My now husband and I actually got engaged at the hotel in there fabulous restaurant so we thought it would be a great idea to have our wedding reception there. We are so glad we did!! Wanda and Terri whom are the wedding coordinators at the hotel were amazing!! They were there with an answer to all of my questions. The reception room is beautiful and all of our guests were amazed at how nice everything turned out. The room itself was a conversation piece. The food was amazing as well!! All in All, I would recommend this venue to anyone!! You will not be disappointed!!

We had our reception at the Gettysburg Hotel on June 20th. We had our reception a week after our wedding ceremony and so our circumstances were a bit different than most. Wanda and Terri were very accommodating to our non-traditional interests. Aside from a few minor bumps, which are to be expected at any function, we were extremely pleased with the service and the venue. We were the second wedding at the venue on that day yet the staff remained professional in the execution of their duties. They were personable and attentive. Aside from the rating system, the room itself is amazing and we are pleased with our decision to have hosted our reception there.

We had our wedding reception at the Gettysburg Hotel on May 30, 2009 and I highly recommend the venue for any wedding or event. Throughout our planning, Wanda and later Wanda and Terri were both exceedingly helpful and responsive. They have strong ties with the local florist, DJ, cake baker and rental company we used, so everything arrived and was set up for us flawlessly. All we had to do was show up!
The ballroom is gorgeous, the food was delicious, and I'm told the bar service was above average - it all made for a beautiful and relaxed reception. Even two months later, I'm often complimented on how great the reception was - not to our credit, of course! We in the bridal party were treated very well, with a special room to hide out in during the cocktail hour and special service from Terri throughout the night.
The air conditioner broke near the middle of the reception, but as the bride, I didn't notice until I was told about it later. Most guests were having a great time so they stayed despite the gradually warming room. Terri insisted on getting a maintenance crew to come in, but they wouldn't have arrived until the reception was over anyway so my husband told her to deal with it tomorrow. The entire situation, I hear, was handled very professionally.
The accommodations for the bride and groom were very impressive - we stayed in one of three bridal suites. Wanda and Terri allowed an early check-in so my bridesmaids could get ready there in the hotel. Terri had some snacks and champagne sent up to our suite after the reception ended.
What attracted us to the Gettysburg Hotel was the value for the cost. It was definitely more expensive than other venues we toured, but between the bridal suite, the cake, the handy "extras" we had access to, and both a full-time coordinator and a maitre d', we knew we were getting a value we couldn't attach a price tag to. Plus, the food was much better than was expected at a large event like that, and the ballroom was gorgeous, and we would have spent a lot of money to re-create that atmosphere elsewhere.

The coordinator, Wanda, was very pleasant to work with. She helped me out with any questions I had and was always available. The food was good, and most of the staff was very nice. The only set back I had was the maitre d', Terry. She informed us that announcing the wedding party as well as myself and my husband would not be an issue and she would be glad to do it. Well, 5 minutes before the time came to announce us in, she acted like she had no idea that she would be doing it and did a horrible job. There was also a mix up with our contract in that they thought we were supposed to leave at 10:30, when in fact we were contracted to be there until 11. She was very rude to my father, who is the one that paid for everything, when he pointed out she was incorrect. We ended up winning the argument, but my father was very put off by her. She also had taken our cake topper up to our room for us, and when we got there we had found the box had been dropped. Icing was all over the floor and the cake was ruined. I wouldn't have been so angry except that no one said a word to us about it, we had to find out for ourselves, and when she saw us the next morning, she quickly turned the other way and didn't say a word to us. I know receptions go pretty quickly for the bride and groom, but I felt very rushed throughout the whole evening...
Having said all that, the ballroom is beautiful, as was our complimentary bridal suite for the evening.

The first thing I have to say about the Gettysburg Hotel is that they went above and beyond what I had envisioned and expected when it came to my wedding day. Everything was just perfect from the food that was prepared to the staff that were very professional and attentive. I did not hear a single complaint from any guest about anything, they all raved about the food and the candy bar which I was able to purchase through the hotel, saving a lot of headaches, was a huge hit! I really cannot say enough about how wonderful everything was. I did not have to worry about a single thing between Wanda Gemmell, Cindy McCrensky and Terri Byers who made sure that everything went smoothly so that I as the bride could just enjoy and celebrate my big day. I would highly recommend the Gettysburg Hotel to any bride who is looking for a professional and classy venue.

I was overall very pleased with my choice to use The Gettysburg Hotel as my venue. Despite a few minor hiccups (and what wedding is without any) I was very satisfied. All my guests commented on how I couldn't have picked a nicer venue. Not only the catering staff but every worker at the hotel was awesome!! The receptionists at the front desk took our gift baskets to put in the rooms of our out of town guests, were always on hand to recommend a restaurant or let me into parts of the wedding/reception area that were closed for the night. My wedding was just after Christmas and they took down some decorate Christmas trees that I didn't want in my ceremony/reception room although a business was having their Christmas part the next night and had requested them. I could go on and on . . . .

Wanda and Terri were great! I would recommend the Gettysburg Hotel to anyone. Wanda always offered prompt service, and during the reception, Terri worked hard to make sure everything went smoothly (which it did). I had the reception I've always dreamed of because of these two!
Thank you!!
