Exceptional Food and Outstanding Service (Market 93 / Smokin Willy)

We could not have been happier with Market 93 as our wedding caterer.
From the planning process through the wedding day, they were professional, responsive, organized, and incredibly easy to work with. They helped us navigate menu selections, logistics, and event details with confidence, and their communication throughout the process was excellent.

One of the things that impressed us most was that they cooked the food onsite. The quality of the meal was outstanding, and we received countless compliments from our guests about how delicious everything was. It is not easy to serve a large wedding meal at a high level, but Market 93 absolutely delivered.

What truly set them apart, however, was their flexibility and professionalism on the wedding day. Unexpected weather created challenges during cocktail hour, requiring guests to be spread across multiple spaces. The Market 93 team immediately adapted, setting up an additional bar and adjusting service plans to accommodate the changing situation. They remained calm, solution-oriented, and focused on ensuring our guests had the best experience possible.
As the mother of the groom, I can honestly say they were one of the easiest and most dependable vendors we worked with throughout the entire wedding process.

If you are looking for a caterer that provides exceptional food, outstanding service, and a team that will go above and beyond when unexpected challenges arise, I highly recommend Market 93.

Awesome vendor!

Smokin Willys catered my wedding in June and I can’t recommend enough. They were flexible and helped us figure out exactly what we wanted. They not only catered, but helped us plan the meal/set-up and provided bartenders, linens, and an event captain that helped keep everything running smoothly the day of (so we could actually just enjoy the day!!). Also… the food was delicious!!!! You can’t go wrong with them

Great service, great food!

As a family we’d eaten at Smokin’ Willy’s many times. For the wedding, wehad a fantastic experience with Smokin’ Willy’s catering and highly recommend them! We had several vendors to visit for tastings and it was at the tasting in Smokin’ Willy’s we decided they were it. The food is amazing! On the run up to the event, they were extremely professional, responsive and flexible. On the day of, the service was amazing and we got so many compliments on the food! We couldn’t be happier with the outcome. They helped make our wedding an amazing and enjoyable experience, I couldn’t speak more highly of them!

Great food and service!

Smokin Willy catered our wedding on 9/21/24 at Riverside on the Potomac, and we are so happy that we chose them! We went with the Groom's Choice and added mashed potatoes, and people are still talking about the brisket. We had the bacon wrapped scallops at cocktail hour and they were delicious! Everyone at Smokin Willy was extremely professional, easy to work with, and alleviated our stress leading up to the wedding. Tom was great at our tasting, and Olivia as our main contact throughout the process was amazing to work with. She promptly answered any questions we had with a good amount of detail to make everything easy to understand. Holly was also great during our walkthrough at Riverside and made us feel so much better right before our wedding. I highly recommend Smokin Willy!

Stress Free, Impeccable Service

We used Smokin Willy for our wedding and it could not have gone better! From the initial quote to the wedding day, every single Smokin Willy representative we interacted with was responsive, knowledgeable, and helpful. We worked with Olivia throughout the planning process, and her knowledge about our venue was unmatched. She thought of small details we never even considered, and made my experience as a DIY bride as easy as can be. They made our day go super smoothly and stress free. Even without a florist or a wedding planner, all we had to do was leave our decor, centerpieces, and alcohol for them and they worked with our day-of coordinator to put together the reception of our dreams! They also paid special attention to us as the bride and groom we were taken care of all throughout the entire day with our appetizers, drinks, and food handed to us so we could spend as much time with our guests. The food was PHENOMENAL and the bartenders made sure the drinks kept flowing. At the end of the night, they neatly took down everything and packed in back in our boxes for easy pick up the next morning. All in all, I couldn’t have asked for a more competent, thorough, and organized full-service caterer that went above and beyond every step of the way.

Best catering team for my dream wedding!

I recently got married and had Smokin Willy cater my large wedding. They are absolutely fantastic and contributed to my dream wedding! From the initial tasting, through many planning meetings, and to the final walk-through, they made every step so easy. They were so organized and easy to talk-to. They provided many suggestions, photos, and menus, but also listened to what we wanted and envisioned. On the day of, they were so professional and quick at their job. The food was also delicious and cooked on site, which my guests raved about. Every detail was great and I would definitely recommend Smokin Willy to cater any event you need!

Perfect choice!

We had such a good experience with smokin willy! The entire catering staff was a joy to work with; everyone was so responsive and flexible. We made a bunch of last minute changes to guest count, menu items, signature drinks, etc and Sarah didnt bat an eye. It was so nice having a vendor team who truly wanted us to have the best day possible. We ordered off of the "beyond bbq" menu and all of our guests raved about the food! Would recommend 100%

Amazing experience

We used Smokin Willy for our wedding and it was an amazing experience! All the staff were very responsive and helpful. Excellent Service, Delicious Food!

I cannot thank Smoking Willy's enough for catering our Rehearsal Dinner Bar-B-Que. The food (ribs, brisket and chicken) was melt in your your mouth tender and exceptional flavor. The sides were fabulous as well! I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a caterer. Their prices are very reasonable and their staff courteous, knowledgeable, and always helpful. The food was even better than the more expensive caterers that were hired for the actual wedding. The best part is that they have more than barbeque on their catering menu. We would not hesitate hiring them for any event in the future. Thank you to all at Smoking Willy's for making the rehearsal dinner effortless on our part.

Amazing team, food & service!

Smokin Willy & their Market 93 Provisions group are AWESOME! I manage and own venues that do events and we have our own in-house kitchens and catering, but our kids chose a venue for their wedding that required an outside caterer. Amazing food

We had over 170 guests at our wedding, and every single one loved their food. Everything tasted fresh. The catering staff was extremely tentative to my groom and myself, and also to all of our guests. It ended up raining in our wedding day, and all of the staff was extremely proficient in setting up and breaking down the indoor aisle and setting up all 21 of our tables. Our experience with staff while planning was also amazing, all of the event coordinators I worked with were responsive and amazing.

Absolutely the Best Food and People

Amazing catered food for our wedding and equally amazing staff! Sarah B who was our point of contact throughout the almost year long process was amazing from start to finish and a borderline wedding planner! Even though we barely ate that day, what we did was even better than we remembered and the food has been one of the top things we keep hearing about from friends and family! Stay true to what they do and go with the BBQ stuff... you wont be let down! Great folks over here and our assigned team led by Drew was absolutely spectacular on the big day! Every single staff member was extremely friendly and only added to making our day that much more special. Hands down best bang for your buck if you're looking for a caterer for a large event.

Delicious food and great service

Working with Smokin’ Willy was awesome! They were kind and very easy to work with. The food was delicious! Lots of people were telling us after the wedding how good the bacon wrapped scallops were at cocktail hour. Delicious food and great service!

We had a 50 person wedding at Bear Chase manor and hired Smokin Willy as our caterer. Unfortunately the venue space did not allow for the set up of the full grill experience, but the catering dept helped us order from their takeout menu for catering the event, provided us with a bartender who set up our food buffet, tended our bar and went above and beyond putting left overs away and cleaning up the kitchen after. Rosa and Holly always responded to my emails promptly and thoroughly. The food was incredible and everyone raved about it at and after our wedding. We ordered pulled pork, pulled chicken, and brisket, macaroni & cheese, potato salad, green beans, and corn bread as well as deviled eggs and chocolate covered strawberries, and everything was delicious! We also rented tables and chairs from them and the delivery staff was professional and set up everything we needed.

Overall Great Experience

Smokin Willy catered our wedding and exceeded our expectations. Best Food Multiple Guests have had at a Wedding

Smokin Willy was recommended to us by the manager at our wedding venue and she was ABSOLUTELY RIGHT about how DELICIOUS the food was! Oh my gosh! Multiple guests said it was the best food they’ve ever had at a wedding, and they’ve been to a lot of nice weddings. Our wedding was in a winery/ barn where our theme was ‘rustic elegance’, so bbq hit the spot. Smokin Willy was already there when I arrived at the venue at 10 am setting up and starting to smoke the brisket. We had them do a buffet with foods that you can eat with a fork and knife: brisket, chicken, roasted vegetables, cornbread, mac and cheese, and potato salad. Everything was SO GOOD. We also had them make a pretzel bar with chocolate and cheese sauces for a late night snack, and that was delicious, too! And went over very well with the slightly intoxicated guests! The price was reasonable, and it was very nice that we were able to supply our own alcohol and have the bartenders from Smokin Willy serve it; that saved a lot of money versus having to use a caterer’s drink package. Everyone who we worked with at the company was extremely nice and professional, too. Especially on the wedding day; they even brought hor' dourves to my husband and I as we were taking pictures! I’d recommend Smokin Willy in a heartbeat!

Amazing caterer!

My husband and I had a fantastic experience using Smokin Willy to cater our May wedding. We were one of the many couples who postponed their weddings in spring 2020 (went from May 2020 to May 2021 to ultimately May 2022). Smokin Willy was amazing to work with from start to finish. They were very understanding and communicative throughout the entire process. We feel very lucky that they were still able to be a part of our day--3 years later! The food was absolutely incredible (and yes, they do have vegetarian and vegan options available for guests who may need them!). We had multiple guests come up to us and tell us the BBQ was the best food they've ever had at a wedding. They also have a great selection of items to rent, like tables, dessert stands, etc. Truly a full-service caterer! The staff was also incredible. From the planning stage to the day-of, staff from Smokin Willy was checking in with me, providing me with (much-appreciated!) reminders about deadlines, and checking in with me throughout the day. I honestly felt like I had an additional day-of coordinator built into the day by hiring Smokin Willy because they were so attentive and considerate. Anything I needed--they were on it (and proactively asked me if I need things I hadn't even thought of!). We absolutely plan on using Smokin Willy for any catering needs in the future and would recommend them without any reservations to anyone considering hiring them for their event, wedding or otherwise!

When me and my fiancée were planning our wedding, we knew we wanted BBQ. Smokin’ Willy’s was the first caterer that we did a tasting with, and as soon as we tried it, we knew we had to have it at our wedding! The food was delicious at the tasting, but it was even better at the wedding! All of our guests could not stop raving on how good the food was! Best food ever!

Smokin Willys is AMAZING! First of all, best wedding food EVER. We got comments from so many of our guests how our food was literally some of the best wedding food they had ever had! We even all sat around and ate the leftovers at the end of the night they were that good!!! Logan was our event lead and she was absolutely awesome! She was so nice, so responsive, and so on top of everything! She triple checked everything with us to make sure it was exactly how we wanted it to be. The catering team even brought us a special plate of appetizers and drinks during our quite moment before the reception. They also checked in with us throughout the night to make sure we were happy with everything, which of course we were!!! Thank you so much to Logan and the Smokin Willys team!!!

This caterer was incredible to work with from start to finish. Their response time is so quick and they are really willing to do as much as they can to cover all of the little details and requests you have. Every single staff member was so nice and accommodating the night of our wedding and the food was AMAZING. We got so many compliments the next day. They also made sure myself, the groom, and the bridal party were fed immediately following the ceremony, which was so important to me. They also packed up and labeled all the leftovers, truly going the extra mile. Thank you all!!

All around best catering!

We knew that we wanted barbecue for our wedding and Smokin Willy was a no brainer! From our first contact, we knew we were in good hands. We got to go to their restaurant for a tasting and everything was so delicious, it was hard to choose our menu! Throughout the entire process, Ashley was extremely helpful and organized every step of the way. We emailed back and forth very frequently, even about the smallest details that I wanted to work out, so that we felt confident leading up to our big day. Our wedding was the best day of our lives and Smokin Willy definitely had a huge part in that. Everything was exactly how we wanted it (and better). Highly Recommended

We originally chose Smokin Willy for our wedding in June because it was one of the more affordable in the area. What we didn’t know is how on top of everything they are and how great their customer service is. We first spoke with Ashley via email and she was great at answering all our questions and helping us stay within our budget while also having something nice for our special day. Our team lead for the day-of was Danielle and as soon as we met her for our venue walk-through, we knew we were in good hands. She asked so many good questions and was so organized. To save money, we made our own centerpieces and every table was different. Smokin Willy offered to set up all our centerpieces for us and they also helped with setup and breakdown of tables and chairs which was SUCH a huge help. Oh-and the food was great! I would definitely recommend them for any event!

Smokin Willy's helped make our wedding day run seamlessly. The venue was bare and they were able to supply everything. The staff was exceptional and the food was fantastic. Any leftovers were packed way beyond expectation.
I can't thank Ashley, Jackie and the bartenders especially for providing the ultimate in customer service.

Great food for any style & an amazing team

Smokin Willy's was a huge part of making our day so special. With a wide array of food options, we were able to find the perfect menu for our wedding. A huge difference between them and other caterers in the area is that they make your food on site instead of making it earlier in the day and keeping it warmed all day (this is often why wedding food is sub-par). This combined with their service made for amazing wedding food that everyone enjoyed. We had guests begging for any leftovers after the wedding! While BBQ is in the name of the restaurant, they have many more options than traditional BBQ that are all amazing. We chose steak medallions and quarter chicken with various sides and would highly recommend. Another big plus was being able to provide our own alcohol for the bar. This was a big cost savings. Aside from the food, their staff went above and beyond to make sure that me and my husband were taken care of. They brought us hor d'oeuvres and a drink to the side house while everyone was starting cocktail hour so that we could have a moment alone, made sure we had a full plate of food during dinner, and helped carry out all of the little details we asked for when planning. Smokin Willy was an all-around great choice and no matter what type of venue, I would highly recommend.

Truly Phenomenal Wedding Caterer. 1000% Recommend

Going with Smokin Willy as our caterer was truly one of the best decisions we made during our wedding planning process. We can’t say enough good things about both their food and their service; everything was phenomenal. We would choose Smokin Willy again in a heartbeat and can recommend them without reservation to anyone planning their wedding.

First, the food. Everything was delicious; we loved it, and our guests loved it. I could eat their cornbread and mac and cheese all day long. Smokin Willy clearly knows what they are doing and how to prepare food for a large group like at a wedding. Sometimes at weddings the food can be underwhelming due to the challenges of cooking for a crowd; at other weddings I’ve had lukewarm food or food that was just average. This was absolutely not the case at our wedding thanks to the talented chefs at Smokin Willy. We went with one of their pre-set menus (the menu with salmon, shrimp and carne asada as main dishes) and it was served buffet style. Our guests loved getting to try a little bit of everything, or load up on their favorite items. They also had good options for vegetarians, so there was truly something for everyone. The food was also very reasonably priced, and the prices were more than fair given the amazing quality and service.

Speaking of the service, Smokin Willy seriously excels on that front as well. Our contact during the planning process was Ashley; she is wonderful, super responsive, incredibly helpful and accommodating. She worked with us through a date change due to COVID as well as numerous adjustments to our quote as we navigated changing restrictions on guest count. Her kindness and professionalism truly made the process of planning and replanning a wedding much, much easier. The other individuals we worked with from Smokin Willy were wonderful as well: friendly, professional, and hardworking. We also loved the rental options that Smokin Willy offered; the farm tables we rented were beautiful, and it simplified our lives during the planning process to know that they would handle not only the food but also the rentals.

Thoughtful, intentional, and most wonderful catering experience. 100% recommend.

I cannot say enough good things about Smokin Willys. First off, the food is amazing, and was a huge hit with the guests. There was something for everyone there and was absolutely an incredible part of our wedding. But the food is only a quarter of what makes them incredible (albeit an important part of any wedding, and 100% would pick them on food alone). For starters, I had the pleasure of working with Ashley to help coordinate and set up everything for the wedding. Ashley is incredibly detail oriented, and so kind and patient. She walked us through every detail, constantly made changes to our quote and helped us talk through decisions when we really didn't understand what was happening. Coming from someone who has never planning a large event, I found this to be incredibly helpful. We didn't have a coordinator, but Ashely very much helped to fill those gaps in our planning incompetence. Then we had the good pleasure of meeting with Holly (who would be our day of lead from SW) at our venue to review the details from the contract, and made sure to walk through the entire day with us. Holly was wonderful and a joy to work with! And was such an amazing coordinator for everything. Smokin Willy, come to find out, was not just a caterer but dang near a work crew for the entire event. They set up centerpieces (under the instruction of family/friends), they would have set up the ceremony site for us (although we were there the night before and set it up ourselves), but the tore everything down for us when it was over. They again cooked delicious food on site that was a hit, but then also stayed and helped to clean everything up when the night was over and removed trash. We picked a venue where we were responsible for a ton of things because the venue was a small team (also highly recommend Briar Patch B&B), but SW made things so much easier. We also had them cater the Rehearsal Dinner the night before and received the same sort of attention to detail and level of service from them (without Holly: smaller event). I HIGHLY recommend going to a food tasting and talking with them about all that they do. It is a bit pricey, but 100% worth every penny. You won't regret it.

Best Wedding Caterer EVER!

The process working with Smokin Willy was seriously a dream. From our first interactions and tastings (we worked with Jaina and Tom) to when we started working with Ashley were amazing. They accommodated by millions of questions and changes with EASE. Ashley was extremely responsive, easy to work with, and quick to offer advice. We had a ton of decor elements (colored glassware) that we had bought and Ashley worked through all of the fine details of that with us to make our colored glassware dreams come true! We also were emailing her the week of to add heaters to our rentals because it was going to be chillier than we thought and it was done quickly and easily.

Besides the amazing staff, the food was the best wedding food I have ever had (I could be biased, but our guests said the same thing!!) We used Smokin Willy for our rehearsal and reception and everything was SO tasty. I would hire them again and again for every event!!! Thank you Smokin Willy team!

Great catering experience!

Smokin' Willy did a great job for our wedding on 10/24/20! They were professional, safe, and created the perfect atmosphere. Not only is the food delicious, but the team is fun and definitely knows how to put on a good event. All of our guests were raving about the food! Great organization, incredible food, and above and beyond service

Smokin Willy was both our caterer and our rentals for the wedding. Everyone we dealt with (Ashley, Olivia, and Holly especially!) was super helpful and did everything they could to make sure the day was special for us. The food and hors devours were incredible and everyone's only regret was that they were too full to eat more! The service was incredible and everyone went above and beyond in setting up chairs, moving tables, and running the bar all night. We would definitely choose Smokin Willy again!

The BEST to work with!!

WOW just WOW - 4 days to plan for a 58 person wedding

First I just want to say WOW we had our wedding this past Sunday, October 18th, 2020; and everything was absolutely AMAZING. I 100% have already recommended them to literally everyone I know.

Now let's get to the nitty-gritty! We found out our wedding caterer went out of business on Tuesday afternoon (our wedding was on Sunday) we immediately began calling other vendors to see availability, only a couple of caterers were actually available on such short notice. Smokin Willy did not originally have the staff to work our event on such short notice, however, after hearing our story Chris the owner was able to work with a couple of other restaurants in the area and was able to work our event. We literally had a 1-hour planning call with him at 10 pm on Tuesday night.

The very next day we had another 1-hour final planning call with our wedding planner and their event planner everything went smoothly and we were excited about our wedding again!

Fast forward (just 4 days) to Sunday the 18th our wedding day and I was absolutely astounded for only 4 days notice, the staff was amazing, the food was amazing, the service was amazing; Chris himself was there for at least some of the night if not all of it! Everyone couldn't believe how delicious everything was and they absolutely loved how we had everything plated. We did "family style" but plated so everybody got a little bit of everything!

They made sure the bride and groom got appetizers while we were taking photos and let me tell you those bacon-wrapped scallops are something to die for! They also made sure that during dinner we got our plates towards the beginning of service.

This review can only do so much, all I can tell you is I highly recommend them, and if you are on the fence on them just hire them! If they can handle an event in 4 days and make my Italian family happy they can make anyone happy!

Thank you again Chris/Ashley and the whole Smokin Willy team that made my event such a success, we are so appreciative of you guys coming in, at the last minute and saving our wedding.

Fan freakin tastic

AMAZING, INCREDIBLE, FLEXIBLE BEYOND WORDS!!! My experience with Smokin Willy was fan freaking tastic in every way possible! Ashley is so detailed oriented and so, so friendly! They made everything I asked of them happen! And this was not easy stuff people let’s be clear I’m a COVID bride lol! The stuffed pork chop is my personal favorite but you can’t go wrong with any of it honestly. My friends and family could smell the deliciousness in the air as they cooked on site. The food was incredible and fresh and so warm. I can’t thank your team enough for everything you did for us!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Fantastic, Yummy, Professional

My fiance and I knew we wanted to serve BBQ at our wedding. We didn't want the typical dry chicken breast, mashed potatoes and green beans that is served so often at weddings. We wanted food that we wanted to eat and that our guests would enjoy. We quickly learned during our venue shopping that Smokin Willy was a popular choice in the Leesburg area. We actually stopped by their restaurant one afternoon after touring a venue to have lunch and to test the food out. It was delicious! We knew we wanted Smokin Willy to be our wedding caterer. We started working with Ashley on the catering team. What a joy!! She was so smart, attentive, professional, quick to respond and gave us GREAT advice. She was there with us every step of the way to help guide us through the planning process. We rented our tables, chairs and linens from the SW team. The SW team helped us navigate COVID wedding planning and worked with us when our headcount dropped from 120 to 70. Our team lead, Olivia, was such a rock star! Everything was executed flawlessly. Our guests enjoyed the food and drinks served up by the SW servers and bartenders. Our guests went back for 2nds and 3rds at the buffet!! When does that ever happen at a wedding?? We love you Smokin Willy! Thanks for making our day so special and YUMMY!

Dream team

Man oh man, do I love Smokin Willy! The food was innnncredible! We had so many guests send us messages afterwards letting us know, which really makes ya feel great! And that is just the beginning of it. Let's ignore COVID for a brief moment here - their contracts are THE BEST.. they allow you to up/down the numbers of guests sooo much more flexibly than any other company we found. The tasting was so much fun, and the people are so so nice and provide fantastic service, from helping with vision and planning, to set up, service, etc. Now, fast forward to COVID, boy am I happy we worked with the sweet people of Smokin Willy! Number one, our wedding/reception got postponed, and they were so sweet to make our second date work out, even though they already had multiple events planned that day already. We are so thankful. And, on top of that, we completely changed our plan - 110 guests down to about 70, formal seated dinner was switched to just passed aps. They were so so so kind to make such drastic changes for us. The list goes on and on of how they helped make our day perfect, but I imagine people got the picture and stopped reading about 5 sentences ago :) Thank you again Smokin Willy team, you're a dream!!

Amazing food and experience!

Smokin Willy was the best choice we could have ever made! Not only was the food fantastic, but their rentals (tent, tables, chairs, etc) were great quality! They cook food on-site so it's extremely fresh! They were extremely understanding when we decided to postpone our wedding. We cannot thank them enough for the smooth transition! Ashley was easy to work with via email and phone. The event staff were all in masks and gloves and taking extra steps to ensure social distancing. My guests are still raving about the people and the food! We ordered brisket, chicken, shrimp, mashed potatoes, mixed veggies and mac & cheese.And the members of our bridal party were super excited when a staff member walked from the tent to where we were taking pictures (quite a walk!) to deliver appetizers (crab cakes, bacon wrapped scallops and caprese skewers) during cocktail hour! We got so much food for the money! Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Buffet BBQ for the win!!

Could not recommend Smokin Willys more!! Their food is fabulous and incredibly fresh (grilled on site!), the price is right, and Ashley their event planner is just a dream. I asked at least 1 million questions, made an additional 1 million requests (including severe dietary restrictions) and was probably a complete pain the butt throughout the planning process but Ashley was always quick to respond, courteous, bouncing around ideas and just generally amazing to work with. As a fellow event industry professional, her communication was above and beyond even my incredibly high expectations. The wait staff and bartenders were wonderful day of and people raved about the food.

We also did all of our rentals through them and they were perfect for our rustic, barn wedding. Wine barrels, tables, chairs, the works! After getting quotes from a lot of rental places, they were also the least expensive. Having rentals and catering through the same company made our lives even easier.

The food and ambiance of your wedding is something that guests really notice and Smokin Willy DELIVERS in BOTH! There is a reason they have 5 stars!

The best wedding food ever!

We cannot say enough about this wonderful food! We had Smokin Willy cater our wedding for 60 guests. We were able to choose all of our selections, and they were able to accommodate for our GF guests. We live out of state, and Ashley was wonderful to work with via email. The beef brisket and BBQ were incredible, along with all of the sides! Chris and his team were a pleasure to work with, and we always felt taken care of. They even made sure we had something to eat immediately after the ceremony! Holly was even able to create a delicious GF pineapple upside down cake for our wedding cake. Our guests are still talking about this being the best wedding food they have ever had!

Smooth from Start to Finish

When we first started planning our wedding, we knew we wanted to have barbecue. Smokin’ Willy was recommended to us by our wedding venue, and it didn’t take us long to figure out why. The food is excellent (their cornbread is amazing!), the staff is so responsive and professional, and they are very reasonably priced. We worked with Ashley from beginning to end, and she could not have been more of a joy to work with. She provided advice and responded to our every question thoroughly and promptly, no matter how frequently or late we asked them (that’s for you ladies who wake up in the middle of the night worrying about wedding details). The peace of mind we got from this is absolutely invaluable. We got all of our rentals from them too, including some ADORABLE wine barrel tables that added so much character and charm to our farm wedding.

On our wedding day, they set up everything to absolute perfection, and I didn’t have to worry about a thing, because I knew we were in excellent hands. Most importantly, the food was incredible, and we were so overjoyed to see so many of our guests going back for seconds. We also requested a signature cocktail, and it came out so good that almost all of our guests were trying it, even those who would ordinarily drink something else. Throughout the cocktail hour and reception, the staff were professional and prompt in clearing away dishes and refilling drinks, and they packed away everything for us at the end of the evening.

Bottom line, we highly recommend Smokin’ Willy to any couple. We loved working with them, and if we had to do it all over again, we wouldn’t change a thing.

Amazing Experience and Service

Smokin' Willy was our choice from the beginning. They were the recommendation of our venue and I'm SO GLAD that we went with them. The food, service, etc. was OUTSTANDING. Every person we spoke to during the wedding commented on how good the food was. I honestly feel like the food the day of the event was actually better than when we went in for the tasting. Ashley was super responsive which I appreciated as I had a TON of questions leading up to the event. Chris was there for the duration of our wedding and the night ran so smooth. Everyone was telling us not to worry because something was bound to go wrong at the wedding and I have to say that wasn't the case. The wedding went off without a hitch and I attribute that mostly to the quality of service Chris and Smokin' Willy staff provided. Thank you all SO MUCH! You really made our wedding day the BEST DAY EVER!

To say we were happy with our choice to go with Smokin Willy as our wedding caterer and rental service would be an understatement. Smokin Willy was recommended to us by our wedding venue and was everything we could have asked for and more. Chris and Ashley were so easy to work with and extremely attentive. They made sure everything was taken care of and ready to go. The food was out of this world, all of our guests loved it!! We did a plated dinner and all of the staff made sure everything went smoothly and according to plan. All of the waiters and bartenders gave 110%. Smokin Willy helped make our wedding absolutely perfect, would recommend over and over!

You can't top this!

Your wedding is something your guests will remember as well as the food!! Smokin Willys was professional from beginning to end. Their food was something all of our guests are still talking about, especially the brisket. The streamline coordination was excellent and they helped package our "leftovers". Yes leftovers! They served enough food so that nothing ran out but not so much that we were eating it for a week. Chris and his team even allowed us to have a personal touch with the "hot pepper bar" and just bade the buffet beautiful.

Delicious food and great service

Smokin Willy's were amazing. Ashley was great at keeping us up to date and organized for all of our table and linen needs. Judy and the kitchen staff had the buffet line and food and drinks served so fast, not to mention how much everyone raved about the delicious food.

best caterer!

Smokin Willy exceeded our expectations! They are far more than a caterer. They help set up ceremony site, reception site, cocktail hour site, as well as cook the food on site. And speaking of the food, our guests said it was the best wedding food they've ever had! From the moment we started working with them we knew we had chosen the right caterer!

When the caterer outshines the coordinator

I can't say enough good about Smokin Willy's. Some point in the planning process I became determined to have a bbq and they delivered. The food was delicious, hands down. I had numerous guest asking me to send them brisket and green beans the next day. The portions were very generous, enough for seconds, thirds and fourths. We actually had too much food and in hindsight, I may have ordered down but it added nicely to our Sunday family brunch for out of town guests the next day. The best part of my experience was that the on-site event manager Chris, went into action when our day of coordinator was late arriving by nearly and hour. She was not present to check-in and direct any of our vendors which is such a critical part of staying on time. To say she dropped the ball is putting it mildly. Since they cook everything on-site and were responsible for setting up the dining room, this could have made the entire day disastrous. They had never worked out our venue but did not allow her failures to impact the timelines of the service they promised. They figured everything out and made sure that our guests were fed and satisfied. I truly appreciated this. Throughout the planning process, Ashley was attentive and answered the zillion questions I asked. Even when we had a slight misunderstanding because I wanted something they were not familiar with, a simple phone call got us back on track and she was happy to figure out how we could make things work. Great value, great service, and hands down a great choice. My in-laws are already talking about when we can use them again. A big thank you for helping our day not to turn into a disaster when our coordinator did not manage or connect the dots for all of our vendors on the day of.

Smokin Willy is THE company to book if you want amazing food at your wedding. I can’t tell you how many guests raved about the meals. From start to finish, Smokin’ Willy was a dream to work with. I coordinated with Ashley, who answered my 8 million questions I had throughout the process. Their prices are extremely reasonable, especially in this area. They did a fantastic job with setup and breakdown, especially when last minute I decided to have my ceremony inside the reception hall. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone who is looking for a hardworking, fair-priced, and honest company!

Amazing team

We worked with Ashley to get everything ordered and she was so easy to work with. We went back and forth several times, and she was able to answer all of my questions and responded in a timely manner. The food was excellent, and the team who worked our wedding was fantastic, friendly, and on top of everything. They helped clean up at the end of the night and were just overall fantastic to work with.

One of the best decisions we made

When we picked BBQ as our food of choice, we knew we were taking a risk on our wedding food choice. We knew that most weddings have the typical chicken, fish, or steak with some fancy sides. Sometimes it buffet or plated. However, because we had a rustic feel to our wedding and we had a pretty diverse group of guests, no better way to make people feel comfortable than good ole BBQ. And it was a hit!!!

The food was good, the brisket was to die for, and so many people loved the greens! Everyone had enough to eat and even the proclaimed vegetarians gave it up for the day. The food was that good, and no better way to get people to relax and want to have a good time than some good BBQ. They know it is not a stuffy environment and yet food that will fill you up.

We decided to do family style and that was one of the best choices we made. People didn’t have to wait for very long for their food and there was enough for 2nds and 3rds.

The staff was also so good. Chris was not a sales person. He made us feel comfortable and we knew he didn’t need our business, but if we went with him we knew he would go the extra mile for us. Ashley kept everything together and changed the menu to our exact needs.

The one thing I will say that they do better than others is that they breakdown the menu by item instead of price per head. We visited other caterers who did price per head and we felt that some of the options were a little bit of a rip off. For example, we do price per head and it didn’t matter if we did a fruit bowl or shrimp scampi as a side, it would be the same. But everyone knows shrimp will cost a lot more than a fruit bowl. Where Smokin Willy separates themselves is that you can custom the menu by item and determine how much of each item you want to make sure the budget fits for you without feeling like the caterer got away with you overpaying.

The last detail is that they cook on site. I can’t tell you how important this is, but just the aroma building during cocktail hour was enough to get everyone in a positive mood. But if they don’t cook on the site, the food will be different than what you had during your tasting. This detail, along with the staff attentiveness, and customized menu is exactly why you should go with this team.

Love BBQ? Want to eat on your wedding day? DO IT!

The entire Smokin Willy team made the planning and celebrating simple and enjoyable. All of the staff we worked with were friendly and professional throughout the process. We felt 100% confident that our guests would enjoy the BBQ served fresh off the grill on site. All of the food was outstanding, and the Smokin Willy team ensured that we would actually get to sit down and eat whatever we wanted to! These people will make sure that your guests are happy, but they will also make sure that YOU are happy and fed. :) If you have guests with particular dietary needs, Smokin Willy was extremely accommodating and helpful. Great food and great service!!

Chris at Smokin Willy is great! My dad has worked with him over the years, and recommended him to my now husband and I. We went out for a tasting where Chris sat down with us and walked us through all the food and all of the services his team provides. We went with them because the food was tasty and we were so confident he would deliver a great experience!

All of the food is cooked on site, so it's super fresh and delicious!

The wait staff was great as well - they were both our bartenders and waiters and were absolutely wonderful!

At our venue, we were able to bring in our own alcohol, and the Smokin Willy team helped us get our quantities right for both alcohol and mixers!

They even packed up our leftovers at the end of the night in a cooler which made for a great snack after the after party! :)

Chris and his team helped every step of the way and truly helped deliver a great night! They were always willing to help too - even if wasn't in their lane - they are just so committed to making sure you have a great day that they go above and beyond - it was a great experience!

So many compliments at our wedding

If you want really high quality food, consider Smokin Willy. They make the best BBQ and so much more. The food was complimented over and over by the guests. They can do family style service, buffet or plated. And for cocktail hour, they did passed appetizers that were awesome. We had so many choices from their catering menu too. Finally, their organization and catering management was amazing. They had excellent service, set up and cleanup. Super professional. And while BBQ seems a casual choice for a wedding, Smokin Willy made all the food elevated, and with beautiful linens, table settings, wonderful bar service, it felt like it was something more from a fine restaurant.

You have to book them!!!!

You are crazy if you don't book Smokin Willy! Their food is sooooo good and yet they provide so much more than that. Ashley worked with me for months leading up the wedding, answering all my questions and a million emails. I honestly felt like we were long time friends after the whole thing! Chris and the team spent several hours with me walking through every detail at the venue beforehand and were amazing when we had to scratch our entire plan literally hours before the ceremony. I would book them a million times over.

Great BBQ and great service!

We had a great experience using Smokin' Willy for our rehearsal dinner. We got TONS of compliments on the taste of the BBQ and sides, the staff members were courteous and attentive, and they helped to make the event a lot of fun. The event planning was easy and the team were responsive. We would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for BBQ for their RD or reception (and look forward to going back to their restaurant ourselves as well!)

We used Smokin Willy for the catering at our recent wedding at The Barns at Hamilton Station. First and foremost, their food is amazing! Everything we had (and everything we sampled prior to deciding) was amazing! They were highly recommended by our venue and we were able to meet them and sample their food at a wedding expo shortly after getting engaged. We knew immediately that we wanted to work with them. From the very beginning, they were professional and highly responsive to any and all questions we had! When we met with their staff during the tasting, they were friendly, professional, and completely flexible with what we wanted to create. You can not go wrong if you choose to work with them!!! Everyone raved about their food and I would choose them all over again if I could!

From Chris the owner all the way through the organization we found everyone to be polite, responsive and very professional. It also didn’t hurt that the food was superb. Communication with Ashley was quick and concise. When the big day arrived the crew onsite was extremely helpful and friendly to everyone. Judy was able to adjust the tent by taking down the sides we had requested because we thought it was going to be a rainy day. Judy was flexible and so very accommodating that although it was a stressful day since I was hosting a party of over 200 people, I never worried about food, drink or clean up. They were a joy to work with from beginning to end . Thank you for making my daughter’s special day even better!

I cannot recommend Smoking Willy's catering highly enough. Cris and his team were AMAZING from start to finish. On our wedding day, it poured rain all afternoon, and our tented reception area turned into a MUDPIT. Despite the terrible weather and inches of mud and rain, Smoking Willy's arrived on time (when many other vendors did not) and with a great attitude. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was even better. The guests are still raving about how wonderful everything was and what a great job they did. Cris and his crew stayed at our house until 2:30 in the morning making sure everything was cleaned up and hauled away correctly. Don't hesitate, book Cris and Smoking Willy's for your event today!

The team at Smokin Willy was absolutely wonderful to work with! They were responsive, answered a thousand questions beforehand, and reasonably priced for amazing food! Booking Smokin Willy was one of the best decisions I made during my wedding planning process. Chris was a joy to work with. My wedding reception was at a barn with two giant chandeliers, so I wanted the food to match that sense of casual elegance. We opted for BBQ (casual) and the quality of the food really elevated the meal to an elegant upscale dinner. We went with the grilled mesquite chicken, grilled ribeye steak, grilled mahi mahi, veggies, mashed potatoes, and mac and cheese. We also had a plated salads and passed appetizers during the cocktail hour. We are big foodies (both me and my husband come from huge Italian families) and ALL of my guests RAVED about our food - especially the mac and cheese. We served our dinner family style, and Chris managed bring everything out nice and hot and in a quick and timely manner. Everything was cooked to perfection and I have zero complaints. My sister even asked them to box up some steak and mac and cheese for my husband and I to eat that night because we liked it that much! Haha!

Not only was Chris amazing about food - he also helped us out with a ton of other things. We got most all of our rentals through him. He has some beautiful farm tables, as well as some big wine barrel cocktail tables that we used outside. We also rented a few bars to bring into the venue which were very cool. All plates, linens, glassware, and silverware were also secured through him so he really is a one stop shop - score!

As if great food and great rentals weren't enough, Chris and his team also provided amazing service. They set up all the tables and place settings for the event, manned the bar, served 27 tables family style, passed appetizers during cocktail hours, and smiled the whole time. I really felt like the whole team were more guests at my wedding because there were all so nice and pleasant.

It's clear that the folks at Smokin Willy know their way around a grill AND a wedding. 10/10 would recommend.

We had Smokin Willy cater for our rustic October wedding and they were absolutely perfect! Our tasting went really well and the staff was able to recommend great choices for us. We were assigned an event manager(Cris V.) who was so responsive, answered all of our questions, and was calm and flexible throughout the entire process. On our wedding day, the staff managed everything with ease, and the food was outstanding! We still get compliments from guests on how much they loved it! I cannot say enough good things about Cris and the whole Smokin Willy team. From our tasting with them we knew Smokin Willy was the right vendor for us--the food was simple, good, and an incredible value. They catered both our rehearsal dinner and reception, and both went off without a hitch, despite the fact that rain meant some last minute changes to the set up of our cocktail hour. Cris was incredibly responsive, answering my (many!) emails and (lots and lots) of questions, and the entire staff was friendly, cheerful, attentive and courteous to our guests. He worked with us to create a menu that accommodated our many vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free guests (including letting us bring our own veggie burgers to put on the grill for vegetarian bridesmaids!) and the food at the reception was even better than it was at the tasting. I would recommend Smokin Willy to anyone looking for excellent service and delicious food.

It was a pleasure working with Cris and team for our 11/04/2017 wedding. Cris was very accommodating of various menu and rental changes, and even made a special meal for kids. Cris and his staff were extremely professional and took care of everything we requested. We wanted to have a family-style meal to go with our barn wedding, and everything worked out great. What can I say about Smokin Willy that no one else has said that has had the same unbelievable experience that we did at our wedding. We choose Smokin Willy because we knew the food was good but hiring them to cater our wedding was top notch the best thing we could have ever done. From start to finish, their hospitality, knowledge, experience, and exceptional timely service made our family, friends and guests future customers of their facility. People could not stop talking about how good the food was and the fall off the bone ribs were out of this world! Chris and his team really went above and beyond to make everyone happy. We used Smokin Willy for our barn wedding. Chris was our lead and he was fantastic. First off let me say they came highly recommend by a few venues we went to go visit. Our first tasting was with Smokin Willy and our decision was super easy. We actually canceled the rest of our tastings after we left this one. The benefit is that the cook onsite!! Guess what that means....your food doesn’t get cold. Seriously, the food was amazing and everyone at our wedding couldn’t stop talking about how good it was! I highly recommend Smokin Willy for your wedding!!!

I used Smokin Willy for our October 21, 2017 wedding. Smokin Willy was recommended to us by our venue Briar Patch Bed & Breakfast Inn in Middleburg, VA. It was the only caterer we considered (seriously we did not interview any others or do any other tastings). We love BBQ and after reading reviews online, we knew we had found the right place. The staff at Smokin Willy is very friendly and professional. They answered our emails very promptly and were very accommodating to our requests to take things on and off our catering list throughout the year. If you worry about not having enough food for your wedding, you most certainly WILL NOT have that worry with Smokin Willy. With our 120 guests, we were able to feed them and stuff them silly with all the meats and sides we had. Our guests were raving about the food, some even saying they’d drive the 4 hours from Virginia Beach, VA just to eat at their location in Purcellville, VA. The top guest favorite meat was their pulled-pork and the top side was their mac & cheese (with their cornbread coming in a close second)! While I don’t mind plated dinners, I find them boring with their predictable beef, chicken, or fish options. Smokin Willy’s is a great alternative that offers freshly cooked food onsite, while still being chic enough for a wedding presentation. Our lovely on-site lead Cheryl was very efficient and attentive to the guests and our needs. They worked really well with our venue to pull off one heck of a reception! I cannot begin to say how wonderful they are and that any bride should seriously consider this amazing caterer for their future nuptials!!!

Our wedding was theme was rustic elegance and we both nice BBQ and had heard great things about Smokin’ Willy and they lived up to those reviews. From the moment we sat down with Chris at the tasting through picking up our extra alcohol, Chris and his crew were amazing! Smokin' Willy catered our wedding and we cannot stop raving about how awesome they were! The food was fantastic, the servers were friendly and professional. Smokin Willy does not only provide delicious food, but they provide an experience! Chris and his team brought their grill and grilled with food (smoked pork and carne asada) right there on site! The smell was mouth-watering, and food was freshly cooked. The cornbread, green beans, and garlic mashed potatoes were the perfect sides. The cornbread literally melted in your mouth. We had so many compliments on the food!! The servers were kind and worked diligently. Prior to the wedding day, we could drop off everything days in advance (such as beer and liquor), which was so nice to get that out of the way! They mixed our signature drinks for us, and provided all dispensers. We are so glad we decided on Smokin Willy for our wedding!

Working with Smokin Willy for my wedding caterer was by far the best decision I made in planning. I used them for almost everything - tent, rentals, catering - and they went beyond for each and every aspect. We worked with Smokin’ Willy for our rehearsal dinner (May 2017), and they were awesome! They were incredibly friendly, responded quickly to emails with all the information we needed, and the food was delicious. The BBQ trio (burgers, chicken, and hot dogs) and sides (mac & cheese, grilled vegetables, and corn bread) they served for the rehearsal dinner received rave reviews from all of our guests! I am SO thankful that we chose Smokin Willy. Chris and his team are THE ABSOLUTE BEST. They go above and beyond! You expect a caterer to provide great food and reliable services, sure, but do you also expect them to volunteer to decorate your tables, move flower arrangements from your ceremony to your reception, or use a leaf blower to dry a lawn because it rained just prior to your cocktail hour?! I certainly didn't but Smokin Willy had no limits when it came to serving us. They wanted to help in any and every way possible and they gave me the greatest gift of all... peace of mind on my wedding day! I felt like I could trust them from the start 100% and I was right! Not only were they doing amazing things behind the scenes but my guests all raved about our food so they truly covered all the bases (even the ones you might not think of). I cannot thank Chris (the owner) and his team at Smokin Willy enough and I can guarantee you will feel the exact same way if you make the very wise decision to work with them too.

From the first contact several months ago and all the way through our event Chris and Ashley were fantastic. We knew we wanted a bbq type wedding and we checked out several BBQ caterers in the VA/DC area and decided on Smokin Willys because their bbq was great. Little did we know that the whole experience would be even better. Chris immediately put us at ease throughout the planning and through many of the decisions that go into set up, rentals, tables settings, etc. Chris's staff was awesome and the bartenders were super fun. The food was crazy good from the pork and brisket to to the mac and cheese, grilled vegetables, and salads. We are still hearing from our guests about how amazing the food and service was. They made our special day unforgettable and we would recommend Smokin Willys to anyone who wants great food and service and a fun wedding.

My husband and I wanted a casual feel to our wedding, so the food had to be just right. Our wedding required a cater that could be super family-friendly with over 20 kids in attendance – 5 of whom were under 2 years old – and a boatload of vegetarians. Smokin Willys stepped up to the plate with fantastic food, excellent customer service and attention to detail before, during and after our wedding. Our sales contact and event manager was Chris who led an attentive team that grilled up a wonderful meal for all ages. With varied pallets and a bunch of BBQ foodies in attendance, we opted for the mixed grille with petite fillet, mesquite chicken and kielbasa. For the kids, we had a mashed potato and mac-n-cheese bar. And the vegetarians we appeased with grilled portabella mushrooms. Numerous family members and friends have commented on the great food and the attentive catering staff. I’ve honestly never held an event where I’ve not worried about the food, the kid-friendly seating or the event as a whole, especially with a bunch of kiddos – and I got that peace of mind with the cracker jack team at Smokin Willys. And a hearty meal people talk about to boot!

We used Smokin Willy for my daughter’s reception on Nov 12, 2016 and I can only rave about them!! Cris and his team were amazing to work with and put our minds at ease from the very beginning. They knew exactly what we did and didn’t need. Cris was very responsive to all our emails and was prepared at our walk-through with any questions that needed to be addressed. We made several changes along the way and Cris was on top of it all. Our guests are still raving about the food, not your traditional wedding dinner. We went with the barbequed chicken, salmon and carne asada. We also had passed hors d’oeuvres for the cocktail hour and the bacon wrapped scallops were to die for! They cooked onsite, which just added to the anticipation with all the amazing smells! The weather was cold, but all the meals were served piping hot! Amazing!! Aside from the delicious food, the catering team went above and beyond to help with all the decorating and set up. Everything was just as my daughter had envisioned it to be. We could not have made a better choice by having Smokin Willy caterer the wedding. I highly recommend them!!

My husband and I got married October 30th and we had Smokin Willy do our catering. Since the wedding, the number one thing people have said to us (besides congrats) is that we had the best food they have ever had at a wedding. We stuck with bbq type foods and even managed to get away with doing ribs since they literally fall off the bone, so it was definitely comfort food for everyone. Ontop of that, Chris was our event lead and he was really responsive/experienced with our venue so it made the planning process as smooth as it could be. Price wise, everything was very reasonable and we were able to add or remove things based on how planning was going and logistics of the event. I definitely recommend them!

A month after my wedding, guests are still raving about the food provided by Smokin Willy at my reception. Several people expressed that it was the best BBQ they have ever had! Throughout the whole year of planning my wedding, the event planning staff was wonderful to work with and helped to answer any questions I had. About a month before our wedding we changed our reception location to be inside, rather than outside, and Chris and Jan were great about switching everything up and working with us to make the space exactly what we wanted. They were so helpful and professional and I am so glad that we went with Smokin Willy as our caterer.

We worked with Cris at Smokin Willy, and he was the best. We weren't thrilled with their normal vegetarian option, so he volunteered to make us a vegetarian chili instead. He didn't try to upsell us; he was honest with us about what we needed and what wasn't necessary. We wanted to have a couple of extras (tea and lemonade at the ceremony and a hot chocolate/cider bar at the reception), and Cris accommodated those things so easily it was like he had done it a hundred times. We dropped off all our alcohol to him ahead of time, and he picked up our desserts for us the morning of the wedding. He would have taken our center pieces and favors and put those out for us too, if we had wanted him too. In short, Cris and his team were probably what we worried about the least leading up to our wedding. They were so professional and really put us at ease.

As for the wedding day itself, they showed up early to get things ready to go. The food was delicious and warm. They were ready for toasts, cake cutting, etc. even before we realized it was time for them. We couldn't have asked for a smoother day with them.

I don't think we can recommend Smokin Willy more. We have tried to think of a negative to make this appear more balanced, and honestly can't come up with one. They were perfect.

It is so easy to find all they offer on their website! Everyone I worked with was very attentive and helpful along the process! They do a great job making your vision come true and if they don't have something that you want, they will work with you to get it! One of the best decisions we made in our wedding was hiring Smoking Willys to do our catering and rentals!! Love them!

Used them for our rehearsal dinner and reception and our expectations were exceeded in every way. Everyone we interacted with was kind, professional, accommodating and a true pleasure to work with. Food was delicious and service was top notch!
