly. All of our guests at the dinner and the wedding the next night kept saying how much they loved the food, and the waitstaff was so professional. Andrew made sure that we had our dinner at our seats as soon as our first dance was over so we could get food in us before we had to go great all our guests. They also don't charge for cake cutting, and boxed my new husband and I up some of the food so we could eat it later that night in our hotel room (which was great because we were starving!). They also boxed up all leftovers from the wedding for free, and we took it back to the hotel where the after party was, and our guests were able to eat a late dinner while partying. I would absolutely use WHC for any of my future catering needs, and would recommend them immediately to anyone planning a wedding. They are the best in Richmond

We had our wedding reception at The Old City Bar which was catered by White House Catering and we cannot say enough wonderful things about them. From the start David was very accommodating to our wishes to have the menu include some of our favorites like ceviche and scallops. David and his team run an excellent business and were always very quick to respond to my calls and emails. On the day of the wedding I was a little nervous about getting everything set up before my hair/makeup appt. at 11am but this was certainly not an issue. Bill was tasked to work our wedding and was there from start (8am) to finish (after 10pm) and was a absolutely amazing. He tended every need and more, extremely profession and obvious that he has abundant experience and knows how to run a great event. He helped us during set up with the flow of the room and what he had seen work (and not work) and during the reception (and after) we had numerous friends/family that attended tell us how excellent the timing of the food and service was. I would highly recommend White House Catering! Thank you David and Bill for making our reception run so smoothly and for the wonderful food and service!

White House was absolutely fantastic. We used them for both the rehearsal dinner and the wedding itself. We are both foodies, and thus hard to please. David and his staff exceeded our expectations completely. Our family and friends were well taken care of during the reception, and the food was just what we had imagined for our wedding. I would definitely highly recommend White House.

White House Catering did and excellent job providing the food for our rehearsal and reception. They helped us every step of the way when planning our menus and were available to us at the drop of a dime. I loved working with everyone at White House Catering and Old City Bar is a beautiful place for a rehearsal as well! On the wedding day Andrew made sure that everything ran smoothly and that Scott and I were satisfied with all of the food and beverages. I worked with Andrew and White House Catering for the day of the wedding, and everything went absolutely wonderful! We had to change from and outside to inside wedding that morning but no one even knew the difference because the set up was done with out a hitch. White House was one of the best decisions we made in our wedding planning process. The bang for our buck was incredible. More guests than I can count told us the macaroni and cheese was the best they had ever eaten! Christie, Andrew and David were all super flexible and open to our suggestions from the macaroni and cheese bar to a new vegetarian option (delicious stuffed peppers). Not to mention how nice they we were the entire time. Little things like enthusiastic and friendly communication went a long for my husband and me. We would recommend White House to anyone!

David, Andrew, Christy, and the rest of the staff at White House Catering are all amazing!!! Food is very important to us, so this was one of the first things we wanted to check off our list. We had a wonderful tasting with David, and quickly decided to use them as the caterer for our wedding. We also had our rehearsal dinner at The Old City Bar, which is their private venue location downtown. For the rehearsal dinner we had surf-and-turf with lamb chops and rockfish, which were both incredible!!! Our guests LOVED it. For the wedding, we had a mixture of items including crab cake sliders, pulled pork sliders, beef tenderloin carving station, several stationary and passed appetizers, and more. I can't even tell you how many compliments we had on the food at the wedding- our guests LOVED it! Andrew coordinated the staff, bartenders, etc the evening of the wedding and he did a truly fantastic job. We would most certainly recommend White House Catering to anyone!!

White House Catering was very flexible. They worked with us to select great options for our stations, and when rain changed our ceremony site, they were able to seemlessly transition the room from ceremony to reception. The service was outstanding and the food was delicious.

We used WHC for our welcome reception, which had about 100 people. The food was amazing, the service was fantastic, and they catered very well to everything we wanted. We had a lot of dietary restrictions (gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, etc) and they made delicious food for everyone! They were very responsive during the planning process; I never had to wait more than a day for a phone call or email.

David and his staff were wonderful to work with from start to finish...tasting, rentals, great food and service! Our guests are still raving about the tender brisket and delicious appetizers. He even made my mother's homemade chocolate sauce recipe! When rain became evident we had to move the cocktail reception under the tent but it was done so professionally that we didn't even miss the original plan. We are still not sure how they prepared this sit down elegant meal from a small catering tent with a generator! Great job!!

David Napier and staff could not have been more helpful. We wanted reception food from around the globe, from countries the bride and groom had visited. David researched the countries and came up with a delicious menu. We had specific visual images in mind for the tables and the height of the builds on the tables and David and Andrew were very helpful. Every one of our guest who have spoken with us since the wedding have said that it was the "best wedding food ever!" There was plenty to eat and plenty of staff to serve.

Whitehouse catering is the easiest catering company to work with. When planning a wedding, you need vendors that you can count on and who have all the answers to your questions, and that is Whitehouse Catering. They were open to all my ideas or requests and always had excellent suggestions. Whenever I needed answers to questions they were so quick to respond. The staff is a true pleasure to work with and I HIGHLY recommend them for any wedding or event. Not only are they professional but their food is outstanding! I'm still getting comments from our guests on how good the food was, especially the beef brisket!

I found David Napier and staff to be highly professional and very efficient. We didn't have a lot of time to plan PLUS we wanted to have the reception (and of course the wedding) on a Sunday. The staff set up not only the food service but the cake area as well. We had a brunch and I got nothing but rave reviews on the novelty of the food. Unfortunately for us, only about half our guests shown up, The staff didn't miss a beat just packed the left overs all up for us!

I truly cannot say enough good things about White House Catering. Let me just begin by saying KUDOS to the staff. David, Christy, Nicki, and Andrew...all of them went above and beyond for me. Christy, especially, was extremely responsive. Sometimes she would respond within minutes to emails from my mother or me (and we probably sent hundreds). There was no request I made that they could not accommodate. Most impressive to me was their willingness to jump in and cover things, just to help out when other vendors would not. It was a breath of fresh air to work with this company. I experienced so much stress with other vendors and White House just sort of stepped in and relieved a lot of my initial frustrations with the wedding planning process.

The tasting went so well and the food on the night of the wedding was excellent!!! We got a lot of compliments on the menu. If you are considering a wedding caterer I would urge you to look no further. I met with several caterers and no one could meet my expectations like White House. Furthermore, it took weeks to get calls back and quotes from the other caterers I talked to. White House never took longer than 24 hours to respond to any request or question I had. I cannot imagine dealing with anyone else on something as important as the food because White House just made that part easy. Great quality and Superior customer service…I couldn’t ask for more. THANK YOU WHITE HOUSE CATERING FOR EVERYTHING!!!

Flavorful, flexible, well presented, hard working, affordable. I can't say enough about this caterer.

All the details were clearly stated in the contract. There were no smoke and mirrors about the details or what each thing cost. No silly things like cake cutting fees either.

On the day of, their staff flipped the room after the ceremony pretty quickly and that left us the opportunity to enjoy the most out of our reception.

David and the staff at White House catering were fantastic to work with from beginning to end. We wanted something a little different and more involved than you usually find at weddings. We love food and it's been a big part of our relationship and we wanted food stations that reflected our relationship. We wanted a food station that had Virginia flair since that's where we're from; an Indian station since we love Indian food; and a station with food from the Southwest since we lived there for a year. The staff not only embraced our view but incorporated our three themes in the appetizers as well as the stations. The food was impeccable which I was surprised by as everything was different. I had one guest seek me out to tell me it was the best wedding food they had every had! David was hands on from the beginning, with helping to plan the entire menu to sitting with us for the tasting. The staff at the event were incredibly friendly and helpful. Every single one spent the entire night with a huge smile on their face and super helpful. And we got all of this from the least expensive caterer we met with! We couldn't have asked for more. Thank you David!

White House Catering is amazing! The food is delicious without costing an arm and a leg. E-mails are responded to super quickly, which was really important to me as a bride ad they had no problem making changes pretty close to the wedding.
All of the staff showed up on time, and looked very professional in all black. After the ceremony, someone brought the groom and I some appetizers while we were doing pictures. They also prepared our plates for the main course and had them at our tables, which was great because I wouldn't have eaten otherwise. The staff did a good job of keeping tables cleared without being in the way. Whoever my bartenders were, were awesome. I had a signature drink that I forgot to give the recipe for and they figured something out that was delicious without me even having mentioned the ingredients.
Did I mention the food was delicious? They worked with us to create the menu that we wanted for our wedding. We weren't locked into using a specific menu. I'd definitely use White House Catering again!

You cannot go wrong with White House Catering! My husband and I absolutely loved working with David and all of his staff! You will not regret going with White House Catering; they are worth every single penny.

My husband and I planned our wedding from overseas. David and his staff went above and beyond to accommodate us, and to make everything as simple as possible. From the start, the company has been consistently professional, straightforward, responsive, and honest. We were able to do everything through email; the ease with which they handled my requests and questions speaks to how well-run White House Catering is. Their attention to detail and planning capabilities is as close to perfect as humanly possible.

The contract was clear and professionally presented; I knew exactly what we were getting for exactly how much. We did heavy hors d'oeuvres buffet-style, and there were only about 4 take-out boxes worth of leftovers. I thought that was the perfect amount of leftovers, and considered it another testament to David's experience. I know my guests were well fed and we were able to enjoy some food the next day--great planning!

One experience with David really sticks out in my mind: my wedding planner forgot to set up the tasting and first face-to-face meeting we had with David. This was especially bad because my husband and I drove in from 2 hours away for the meeting. David somehow managed to pull the food for our tasting together and meet with us, on-time and with all of our email discussions printed out. Even though he had some huge events coming up, he was relaxed through the meeting and answered all of our questions easily. He was completely prepared for a meeting he had very, very little time to prepare for. That is the quality of service and professionalism you will get with David. Absolutely incredible!

The food: all of the stereotypes about wedding food go out the window when it comes to the masterpieces David provides. All of my guests were raving about how delicious the food was! They suggested a great menu of food I didn't think of and each of the selections complemented the others. His bar staff handled my prior requests for alcohol distribution perfectly (we did an open bar); my guests were very happy with the drinks.

Overall, I have no complaints about White House Catering, and I fully recommend them with no reservations!

I loved this caterer. Christy, my contact, responded to ALL of my e-mails quickly and she was so kind and helpful. The food was absolutely delicious and the service both evenings was seamless. I am pretty sure that no one will forget that mac and cheese or the crab bisque - seriously, people were raving about it all night. Whitehouse catered our daughter's wedding and the service they provided was exceptional. The food was fresh, flavorful and attractively displayed from start to finish. Guests commented favorably on everything from the Crispy Asiago Asparagus Spears to the Grilled Salmon and Wild Mushroom Risotto. Many indicated that it was the best food they'd ever had at a wedding. It's hard to keep food warm and attractively displayed (we went with two buffet lines) for 210 guests but Whitehouse pulled it off. David Napier was extremely helpful during the tasting and helped us select the perfect seasonal menu. He and his staff were responsive throughout the entire process and were also flexible about a couple of last minute requests. David was present during our event and made sure everything went smoothly and according to our timeline. His staff discreetly kept tables clean and tidy during the reception. I wholeheartedly recommend Whitehouse Catering without reservation!

David Napier and his team are GOOD! Their service is good, their professionalism is good, their FOOD is good... everything! They will let you choose your own menu (which is AWESOME for a bride) and they will make things easy and simple. If I ever need a caterer again, I will ONLY use Whitehouse. They were amazing. The food was priced below my budget and tasted wonderful. David met with me personally twice at the venue to help me plan everything. They took care of every little detail from table placement to setting up tealights in centerpieces. Emmit, who was in charge at the actual event, was amazing. He was on top of everything. He personally made sure we got food before the buffet was opened to everyone else. The bartender made sure I got the last glass of my husband's home brew and sent it to me. Their service was impeccable and I would highly recommend them to anyone for any function! Looking at prices for other caterers, I cannot believe I got such good quality food and service for the amazing price.

The food was delicious and there was plenty to go around (we had a buffet at the reception). The plated rehearsal dinner ran smoothly and the service was very professional. For the money, White House offers a full-service catering experience without the added costs for cake-cutting, bottle-opening, etc. They didn�t nickel and dime us at all. They even coordinated our supply rentals with another company at no extra cost to us. David (the owner) was present during both events, which was a nice touch. We would definitely recommend using White House catering for a wedding or any other event. They were terrific!

You never even knew the servers were in the room. The food was perfect, exactly what our son wanted. It tasted wonderful. People thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

David,Christy, Andrew and the rest of the White House staff were phenomenal! From beginning to end they have been great to work with and were all super receptive to my questions and emails.
David did a great job customizing the menu for our reception of international travel. We even got to have some our favorite foods including monkfish,creme brûlée and sushi. Since the wedding on Saturday we have received numerous calls to tell us how delicious the food was and how the menu was so unique.
In addition to DELICIOUS food( best food at a wedding...people had ever had) David and his team provided exceptional service. My entire bridal party was fed before we were introduced. There was never an empty glass or a dirty plate in sight. Everyone was always smiling and they created special dishes for my groom and I. David and Christy even worked to coordinate the color of the bridesmaids dresses with the linens.
Whenever I emailed the team a question I received a response almost immediately and they let me tweak the menu and bar offerings throughout the process. I would recommend White House to anyone as the food and service at my wedding was exceptional.

Having good food at the wedding was of utmost importance to my fiancé and me, and White House did not disappoint. I found White House through a list of recommended vendors for our venue, so I set up a meeting with Christy, who was very personable and knowledgeable. She helped to customize an amazing menu that was within the budget. After the tasting, we knew we had to hire White House. Throughout the whole wedding planning process, Christy was quick to respond to any questions I had –she was also extremely patient with me! David was wonderful as well. He came to several meetings we had with the coordinators and the venue manager. He was very knowledgeable about the lay of the land at the venue and about what would work best in terms of layout and so forth. It was evident that he knew what he was doing!
The day of the wedding, everything went off without a hitch thanks to the White House staff. I had multiple people come up to me to tell me how great the food was – especially the macaroni and cheese bar. I was happy that I actually got to eat some of it! My only disappointment was that the dessert bar was not presented as discussed, but in the grand scheme of things it was a minor one. Everyone loved it. The White House staff was awesome and the food was fantastic.

White House Catering is wonderful. David and Christy are both very professional and knowledgeable. I'm vegetarian and have a few vegan friends, and David went out of his way to make sure there were vegetarian and vegan appetizers and entrees readily available. We did a surf and turf entree, which was a big hit. A good family friend has a really bad fin-fish allergy. I told David in advance who had the allergy and what table he was sitting at. The plate was delivered with a double order of meat, no problem. My guest did not even have to ask for a special plate.

I got my own ABC license and bought my own alcohol. The trickiest part was figuring out how much to buy. David and Christy helped with that, but I think my friends drank more than expected. But it all worked out. The bartenders were great.

Food was delicious. I received lots of compliments from guests.

I also planned my wedding from out-of-town, and it worked out to set up a couple meetings with David on days I was visiting and handle everything else by email.

Overall, I would highly recommend White House Catering. I found David and his staff to be genuinely nice people who enjoy what they do and want to help make successful events. It was a great value for great food with good service.

Excellent Deal

We had a great experience with White House Catering for our wedding. All of our guests raved about the food, especially the mac and cheese! The prices were extremely reasonable compared to other catering companies we looked into and they were very flexible. The communication was not always as timely as we would have hoped, but in the end everything came off without a hitch.

My wife and I spent a lot of time researching caterers for our wedding. We both considered the food to be one of the most important aspects of our wedding. We could not have been happier with White House Catering. Over a month after the wedding, people are still telling us how delicious the brisket was. And what’s even better is that they custom made a menu for us that had all of our favorite foods, at a price much lower than the one-size-fits-all wedding caterers. Christy and Michele worked with us to make our wedding reception go off without a hitch. They even helped us coordinate with the other vendors (outside linen and china rentals are needed) and assisted with alcohol estimates (we provided our own). We highly recommend White House Catering!

I recently used White House Catering for my October wedding. I can't even begin to tell you how many rave reviews my husband and I have had about the food! It was SO good! The thing that attracted us to them was their flexibility with the menu - they were able to create a menu that reflected us as a couple (me and my New England roots and my husband and his Southern roots) in a cost effective, but absolutely delicious way. My only "complaint" was that the staff didn't do a very good job making sure the bridal party got appetizers. We had to flag them down as they walked by us to the kitchen. But that complaint has more to do with my not getting more of the delicious appetizers. I highly recommend this company.

I felt that David Napier and Christy Boehnlein went above and beyond during the entire planning process. When first looking for a caterer, Christy responded to my initial inquiry immediately and had a sample menu in my inbox the next day. The food was so delicious that we ended up using them for our rehearsal dinner as well. They have a restaurant space in downtown Richmond that they rent out for private events only. The only thing that went wrong was we ran out of some drink mixers at the bar during the reception, but it did not hinder anyone from having a great time and it was an overall great experience.

Our experience with White House catering was fantastic.

White House catering won us over from Day #1 with their responsiveness, friendliness, and their vast experience. These guys are the real deal. So you can imagine how pleased we were to taste the food and find out THAT was the real deal too. Absolutely delicious.

David was always willing to meet with us whenever we had questions and Christy was always responding to our emails in a matter of hours instead of days. I am a person who needs to plan out everything, so I was always sending them emails and calling with questions. They were super responsive compared to other caterers we first contacted who never e-mailed us back. In addition to all the phone calls and e-mails, we had an amazing tasting where David walked us through each dish and we got to try everything. We loved it.

In the lead up to the event itself, we had Andrew running our event and setup. He worked very closely with our rental company and the folks there setting up to make sure everything was in place and ready for the event. At the event itself, everything ran smoothly and the staff was extremely professional, going above and beyond their job duties in some cases.

In a big wedding like ours with many vendors and tons of moving parts and pieces, there are bound to be a few hiccups. We had a few minor logistical things that we'd discussed with David that it appears didn't get communicated to the crew at the reception site. However, these were minor issues and nothing that got in the way of our amazing day.

So, in short, if you like amazing food, professional staff, and people who will work hard to make your day special, I definitely recommend White House catering.

We LOVED our caterer and the food that we had for our wedding! We had the six cheese macaroni and cheese which everyone still raves about complete with assorted toppings. White House Catering went above and beyond in every category. Only reason why I gave 4 stars for responsiveness was due to some miscommunications for tasting dates. Didn't change my opinion at all though on the quality of the food or the catering company! We loved them!

White House Catering was a great choice for our wedding this past October. Food was wonderful and guests all really seemed to enjoy it. Between the staff and my day of coordinator our drinks were always full! Cocktail hour was a huge hit with Mediterranean themed food! The team is great to work with on planning, making changes easily and offering pairing suggestions. Would recommend WHC for future brides.

We were very happy with White House catering. We used them for both our rehearsal dinner (at Old City Bar, the venue that they own in Shockoe Bottom) as well as the main event (at Mankin Mansion). The food was excellent both nights. Everything came out the right temperature, it was very tasty, and the service was excellent. Our wedding was somewhat complicated, food-wise, because some of my family keeps kosher. So while we didn't have kosher food there, we did have three choices of entree (beef, fish, and vegetarian). The beef and fish were amazing; the vegetarian entree was pretty good. They were also very easy to deal with when doing the planning in the run-up to the big day.

Delicious food ("best mac n' cheese I've ever had!") and extremely professional!

We were extremely pleased with the catering from White House Catering! They provided a custom menu for our Southern barbecue buffet, and the entire process of planning, tasting and finalizing everything was very easy! They were accommodating of last minute adjustments to the menu too. We've gotten great feedback from guests on how delicious the food was - one guest said their mac n' cheese was "the best I've ever had!" The staff was also EXTREMELY professional and courteous - they setup quickly and quietly and took care of everything. You can tell they run a smooth operation and do events all the time! From the cleanup staff to the bartender, everyone was polite and helpful. Thanks White House Catering for making our wedding food experience so stress-free and delicious!

We used White House Catering for a bbq rehearsal dinner and the food was excellent! All weekend our guests were talking about the mac & cheese. They were great to work with, very helpful with our supplies rental and great with the setup.

The food was amazing! We highly recommend White House catering. In planning, Christy was extremely responsive and helpful. She helped us decide alcohol amounts, rentals, etc eventhough we were providing our own. She answered every email same day. Really easy to work with. David had terrific food ideas as well as reception flow ideas. Jai was an encouraging captain on the wedding day. There was one snafu (salads did not arrive on time). Jason dealt with this quickly and decisively running out to the market to in order to create 115 salads with only a 20 minute delay. Good communication with MOB and DJ- they covered the issue. No one got irritated. The food was brilliant and everyone raved. We had a largely southern menu - hor'doevres (butlered and stationary), aforementioned served salads, and buffet dinner. The scallops, fried green tomatos, and brisket were my favs. This is the second time we have used David Napier's WH Catering....can't wait to have an occasion to use them again. We were grateful to enjoy a few more days of the delicious food (they sent us home with the leftovers). I didn't add, they were extremely reasonably priced! They found a menu that could achieve our goals with our budget...smart and sane way to approach a wedding. I only scored them 4.5 because it wasn't "perfect"...salad issue. It was really close to perfect however and I'd use them again in a heartbeat. Wouldn't even bother to call anyone else. Many locals asked us who was catering and planned to save the name for their event/wedding.

Our event was a Rehearsal Dinner which is not an option in your drop down menu, and I would suggest adding this type of event to your list.
Our initial meeting was with David Napier, the owner of White House Catering. We felt a connection immediately and we were very pleased with the entire event. They were accommodating, very responsive to questions along the way, and flexible. The servers and our event manger were superior. It was a wonderful event.

We met with David three times over the course of 8 months. Of all the things we asked for and agreed upon in these meetings, about the only thing that materialized was the food on the menu. Here is a list of things they did that surprised us on our wedding day:

1. Changed the contract end of service time without us knowing and called last call 1:15 early - 2 of them were nice enough to stick around after this - they tried to make things right.

2. Told us they would provide a "meat carver" to cut and distribute main dish in buffet line, who was not present at the actual reception.

3. Met with them on Wednesday before the wedding to ask them to serve champagne to tables for a toast. We did not want to serve champagne to all of our guests because some may not have wanted it, so we asked them to pour some glasses initially and go around to serve guests at their tables. After they went through the initial glasses, we asked that they go to the tables (as before) and ask guests without champagne if they would like some and pour single glasses from therein. They ended up pouring 25 glasses of champagne and letting it sit on a table - no table service. When we realized that the toasts were started and no one had champagne, we had to stop the toasts. The toasts were even further delayed they were then completely unprepared to pour additional glasses.

4. On same Wednesday meeting, asked them to only open one red and one white wine only to show up and see 6 different kinds of wines open.

5. They had agreed to serve my home-brewed beer and, on the same Wednesday meeting, told us that the bar tender would pour this beer for our guests, but we showed up to the reception only to see people drinking homebrew from bottles (homebrew contains enough yeast at the bottom to put you in the bathroom for the entire reception, if you have a sensitive stomach)

6. They agreed on Wednesday to setup the flowers for us at the reception hall before the reception. We showed up with the flowers to hear them tell us that it was not in their job description to do this.

7. They did not put out plates at the dessert table after we had asked for this on Wednesday. We had to ask for plates on the dessert table after the table was half gone.

8. Instead of refilling the cookies and cupcakes on trays on the dessert table, they put them out on the tables in the plastic containers or wax paper they were being stored in, and not on the cookie trays or cupcake tower.

9. We had a signature drink at the reception and furnished all of the ingredients to make the signature drink with a recipe. They did not follow our recipe for the signature drink. We had a bottle of alcohol left over (now I know why people were telling me that they wished the punch was stronger) and one other ingredient. This was as simple as following direction on a piece of paper and adding 5 liquids together in a jug.

We were very displeased with White House Catering. I told them that we were unhappy with their service at the end of the night - I still have not received a call from them to talk about all of the misfires. I will say that they food was very good and was not all that expensive (Value for Cost). When we asked for something at the reception, they were generally able to take care of it (but the problem was that we had to notice this ahead of time.) (Responsiveness). I ranked them low for Flexibility because they seemed to flexible in discussions, but there was little in the way of putting these plans into action. I gave the "0's" for Quality and Professionalism because when you fail to do things that you were asked to do, agreed to do and were paid to do, it is lazy and unprofessional.This company appeared to be very poorly organized and lack streamlined communication, where our thoughts and idea were given to the the boss and passed down the chain to those who actually provided the service. I think White House Catering should definitely be considered if you have a wedding coordinator or planner, or someone who can babysit the company and make sure that everything is taken care of before it happens. However, we did not choose that luxury and for that reason, I would not go with them again. There are too many other caterers out there who can make good food and execute a reception service plan.

Our wedding was made nothing but worse by having White House cater our event. They seem so great in the meetings leading up to our event, but please do yourself a favor and choose someone else...there are too many great caterers in this area to gamble on such a big part of your wedding. What went wrong:
1. They promised us that they'd take care of the bridal party since we had to miss cocktail hour. David personally promised that he'd bring coolers and appetizers to us while we did our pictures and this never happened. He promised the groomsmen and bridesmaids a private cocktail hour since they weren't allowed to go up to cocktail hour. This wouldn't have been a big deal except...
2. DINNER WAS SERVED BEFORE OUR BRDIAL PARTY AND US WERE ANNOUNCED IN!! While we were being announced in everyone was standing around the food stations and it was a mess. So, even though we were promised to be able to eat first (a very important thing because we had to start rounding right away) we weren't able to eat because the lines were so long. My poor bmaids and gmen didn't get to eat for another hour at least.
3. They started serving on PLASTIC PLATES. Even though I spent an arm and a leg on nice plates, they started using plastic wear! My poor father ate his meal with a plastic knife and fork and plate. At least I guess there was a knife, because at first they forgot to bring knives and people had to gnaw at their steak like animals.
4. Even though I requested that they pour the beer into glassware, they just handed out bottles and cans.
5. At the end of the evening one of their bartenders just started giving our extra alcohol away! Even though we were told to buy our own booze, despite the extra hassle, they said it would save us money because we could always return the extra. There was a lot of extra, but this bartender took it upon herself to start handing out the extra handles and cases of beer.
6. You get promied "take away" boxes because you really don't get to eat a whole lot during your wedding. We never got these and as we didn't get to eat because of the dinner mess, we were starving by the time we got to the hotel and had to order room service.

I e-mailed David with these complaints and he never responded - completely unprofessional. Please, please do yourself a favor and go with another catering company. I am kicking myself for not choosing Mosaic or any of the other dozens of catering businesses here.
