Tipsy Cake provided a reasonably priced, beautiful wedding cake for our summer 2011 wedding. My husband loves carrot cake, and Tipsy Cake was the best carrot cake/wedding cake option. The cake was tasty and met all of our needs

We had two cakes from tipsy cake and they were both beautiful and delicious. They were easy to work with and created exactly what I wanted!

First, I'd like to say that our wedding cake and cupcakes from Tipsycakes were wonderful. They tasted marvelous and just as good as our initial tasting. The cakes were delivered on time and looked fabulous.

While Tipsycake followed through on service, they did give me a minor panic attack 4 days before the wedding. We purchased a small square topper with 100 cupcakes for our wedding day with delivery and a cupcake stand. We got a great deal from Tipsycake, including the use of their cake stand free of charge, and paid off our cake in full in September 2010 for our wedding on May 15, 2011.

Fast forward to four days before the wedding. Naomi calls, and demands a credit card number to hold on file for use of their cupcake stand. Apparently their stand had been stolen a couple of times recently, and she wanted me to take liability and return the cake stand on Sunday and charge me $250 if we didn't return it on time. I received this phone call at work, and I asked if I could call her back since this was a lot to process and I wanted to discuss some options with my caterer. This is literally the response I received: "It's really isn't all that much to process, I need an answer now."

I had thought that everything was taken care of, and a bride ESPECIALLY doesn't want to hear that I might potentially be changed an extra $250 4 days before the wedding. She also proceeded to tell me that we signed the contract saying that we would return the cupcake stand on Sunday... which was a problem since our wedding was on Sunday and that would be impossible to deliver the cakestand to them the day of the wedding. When I looked over our contract later, our wedding date was clearly marked and the contract stated that the stand wasn't due until the day after our event... which would make the day to return the stand on Monday NOT Sunday, which she vehemently told me that was when it was due.

After I burst into tears on the phone, she lightened up, but not without suggestiing that she talk to someone else since I couldn't handle the situation. I called our caterer, the Entertaining Company, who let us use a cupcake stand free of charge, so everything worked out in the end. I was a little worried that our cake may not be delivered on the right day after the whole confusion on when the cake stand should be returned but it was there on time, beautiful and tasty.

I would visit the shop again for their tasy treats, but I am not sure I would order another cake again. The first time was too much stress/hassle and I did not need to be treated that way on the phone. Even though she might have had some untrustworthy customers in the past does not mean she needed to take it out on me.

Naomi and her staff knocked it out of the park on my groom's cake! It was exactly what I wanted and he was so suprised! My husband and I are baseball rivals, him Sox and me Cubs, and Naomi came up with the idea of making a baseball hat of each team and a hotdog in the middle with the word "truce" in between. Not only did it look amazing, it was delicious! Everyone loved the chocolate cake with peanut-butter filling! I will definitely use Tipsycake for any speciality cakes in the future!

Great value for the cost. the cake was beautiful and exactly what we imagined only better. cake was delicious as well, not dry like most wedding cakes. lots of flavors available to choose from and very flexible on providing what was asked.

I ordered my Groom's cake thru Tipsy Cake and was SOOO excited and pleased with the outcome! I presented the cake to my groom as a surprise at the rehearsal dinner and he was soo excited!

When I was looking for bakeries to make this cake, I knew it was going to be expensive based on the type of cake I was having made. I wanted a replica full size guitar cake made to look like one of my groom's favorite guitars.

I called around and was getting quotes from $300-1300! When I finally reached Tipsy Cake, they were so nice to work within my budget! They were so generous in doing that cake for more than 50% off what they originally quoted me- it was obvious that they wanted my business, and I really appreciated that!

The cake was made to look EXACTLY like the guitar, was delivered on time, and even LIT up! It was good too! Chocolate with oreo cream filling....

Thank you for making this cake within my budget and making our rehearsal dinner all that more perfect!

Naomi's cake is the best we have ever tasted, however, her customer service is aweful. She had us pay a $25 fee for cake tasting and said it would be taken off of our $1000 wedding Cake price. She did not honor that. We also gave her a $75 deposit to make us truffles for our wedding, however, when we received the samples, they were not at all what we asked for, and she refused to refund the $75.00. Also, our shower cake she made, as well as the Wedding Cake was not enough for the amount of people we told her we needed to serve. I would not recommend her at all.

What can I say? Naomi and her crew were THE BEST! She asked great questions to find out more about us, listened to want we wanted, and graciously displayed her professional experience. I felt very comfortable and confident that our cake was going to be fabulous. As the bride, I didn't have to worry about anything.

Once we decided and left the store, it was a piece of cake! We didn't have to worry about delivery, cutting, packaging afterwards, etc. I had great compliments regarding taste and before cutting, found many guests snapping photos of our 3-tiered humurous display. It was a riot!

Thanks so much, Naomi! We will definitely be calling you in the future to make us more great cakes.

Our cake was beautiful and delicious. The only reason I am not giving a 5, is because the customer service was not the best. We had trouble getting hold of Naomi on the phone with some questions, and we were told it's easier to email, but when we emailed, we never got a response at all, so we had to keep calling until we got our questions answered. It was very frustrating, but in the end, everything turned out fine, and we got many compliments on the cake.

Tipsy Cake was a recommendation from our wedding coordinator, KJS Weddings. In fact, I think she is running a special with them right now -- book her coordination services and receive a free wedding cake.

Initially, we found Naomi intimidating and slightly abrasive. I voiced a concern about fondant, hoping to go with butter cream instead (no one I have ever spoken to actually likes to eat fondant). I took the approach, "I care more about the cake's taste, then its looks," which did not go over well. Her response was, "Everything I make tastes good." Fair enough. We pushed forward.

The tasting was fun and delicious -- we were sold on the toffee crunch filling. Yum! We chose three different flavor/filling combinations for our 3-tier cake - chocolate with toffee crunch filling, carrot cake with cream cheese filing, and apple spice with maple cream filling. I loved that she offered some creative flavors without a huge mark-up!

I showed her a few of the ideas we were headed towards with the location and decor, and allowed her to run free with creativity. "Based off my ideas, you design something you think will look great." Naomi had worked in our venue before (Byron Colby Barn) and insisted that the cake be large, or else it would look teeny-tiny in such a space. She came back with her design via e-mail: "Square, 3-tier, Burgundy FONDANT cake with Wraphia." I was VERY hesitant (shocked? disappointed?) to see fondant in the quote. However, after talking to my coordinator, we decided to let her to her thing. Naomi's profile cakes are so beautiful, who am I to tell her how to decorate? (And she did say she doesn't make anything that tastes bad.)

Naomi's prices were very reasonable. Between her quote, the choices we were able to pick for fillings/flavors and her impressive cake gallery, we chose her.

Then the big day: I walked into the venue and was slightly shocked by the very large (very dull :/ ) brown cake sitting in the middle of the room. It did turn out slightly better in photos than I thought it looked in person. I hope I get to post a photo with this review and I will include it. I doubt this particular cake will make it onto her website, or into her photo album at the store. My husband thinks she may have allowed a student or assistant to make it. If you look at the filling layers once it has been cut, they are quite hap-hazard.

The cake was much bigger than what I expected (I assume she did us a favor' by making the cake so large - see comment about venue above.) However, it was so large that we had the ENTIRE LOWER BOTTOM portion left over!) The fondant, as expected, did not go over well. The leftover tier was carrot cake, so this is what I have had the most experience tasting. I will tell you -- something is not quite right about it. It is made with VERY heavy cream -- no one in the family can eat much of it without getting a stomach ache.

Now finally, I will be honest with you. I wrote Tipsy Cake a note, thanking them for their services. They delivered a cake, as promised, at the correct place and on-time. I sincerely believe I was given a "deal" with the cake being so large. I also believe there aren't many other places that would have allowed me to pick the flavors I did and decorate the cake at all for the price I paid. THAT is why I give a 3.3/5.0 and not less. Was it a perfect cake? Not in my mind, no. I was happy? Of course, it was my wedding day.

Tipsycake in Chicago was wonderful. Naomi, the owner was always prompt in replying to me questions and was flexible with my time frames. The cake was beautiful! It tasted wonderful and it was exactly what I wanted. I would recommend tipsycake in Chicago to anyone, they did an excellent job and I have no complaints.

Naomi at Tipsycake is one of my favorite people I met during wedding planning. From the second I walked in "just to get some cupcakes" she knew I was a bride scoping out the place. The moment DH and I tasted the cupcakes, we were sold. We had one of our best moments of wedding planning doing our official cupcake tasting. About 10 frostings and different flavored cakes...that's what we call bliss. Naomi was great helping us pick out 4 unique flavors which ended up being a HUGE hit at the wedding. Mmm, think I might have to go after some red velvets this weekend.

Our cake was beautiful and delicious and the price was very reasonable. The only problem we had was our caterer had a hard time cutting the cake for some reason which resulted in big slices and we ran out of cake. It was not that big of a deal b/c most everyone got a slice but still. I am not sure if this was a problem with the caterer or the cake, our design was very simple too. But I still reccomend them!

We met with Naomi, and she gave us a bit of a hard sell, but the samples were great. She completely sold us on her passion fruit butter cream, and she helped us pick a cake design. We brought a few pictures in, and our cake at the wedding looked exactly like the picture. It was perfect. We got a different type of cake for each of our layers, and each layer tasted great, although I couldn't taste the passion fruit butter cream I was so excited about, and the color of one of the layers seemed a little intense (really really yellow). But I was more concerned about the taste, which was excellent (especially the fondant! amazing). Naomi followed up with me right after the wedding, and was very professional and responsive. I would recommend using her in the future. My mother-in-law also used her for our rehearsal dinner cake, which was really cute and tasted great as well.

When we went to the bakery first it was about a year before the wedding and we decided right then and there that was where we wanted the cake from. I loved cupcakes and wanted something different for our wedding. we decided for cupcakes and loved them all. we had 5 different kind of flavors with 5 different kind of frostings they were just beautiful and people loved it at our wedding. it was so much more convenient. I would recomend tipsy cake and i might go there for our future cakes once again.
