The Venue its self is too beautiful for words and my wedding was amazing with NO help from Hotel Baker. The only good from them was the bartender who was amazing, friendly and fun and the food. Other than that the Hotel is a nightmare, thank god I had great people surrounding me to keep me head from going to explode from them...1st off the catering manager is AWFUL everytime you try and contact her she is out of the office or on vacation, she would never give a call back or respond to an email unless I called several times. She never updated my contact info so was sending things to the wrong email so I missed the only food tasting they offered with the food selections, She lied to my mother and when my mom confronted her about it, was the last time she spoke to my mom, she would not even say hi to her at rehersal and kept walking away from her. When we were all checking out the morning after of course the front desk had issues with that too, in walks the catering manager, gave me an evil eye, didnt say hi or ask how the wedding was NOTHING and walking into the back. How is that for customer service. I had heard bad things about this place before but never thought it would happen to me, I guess I was wrong. From day one with these people it was terrible. The people at the front desk were awful, my mother in law didnt have a room even though i booked it 6 months in advance and then confirmed it 2 nights before the wedding.. 2 of my guest also didnt have rooms when they had confirmation numbers!! 3 members of my bridal party didnt get their rooms until 6 pm after the wedding started, I was supposed to have the penthouse ready for me to get ready in at 1pm it was not ready until almost 3pm and so i wasted an hour of my photographers time because no one was ready. the chair cover company came to pick up the linens and Hotel Baker gave them to someone else and could not track them down and as my mother was picking up left over stuff from the reception the manager of the hotel told the linen company that the mother of the bride had the linens last and must have done something with them. My mother over heard that and started arguing with them, she never had them it was an excuse to cover their butts. Once they have your money they don't have a care about your wedding it was blatantly obvious. When asking to speak to the hotel manager about all the issues they mysteriously were not there even though we had seen them minutes before behind the front desk, we were told they would call us back but im sure not, in my 2 years of planning received a call back 4 times. The front desk was very rude to my guests that were upset when they were told they didnt have rooms and the hotel was booked even though they had confirmation numbers for their reservation. They talked us into HAVING to pay 400$ for a valet service that wouldn't even pick up the guest in front of the hotel so they didn't know where to go for valet so NO ONE used it, even though they said there would be signs directing people. I was fuming with the whole situation. The hotel itself cost us over $23,000 and the service was AWFUL all around the board. The venue is beautiful, the bartender and waitstaff was great and very accommodating, the food wonderful the the poor service disgusted me for how much money people spend there and they would not resolve anything...don't let the beautiful place fool you, once they have your money they dont care how they treat you...

The hotel is as beautiful as everyone says. I have no complaint about that. Our ceremony was on the waterfront patio and reception in the waterfront room. Our main complaint is how late the dinner ran, 10:00 p.m., which left us very little time for dancing, etc. afterward. There were long delays between each course. Also the bar was not re-opened until an hour after it was scheduled to be and we as the bride and groom had to get up and ask for it to be re-opened when our guests were asking US how they could get a drink. We paid for 4 hours of open bar and only got 3 hours. When we asked the management for a refund, we were told it was our fault for delaying dinner because one of us had left our seat. We were very excited about having our wedding at Hotel Baker, but it left us with a bad feeling because they would not offer us any apology or refund for their errors.

Our ceremony and wedding was at the Waterfront Patio/Room. Hotel Baker was easy to pick because of the gorgeous setting and reasonable price for a quality wedding package. I did have some nervousness up front after reading bad reviews from past years and some initial difficulty in communication with Liz. However, as we actually got close to the event, Liz was great--answering all my questions and accommodating some last minute changes. The setup and service were great--and so many compliments on the food! We had a beautiful wedding that didn't break the bank and the Hotel Baker and their team played a huge part in making that happen. If I could say one thing, I only wish we could have more rooms in a block and that the rate was lower in order to accommodate more of our guests.

Hotel Baker was spectacular! The venue is gorgeous and full of character. We had our ceremony on the boathouse along the river, our cocktail reception in the rose garden, and the dinner reception in the rainbow room. Our guests were raving about the food and the beauty of the hotel. I had a dozen people tell me afterwards that our wedding was the best one they had ever been to. We couldn't have had a better time ourselves. We already have plans to go back and spend a weekend there for our 1 year anniversary.

The day of the wedding Hotel Baker was incredibly attentive. Our reception was beautiful and the food was great. The only negatives were that prior to one month before our wedding they would never get back to us about questions. I would e-mail them multiple times only to receive an answer to a question that I didn't ask. Furthermore, we seem to be missing some gifts from guests. Hotel Baker states they do not have any of them but we are going to have to ask our guests if they wrote checks and have them cancelled. More than not ok.

Hotel Baker was the perfect venue. The staff was beyond wonderful. Service was great and the food was amazing. I highly recommend this spot for any special event.

The Hotel Baker did a beautiful job with my wedding ceremony and my reception! They also held my wedding shower which was also gorgeous! They food was amazing, everyone complimented it. The old world charm, plus things like the light up dance floor making this venue hard to beat! When you add in an amazing wedding planner with the hotel she makes it even better! Their wedding planner helped me with every little detail taking so much stress off my shoulders and even did little things on her own home time for me! If I had to do my wedding again I would do it at the Baker Hotel no questions asked!

I selected the Baker because it is unmatched when it comes to the beautiful interior and patio on the river. It was very expensive, probably one of the most expensive places I looked, but the venue itself was awesome. We got so many compliments on the food! The tasting before the wedding is also nice and we wouldn't not have change anything about the day, but we did feel like we were nickeled and dimed to death on some things...

Such a beautiful setting for the most romantic day of your life. The Historic Hotel Baker truly cared about our evening being perfect! My husband and I missed dessert because we were thanking all the guests for coming, and after a long night of celebrating we headed back to the master suit where fresh desserts were waiting for us to enjoy! Such a lovely surprise :)

We have been told by sooo many people that our wedding was the most elegant wedding they had ever been too. Hotel Baker is a historical hotel in downtown St. Charles, IL. It's right on the Fox River. They have a wonderful rose garden and "boat house" where we got married outside and had the coctail hour outside. Margaret was a dream to work with. Anything I asked for she provided. There were so many extra things she did, like beautifully setting up the placecard table with the vases and dishes I provided full of candy, and handing out "kiddie bags" to all the 10 and under kids at my wedding. The food was excellent. The service was impeccable and all with smiles. I would tell anyone looking to get married in an intimate, beautiful, "non-banquety" type of place to call Margaret. If the date you want isn't available, I'd change the date!!!
