Megan went over and beyond!!

I worked a wedding as the photographer at the Decatur Courthouse and had a fantastic experience with Megan Elise Cook from Sun in My Belly. She was incredibly professional, organized, and went above and beyond... She made sure things ran smoothly for not only the guests but vendors!! As someone who follows a vegan diet, I’m often used to being an afterthought at events like these, but Megan made sure I had a delicious vegan meal from a local restaurant. It was such a kind and considerate gesture that meant A LOT during a long workday!

Beyond that, she was kind, professional, and calm under pressure. Exactly what you need for your wedding day!! Sun in my Belly is lucky to have someone like her on the team! The other staff members were also extremely professional. I unfortunately didn't get their names but their kindness was VERY appreciated!!

SIMB was amazming caterer from start to finish

My wife and I booked SIMB to cater our wedding, and we could not be more thrilled with how everything turned out. Megan sold us on the vision, and the food was just amazing.

The Management: Megan made us feel comfortable and was exceptional from the start and she made the process so easy. She worked extremely hard to coordinate with our other vendors and definitely went the extra mile. When she was unavailable, Max stepped up and didn't miss a beat.

The Food: Our guests are still raving (post month) about the food, and we have gotten multiple "it was the best food i've ever had at a wedding" comments. The food was so good we had no leftovers at all which is always a good sign.

The Service: The SIMB catering staff was professional and exceptional. Everyone was so friendly and really brought this amazing process with SIMB full circle. From the bartenders to the servers they crushed it!

Conclusion: Call Megan NOW if you are are looking for a caterer. You won't be disappointed and your guests will always remember a wedding SIMB catered.

We had a great experience working with Megan, Max and the entire SIMB team. Not only will your food be amazing (seriously - our guests are still talking about it), but the service and level of detail is unmatched. They went above and beyond and made everything so seamless. We had an event at our home for 40 guests earlier this month
Communication with Megan was excellent from the start to finish. The team that came to our house to set up, prepare and serve were top notch professionals!! Thank you Michelle, Jon and Chef Coach!! You are the BEST!!
The variety of dishes are incredible and SIMB is very flexible with menu choices. The tapas selections are outstanding and delicious, as well as the desserts! All our guests raved about the food! SIMB exceeded my expectations! I highly recommend Sun In My Belly for ALL your catering needs!

Delicious Food For Our Wedding Day

We used Sun in My Belly to cater our wedding at The Wimbish House on April 15th. From initial contact, it felt like we were in good, knowledgeable, experienced hands, which was one relief from the stress of planning our wedding. The food at the tasting was delicious, and we knew our guests would love it. We chose to go with two tapas stations with shrimp and grits, haricots verts, caesar salad, panzanella salad, wild mushroom ravioli, bourbon + pecan grilled chicken, mac n cheese, and coca cola glazed ham. They were able to accommodate a few guests who are vegan (and one with a soy allergy) with a rigatoni lentil bolognese and vegan panzanella salad. It meant a lot to us that they were able to make these modifications. We also had the fried chicken endive cups, carolina pulled pork on corn muffins, and fried green tomatoes (*drool*) as our hors d'oeuvres. For dessert, we had a special 24" wide cake from Cake by Anna and mini red velvet and mini smores cupcakes. (Thanks to Esther and team for cutting that cake!) Everything went absolutely flawlessly and multiple times our guests told us how much they enjoyed the food and the wedding. Thanks again to the SIMB team for all their hard work. We'll be recommending them to all our friends and family and dining at the restaurant again soon.

Best Wedding Vendor Experience

My husband and I used Sun in My Belly for our wedding venue and caterer. The event and food went well beyond our expectations. The staff were extremely attentive and communicative. It was the perfect wedding and every guest raved about the food. We are so happy how things turned out. We highly recommend them and they’re a delicious brunch spot as well.

Great Rehearsal Dinner and Wedding Caterer

We hosted our Rehearsal Dinner at Sun in My Belly and also had them cater our wedding reception. Hilary, Megan, Michelle and the team were such a delight and supported us throughout the process. To be honest, we significantly underestimated just how much a caterer is responsible for with the wedding logistics, but SIMB made it feel like a breeze. We wanted to have a vegetarian station and vegan station for our guests and they were able to give us lovely options for both events so our guests could have a full range of food. We had multiple people comment both on how great the food was and how grateful they were as vegetarians or vegans to have so many options.
Having our rehearsal dinner at the restaurant was such a treat too and made for a beautiful and intimate space. We loved working with them throughout the process!

Sun In My Belly was an amazing vendor!! Hilary was also our coordinator and having the two together was so helpful. Hilary and her team were amazing from the moment we met them through the wedding. Working with them was like planning a wedding with friends. I should also mention the food was delicious!!! We had multiple guests comment on how great the food was! Delicious food that impressed all of our guests!

My husband and I had such a difficult time trying to find a caterer for our wedding. We tried several local caterers, and were constantly disappointed in the quality and appearance of the food. As big foodies, we really wanted a farm to table menu that was fresh and hot for our guests. Sun in My Belly really delivered! We worked with Megan, and from the beginning she was genuine, responsive, and accommodating with all of our requests. I may be a little biased, but it was the best food I have ever had at a wedding! There was plenty of food for our guests and they even bagged up some to-go plates for us to eat after the wedding. The thought and care that went into curating the perfect menu and creating a signature Fall Sangria for us was incredible!

SIMB was perfection

Sun in My Belly did such an amazing job catering my wedding!! I am such a big foodie and it was very important to me that we not only have pretty dishes, but that we had yummy ones that everybody would love. Leading up to everything, Marissa, Michelle, and Max were always super responsive and helpful. When we met with Marissa and Michelle, both were SO personable and were so accommodating when I had specific things I did and did not want, and even let me create a vegan entree for my guests (that everybody said was SO good!!). Everything came out perfectly and we had so many compliments!! I highly recommend SIMB! :)

amazing food, accommodating staff

There are not enough compliments to give Sun In My Belly! We worked primarily with Megan and she was genuine, kind, and incredibly accommodating throughout our entire planning process. This was our top choice of caterers from the get-go, but we were initially worried that we wouldn't be able to afford them... however they worked with us and our budget and made it happen! The food was fresh and delicious and our guests were raving about it all night long. I have been hearing from a few guests in the days after our wedding that some of the food was cold by the time they got it.. which is a bummer, but it didn't seem to change anyone's overall opinion of the dinner. Our vegan/vegetarian/and nut-allergic guests were also so impressed that they had made accommodations for them- and they didn't have to go hungry just because of their restrictions! Sun In My Belly showed us the world of difference there is between event catering and a restaurant that offers catering. This will definitely be where we go to celebrate all of our anniversaries! Seriously, I could gush about them for days

Sun In My Belly provided a wonderful rehearsal dinner for our son and his bride-to-be. They were easy to work with and made great recommendations as far as menu and presentation. The quality of the food was outstanding and very "fresh or farm to table". They customized the menu to meet the desires of a "foody" group of young people. Will definitely use them again.

Max at SIMB was amazing. He was very organized, responsive, and professional. I am so glad he was there through the planning process, he knew our venue better than our wedding planner. I tried to do my wedding for as cheap as possible and Sun in my Belly almost was not my choice because of being thrifty. They are more expensive than some caterers but, honestly, worth every penny. My wedding was over a month ago and I am still getting calls from my guests about how great the food was. The staff was professional, amazing, and attentive. The tasting was wonderful and honestly they were such a perfect caterer. It was just amazing. I will reccomend them to every person I meet having a wedding. They were willing to try to make anything happen, to make it beautiful, and make sure everyone was happy.

OUTSTANDING. Sun In My Belly (SIMB) responded to us within 24 hours of initial contact with a great deal of information. It was clear from the start that these folks were organized, detailed and eager to please. SIMB gave us not one, but TWO tastings at no charge and ensured we got to taste every item in which we expressed interest. The Executive Chef, Alison, oversaw our tastings herself and chatted with us about every detail of our event. She offered advice and assisted us with rental tables that worked better than what our venue offered. When we couldn’t decide on just 3 hors-d'oeuvres, Alison made it easy for us by offering to do a split portion on one of our choices to allow us to serve everything we wanted. She went above and beyond to accommodate us in making our menu exactly what we wanted. The food is absolutely delicious and was so good we had trouble choosing!
Several months before the wedding date, Alison met us at our venue, requiring a 90-minute drive from Atlanta. She personally helped us determine our seating arrangement and assessed the space to determine the best options for every catering detail. On wedding day, the SIMB team were absolute pros. They got in and set up without a hitch. They made sure we had cocktails and a plate of hors-d'oeuvres waiting on us after the ceremony. As we made our way to the reception, we encountered Alison who had held a restless baby (one of the nieces) during the ceremony so that a sister-in-law could attend the ceremony (can you say above and beyond???)! The bartender was busy mixing our signature cocktail to perfection and when it ran out, she improvised by offering white wine spritzers. Those serving food were on top of every detail… even noticing a few folks that were stuck outside managing children and dogs and delivering them plates of food. These folks are absolute pros! We told Alison that we had one guest with a latex allergy and she purchased special non-latex gloves for her team to ensure no issues.

After getting quotes from multiple vendors, we chose Sun in my Belly since they were able to work within our budget and we'd eaten at the restaurant before and liked their food. We worked with Leanne who was wonderful. She made sure we got fed during the reception and helped with so many things I can't list them all. Their wait abd bar staff was professional and the food was amazing. Everyone raved about it! My favs were the crab cake appetizer and the noodle bar with duck, shrimp, and pork.

The culinary and events team at Sun in my Belly exceeded our expectations throughout every touch point they handled leading up to and during our wedding day. From the time of our initial tasting to our final vendor walkthrough, owner & executive director Max LeBlanc made us feel super comfortable and taken care of. Max was incredibly knowledgeable, professional, organized and attentive throughout our partnership. Because our wedding was taking place at a venue that had never hosted a wedding before, we faced some challenges throughout the planning process. Max offered up great ideas and solutions – we found workarounds that all of our partners were able to collaborate together on.

We initially engaged SIMB for our cocktail hour and seated dinner catering, but we ended up also using their resources for bar & beverage service and furniture / table / linen rentals. Their offerings from a capabilities stand point is truly impressive - it made decision making towards the end of the process really convenient and simple. Max and his team worked closely with us to customize our guest experience. They helped create an evening that was so special, authentic and magical. Our friends and family still talk about how memorable the food and service was. We feel so fortunate to have been able to experience all the amazing things the SIMB culinary and events team has to offer. Thank you SIMB for making our day and night so delicious and perfect!

As a bride without a planner, I cannot thank Sun in My Belly enough for absolutely capture my vision for the reception— I could not have imagined a more beautiful and elegant staging of our event. It was stunning! Second, the food was delicious! It was hard to imagine how a buffet for seventy people could possibly reach the levels of perfection that SIMB food achieves in the restaurant, but somehow they managed it! The omelets were so tasty, the salad was excellent and the eggs Benedict and french toast were just as wonderful as I remembered from the tasting! Most importantly, the SIMB staff was simply excellent— all the servers were attentive, professional and fun to have around! Everyone’s glasses were full, tables were cleared with admirable precision, and at the end of the event, they helped my family clear out our decorations! I cannot thank Sun in My Belly enough for making the reception everything I could have asked and so so so much more. We had so much fun and I don’t think I could have relaxed enough to enjoy the day without your amazing staff under the guidance of the absolutely phenomenal Leanne.

I attending a wedding and rehearsal dinner that SIMB catered to. It was incredible food!! I actually think it was better than what they serve in their restaurant on a normal night. They delivered everything on time; I never saw one issue. I was so impressed! They even let us use their back room and terrace for the rehearsal dinner. So wonderful!

We had SIMB cater our rehearsal dinner and brunch at our home for about 75 out of town guests.... AMAZING! Literally, people talked more about the food at our rehearsal dinner than they did for our wedding. The team was very friendly and the food speaks for itself. I would recommend them for any event!

I know it seems cheesy to give 5 stars across the board but Sun In My Belly did an outstanding job. Not just in food and service, they exceeded our expectations in every way. They really took the time to answer our questions make sure we understood everything and felt comfortable along the way. We had a small wedding limited to 50 guests so Alison was kind enough to take it upon herself to act as our Wedding Planner which helped us immensely in the co-ordination of events. She truly went above and beyond.

The Sun In My Belly staff were professional, well dressed for the event and down right friendly. We were hearing about how much everyone loved the food for months. Additionally, their resource for the Wedding Cake was top notch. Finally a Wedding Cake that didn't just look good but people wanted to eat!

Great food and good people. Sun In My Belly will treat you right and take care of you.

Sun in My Belly is one of our favorite restaurants, and we were so happy to see them listed on our venue's (Courthouse on the Square) preferred vendors. (It actually helped to sell us on the venue!) We loved incorporating another piece of us into the wedding, and I especially liked that they use fresh, local ingredients whenever possible and free-range chicken. We didn't even taste other caterers - it was a no-brainer for us.

Max and team were very responsive during the planning process, even helping us figure out how many people we could fit in the room and how to lay out the space. A few weeks before our wedding we had the Lucy salad in the restaurant and fell head over heels, and they let us serve it as our salad even when it wasn't listed in the catering menu.

The food was so delicious the day of - we received many compliments on the food. Even the buffet presentation was so pretty - who knew a buffet could look elegant? My boss even asked us for their information to pass along to a friend who is having an event in Decatur. I recommend Sun in My Belly without hesitation. Our faves - the trout entree, mushroom gruyere crostini, chicken pistachio satay, the zucchini and corn, and the mac and cheese!

I can't say enough good things about Sun in my Belly! They created a custom, delicious, vegetarian-friendly menu (buffet style) for our wedding reception. Working with Max at the tasting and on menu selection was great.

Shortly before the wedding, we met with Max and Apraha, our on-site coordinator. We talked through all the details, and it put us totally at ease! Apraha came to the venue with us the day before the wedding to help us place tables and lay table cloths. I did a lot of DIY, but on the wedding day itself, I didn't have to worry about things coming together, because I knew we were in good hands with SIMB, and that the place would look beautiful and the food would be delicious. The catering staff at the event were friendly and fun. Apraha did an awesome job managing the flow of the event -- both the space and the time.

We sat down and ate with our guests, but they also packaged up a great amount of leftovers so that we could sit down after leaving the reception and enjoy some of the things we hadn't tried.

SIMB let us provide our own beverages and desserts, but when we wanted to add water pitchers, ice and lemons at the last minute, they could accommodate that too. They had great ideas of add special touches to the plans we had made, so the event felt very customized for us.

A storm came through immediately proceeding our wedding, but Max and his team worked there magic and made the venue look absolutely stunning. He knew exactly how to handle a time of complete chaos. We cannot say enough good things about our experience with Sun In My Belly.

Even though our wedding was out of state (Western NC) and the venue staff made things challenging (no kitchen use), Sun In My Belly rose to the occasion. They were professional, extremely kind to us and above all delicious!

We are almost at our one-year anniversary and friends and family members still tell us how good the food was and ask for recommendations. Our guests have told us it was, “the best wedding food” they’d ever had and that our wedding was one of their, “top three.”

Sun In My Belly truly made the day special for us in so many ways. We are lifelong fans and lucky to live close enough for dinner on a regular basis.

We had Sun in My Belly cater for our wedding last year and it was amazing! We had several compliments from our guests that they thoroughly enjoyed the spread! They were so helpful and willing to work with our wants and needs! I was wanting a classy Southern spread for our Cocktail Hour, and we were smitten with several appetizers and were having to chose between between the Fried Green Tomatoes and the Pimento Cheese to finish out our menu. Our contact there suggested combining them and putting the Pimento Cheese on top of the Fried Green Tomato. Life changing! I so appreciated their willingness to make custom changes to accommodate us. The set-up was gorgeous and it was so wonderful, as the bride, to have confidence in our menu and the hands that were delivering it. We loved the restaurant and knew that we would love the catering as well. Thank you for making our day worry free and delicious!

So many brides say they didn't get to eat on their wedding day, but I did and it was amazing. Sun in My Belly provided the perfect menu for me and my husband. We wanted our wedding to be very relaxed (like us) and wanted more of a tapas style / buffet style menu, not a huge sit down affair. They listened to what we wanted and stayed within our budget without skimping on the good stuff: corn muffins with pulled pork, meatball sliders, tomato basil soup served with grilled cheese bites (is your mouth watering? Cause mine is!) and that was just our passed hors d'oeuvres! We'll definitely be spending our anniversary at the SIMB cafe, chowing down on SIMB mac n' cheese and reminiscing on our beautiful wedding day!

We opted for a buffet rather than a seated dinner - SiMB laid it out very artfully, and was able to accommodate our guests with dietary restrictions. In fact, they prepared a special entree for our one vegan friend, found her amongst our guests, and made sure that she got it - service that we didn't even ask for. Amazing! Our friend was thrilled and said that she'd never eaten so well at a wedding! SiMB was easy to work with, the food was fresh AND delicious, and the staff were helpful, efficient, and kind. Hire them - you won't regret it!

I can not even start to tell you how many compliments I received on the food at my wedding. Max and his team are awesome! I was the first wedding at my venue and Max pulled it off like he had done 50 weddings at this venue. All the things I was clueless about he stepped in and calmed all my fears (locations of stations, lines at the bar, traffic flow, etc) Sun in my Belly provided delicious food for my wedding....but did SO much more too! Let me just say that having good food at my wedding was the goal because all too often it's dried up chicken and wilted salads unless you can afford $100 a head. Well, that's what I thought, anyway. SIMB delivered like no other on the food front at a very reasonable rate. When you go to leave the venue and there is literally no food left, you know you had a successful choice. The staff was also well equipped to serve up drinks and keep everything refreshed. Our guests kept commenting on the quality of food, the amount of vegetarian choices that weren't the salad, and the creatively refreshing drink options.

On the vegetarian option note, definitely a good choice if you need something for yourself or others with dietary restrictions but not everyone will have. SIMB does an excellent job at balancing enough goodies for meat lovers while keeping veggie folks happy. They'll even do vegan upon request.

Overall, I'm happy with the quality of food, the happiness of my guests, and the gorgeous linens Max, Emily, and team secured for my wedding. Highly recommend them if you have an event you need catered!

Sun in My Belly did an amazing job for my wedding! When I first approached my mother and told her I wanted a vegetarian wedding, she freaked out, thinking that the guests would leave hungry. After out first tasting, she no longer had that fear. The hardest part was choosing which yummy selections we wanted on our menu. We had too many choices, and Allison was so accommodating to all our special requests. Even now, a month later, people’s first comment to me is how much they loved the food. The presentation and service was great as well. I couldn’t be more pleased. Max and Emily even helped with decorating suggestions. They all really made my special day flow flawlessly. I couldn’t be more pleased. Everyone who attended was so impressed with Sun in My Belly, that my brother and his fiancé are using them for their upcoming wedding as well.

When my husband and I chose our venue for our wedding, they gave us a list of recommendations for caterers. This was ideal, knowing that this list of vendors that had worked the gardens and were highly trusted. In seeing the list, I chose Sun and my Belly right off the bat because they are known in Atlanta for delicious and creative food (plus had a great name!!). I will say that we met with several other companies and no one compared what so ever to their customer service, pricing and wonderful selections. After deciding on Sun in my Belly, we found out that they were typically the top choice for those who booked at our location.

In describing what we envisioned, the kind of tastes we have, as well as services we expected, Max and his staff listened and made us feel comfortable with no pressure. I trusted everyone I met and had no fear that they wouldn't deliver exceptional service and tasty dishes!

Susan and the event staff keep us well informed on scheduling and set up throughout the whole process and on the day of our wedding. The food was wonderful; still to this day, our guest rave about the food (because it wasn't typicall drab wedding food!). It wasn't just mouth watering, it was beautifully arranged and the staff was attentive and friendly.

I can honestly tell you that Sun in my Belly will never disappoint! They are on my speed dial for any future events that I have. Thank you again for helping make our special day unforgettable!!!

My husband and I got married on May 14, 2011 at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. Many vendors were responsible for making our wedding memorable, but the professionals from Sun in my Belly provided catering that our guests are still raving about months later.
When my husband and I first got engaged, we knew we wanted our wedding to incorporate a few essential elements: a beautiful venue, a great band, and fantastic food. We had been to weddings that served room temperature, overcooked meals; we wanted to treat our guests to truly delicious food. Why sacrifice taste and quality at one of the biggest celebrations of your life?
Enter Sun in my Belly Catering + Event Design. From the first tasting, we were awed by the attention to detail in food preparation and presentation. Max, the Executive Director, guided us through our options, from menus, to linens, to table arrangements. His creative vision helped us achieve a stunning backdrop on which to serve the chef’s creations on the night of our wedding.
In keeping with their commitment to local and fresh ingredients, Sun in my Belly artfully displayed a spread of delicacies that were both in season and cooked to perfection – no small feat considering the amount that had to be prepared. Our guests chased after trays of passed hors d’ oeuvres and returned to the buffet stations for second and third helpings.
The team from Sun in my Belly made our dreams for our wedding reception a reality. Their impeccable service, streamlined organization, and passion for excellent cuisine eliminated the stress that normally accompanies event planning, making me one happy bride.

Everyone loved the food -- especially the meatball sliders.

Max is orgainzed, responsive and super professional. He worked with our coordiantor and florist with ease. We were taken care of every step of the way and their waiters and bar staff were wonderful!

Sun in My Belly initially intrigued us because of their interesting name, but we were floored by their service, the quality of the food, and their price point.

When my fiancee and I started looking at the menu, we found that it lined up perfectly with our desires for a sophisticated yet down-home feeling meal with a touch of the old South after the wedding. The dishes were innovative, made with local ingredients, and worked for a variety of people.

At the tasting, the staff could not have been more accommodating. We had a great time trying out their fantastic food, and fell in love with the pimento cheese, figs, and of course the wild mushroom ravioli!

At the wedding, we had a small problem with some of the set up staff making some noise during the ceremony, but it was momentary and I am sure accidental. The fact that the buffet food was going to be located very near to the ceremony area was probably the main cause. Other than that one instance, they were fantastic.

The food came out exactly as the tasting, and the wedding guests loved it! My wife and I did get to eat, and the food was fantastic. The ravioli disappeared quickly, of course! Everyone had a great meal that will be remembered as part of our wonderful wedding, and it was well worth the price. We would strongly recommend them again!

We absolutely loved Sun in My Belly. It all started with our tasting, which was held at their cafe in Atlanta. They were really nice about being flexible with timing, because we live 9 hours away and were planning from afar. Much of our planning was done long distance and they made that very easy for us to do.

The food is incredible, too. And, they worked with us on a menu that would please my meat eating husband and myself, the vegetarian. They packed us a wonderful to go box and had plates ready for us to go when we sat down at our table. I was very surprised at their pricing; it's very reasonable.

The only reason I give a half star less on professionalism is that it was a bit difficult to figure out who exactly we were working with. We conversed with Max the entire time, but different people were sometimes cc'd on emails. All of the above were very professional, timely, and helpful, but I like to know exactly who I can speak to about things, and it wasn't always clear.

I really enjoyed working with their team and would highly recommend them!

They did outstanding on all aspects.
Worked with/to our budget (HUGE factor in Atlanta with wedding catering).
Their menu selection to choose from was amazing, literally everything/anything was a choice. The tasting was incredible, all food items were absolutely delicious, more than expected quantity, etc.
They guided the process carefully, and worked with us on our level (we were experienced with planning and catering events). They have the ability to do everything from manage the process, ceremony, venue, etc., to linens, tabelware, settings, etc.,etc., and are well-qualified and well-experienced to do an excellent job with any of the services they offer.
They stood out above all other vendors and made-up for any areas that any other vendor may have slipped (our cake vendor was our mistake). They did everything they said they would do and more, without asking.
Their food and service impressed all of our guests, including my family members who are unabashed, discerning, restaurant owners, chefs, and caterers themselves.
I do not have these types of compliments often, but SIMB is more than deserving, I would recommend them wholly and will definitely work with them again someday, without any question!

Great Experience with an Atlanta Favorite

SIMB was a pleasure to work with. Hilary and Megan were incredibly responsive and helpful and they even came up with unique dishes and catering solutions to make our wedding menu even stronger. Walking around our reception, we saw clear plates and got lots of positive feedback. We also had rain on our wedding day and they managed to flip the entire dinner service to a new location without any issue. One thing we also loved is that they offer a completely vegan, nut free curry for guests who need a special entree. They are a bit pricey, but the quality and service were well worth it. Catering is a HUGE part of your wedding and the team at SIMB are real pros.

A Sun in ALL of My Guest's Belly!

Sun in My Belly catered my wedding this year and they did a PHENOMENAL job.

First - the planning and service leading up to the event was outstanding. Their team was always extremeley responsive and attentive and provide a lot of great insight to help you plan a wonderful meal for your event. Hilary and Michelle were especially awesome. Their tasting process is wonderful and was extremely enjoyable - they're really helpful with helping you find the right dish for you/your event.

At the event - the food was just as good as the tastings. I had guests say that it was some of the best catered food they'd ever had. In addition, numerous guests commented on how outstanding their waiters and waitresses were.

If you're looking for a trusted and experienced restaurant for catering for a large event across metro-Atlanta, I highly recommend Sun in My Belly. They are a little pricey as compared to some catering companies, but WORTH every penny. They will not disappoint!

When we had our tasting with Sun in my Belly, we both knew instantly we loved their food and wanted to hire them! We signed them the day of our tasting. We chose Sun In My Belly to cater our wedding and are very glad we did! Their food is original and delicious, and they try to use local and seasonal products whenever possible. The chef, Alison, is not only an amazing cook but was absolutely a joy to work with. She was open to our ideas and flexible with the menu. She helped us to plan an incredible rhurbarb-based signature cocktail. She was very organized but laid back, and she relieved any anxieties we had about the wedding day events. In addition to the food, Sun In My Belly was a great resource for other vendors, and helped us to get tables, chairs. lighting etc. On the actual day, the spread was beautiful. The food was easily the best wedding food we've ever eaten. We went with a southern theme, so got the fried chicken with several fresh vegetable sides. Everything was wonderfully prepared and we got tons of compliments on the food. We have no regrets and are very happy to recommend them to anyone looking to host an event in the Atlanta area!

My experience with SIMB was amazing. They were responsive to the (probably) hundreds of e-mails I sent while planning our wedding! I never had to stress or worry that things wouldn't be taken care of because SIMB is thorough and so collaborative when planning. I met with my coordinator/florist and someone from the catering team and we talked through my ideas and they provided amazing suggestions! Use their expertise and trust them! Everything came together beautifully the day of! The food was amazing, the signature cocktail was a hit, and everything flowed wonderfully. We received compliments from practically everyone on the food and display! "Best wedding food I've ever had!" and "I want to eat that mac 'n cheese everyday of my life!" were thrown around repeatedly! I couldn't have been more pleased! You're going to pay a little more than your run of the mill caterer but it is 100% worth every penny!

Sun in My Belly did a great job with our catering. I still have people singing praises about the food at our wedding. Looking back, I just wish I could have eaten more of the wild mushroom ravioli and fried green tomatoes, those were my two favorites. T was the manager in charge of our event, and we could not have asked for anyone better. She was reliable, reassuring, so incredibly friendly, and professional. She was one of my favorite vendors. The only thing I had an issue with was how long it took to get the contract correct and finalized. The person in charge of the contracts portion was not quick to respond, and a lot of times would send me the same contract without making the changes I had requested. However, it was completely worth going through that to have the wonderful food we did, at the great price we got it for, working with one of the most reliable and friendliest vendors in the industry.

Sun in my belly is expensive, but comparable to others and good at what they do. The food is absolutely incredible (even the leftovers the night after were divine!). Emily was our day-of-wedding-coordinator, and FABULOUS. We met twice, and she knew exactly what I wanted and delivered on the day. I don't want to think about what the day would have been like without her! We happened to get married during the Flood of 2009 weekend, and Emily maintained the vision I had. If I were to do it all over, I would definitely have used Sun in my Belly and Emily.

Excellent partners who want to help create your perfect day

I’m so glad we chose Sun in my Belly to cater and coordinate our wedding. I wanted our reception to feel more like a dinner party, so of course, the food had to wow our guests. Their team definitely delivered!

The food was just delicious. I didn’t even see one of the passed appetizers because they were gobbled up so quickly. Then, when we walked around to our guests’ tables, all I saw were plates wiped clean.

During planning, Megan helped us find the perfect menu. She gave us plenty of options and worked with us to customize the courses based on our tastes, and she found ways to give all our guests a fantastic meal without us having to go overboard. From presentation to day-of service, they covered everything with professionalism and care.

Our coordinator, Hillary, was a rock star. We had a DIY wedding and she was very understanding of our vibe and patient when I wasn’t sure what I wanted. She checked in frequently and made me feel confident that everything was going to come together perfectly.

Throughout the process, Sun in my Belly’s team had excellent communication, and they were professional and reliable. You really felt like they were on your team. We had a few scary gusts of wind during our cocktail hour, and I saw at least five of their staff diving onto tables to rescue and rearrange bottles, signs and décor. I’m so grateful to them for really wanting to make our day great. It was the perfect event!

Delicious Wedding Food

We would definitely recommend SIMB for your wedding caterer. We were impressed with their tasting and appreciated the foodie and artistic aspect of their food. They were very accommodating in being creative with changing small parts of their dishes to suit our preferences. They delivered on the day of and some of our guests said it was the best wedding food they’ve ever had. Definitely recommend the miso glazed salmon, mushroom ravioli, Parmesan mashed potatoes, assortment of roasted veggies (as many as possible, colors were beautiful) and pulled pork corn muffin apps. We wish they would streamline the communication before the wedding to one person. We had different discussions with many different people on their staff before the big day and everyone wasn’t always communicating with each other, so honestly the process was a little stressful for us. But the food was amazing on our big day, which was a priority for our wedding, and we heard great things about their staff, especially the fun bartenders. We would highly recommend them!

I love Sun In My Belly! They provided the food and specialty drinks for our casual Mexican-themed rehearsal dinner and for our formal wedding. We received so many compliments on the food and the drinks. Everyone came expecting standard wedding fare, but Sun In My Belly really made everything stand out. They made us specialty margarita mixes that were the hit of the rehearsal dinner (I really wish I could keep those in my fridge all the time). The Mexican buffet was typical, but within our small budget and tasty (we cut out all the more expensive extras they proposed). They also gave a nice discount for doing both events. For the wedding, they really worked with us to make everything gluten and nut free, without making it seem to our guests that there was anything missing, and without ringing up the bill. One warning: they are definitely not the most responsive. I worked with Leanne, and I had to email her multiple times every time I needed anything The linens and other planning also all happened at the very last minute. I was glad that I didn't try to get rentals or event decorating services from them. In the end though, they did exactly what we wanted for everything, it was delicious, and it was within our budget.

Sun In My Belly catered my wedding at the Greystone in Piedmont Park. Max and his team delivered an outstanding event! We chose SIMB because we wanted something unique for our wedding and not many caterers in town understood our vision. When we met with Max to explain we wanted a Dim Sum style catering service with a combination of southern food and traditional Chinese food delivered as small plates, rather than shy away from our challenging catering request, Max and his team were eager to deliver our vision from the beginning. They worked with us during tastings to ensure we had exactly what we wanted for each dish. They took the time to understand and deliver what we wanted whereas several catering companies we first considered tried to convince us to do it differently in order to fit us into their own box. Max and his team curated an assortment of 10 different dishes for us (all delivered in pairs as small plates) and everything tasted unique but still authentic to the region. The food was also displayed beautifully. Many guests are still telling us that was one of the best meals they have had at a wedding. Thank you SIMB!

We were quite pleased with Sun in My Belly. Our venue didn’t have much of a kitchen space for the caterer, and I insisted on supplying my own bar. Neither of these was an issue to SiMB. They also had no trouble when confronted with a guest list that included lactose intolerant guests, celiacs, vegetarians, pescatarians and more. In fact, we had several of the guests with dietary restrictions tell us how excited they were to go to a wedding where they could actually eat a full meal. SiMB also made sure that we got to eat a proper meal. They had appetizers ready for us when we snuck off before the first dance, and then made sure food was waiting for us after the dance. Even when things didn’t go perfectly during the planning process, SiMB stepped up to make things right. After we had a less than perfect tasting, SiMB promptly offered to do it again (we passed, as we understood that the host had an off-day, it happens). Simply put, when it came to what mattered to us—staying on budget, and delivering outstanding food and service—SiMB came through with shining colors.

I can't tell you how of our guests told us that night and in the weeks afterward how good the food was. The big hits were definitely the pesto trout, sweet potato hash, and an amazing penne pasta. We were so impressed with how friendly and helpful the entire staff was. Even if there were a few hiccups, as I'm sure there always are on any wedding day, we never knew a thing. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day, and Sun in My Belly was a huge part of that. Throughout the whole planning process, they were always very personable, flexible, and helpful...and always very understanding of a bride in panic-mode. They provide and coordinate everything all the way from the food, to the linens, all the way to the clean up(and everything in between). They also were great as far as working with our budget. I would recommend them to anyone planning a catered event.

Sun In My Belly are amazing. Not only was the food so good but they were extremely flexible with the payment. We had a huge increase in our guest count right before the wedding which raised our bill quite a bit and they were amazing in coming up with solutions. We did have a small bit of trouble communicating through email but it all worked out wonderfully and any problems were related to the planning service they offer (not the catering). I would recommend them to everyone.

My husband and I can't recommend Sun in My Belly highly enough. As soon as we signed our contract with them, I knew that I was well on my way to having a great wedding - and that proved to be absolutely right! Not only was their food phenomenal, but their day-of coordination services were fantastic. Emily Gomez was right there with me every step of the way both as my catering coordinator and day-of coordinator, which made the whole planning process that much easier. Not only did SIMB provide top-knotch services, but they were also able to work within our budget and made sure that Andrew and I felt comfortable with every decision we made. I can't thank Sun in My Belly enough! They truly helped make the best day of my life that much better.

Max at Sun in My Belly was great. We were able to have several tastings so that we knew exactly what we would want served. Max also invited us several times to the restaurant for a brunch as well! Everybody loved the food and it was presented in a beautiful manner. I'd highly recommend them for your wedding!

We had a courthouse wedding with a reception at SIMB. Excellent food was a top priority for us and they truly nailed it! The compliments are still rolling in - the shrimp and grit station was an unbelievable hit with our guests. :)
It really was a great place for us and the whole event was just what we were aiming for. To be direct, they didn't really offer a lot in the arena of decor (any additional lights, votives, bud vases were not offered) - only the very basics were provided. It was not really enough to create a festive atmosphere. I wasn't always clear on what we needed to bring in and what was provided, which was a little worrisome at times. But they also did not have any off the wall charges for flatware, etc. as I had seen in another review.
What they did have was sufficient and they were flexible with our florist getting the space to look snazzy without a ton of additional money spent. [BTW, Faith Flowers in VA Highland is awesome!] It ended up being a very cool back drop with the extra flourishes from our florist. The space itself generally has a nice rustic chic thing working for it. Plus, they let us bring in our booze, and provided mixers and such without charging us an arm and leg. That was a huge help for our budget.
All of the SIMB staff were FANTASTIC - the service was really great, our guests were well looked after. They were timely and well organized.
In organizing, we sometimes we communicated with Max and sometimes Emily. Then as the day approached someone else became our POC. There was definitely a bit of a disconnect and at times, we did feel a little brushed off. But our affair was very simple and we didn't need much hand holding. At the end of the day, they brought everything together just beautifully, so perhaps I need not have worried at all!
Bottom line, we were very pleased with with the job they did and just ecstatic about the food. The pricing was fair and the service was great! Many thanks, SIMB!

Sun in my Belly is one of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta. They are great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Some standout dishes for me include the wedge salad, fried green tomatoes and pimento cheese, flank steak and the fried chicken. The restaurant has a great wine and beer selection, and it's such a comfortable and friendly atmosphere to enjoy a delicious meal.

For catering in Atlanta, Sun in my Belly can't be beat. My husband and I had no doubts who we wanted to cater our wedding in Atlanta September 2016. To be diligent, we did try one other big caterer in town, and there was absolutely no competition. Not only can SIMB not be beat when it comes to quality of the food, but their service is unsurpassed. They were incredible every step of the way, helping us plan the menu (customizing dishes based on our tastes) and answering every question we had (and we had many, many, many questions!). They helped bring our event together by bringing up and helping solve some of the small details that we had not yet thought about. Their catering staff day-of were great, with many guests complimenting the friendliness and effectiveness of the staff. If you are planning a wedding or any other event in Atlanta, Sun in my Belly catering is an absolute must!

I want to start out by saying that Sun in my Belly's food is incredible. I've loved the restaurant for a while which is why I wanted them to cater our wedding. The food at the wedding was delicious and I have gotten tons of compliments on it. The servers were all very professional and did a great job.
We had a few problems leading up to the wedding however. We worked with several different people at SIMB, and we were never sure who our point person was. We liked all of them - but it seemed like we were having to repeat ourselves everytime we met because it was someone new. Our space at the venue was tight - and every person seemed to have a different solution for fitting everyone - the week of the wedding we probably made 6 different seating plans. In addition, the person who came to our walk through at the venue wasn't even the person who was at the wedding. However - when we complained about this they gave us a small discount which was appreciated.
Overall - SIMB served great food and I think that's really the most important thing so I would recommend them!

First things first: Sun in my Belly came highly touted as the best caterer in Atlanta. We were planning a low-key weekday wedding with food and photography as the highlights, so we were very interested in getting the best possible food. That being said, they delivered. We were blown away with the quality of the food at our event. It was even better than the tasting. Months later, our guests are still complimenting us for serving the best food they've ever had at a wedding. It was a huge hit. In that regard, we are very happy that we chose them.

That being said, the professionalism during the booking process and the beginning of our event left something to be desired. We went back and forth with our coordinator quite often, as there was quite a bit of confusion about how we wanted the layout of our room. Even after my husband drew a map on a blueprint provided by our venue, it felt like we were not being understood. Fortunately, we were able to set everything up ourselves the day before our wedding.

After three in-person meetings and countless email and phone communications, we had established the timeline of our event to run from late afternoon to early evening. Somehow, when the contract was signed (during the tasting), a later time was printed on the contract. Despite lots of conversation between us and the coordinator, referencing the correct timeline, this was not noticed by either party. We found out immediately after our ceremony that SIMB had not shown up yet. When we got her on the phone, our coordinator actually yelled at me and said it was my fault. They arrived about an hour later, and were serving hors d'oeurves and drinks shortly after, but it made for a very awkward "cocktail hour." Again, I take responsibility for overlooking this part of the contract. But you would think that, after repeatedly discussing the timeline, our coordinator would have caught it too. I emailed them afterwards to address this and they never replied.

My husband and I were on a tight budget for our wedding but knew we wanted to prioritize having good food. Sun in my belly's food was delicious and we received many compliments from guests about how good everything was. In interacting with staff in planning meetings, I can't say they were overly friendly or warm, but they were all certainly professional. Their prices are higher than some other quotes we got, but we also understood this because of the quality of the food (creativity of dishes, local and organic ingredients). Some things I wish I had known before booking since we were on a budget: the original quote did not include rental of linens, flatware, etc. and SIMB requires that you rent these items from them. Those costs can add significantly to your bill depending on a number of factors, including how many tables (if any) your venue provides, how many table linens you need, what kind of linen you select, etc. I wish that the cost of rental items had been included on the original quote, as that would have likely influenced my decision because of the significant increase in cost. Two other minor issues: My plan was to have a cocktail hour outdoors and dinner and dancing indoors, and I was told in a planning meeting that in the event of rain the cocktail hour could still take place outdoors (under a tent). However, on the wedding day (it rained), they told us that they couldn't actually split the food service. I don't know if I had received incorrect information ahead of time or there was a miscommunication but it was a minor disappointment from what I understood the rain plan to be. Finally, a server cleared my mothers food before she had time to eat it, and it was a special vegetarian meal so they didn't have any extra when she went and asked them about it.

Overall I was very happy with quality of the food and service day-of, with the minor issues listed above related to flexibility and "hidden"/unexpected costs.

The food was so delicious on my wedding day that I would use Sun in my Belly again despite a few problems. They did reimburse me accodingly for the issues. We had two guests that were vegans and they forgot to prepare the special vegan meals for these guests. While they did scramble to put something together, it was too late and the guests had already eaten salad and potatoes. We were supposed to have our speciality cocktails served in mason jars because that fit in with the theme of our rustic wedding (and I had candles in mason jars throughout the venue to tie in this theme) but they were not served in the mason jars. They forgot the mint for the drinks, too. One of the staff members was rude to the caretaker of a family member. Aside from these issues, they did a good job and the food was so good that I would use them again if we did it over again.

We chose SIMB for our wedding reception that took place in Sept or 2013. Even though our wedding was over 6 months ago our guests are still raving about how delicious the food was at our wedding. We live in the Kirkwood neighborhood and have always frequented the restaurant so when it came time to selecting a caterer we went straight to SIMB. We are so happy we made that decision as our table linens, dishware, bar service, appetizers, and main courses were amazing.I would definitely recommend SIMB for anyone who is looking for a great caterer for their wedding or any event. After posting a negative review about my catering and coordination package with Sun in My Belly for my August 2018 wedding, I was contacted by the owner and offered an apology and partial refund.

The restaurant is great and luckily so was the food itself at the wedding. The waitstaff and bar tenders were delightful. Unfortunately the coordinator/manager was uncommunicative and did not follow through with most of tasks outlined in our contract. It caused great stress and I would not suggest hiring them for any event coordination.

The food at sun in my belly was pretty good - however their responsiveness level was very low (they claimed to be too busy working on other events) which is not what you want to hear when your wedding is a couple of weeks away. Had to involve the venue coordinator to get a response after which they were more helpful. They would get a higher ranking if they had better customer service

Food was good. My guests had great things to say about the food, in fact.

But the negotiating process was a nightmare. We felt that we were being backed into a corner to spend much more money than we expected.
Our wedding was at home and was very DIY. All we wanted was food, no rentals, and no pointless extra fees.
There are tons of hidden fees, and sometimes the math was even wrong... making it seem like they were hoping to slip something by us to charge more. I obviously didn't trust that we were in the best hands, and we had to fight to get what we wanted. Ultimately, we had to be a little rude so that our point would be made, which was just uncomfortable.

If they had handled our business better, I would have wonderful things to say because the food really was great.
But nope I would not recommend them to anyone unless you have money to burn.
