Thornewood Castle, in my opinion, is and was the venue of perfection. It is stunningly beautiful, the staff are friendly and professional, and the site is epic! My guests were utterly transported, and everyone was saying that it was the most beautiful location for a wedding that they had ever been to. If you want fairy tale, Thornewood is the way to go.

This was a absolutely beautiful venue. We had our ceremony in the sunken English garden and reception in the hall and lawn overlooking the lake. Everyone commented at how beautiful the estate was! Because of its' setting we saved money on decor, which was not really needed. Also if you are not picky - book your event on a weekday, it saved us $1000! Deanna, the owner, was a lovely woman and we enjoyed working with her. I would highly recommend this venue for an unforgettable event.

You get what you pay for. We just had our wedding there, and it was perfect. It is pretty expensive, but it is worth. We got married in the secret garden, all the flowers were in bloom. The weather was in our favor, and I couldn't ask for anything more.

I got married here september 3rd 2010. We couldn't have chosen a more ideal date for our wedding. Due to the 80+ degree weather we were able to hold the ceremony and most of the reception outdoors in the GORGEOUS garden. Seeing as our wedding was a little unique (we chose a circus theme) the elegance of Thornewood really brought out the class and timeless feel we wanted to incorporate. None of our guests had to lift a finger. they had our tables, chairs, linens, and music set up before we even arrived! I honestly couldn't have asked for a more unique, elegant and careless wedding. Deanna, Miranda and staff helped walk us through all the necessary details and even suggested various ways of arranging to utilize our space and creativity. So, I'm giving thornewood two thumbs up for all their hard work and customer oriented service.

My new husband and I stayed at the Thornewood Castle on our wedding night in the Presidential Suite. It was AMAZING. I had never seen the castle, but am from the area so it was wonderful to learn some of the incredible history (it was brought over brick by brick from London). The grounds, garden, accommodations, views and food are some of the best in the area, AND we'll be going back for our anniversary to the b&b for the next 10 years (a gift from my mom & grandma). Highly recommended!
I only gave a 2.5 on flexibility because we weren't allowed to host a brunch there the morning after our wedding (which took place at the Olympia Country Club).

I had my Wedding at Thornewood Castle and due to traffic my guests were almost an hour late as well as myself (the bride). Thornewood was completely unreasonable about extending my "contracted time" so I had to scramble to complete my wedding in 4 hours including cleanup/pick up etc.!! They also make you haul out your own garbage. Beautiful place but they are VERY strict about Wedding and time etc. I had to pay an additional $500.00 just to have an extra hour when I lost 2 hours of my wedding due to traffic, they are VERY expensive and all about $$$ there. They also will not let you show up early just to walk around the castle and do pictures....you have 6 hours for your contracted time which includes everything including set up/cleanup unless you want to pay $500.00 extra an hour.

I wanted a castle and I got a castle. Thornwood is an amazing property and the photos that we had taken turned out so beautiful. The ladies who I worked with were all really nice but I was at time a bit stress out with their inability to be flexible with times. Also I did not really like that other people who were not with my wedding party were wandering around the castle while we were having the ceremony and reception. All in all it was a great location and I am happy I choose it.

Excellent place to have a wedding. It was perfect!

It was amazing. I could not image having it any other place. The staff was fantastic when dealing with some challenging guests. You can only have wine or beer but not both and no hard alcohol. This is one of the reasons why we chose the location and it could not have been more perfect. Deanna & the staff made sure the day was flawless.

The castle itself is so beautfiul inside and out, that not much extra decorating is required..which was a huge plus when it came to our budget! The owner & staff were extremely nice and knowledgable. They've done many weddings, and can recommend various vendors they've worked with in the past if you're still struggling to find a caterer, wedding cake artist, D.J, etc. We had such a wonderful experience...our wedding guests are STILL talking about what a beautiful wedding it was..and my new husband and I will have fond memories of that day for many years to come!

Thornewood Castle is a breathtaking venue hidden among residences in Lakewood, WA. It is a unique and beautiful venue for a ceremony and reception. We had our ceremony in the sunken rose garden and the reception followed with tables on the lawn overlooking the lake at the back of the Castle. All of our guests commented on how wonderful the venue was - many said it was like stepping into a fairytale.
Deanna, the owner was wonderful to work with. We had a dual reception (my sister and I got married on the same day) and she helped us to hash out all the details. However, much of the other staff was cold and didn't seem to want to deal with us. They only accept visitors by appointment and even closed the castle during our rehearsal (we couldn't use the bathrooms). During the wedding, they had several staff members making sure people didn't wander upstairs or over the property line. All in all, if you don't mind dealing with some grumpy people, this is a wonderful venue for a wedding.

This venue is lovely! It created a beautiful atmosphere for my wedding. They are a bit particular about timing and certain materials brought in, but the venue is basically ready as is... no exhausting plans to make the place beautiful with pricy decor... it is gorgeous just the way it is!

This is one of the harder reviews to write because the feelings are a little mixed. The venue itself was everything I ever could have asked for. And since the weather was so nice, we got to get married in the gardens like Id dreamed! Unfortunately
the staff really fell flat in our last couple of communications and especially on the wedding day. They didnt help with a thing and were actually rude to the guests! Of course people were curious about the castle
but instead of just letting people know why they couldnt tour anything, they were rude in their responses to the guests. It was the only thing I had complaints about. During our rehearsal, our Officiant had to use the restroom and they wouldnt let him in to the castle [rehearsal was in the garden]! Our DOC was completely useless. I asked if she could do one thing [turn on the music before we walked down the aisle] and was refused because she might be needed elsewhere. So
not thrilled about the staff, which is a bummer because they started out so well. To be honest, I still would have had my wedding there if I had to do it over. The space was just too beautiful for words! Thornewood itself gets an A and the staff gets a C.

Thornewood Castle is a beautiful venue for a wedding. The garden is a great place to have the ceremony, and the dining room has great atmosphere.
Downsides: you cannot have a band play outside during the reception (only during the ceremony). You cannot remove the carpets covering the beautiful wooden floors. 6 hours is short considering the preparations, ceremony, reception, and photos (I did my hair/makeup off site). Overall it's pricy but the location is well worth it.
