It was amazing. I could not image having it any other place. The staff was fantastic when dealing with some challenging guests. You can only have wine or beer but not both and no hard alcohol. This is one of the reasons why we chose the location and it could not have been more perfect. Deanna & the staff made sure the day was flawless.

The castle itself is so beautfiul inside and out, that not much extra decorating is required..which was a huge plus when it came to our budget! The owner & staff were extremely nice and knowledgable. They've done many weddings, and can recommend various vendors they've worked with in the past if you're still struggling to find a caterer, wedding cake artist, D.J, etc. We had such a wonderful experience...our wedding guests are STILL talking about what a beautiful wedding it was..and my new husband and I will have fond memories of that day for many years to come!

Thornewood Castle is a breathtaking venue hidden among residences in Lakewood, WA. It is a unique and beautiful venue for a ceremony and reception. We had our ceremony in the sunken rose garden and the reception followed with tables on the lawn overlooking the lake at the back of the Castle. All of our guests commented on how wonderful the venue was - many said it was like stepping into a fairytale.
Deanna, the owner was wonderful to work with. We had a dual reception (my sister and I got married on the same day) and she helped us to hash out all the details. However, much of the other staff was cold and didn't seem to want to deal with us. They only accept visitors by appointment and even closed the castle during our rehearsal (we couldn't use the bathrooms). During the wedding, they had several staff members making sure people didn't wander upstairs or over the property line.
All in all, if you don't mind dealing with some grumpy people, this is a wonderful venue for a wedding.

This venue is lovely! It created a beautiful atmosphere for my wedding. They are a bit particular about timing and certain materials brought in, but the venue is basically ready as is... no exhausting plans to make the place beautiful with pricy decor... it is gorgeous just the way it is!

This is one of the harder reviews to write because the feelings are a little mixed. The venue itself was everything I ever could have asked for. And since the weather was so nice, we got to get married in the gardens like I’d dreamed! Unfortunately… the staff really fell flat in our last couple of communications and especially on the wedding day. They didn’t help with a thing and were actually rude to the guests! Of course people were curious about the castle… but instead of just letting people know why they couldn’t tour anything, they were rude in their responses to the guests. It was the only thing I had complaints about. During our rehearsal, our Officiant had to use the restroom and they wouldn’t let him in to the castle [rehearsal was in the garden]! Our “DOC” was completely useless. I asked if she could do one thing [turn on the music before we walked down the aisle] and was refused because she “might be needed elsewhere”. So… not thrilled about the staff, which is a bummer because they started out so well. To be honest, I still would have had my wedding there if I had to do it over. The space was just too beautiful for words! Thornewood itself gets an A and the staff gets a C.

Thornewood Castle is a beautiful venue for a wedding. The garden is a great place to have the ceremony, and the dining room has great atmosphere.
Downsides: you cannot have a band play outside during the reception (only during the ceremony). You cannot remove the carpets covering the beautiful wooden floors. 6 hours is short considering the preparations, ceremony, reception, and photos (I did my hair/makeup off site).
Overall it's pricy but the location is well worth it.
