Portola Hotel & Spa at Monterey Bay Reviews

We blocked out 20 rooms for a wedding party at The Portola Hotel & Spa, and had the best time ever. They completely exceeded our expectations in every way. From the beginning of the process to our guests arriving, the entire staff was great. Beyond the great service, the hotel is perfect in every way. It is close to all attractions in Monterey. You are directly across from the wharf. Almost all our guests had a view of the ocean. Plus the beds are extremely comfortable. We found the rooms to be spacious and quiet.

In addition, the spa is first class. We've been all over the world and can honestly say that the spa at Portola Hotel is one of the best we've experienced. We had several massages, facials, mani-pedi and all were top-notch.

We can't say enough good things about this hotel, all of our guests loved their stay and keep talking about how perfect it was. We'd highly recommend booking for a personal stay or large group - you can't go wrong! They impressed us two New Yorkers...that's saying a lot!

Monterey is my and my husbands favorite place! We have always wanted to be married there. The Portola Hotel made that happen beautifully! We go back every year to celebrate our anniversary!

We had the pleasure of working with Jennifer for hair and Makayla for hair and make-up. When the girl who was supposed to do make-up did not show up, Makayla jumped in to do make up and Jennifer added girls to her schedule for hair to help out and make sure we were all ready and looking and feeling beautiful! Jennifer was very patient and creative during the hair trial and both girls were lovely to my bridal party! They were fantastic!

I stayed at the Portola Hotel the night before and the night of my wedding. When calling to make reservations, the staff was rude and could care less that I was booking for my wedding night! When we checked in, they put us in a room farthest away from the entrance! Which was not convenient when trying to direct vendors to the room, as well as walking through the hotel in a wedding dress!!! When asking to be switched to a room with a king bed for my wedding night, we were turned down! The housekeeper told my bridesmaid that there were plenty of rooms with king beds available! But when speaking with the front desk, they denied this and were not helpful!

Unfortunately this hotel did not make us feel like special guests! When my parents checked into Hotel Abrego, they were greeted with chocolates and a bottle of wine! Very hospitable, unlike the Portola Hotel!
