Universal Light & Sound did a phenomenal job at our wedding at Hamilton Loft! We loved their tool that was specifically designed for our venue so we could map out what lighting we wanted where. As a winter wedding, we knew we didn’t have much natural light so we were heavily relying on the lighting to create the cozy mood we wanted. The team was so responsive and absolutely delivered on our vision. Everything was beautiful. We can’t recommend them enough!

Lighting elevated the mood and was a must have!
If I had one piece of advice for any future brides, it would be to not skip lighting! I am so glad I went with ULS for my wedding at the Palm House at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. The uplighting in the cocktail hour and reception space made the atmosphere so cozy and inviting and really elevated the evening. While I did not get to meet Mark in person, he was also prompt and easy to work with over email, and he was even flexible when our venue required us to move away from an original plan that included outdoor string lights. Overall, I’d recommend ULS for your special event - especially if it’s happening at BBG.

Getting our lightning done for our wedding with Universal Light and Sound was so easy and convenient. Prior to the wedding we had a great conversation with one of their representatives who was very helpful in terms of what lightning we’d need to set the atmosphere how we wanted it to be. We felt very comfortable with the whole process. On the day of the wedding itself it went so smoothly we didn’t even notice them! The best lighting and equipment rental in the business!!
Universal Light and Sound really helped us to bring the vision of our wedding to light in the open concept space we rented to host our wedding in Brooklyn, NY. Mark was prompt with his replies, really knowledgeable about advising us about the various options, and patient with my millions of questions about which lighting options would work best with the venue that I rented (because they’ve serviced clients there many times before). He always thought about my budget which is a godsend when you’re managing everything as a DIY bride. There were expensive options I considered that he advised me against because he knew my venue already came equipped with the same thing. Setup was timely and takedown at the end of the night was as well which was important for our venue that needed everything out by 2am. In sum, Universal Light and Sound was more than a vendor but a trusted partner when the stress of our wedding was at its peak, they did everything to let us know we were in great hands. The cherry on top!

Universal Light and Sound was a dream to work with for our wedding lights. They were super quick to respond to inquiries and questions, understood the look we were going for immediately, and were incredibly easy to book. Hire ULS for Greenpoint Loft!
We just had our wedding at Greenpoint Loft, and we would hire ULS a billion times over. Greenpoint Loft is an empty space, so the lighting, florals, etc are all the more important in order to give the venue some feel. We knew having some sort of additional lighting would be key, but we didn't really expect guests to take too much notice. However, we were getting compliments right and left from guests about the icicle lights we put over the main dance floor. We also chose to put string lights over the guest tables on the sides, and uplighting around the pillars and perimeter walls of the main space. Even our caterer, who has been to a ton of Greenpoint Loft weddings, kept commenting on how well done the lighting / decor was. Mark from ULS was extremely easy to work with, and he answered our many questions about what lights would look best in which locations, without ever pushing us. The ULS website is a little confusing, but once you get the hang of it, it's well worth it. Again, thank you so much Mark and team!!!

We didn’t realize how important lighting was going to be for our wedding but Universal Lighting absolutely MADE our wedding! Our dinner was outdoors and without the gorgeous string and accent lighting the whole event would have had a completely different vibe. Even the band was lit up as though we were at an actual concert. Universal was very helpful and easy to work with. They helped make our wedding day perfect!

Mark brought our vision to life!
Mark and his crew went above and beyond to make our wedding day perfect. Mark was very communicative and answered all of my questions throughout the wedding planning process (DURING A PANDEMIC). He was flexible when we had to reschedule our original wedding date due to COVID and very kind when we had to adjust our original lighting plan due to a scaled back budget. What I really loved about Mark and his team is that they give you ideas re: what is possible depending on what you want. Mark made our dancefloor fun and exciting, with club like-lights but kept the ceremony and reception classy & chic with simple string lights inside of the venue and in our outdoor tent. It was exactly what we wanted. I highly recommend this vendor for lighting! Whether you’re having a big party or intimate gathering, Mark is an expert at light/sound and will surely help bring your vision to life.

Magical lighting

Gorgeous lighting and drapery
Going into our wedding, we had a large, undecorated tent which badly needed a sense of class and elegance. After contacting Mark, he knew EXACTLY what to do to get us the look we wanted. He & his team helped us out with beautiful lighting and drapery, and a great mic/speaker setup to boot!
The event was in a public area, and all day long, folks walking by the event turned their heads to see what was taking place in this gorgeous, luminescent area that Universal created. On top of everything else, pricing was very reasonable, and Mark was totally understanding about adapting to unforeseen surprises due to the event taking place during COVID times. Definitely recommend!

Absolutely Beautiful Lights for Our Wedding
Universal Light and Sound provided the string lights for our wedding and we absolutely love how their design came out! We were going for a summer garden theme and our venue didn't have any string lights of their own to use at the venue, so we looked for a third party vendor and we cannot express how happy we were with the final result.
Having a theatre background, we know that often the best lighting is the kind that goes unnoticed, but in this case we had guests asking, "Did these lights come with the venue?!" and exclaiming how "pretty" and "romantic" the lighting looked, so noticing the lighting was a huge compliment.
The company was super easy to work with. I think they might have also been the only vendor we worked with who didn't require a deposit way ahead of time? If I remember correctly, we just paid the whole amount in full a week or so in advance?
Universal Light and Sound also worked with us on the design and suggested a messy/random look with the lights, which I hadn't originally thought of, but it looked so pretty and whimsical in the end that I'm really glad we went with that instead of calculated rows or zig-zags.
I'm so happy I had a chance to thank the technician who set up and took down the lights at the end of the night because I always imagined a wedding venue with pretty string lights and it was all that I hoped for and more! Would 100% recommend to anyone planning their wedding!

Mark was so helpful with planning the lighting for our wedding day. It helped that he worked often at our venue 26 Bridge before and knew exactly what would look good in the space. When we described the layout of the room and the vibe we were looking for he knew exactly what would be best and didn’t try to sell us on extra stuff. He was honest about what would also make an impact vs not even be noticed (considering our wedding was in summer it was going to be fairly bright in the space for half the wedding). I wouldn't say I'm a bridezilla but I do like my research :) Mark was nothing but fantastic with the bajillion questions I had. I reached out to multiple lighting vendors but let me save you guys time: GO WITH MARK! He's the most reasonably priced, responsive, accommodating lighting vendor ever! You will not regret it!
We also had a neon sign that had 2 small holes for hanging on a green wall (from our florist). I wouldn't say the green wall was made for things to be hung on it but Mark made it happen!

When I walked into the venue on the day of the wedding, I was truly blown away. Very responsive at all times of the day, and true to his word on maintaining quotes and pricing even with gaps in correspondence on my end. Setup and takedown went off without a hitch, and the lighting was perfect for the venue. Mark also was a great resource to bounce ideas off of and wasn't looking to upsell us on more or different lights- his suggestions were in line with our thoughts and expectations. Would recommend Universal to anyone!

The icicle lighting and uplighting made our reception space was just beautiful! It was amazing to dance our all nights as if we were under the stars. Our guest were all impressed by the look and atmosphere created by the lights! We are so glad we found Universal Lighting. They were easy to work with and are competitively priced! I am so pleased that we brought on ULS to help light our wedding venue, The Dumbo Loft. At the last minute, my now-husband and I were panicking that there wouldn't be enough visual interest and light in our space, so we emailed Mark at ULS less than two weeks before the wedding to ask what they could do. They were a preferred vendor of the Dumbo Loft, and had lots of examples on the site of the different lighting configurations they could do. Mark replied in less than 24 hours and was able to get us a very reasonable quote, and offered a reduced rate if we could pay cash day-of, which we were very happy to do. We signed them up, and they did a gorgeous set up with string lights over the dance floor and up lights all around the perimeter of the room. I unfortunately did not get to meet any of the team as they set up before we arrived and broke down after we left, but everything looked exactly as I had envisioned and really added a special touch to our day. I couldn't have asked for more, and would not hesitate to recommend ULS to any couple looking to add a little something extra to their special day.

We used Universal light and Sound for our daughter's wedding at the Brooklyn Winery in June. They were very professional and courteous. The whole process from beginning to end was seamless. The string lights added wonderful ambience to the venue and the occasion! Would definitely used them again and recommend them highly to friends and family!

We had an amazing experience with Mark and the team at ULS. They were super responsive, accommodated our last minute requests, and even answered the phone at 2am the night of our wedding to field questions. The lighting was beautiful and really complemented the decor. Would definitely recommend.

I had a great experience with Universal Light and Sound for my wedding at The Greenpoint Loft in Brooklyn. Mark was extremely responsive and thorough with his replies and options. The day-of team was efficient in both set-up and breakdown, and the lighting both indoor and outdoor was completely perfect. I definitely recommend these guys, and would use them again in the future.

We hired Universal to be our main audio and video vendor. We used a second vendor as they didn't have some of the equipment that we needed.
As our wedding venue was completely bare and not particularly bright, as well as we had a lot of visual needs, we hired a lot of equipment from them which included:
- String lights - for general lighting
- Up lights - for general lighting
- Intelligent lights - for dance hour and performance
- Projector and projector screen - for video play back
- Chiffon drapes - for separating ceremony, cocktail area and reception
- Disco ball - for dance hour and performance
- Hanging our own foam board decor - for thematic decor
- Hanging our own lanterns - for thematic decor
- Pin spot light - for sweetheart table
What we appreciated
- The team came earlier as requested as we had a lot of equipment to set up before the ceremony.
- They also figured out ways to hang the decor without a proper beam to hang them from.
- The projector screen was hung at the wrong point and they immediately fixed it without a single whimper.
- They also threw in a disco ball as it got lost in translation during the quote process and they had one on hand.
All in all -- the wedding went smoothly when it came to their part, especially the intelligent lights which looked stunning during dance hour and the performances we had lined up.
We absolutely recommend Universal to anyone who needed AV for their wedding or any other event.

Working with Universal was a breeze. They are super affordable and flexible, and were really easy to work with. Setup during the day of my wedding went super smoothly. Mark and the team at ULS-NYC literally made my wedding vision come alive at the Dumbo Loft. They did an amazing job with the lighting, but what made them stand out to me was the care and design sense they had when hanging bunting flags made of African print material (which had major sentimental value to me). I was super nervous how the finished product would look but they executed it brilliantly. Yay! Thank you!

We used Universal for our June 9 Greenpoint Loft wedding and they did an awesome job! My (now) husband kept wanting to add lights to the package we already decided on, and even drew sketches of what he wanted for me to send Universal. We had our wedding at Brooklyn Winery. ULS provided string lights in both rooms, which really made it special. ULS was easy to work with. ULS was so accommodating and helpful as we prepared to plan our first annual black tie charity gala. We were limited with budget as this event was hosted by a non-profit and had to choose the least expensive string lighting option. To my pleasant surprise, ULS still gave us the works! The lights totally made the space. I will 100% use ULS for our lighting needs next year.
