We used Barbara as our photographer and couldn't have been happier with the quality of the photos we received. She was absolutely fabulous. Friendly, flexible, unobtrusive and yet she totally captured the spirit of the day.
I was FAR less impressed with Andrea (the owner). Beware that her contract states that prices are subject to change without notice and she definitely did change her prices and terms repeatedly. We met with her about 6 months before our event when she laid out prices and details. However, 2 weeks before the wedding she tried to change the additional hourly rate of our photographer. Luckily we'd met with our photographer, Barbara, the day before who'd quoted us the original price. Andrea agreed to charge us the originally quoted hourly rate but she made up for her lost profits by charging several hundred dollars extra for our album and failing to meet the delivery terms of our contract. In our original meeting she mentioned that a matted album would cost a bit more but we didn't expect a full $350 on top of our total contract price. She also failed to provide the proof of our album within the time-frame guaranteed by our contract. When we called her on it, she claimed that because we'd selected a matted album instead of flush mount before the ceremony, she didn't want to start a layout until we contacted her to confirm our preference. The contract doesn't have a word about different delivery dates for proofs of matted vs flush mount albums and she never told us that she wouldn't even begin working on the layout until we contacted her. When we suggested that her failure to comply with the terms of her own contract warranted a discount on the album, she told us that she thought mailing us our images for free was more than enough compensation for receiving our 1st proof more than 30 days late. I hardly think that something I could have picked up for free from her office was compensation for the 30 day delay. Unfortunately, we're left with no recourse since we've already paid for the album as part of our contract price and I can't bear the thought of asking someone else to put one together for us since that would effectively be paying twice for one album.

Andrea and Rachel photographed my wedding. The pictures were absolutely amazing, as is Andrea. She is super nice and was great to work with. The pictures exceeded my expectations and everyone is still talking about them 6 months after the wedding. They covered all of the great moments of my wedding. Andrea was always very responsive to all of my needs/emails and I would highly recommend using Observatory.

From our first meeting with Jana Curcio's director, Andrea Jacobson, we were sold. She was extremely professional and nice in our initial meeting - showing us all of her photographer's work and explaining details that we may have otherwise not know about to ask. The photographer we were assigned to, Kurstin Roe, was exceptionally nice and professional. During our meeting, he took the time to get to know my husband and I in a very natural way and on the day of the wedding, during our portrait shots, we were extremely comfortable with him. Both him and Andrea were non-intrusive and super friendly.
Administratively, Andrea was a delight to work with. Payments were easy to make, the contract was clear, and she had exceptional turn-around time whenever I had a question for her.

We hired Kurstin Roe through Jana Curcio Photography and we were thrilled with our decision! He is professional but so much fun to work with. He did our engagement photos as well and everything turned out fantastic! I highly recommend him and the entire Jana Curcio team.

Our photographer was Andrea Jacobson from Jana Curcio Photography. We loved working with her--we first met her at our engagement photo session about a year before the wedding, and we felt immediately at ease with her. We had a great time taking photos with her and were very happy with the way they turned out! Our friends and family were very impressed at her ability to capture the essence of the moment and our happiness! She was very easy to work with and accommodated our special requests for pictures. She posted our photos online in a timely fashion and was always available for any questions we had before, during, and after the wedding. She is an incredibly professional and warm person and I would definitely recommend her for anyone looking for a photographer!

What can I say? Amazing!
When we finally decided on Jana Curcio Photography, we then needed to select the photographer. That was pretty difficult given how talented everyone is. We went with Andrea Jacobson, and even "tried her out" for the engagement photos. Those turned out fantastic, so we have high hopes for the wedding pictures.
Closer to the wedding, we decided to hire a second photographer, and chose Kurstin Roe from the Jana Curcio pool of talent. Kurstin was fantastic (and one of our earlier finalists, so bonus!). He spent the earlier part of the day with the men, but had me laughing and actually enjoying standing in the cold getting some night shots.
I'll update this once the photos come in, but going from how easy both were to work with, their amazing eyes for details (sometimes the same things, sometimes totally different) and just how personable they were - I have every confidence that we will be far from disappointed in the final results. I actually think we will have a hard time narrowing down pictures for the album(s).
The approximate amount spent is including the engagement session with Andrea, but not the albums (ours or our parents).

Marvin with Jana Curcio photography was wonderful. We had so much fun taking our pictures and he was a wonderful photographer to have. He was not stuffy and having someone who was "more carefree" but still took excellent pictures was great for the day-of. We needed someone to loosen the mood and he was perfect. Jana Curcio overall has been average to work with - we haven't been disappointed, but we haven't been particularly "wowed" weither.

We could not possibly have been happier with Andrea Jacobson from Jana Curcio Photography! From our very first meeting, she was warm, friendly and professional, and we felt very confident that she would do an excellent job with our wedding photos. On our wedding day, she was a pleasure to have around and work with, and she managed to capture so much without ever being in the least bit intrusive. We've gotten nothing but compliments on our photos, with many people saying that they're the nicest wedding photos they've ever seen. I have to agree. I can't say enough about what a great experience we had with Andrea.

It was a pleasure working with Jana Curcio. Mary Katherine was very responsive and easy to work with. All of their photographers shoot documentary-style photos. Our photographer was Deb Lindsey. We enjoyed working with Deb and were very happy with our pictures. She took all the pictures we wanted and many we hadn't thought of. My husband and I had horrible pics taken by Jana's company. Not only did they send us rough first pics that needed to be touched up, they were not willing to work with us to make the situation right. The best pics of my wedding were of my dog! DO NOT USE!

Photograher: Barbara Salisbury of Jana Curcio Photography. I first heard of Jana Curcio in the Washingtonian annual wedding issue. I checked out her website and loved her Photojournalist work - exactly what we wanted. We had a meeting with Jana and there was only one photographer available for our date. We reviewed her portfolio and decided to go for it. We really liked Jana's packages and felt the price was worth it. We met with Barbara a month before the wedding and loved her immediately. She was very thorough and so sweet. After our first meeting I wasn't sure if we'd gotten across our ?must take? list well, and without prompting, she emailed us again to see if we wanted to meet again and discuss further - I so appreciated that she sensed this and cared enough to make sure we were all clear on what we wanted. For the actual wedding, Barbara brought along a second photographer who was just starting out - that was amazing! We go two for the price of one! They were so awesome, all over the place, yet unobtrusive. The entire bridal party loved them and they really created a fun environment for taking pictures. Everyone said it was like being at a photo shoot - you can definitely see this in the pictures. The final products are awesome. There are so many great shots and I have so many favorites. There are a few things that got missed, but I think that's to be expected. Overall they are wonderful and I have no idea how I'll decide which ones to order! Grade: A
