Browsing Wedding Wire, I kept going back to Sweets by E's page because her cake photos were so great. I decided to set up a tasting, even though I thought she might be a little out of my price range. My fiance and I went to her bakery in Herndon and had a very pleasant experience. Evan had asked what cake flavors we wanted to taste ahead of time and then provided whole slices of cake...and coffee! The cake tasted amazing and Evan was able to advise me about what style of cake she would be able to do for me that fit my wedding theme and price range. She understood exactly what I had in mind when I said my theme was "Anthropologie" and I had no doubt that we shared the same vision. We initially signed a contract for a small cutting cake and then several dozen cupcakes (as this option was less expensive), but after I found out that I had some extra budget, I decided to just go with a whole wedding cake. Evan was very responsive and flexible to changes that I wanted to make.

At the wedding reception the cake looked amazing and was exactly as I pictured it. Everyone loved it and was so impressed that "wedding cake" could taste so good. We were also able to take home and freeze the top of the cake, which was pretty cool too.

Although I had many wedding vendors that I liked, Sweets by E was the only vendor who I never had to worry about. She worked with my venue to set up delivery, and I never had to worry about a thing. I will certainly be ordering from Sweets by E for my future cake and cupcake needs.

First of all, Evan is an absolute sweetheart and a joy to work with. Beyond that, she is SO talented - our cake was hands down the best cake I've ever had, and our guests were raving. We had two flavors - the Guinness chocolate cake with bailey's cream filling on the bottom and as the groom's cake, and then the top tiers were the tiramisu cake with the mascarpone cream filling. Both were HEAVENLY and our guests were all raving about how delicious it was. She was so flexible with design and the things this girl can do with buttercream icing is amazing - there was no fondant and the cake was perfection. She also placed our cake topper, delivered to our venue, and offers a complimentary top tier sized cake for your first anniversary... all above and beyond what we could ask. I can't wait until next year when I can have more, and you can bet I'll be ordering a small version of the Guinness cake for my Husband's birthday every year because it is incredible and he loved it.

Guests RAVED about our wedding cake! My photographer said it was beautiful and must be fondant...But it was buttercream! Sweets By E provided a wonderful cake for my wedding. Due to my dietary issues, Evan baked two gluten-free red velvet tiers, as well as a full of gluten vanilla with chocolate tier for the guests. The red velvet cake was moist and delicious and I'm told the vanilla tier was the same.

As far as design goes, I wanted the cake to match the lace on my dress, which she did perfectly! It was a nice touch for the wedding.

The tasting prior to the wedding was great, as well. Evan provided many samples for us to try. She worked directly with the reception site for delivery, so that was one less thing for me to do!

I was very impressed with my wedding cake! I had waited till the last minute to order my cake, but Evan was able to pull it off in no time! I sent her a picture of a wedding cake I wanted her to emulate, and I couldn't believe my eyes when I walked into the reception...it was exactly what I had in mind!!

Evan is absolutely amazing to work with. She makes the process so fun and simple. Her cakes are truly mouthwatering. She offers unique flavors like the caramel apple we did to go with our fall wedding. (The buttercream icing is also to die for.) Evan took my ideas and put together exactly what we wanted. She was in contact with our wedding coordinator the day of and there was no stress involved in the delivery. We received so many compliments on both the look and taste of the cake (it was stunning). We added a fifth tier to keep and it is in our freezer anxiously awaiting our one year anniversary!

Evan provided the cake for our wedding in October 2012 at the Carnegie Institute for Science. Evan was a joy to work with! We came to her pretty late in the game, and she was willing (and able!) to help us implement a very specific design (which other bakers seemed to have a problem with) only weeks away from the wedding. The cake was DELICIOUS! She is a very enthusiastic and talented baker, and it really comes through in her work. We highly recommend her to anyone looking for a professional, enthusiastic, and reasonably priced baker who can deliver a memorable cake for their wedding.

Evan is amazing and by far the best wedding cake designer in the DC area in my opinion. I've been to a lot of weddings and tried cake all around the area, and nothing compares to her delicious creations. I loved every bit of working with her. I found her on weddingwire myself. She moved to the area in the last couple of years so she's still a bit of a hidden secret. Our first tasting with her was really delicious - we ended up getting both of the flavors we tried - chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and the other was almond cake with raspberries and italian buttercream. We had vanilla buttercream for the frosting but she does fondant cakes as well. I also bought my graduation cake from her and it was amazing as well - homemade funfetti with italian buttercream. She was very professional and quick to respond throughout the process. I also really loved her unique and creative touch on a traditional DC-themed cake - cherry blossoms, a very popular theme but personally significant to me and my husband. Her take was incredibly elegant and she also included a buttercream-frosted scenery of the monuments. Also it's quite impressive to think that she did all of that with buttercream and sugar flowers. My husband had really wanted them in buttercream instead of fondant, which Evan also does an amazing job at, because of prejudices he had against fondant. I really can't say enough about Evan. I highly recommend her as the first stop for any bride, no matter what your budget is as you can't beat the quality of her cakes, her professionalism, and extremely reasonable prices (no minimums, "kitchen cake" options, and options to order cupcakes if you just want one decorated tier).
