Dream come true!

I’m so happy that I found Leatherwood for our wedding. It really was a dream come true! The staff and Abbie are amazing. They are just so friendly and enjoy what they do! It was such a breath of fresh air to have such amazing and genuine people working on to make sure your special day goes smoothly. The food for the rehearsal dinner and for the wedding was so yummy. We can’t wait to go back and spend a weekend there.

I had the pleasure of staying at Leatherwood last weekend for my niece’s wedding. My family and I rented the Hawks View cabin and it was wonderful. In fact, everything about Leatherwood was wonderful! My extended family raved about their cabins, the views, and the fabulously accommodating staff at Leatherwood!! I had the honor of marrying my niece last weekend and Abbie could not have been more accommodating and organized. She made my job as officiant easier. My niece told me the whole day and evening was exactly how she pictured and dreamed of for her wedding day. Thank you Leatherwood for a fabulous weekend.

Best Wedding Venue in NC

Abby and her team at Leatherwood mountains was AMAZING! After spending almost a year looking for the perfect wedding venue, we stumbled upon Leatherwood and were sooo glad we did! We chose to do a wedding weekend for 275 guests and Abby was willing to work with all of our ideas! Not only was it a large wedding, but it was over the course of 3 days, but had a 3 different main events, 7 meals, and a wide variety of other activities for our guest. Abby did an amazing job helping coordinate as we had a wedding planner quit 3 weeks before the wedding and had to hire another.

The field and arena created the perfect atmosphere and amazing photos for our wedding. The rental cabins provided a perfect and unique experience for our guests. Our guests are already talking about returning to Leatherwood for their own vacations!

Abby and all of the staff was amazing to work with. We will be forever grateful to the team for making our wedding weekend unforgettable.

Our daughter's wedding was perfect, in spite of any rain, it was such a wonderful day! Abbie did a great job coordinating the ceremony especially with the music since we were unable to rehearse with the music. Everything went smoothly and our dinner catered by Leatherwood was very good. We had many complements on the food! This is a great venue and we hope to come back and stay in the cabin we rented and enjoy those beautiful mountains!

Leatherwood is such a wonderful place to get married, the amenities are abundant and the staff is amazing. Abbie is an incredible coordinator. She is so helpful, caring, funny, and guys….she really knows her stuff! My mother and I would not have been able to pull this wedding off without her. Trevor’s food is so delicious, guests from our wedding are still raving about him/food. Abbie was very accommodating and patient. She has great suggestions and ideas if you’re feeling stuck when it comes to the decision-making process. Leatherwood made everything so easy and enjoyable that if we had to do this all over again (thank God we don’t) we would not hesitate to go straight to the wonderful people at Leatherwood Mountain Resort, they're AMAZING!

I got married in April 2017 and doing it at Leatherwood was an amazing decision. I practically fell in love with Abbie and she was half my sanity on my wedding day. I knew she had all of the details of my wedding well organized and was taking care of everything. Meeting with her was like meeting one of my best friends for coffee. To give you a bit more details...

1. We initially chose Leatherwood because of how affordable it was to have family and friends stay in cabins for a vacation-like experience, given they would be traveling a great distance to our home state. They all absolutely loved it and it provided a way for family that doesn't get to see each other often to spend time together, even though we couldn't be everywhere at once. There were so many cabins to choose from and they loved them. We even got a discount on the venue for renting so many cabins!

2. The employees are SO kind. It was Southern hospitality and care all around.

3. We had the rehearsal dinner there on Friday and Leatherwood catered that meal as well as our wedding meal. Their food was so good and unbelievably affordable.

4. Our pictures are to die for. There are mountains and streams in so many of our pictures and video and they turned out so beautiful.

5. Did I mention Abbie? I paid for the coordinating package that she offers (super affordable and HIGHLY recommend) and it was like having a right hand lady. She does this all the time, so she was very well organized and knew ahead of time the questions to ask. She was always there when I needed her and always responded to my emails so quickly. We truly have gained a friend.

6. We had a 4 month engagement and booked Leatherwood 3 and a half months before we got married - for a highly desired venue, that was super quick!

We love Leatherwood and hope that you will too!

Abbie Hanchey, Trevor and the Leatherwood Mountains team made our daughter and her new husband's wedding weekend amazing! Our group rented 17 cabins and a campsite for the weekend which made it feel like one huge family. The guests enjoyed everything Leatherwood has to offer - hiking, camping, horseback riding, beautiful cabins and gorgeous scenery. As our wedding planner Abbie kept us organized and calm. She had great suggestions for ceremony, cocktails and reception. The rehearsal and rehearsal dinner catered by Leatherwood , followed by campfire and s'mores, were so fun and the food was delicious. Wedding day dawned sunny and perfect. After days of rain Abbie had ordered sun for the big day. Our ceremony site by the Hendrix cabin was beautiful. Cocktail hour on the cabin porch was relaxed and fun. Many compliments were received on the yummy cocktails. The reception in the pavilion was so gorgeous. As the bride and groom departed under a canopy of sparklers, the perfect day came to a close. Many, many guests told us it was the most beautiful and fun wedding they had ever attended. Thank you Abbie and Leatherwood. You have become family to us.

If you're not sure about booking Leatherwood as your wedding venue, take an afternoon to meet with Abbie, grab some dinner, and listen to music with your fiancé. You'll fall in love with the stunning scenery, amazing staff, and live entertainment. It was the first place my husband and I visited and nothing could compare.

I also have to say Abbie was an absolute pleasure to work with. She's incredibly knowledgeable and the definition of 'a Jack of all trades.' She was always quick to respond to my annoying questions and truly made the whole weekend go off without a hitch (oh yes, the entire guest list stayed on the mountain for the weekend). Any bride would be lucky to have her coordinate their special day.

Abbie is the coordinator for leatherwood and she is amazing to work with. She made every detail of our special day exactly how we envisioned it! This venue everything is a'la'cart which has it upsides and downsides. So for a 'do it yourself' bride this is a great venue because you have complete control of creating every little detail you want. The downfall is can become a little expensive when you add a lot of extras other than the basics into your day. Although if you keep it simple this venue can be very affordable as well.

My wife and I just had our wedding here and everything from beginning to end was perfect. Abbie was our coordinator and her involvement from the initial planning stages to the day of the wedding itself was indispensable. My wife began planning months in advance and once we chose Leatherwood Abbie helped every step of the way. She made herself available at all times no matter what day of the week or time, she helped pick out vendors and coordinated schedules with them. You could tell she was passionate about our personal event and on the day of the wedding she and her staff shone. Every little thing was handled flawlessly and we could not have been happier.
As for the cabins, they were also fantastic. They were clean when we checked in and the views were phenomenal. Each cabin has privacy and quiet. We utilized 7 cabins for the bridal party, and family members and each one was excellent. There were no complaints from anyone over the entire weekend. I would say that one needs to come prepared. Bring food, and any odds and ends you might not think you need. The cabins will have most amenities, and anything they don't have the front office at the bottom of the mountain will be more than happy to provide, but it's a bit of a drive (around 10 minutes depending on your cabin) and coming prepared can save you a bit of time.
The horseback riding is gorgeous and Hugh clearly knows his stuff when it comes to horses. He looks very comfortable in the saddle and will make sure that you are as well. He takes time to match you with a horse whose temperament matches your own.
Overall at the end of the weekend we did not want to leave, and we will be returning, probably annually to celebrate anniversaries and take in the gorgeous views again.

We are so pleased to have stumbled across a beautiful venue for our ceremony and reception. Curtis and I visited multiple sites that we had researched via the internet and weddingwire apps and Leatherwood Mountains is the ONLY one that BY FAR exceeded our expectations in person. Most other venues post the best of the best photos online and fall short in person. It is the opposite at Leatherwood. Pictures just cannot do the ceremony and reception sites justice, much less the gorgeous details and handcrafted expertise that lies in each of the homes available for rent as well. The icing on the cake was when we experienced the most incredible views from the porches of every home we toured that we have ever seen. This was THE PLACE we had to have our epic wedding weekend!

Abbie Hanchey, the event and marketing director, has absolutely been the glue that has held us together. Not only is she knowledgeable, creative, flexible and intuitive to your needs, she is also calm, reassuring and the perfect antidote to the frazzled moments you sometimes have as a bride to be (even if you ASSURE yourself that would NEVER happen to you....it might....). ;)

If you are looking for a mountain venue for your wedding you NEED to see Leatherwood in person. You will have a zen moment, everything will click into place, trust me.

Abbie did an absolutely amazing job getting everything organized the day of our wedding. Not only did she suggest great vendors for us to decide between, she took the extra time to help us come up with some ideas and just personalize everything. Leatherwood is a hidden treasure. My family and I vacationed there when I was young and to come back to get away and get married was just perfect. Thank you all so much for making our day amazing and unforgettable!

Leatherwood is a great venue with a reliable and friendly staff. Perfect vistas and a quintessential mountain surrounding mark this property. Peaceful, but never to far from anything you might need. Loved getting married here and look forward to visiting again…and again.

Abbie was incredible to work with and helped us to pull together a beautiful and memorable wedding we will treasure forever. She was instrumental in connecting us with the caterer, minister and horse carriage service. We could not have had such a special day without all of her help!

Abby and the staff at Leatherwood was awesome! They really helped me pull off my dream wedding! It was a gorgeous venue and everything was flawless! Abbie and her staff were the absolute best! They worked with my vision to the very last detail. Leatherwood made our dream wedding come true. They were so professional and helpful through the entire planning process. Abbie and her husband Trevor coordinated our vendors, ceremony, rehearsal dinner food, reception drinks, decoration set-up, the list goes on. A breathtaking venue nestled on a horse farm in the Smokey Mountains, our autumn wedding was magical. Would do it all over again.

I had the most perfect wedding weekend at Leatherwood Mountains. Abbie, the event coordinator at Leatherwood, was amazing to work with. My wedding day would not have gone so flawlessly without her expertise and opinions. I really enjoyed working with a coordinator from the actual venue. She has seen so many different weddings that she knew what worked the best in each area. Our guests loved that they were able to make a mini vacation out of our wedding weekend by staying at the vacation cabins at Leatherwood. The cabins were absolutely gorgeous, and enabled us to continue the party with our family and friends even after the wedding reception was over. It was perfect, and I cannot thank the Leatherwood crew enough for all of their help.

Leatherwood was an absolutely beautiful place to get married. The entire staff was amazing. Abbie Hanchey was incredible. She was our wedding coordinator for the Friday and Saturday for our wedding weekend and she went above and beyond to make our day truly special. Abbie and the Leatherwood staff were so helpful throughout out our entire wedding planning process. They are extremely easy to work with and very flexible. Andy and I had the perfect wedding at Leatherwood Mountains this April. I could not recommend Abbie (the event coordinator) more highly. Abbie understood exactly what we wanted, she was creative, resourceful, and handled all of the small details within our budget. The venue is simply beautiful, and the cabins are perfect for a romantic and relaxing honeymoon. We could not have been happier, and we are so pleased that we shared the day with our family and friends at Leatherwood Mountains.

Abbie made our wedding rehearsal and stay at Leatherwood an exciting and most memorable event.. She was totally selfless in the performance of her duties to make us feel at home.. She was always a "Yes we can do that" or "We can make that happen"! She reacted quickly and with great care to see that our moments we enjoyable even with the ever changing weather conditions.. I will and have recommended to others to visit Leatherwood and have some if the same happy experiences we did.. We look forward to returning to Leatherwood and enjoy more time to see the other things that time would not allow for this past trip. Absolutely perfect!! I can't say enough about how important and amazing it was for us to have our wedding at Leatherwood Mountains. Besides the obvious naturally gorgeous scenery, every other detail from start to finish was perfect. We planned our wedding in 3 months (whew!) which wasn't even hard because of Abbie. Most of the vendors we used were recommended by her, which saved so much time and headache, and they all worked out wonderfully. She was so helpful and supportive throughout the process, even with us being 6 hours away! She helped orchestrate our rehearsal dinner, ceremony and reception on site that was in every way what we wanted- beautiful, personal, intimate, fun and relaxing. Almost all of our guests stayed in cabins at the resort and couldn't say enough about how nice the cabins were, and loved spending time there the whole weekend. The entire staff at Leatherwood is lovely. One minute (literally) before our ceremony started, we realized our marriage license was in our cabin, at least a 5 minute drive from the ceremony site. Abbie remained so calm and had another staff member go and get it for us and it was there in time when we needed it at the end. We didn't have to worry about a thing the whole weekend! If you are lucky enough to score an open weekend here, jump on it- you will be so grateful for the quality, service, reasonable pricing and overall incredible experience you will have!

Leatherwood was a BEAUTIFUL place to hold a wedding. Abbie was friendly and easy to work with from the beginning. The setting is relaxed with breathtaking views. All of our guests stayed on site in cabins and it added to the intimate feel of the weekend. The Hendrix Cabin/field was lovely and the perfect setting for our rustic wedding.

Abbie and the staff made us feel so welcome at Leatherwood. I've been there a few times but for my family and friends, it was their first. They can't wait to come back. The bar staff was so helpful, they even opened up early for the groomsman to drink the day of the wedding. We met Phil Rash who is one of the owners at the bar and him and his wife were so welcoming. We ran into them a few more times during the week and they always made sure everything was going ok. Our band was from the area. They're called the Ramblim Gypsies. Chad Triplett is one of the singers and our point of contact with them. He was always giving me updates with what was going on. The hard thing with a wedding and your band or DJ is feeling connected like they know you but with the Ramblin Gypsies we felt like we've known them for years. They played a little bit of everything and improvised great. I can't speak highly enough about them. Thanks guys! They even turned some people from Minnesota into country fans! The venue was amazing. Everyone who assisted us at Leatherwood was very helpful and professional. The vendors recommended were also great. Abbie was very detail oriented and helped make sure the vision of the wedding came to life. The rehearsal dinner, wedding, and reception were truly special and I would highly recommend Leatherwood to anyone considering a wedding venue. We also heard wonderful comments from guests attending who raved about the venue and all the extra "touches" that made the day so special. The wedding day could not have been more special or more perfect. We are grateful to Abbie and all the staff at Leatherwood for making us feel so welcome and being so great to work with. Great job!!

From the moment we arrived at Leatherwood Mountains we knew this beautiful place was where we would be married. You are surrounded by gorgeous views from all angles. The view from the cabin we chose, Hidden Falls, for our ceremony was like nothing we had ever seen in our lives! During the actual ceremony at the stage, there was not a dry eye as our guests gazed toward the mountains in the distance as the bridal party made their way across the field. Pictures do not even bring justice to the beauty of these views. What a location! Meeeting with Abbie officially sealed the deal. She is very professional and has this sweet and genuine personality. You can tell that she truly wants your day to be as picture perfect as you dream. In less than 6 months, Abbie planned our day. It was such a relief to not have any stresses from the planning. I thought every bride was supposed to be stressed planning their wedding. Not the case when working with Abbie. She knew exactly what she was doing, every detail was perfectly planned. The day of the wedding, Abbie was everywhere, fixing things that did not go as planned, improvising when necessary, and making sure that our guests were comfortable. I can not thank Abbie enough for running around for us like she did. She allowed us to relax and enjoy our day and not stress over a thing. All of our friends and family had only sweet things to say about Abbie and the Leatherwood team. Anthony and I would like to thank Abbie and everyone at Leatherwood for making our day absolutely perfect!! It is day a we will cherish forever. Thank you.

Leatherwood was the most perfect place to have our wedding. Abby and the whole Leatherwood team are so friendly and very flexible with helping us to create the perfect vision that I had for my wedding day. The setting could not have been more perfect and everyone who came to the wedding and stayed at Leatherwood were so impressed, with several of our family and friends saying they couldn't wait to schedule another visit. My mother described it as a "fairy tale" wedding, and I couldn't agree more.

Leatherwood was an exceptional place for my wedding venue. The staff was extremely helpful, and were quick to meet my needs to make my day run flawlessly. Abbie, the wedding coordinator/event planner is so wonderful to work with. She is kind and patient, and truly works to make your wedding the wedding of your dreams. Leatherwood is such a beautiful place to get married. Our wedding day turned out to be overcast, cold, and rainy; but that didn't stop our day from being perfect. The florist Abbie used did an incredible job. The arbor and my bouquet were breathtaking! We rented the Saddlebrook Restaurant for our reception, and Abbie did a wonderful job setting up the room. It was very classy and elegant, yet still simple and pretty. P.S. The pulled pork with the Off the Hook sauce is most tasty thing I have ever eaten! I would recommend Abbie and all of the staff at Leatherwood to anyone looking to have a wedding, honeymoon, or vacation! It is truly a beautiful place and it is ran by truly wonderful people.

I had a wonderful experience working with Leatherwood. Abbie is the event coordinator there, and I could not say enough good things about her! She was quick to respond and very helpful with my millions of questions! All of the staff are very professional and were willing to help with whatever we needed. Their grounds are beautiful and well kept. One of our favorite things about Leatherwood were the cabins you could rent out! We rented over 5 cabins and all of our family and bridesmaids/groomsmen all stayed up there for a few days before & after! If you are looking for a great priced, beautiful venue, then call Leatherwood!

From the moment we found Leatherwood Mountains on the internet until the day we drove away at the conclusion of the Wedding, perfection prevailed. Abbie was a joy to work with. She has an “anything you need, we can do it” attitude and she means it. I was making most plans from Arizona and Abbie quickly provided me with any information I needed. I am a bit of a perfectionist and have trouble delegating responsibilities. This proved to be an issue when we were just a mere few hours until ceremony time and my husband and I were still setting up the reception area and had not even begun to get ourselves ready. Abbie, walked in to check on how things were going. Without even a second thought, she jumped in and set up all the tables for us. She told us she would have been happy to help much sooner had she known. This I am sure of. The entire staff at Leatherwood continuously asked if we needed anything and anything we asked was immediately met with assistance. This was just about the nicest group of people I have ever had the pleasure to work with for any event. My daughter’s wedding ceremony and reception were just perfect. I highly, and I mean highly recommend Leatherwood Mountains and Abbie to anyone looking for a venue that requires a pristine, rustic mountain environment

What a Beautiful place to get married at. Leatherwood was just the perfect place for me and my husband to have our wedding. The people were great to work with. I couldn't have asked for everything to go more smoothly. Everyone at Leatherwood was absolutely wonderful. They made sure we had the wedding we wanted that was still within our budget. Since we were from out of town, they took care of arranging a local minister/photographer/bakery/caterer. We were able to make appointments and see everyone on the same day, and were extremely happy with the vendors Leatherwood recommended. I still can't believe how stress free they made planning our wedding!!

Every girl dreams of how she wants her wedding to be . . . Leatherwood Mountains made my fairy tale wedding become more than just a vision in my mind. I got married on November 11, 2011 at Leatherwood Mountains. I am from Concord, North Carolina so I depended heavily on the event coordinator's experience with various vendors in the area. On the day of my wedding you would have thought I had planned this wedding for over a year, but in all actuality it came together in three months thanks to the wonderful staff at Leatherwood. My ceremony, reception and honeymoon were all held at Leatherwood Mountains. The event coordinator was very personable, knowledgeable, and eager to take on as much responsibility in the planning as I needed her to. She understood what I wanted and executed the delivery above and beyond my wildest dreams. Leatherwood Mountains is not just where I got married, it will be where my husband and I celebrate special occasions in the years to come.

My daughter wanted an outdoor wedding in the mountains in Oct. and Leatherwood Mountains was the perfect place. From the time we booked in January until the wedding date, the staff (especially Abbie) was there to guide and help us all the way. My family stayed in one the cabins they have available to rent and it was so nice and the mountain views were gorgeous. I would recommend Leatherwood Mountain Resort to anyone who loves the mountains and wants an outdoor wedding in such beautiful and natural surroundings.

I had my wedding at Leatherwood Mountains Resort on September 1st, and it couldn't have been more perfect! I wanted an elegant mountain wedding, and this beautiful location, along with amazing vendors and Abbie as a coordinator made for the wedding of my dreams. The scenic mountain views here are truly breathtaking. And I was able to relax and have the BEST weekend with all my friends and family since I knew Abbie had everything under control. I couldn't recommend Leatherwood enough for either a wedding or just a vacation!

by choice, the "wedding family" did much of the work ourselves. the bride and groom could not have been more pleased with the setting/event. Leatherwood catered the rehearsal dinner and did a great job....even accommodating special diet needs. we have no complaints---in today's world, that alone says it all!!!

My husband and I knew we would get married at Leatherwood well before we were engaged. We had vacationed there at least 5 or 6 times before the wedding, including getting engaged! Abbie made the whole process very easy and was very accommodating with our wishes. It's the most beautiful place in the world!! We loved our "mountain getaway" wedding & reception at Leatherwood Mountains. Our whole party and several more guests all rented cabins on the property (the whole reason we booked Leatherwood!) for the whole weekend and we had a blast. The venue coordinator was fantastic to work with and when plans had to change the day before the wedding, she was super helpful in making sure we had everything we needed!

Our only complaint was that despite reading all our contracts, etc, we didn't understand that service & gratuity would be added onto our bill for the bar/alcohol (we had thought we were responsible for that separately), which made our bill quite a bit higher than we had anticipated; plus since we didn't know about it, we paid cash tips and ended up paying double gratuity for the bar. So just be aware of how it works for getting alcohol there (which you are required to do if setting up a bar).

I had my dream wedding at Leatherwood Mountains! Abbie is wonderful to work with, and everyone there is very accommodating. The valley was perfect for the festivities, and our guests had plenty of places to stay in the beautiful cabins on site. Abbie provided us with a list of vendors for all the essentials including local catering, photography, rentals, hair stylists, etc, which was very helpful in planning. Leatherwood was also by far the best priced venue for what we wanted. Thank you for a fabulous and memorable experience! We'll be back!

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the event and my stay. The Leadership staff were extremely engaging and flexible and was able to assist and meet any of my needs. There were a few administrative bumps that could have been handled differently however I was impressed by the corrective action that was taken and the willingness to go the extra mile to see that our experience was maximized.
