She really is the Bride Whisperer

Immediately upon entering A Formal Occasion, we were greeted with a bubbly and energetic Lucinda! Everything she did from that first moment was completely personalized and thoughtful. My name even appeared on signs to dedicate my bridal space! She sat me down to interview me about what I was looking for and then led me around to pick out dresses. She made a very overwhelming task seem manageable.
Lucinda stayed with us for a full 2 hours until I found the dress of my dreams (which happened to be the first one I tried on). She coached me and supported me through every dress. She also made suggestions about adding details and alterations that completely transformed an otherwise simple dress. I was made to feel confident and excited by the end of my appointment, which was not what I was expecting earlier in the day.
THANK YOU for allowing me to find my perfect dress at your boutique. I wouldn’t change one thing about my experience.

Fantastic Experience!

Purchased my wedding dress today and LOVED my experience! Katie was so patient and listened to what I liked and didn’t like about different dresses and made great suggestions and gave advice on things to be cognizant of when trying them on. They had a wonderful selection at different price points and made the whole experience so enjoyable. I would absolutely recommend A Formal Occasion to any bride looking for the perfect dress!

A Dream Come True

I cannot say enough good things about A Formal Occasion! Lucinda and Pat are the absolute best at what they do! This was our 3rd Bridal Shop of the day and they blew us away with their hospitality, attention to detail, and charm. They made us feel welcome from the second we booked the appointment. The shop offers a mom and pop feel with the selection of a high-end boutique! All of the little touches that this place offers really go a long way. We were made to feel comfortable, at ease, and like part of the family throughout the whole process. I wasn't planning on buying a dress today, but Lucinda found me my dream dress and I could not be happier! If you're debating visiting A Formal Occasion, please add it to your list as it is worth it! Additionally, being a plus sized woman, I was thrilled with the selection of in stock plus size options and cannot recommend it enough! Thank you Lucinda and Pat!

Wonderful Personalized Experience

I was nervous going to try on wedding gowns and worried that nothing would look good on me at 48 and plus sized. Lucinda and Pat were so welcoming, including the personalized welcome sign at the entrance. Lucinda wanted to know about my vision and feel for the wedding and what sort of style I was thinking of. She pulled some dresses I pointed to and some of her recommendations. She showed how an off the shoulder sleeve could be added to a strapless gown to make it fit my requests. All of them fit well and helped us to narrow in on what we liked and what we wanted to adjust. The last dress was the winner and immediately brought me to tears. Pat even brought over a tuxedo that complimented my dress to show how it could look. I was able to get a beautiful Maggie Sottero gown in the perfect fit and style complete with a matching gown in one day! You will not be able to find this sort of in-stock selection and personalized service anywhere.

First stop!

Went dress shopping today (No, the dress in the photo is not the dress! It's a surprise!) and said YES to my dress at A Formal Occasion in Kennesaw. It was the first place I tried on dresses and it was an amazing experience from the moment I made an inquiry on the website about an appointment! I was so happy not to have to go to a bunch of different places. Lucinda was amazing! Everything was personalized and well-organized. We felt so welcomed! Best part - reasonably priced AND they carry dresses in all sizes ... so I was able to leave with my dress and my tiara! They even took these beautiful photos for us. #aformaloccasionbride

Five Stars

Lucinda was wonderful and so thoughtful throughout the whole process! I felt like she really listened to what I had in mind, and gave me an individualized experience. I’m super indecisive and critical of myself but she was so patient as I went back & forth on a few! (lol) This appointment was the second place I visited and needless to say, the last! I love that you walk out with the dress, too. I procrastinated a lot of things for my wedding so this was helpful. Go see them!!

I felt like I got the royal treatment!

Ms. Lucinda was a dream to work with! From start to finish they gave us the royal treatment here and I was able to find my dream dress within my budget! HIGHLY recommend coming here! At first I didn't think I'd find my dress here -- the dresses she showed me initially were not sparking anything for me, but as I tried them on and expressed what I liked/didn't like about each one, she brought out dresses I hadn't seen that looked closer and closer to what I wanted. She really LISTENED to me! The last dress she brought out was exactly the kind of dress I wanted! Truly she is a master of her craft, and she made it SO FUN!

Lucinda is Amazing!

I recently visited A Formal Occasion in the hopes of finding my dream wedding dress, and I couldn't be happier with my experience. I even told myself that morning that I wouldn’t “say yes”, especially since it was my first day looking. When walking into the shop, I already knew it was going to be special because there was such a cute personalized chalkboard with my name on before we even walked in the door! Lucinda is the most incredible woman, especially when it comes to transforming what could be a daunting, overwhelming experience into something magical. I am definitely not the bride who is going to be overly emotional about dress shopping, but working with Lucinda helped me understand how significant this process can be; when she started talking about how it’s not what the dress looks like but how it makes you feel and tearing up because she cares so much, I joined her in shedding a few tears! Pat was also a lovely addition to the team; he makes you feel right at home and even offered to clean my ring while we waited for the first round of dresses to be selected. The quality of the dresses was outstanding, and the prices were very reasonable considering the high level of service and quality of the products. Overall, I would highly recommend A Formal Occasion to anyone looking for not just another wedding dress shop. Lucinda and Pat have truly hit the mark and understand exactly how to make this the most unforgettable experience anyone could hope for!

Amazing Experience!!

This was the best experience I've ever had! So warm and welcoming!! We sat down with the husband wife duo. Lucinda was beyond attentive and was able to ask all the right questions. She was able to help me know when to say no and when to decide it was a beautiful dress just not the right fit for my wedding. I'm terrible with decisions and terrible with being able to say no. She helped me find ways to decide which dress fit my wedding style. This experience was once again the best experience I could've asked for. Thank you again for helping me find my dream dress and taking the stress of dress shopping away.

Lucinda The Fairy Dress Mother

A Formal Occasion is absolutely PHENOMENAL!! I can’t say enough about this bridal boutique. While it may be small in size the magical moments created here while finding your dream dress is nothing short of amazing. Lucinda and her husband Pat are a great team. From my first call with Lucinda she was a joy. I love that she listens to her brides and really understand your vision for your big day. Both her and Pat’s communication throughout the entire process has been top notch. I can’t say enough about this place. I can rave on and on about A Formal Occasion so I will say this to sum it up: if your looking for bridal shop that provides you personalized experience, where they take the time to catch your vision for your big day, with great prices inclusive of fantastic customer service…then this is the place for you. Finding my perfect dress was FUN. My bridal party and I laughed the entire time. Lucinda knows her stuff. I ‘m looking forward to our upcoming wedding and sooooo glad I came across this gem!! A Wonderful Experience

Upon my arrival I was greeted by Katie who was so amazing to work with. Despite being late to my appointment I was able to get in, try on , and find the one!! Katie is knowledgeable and dedicated to making the bride to be feel comfortable looking for perfect dress. She asks questions and listens to every detail. Overall this was a wonderful experience. The entire staff were great. I would highly recommend any bride who is in the area to definitely check them out. It’s definitely worth the drive.

Perfect experience!

If I could give Mrs. Lucinda and her husband more than 5 stars I would, they are so deserving of it. I am a plus size bride and I was very worried/nervous about finding THE dress for me without feeling self conscious in my skin. Mrs. Lucinda took the time with me and my group to ask exactly what I was looking for, details of my wedding, who I was marrying, the back ground of how we met, and she was just so personable with me and my group. Mrs Lucinda has a big selection of plus size dresses and she will do every she can to help you find THE one!! Truly delightful

After trying on dresses at two other shops before this one, I can tell you that A Formal Occassion is genuine, different, and personable. The owners made sure to make me feel beautiful, recognized, and heard. Walking into A Formal Occassion, I instantly felt that southern hospitality with that quality charm I’ve always envisioned for my wedding day. Lucinda listened to my wishes and pulled dresses nothing short of amazing! All of their dresses are one of a kind and breathtaking. Lucinda takes pride in the fact that all of her dresses are unique with a wide variety of a selection all hand picked with her brides personalities in mind. There is no other place you could receive the assistance, companionship, or generosity while finding your dream wedding dress. A Formal Occassion is the place to go that will provide you with that perfect experience and complete all your wedding visions. They take care of everything! Book your appointment. Come here last, you won't leave without a dress!!

Imagine being able to walk into a cozy shop that makes you feel instantly a home, greeted by excited and welcoming owners who sit down with you and truly get to know you, your wedding vision, and your preferences, not just the wedding date, while getting a complimentary ring cleaning and a precious gift. Being escorted to rooms filled with dresses from size 0-26, each in every style! It is not hard to see that their goal is to find the RIGHT dress for you, not just a gorgeous one. One that takes your breath away, brings tears to your eyes, and embodies you. Now imagine all of that at an affordable price! Sounds too good to be true, right? A fair warning to you though; if you want the full experience of browsing several stores and trying on lots of dresses, come here last because you will not walk out of this store without a dress in tow. And once you do, you celebrate! You get to sign the wall, have your picture taken with a rose (that you get to keep!) and a sign stating "I said yes to the dress!" If you want an impersonal, in and out type of experience, this is not the store for you. But I HIGHLY recommend this store to any bride looking for a truly personal, authentic, comfortable, fun, and joyous time while feeling glamorous in gorgeous wedding gowns!

An amazing experience!!

My whole experience with this place was amazing! I cannot say enough good things about the staff. This was my first time dress shopping so I was a little stressed. Before my appointment they really got to know me and asked all the right questions. Upon arrival my party and I were welcomed with great attitudes. I was given a little gift, so sweet! They asked about me and my fiancé, what I was looking for in a dress, and how I wanted my dress to make me feel. I felt super comfortable. They really cared about my feelings through the whole process, not just the feelings of my party. We dressed me up like it was my wedding day to get the right feeling I wanted to feel. Once I said yes to the dress, everyone celebrated and was so happy for me. Tears were flowing. They took pictures of us, gave me another gift and let me sign the canvas with my future last name on it. The process of ordering my dress was so simple and easy. After, I received multiple texts of gratitude and encouraging words. They are so sweet. I love this place and highly recommend them!!

I said yes to the Dress!!!

I looked everywhere for a dress and could not find the one. I came across A Formal Occasion when driving home from work and decided to call to make an appointment. They got me in the very next day and I forbid my dress!
Lucinda is wonderful! We knew so much about styles and designers and just knew what would look good on me. She even sent me a happy birthday text and a text after my wedding day. This Place is Amazing

I can not rave enough about how wonderful of an experience I had yesterday. I felt welcomed, listened to, and never pressured. I was able to try on a variety of styles. I didn't feel rushed. Special Personalized Experience

I visited multiple bridal shops to find my gown and A Formal Occasion gave me such a special experience and really made me feel comfortable and prioritized. The staff so so friend and are genuinely excited for you to find your dress and have a great experience. I had the whole place to myself and they listened to my requests and were not pushy at all. My top two dresses were dresses I would t have picked for myself but after hear what I was looking for a went ahead and tried them on and I k re immediately when I found THE ONE. They really go out of their way to celebrate you and make you feel special.

Personalized, highly recommended

I went into A Formal Occasion a bit timid not sure what I was looking for. I was met with Lucinda waiting on me with signs all over her boutique with my name personally welcoming me. From the moment I stepped out of my car I felt like all the attention was on me. I was the only appointment booked for my two hour time slot. Lucinda made a point of making sure she really listened to what I was looking for in a dress. By the end of my visit I left with my dream gown and could not have been happier with my experience. The morning of my wedding I woke up and received a sweet text from Lucinda telling me happy wedding day. Personalized service I would not have received from a chain store had I bought my gown anywhere else. As a side note while there we discovered my sister had gotten her dress from there 27 years prior and my girlfriend had also gotten hers from there 17 years prior!!

Wonderful!

I went to A Formal Occasion on a whim after reading multiple reviews that sounded just like what I was looking for - reasonable price, attention to detail, unique finds, and quick turnaround. They did not disappoint! I went alone and last minute, but they made a point of getting to know me and what I was looking for. I found two off- the- rack options (despite not being a “standard” size - I’m on the low end of plus) that I loved more than any I’d tried at 5 other stores. They were unique and in-budget. I wasn’t sure the impact of alterations costs (had been surprised at how much at other stores), so Katie snapped a pic to get a quick ballpark figure from their seamstress...which was much less than other quotes I’d received. They made a point of celebrating with me, and had a number of special extras to make the experience memorable. I bought one dress via phone that night but kept thinking about the other one. They kindly let me re-try on both when I went to pick up my dress. This gave me the reassurance and confidence that I’d bought the right one. All around an exceptional experience!
COVID note - I was the only one wearing a mask, but there were never more than 6 people in the house at once, and there’s two fitting areas completely separate from each other, so I felt safe throughout the (wonderful) experience. Just an FYI depending on your COVID comfort level :)
All around, the experience was exceptional- so glad I went!

The best around!

The staff was incredible. They welcomed all the brides with a sign at the front door. They made the shopping experience warm, fun, and pulled dresses for exactly how I wanted to feel on my wedding day. I could not have asked for more!

Fantastic Experience

I had a great experience at A Formal Occasion. Lucinda was a joy to work with and you can really tell she is extremely passionate at what she does. The dress options are beautiful and unique. The dress I said yes to I was able to bring home that day. I am 6'3'' so I was concerned about having a dress with enough length. They said all of their designers can special order extra length but my dress didnt need it. I would 10/10 recommend coming to this boutique.

Go here first! It will be the experience you dreamed of!

On my daughter’s day off we planned to hit a few wedding gown stores on the main road in Kennesaw. We didn’t realize, however, that everything was appointment only- even to browse. About the time we were ready to call it quits, we called A Formal Occasion and Lucinda immediately answered. They were super friendly and made us feel super comfortable. They helped my daughter find the perfect gown, just for her. We mentioned needing a few modifications for modesty purposes, and we were shown beautiful ways that their recommended seamstress could accommodate that, without losing the elegance of the dress. I am so glad we found our dress there! A day I remembered being stressful 24 years ago as a future bride, was the most enjoyable experience at A Formal Occasion. No photograph signs are posted, but they take some for you and email as momentos. We were able to enjoy the experience, live in the moment, and their photographs will always be a reminder of this special day.

An unexpected experience!

I didn't expect to love this shop as much as I did. I went here with my Maid of Honor on a whim, and ended up walking out with my perfect wedding dress! They were so friendly and kind, and even sent me a congratulatory text on my wedding day. Not only did I get my dream dress from them, but they added so many small, thoughtful touches that made me appreciate them even more.

Brides to be -- Wonderful Experience!

Lucinda was amazing! She listened to every aspect of how I wanted to look on my wedding day and pulled the dresses that best fit my expectations. She even pulled a dress I wasn't crazy about, but as soon as I put it on, I knew it was the one.
We didn't feel rushed and had her attention through the appointment the entire time. I even took the dress home with me THAT DAY!

Friendly, personal service; beautiful selection

They have a wonderful wedding dress selection here for brides of all sizes (bridesmaids dresses are a little more typical "sample size" range). The shopping experience is relaxed and personal, the dresses are beautiful and in such a variety of styles! Don't be put off by the fact that it's in a small former house-- there are a TON of dresses inside. Both my best friend and I got our wedding dresses here-- separated by about 5 years, so their quality is consistent.

I found my dream dress at A Formal Occasion. I had been to at least four other stores trying on dresses and nothing really caught my eye. I thought I had fallen in love with one, but I realized it wasn't for me. When I came to A Formal Occasion everyone was so friendly and welcoming. My consultant was Katie and she was amazing! She sat down with me and asked me all about my venue and my visions for my venue, wedding day and wedding dress. She also asked to see pictures of my venue. Katie found five gowns for me to try on, and within minutes I found the dress that was meant for me. I would never have picked it for myself, but Katie knew it would look great on me. I will say that I am a plus size bride and all the gowns I tried on fit me fairly well. Some may have been a bit too big, but none were too small that I can remember. So they truly do have a variety of sizes to be tried on. I also found my veil and earrings while there. Their prices are very reasonable to me because their gowns are more exclusive and not the same gowns you see at all the bridal chain stores. I love that I got a dress that is unique to me without being custom made. I will highly recommend A Formal Occasion to anyone looking for a wedding dress or anything wedding related. I will also be returning in a few years for a vow renewal dress and I already can't wait!

I had gone to 2 shops before I went to A Formal Occasion so I already had a fairly good idea of what I wanted. Upon entering the shop you are greeted with warmth and a special gift. The appointment is one-on-one and tailored to fit your needs. My stylist truly wanted to help me find my dream dress, and she did! I wanted something lightweight and comfortable for my beach wedding and found just that. The dresses they sell are more unique than the options at David's Bridal or any other mainstream shop. After choosing my dress, veil, and sash, I received a rose and got to sign the wall with my name and wedding date. The week of my wedding, I even received well wishes from A Formal Occasion. Thoroughly pleased with my experience from beginning to end and I'd definitely recommend them to any bride looking for her dream dress.

Absolutely IN LOVE with this shop! There’s a reason they have been in business for so long, they know how to make magic happen. After falling “ in love “ with the window display I just had to call and make an appointment to try it on. I was able to make an appointment for the very next morning. Normally you’d think an appointment would mean you get one person to help you pick and try on dresses, not here. Not only were we THE ONLY people in the shop ( because that’s how they do things here) I was helped by Katie and the owner Lucinda. I basically gave them my Pinterest board ideas , told them my vision, and they picked out a handful of dresses that matched both. After only 5-6 dresses I tried on a dress I normally would not of chosen for myself and there it was MAGIC! I found my dress! On my first appointment at my first shop! These ladies know how to treat you and make you feel like you are the most important bride in the world and they truly care about making your dress shopping experience stress free, relaxing, and fun. I would highly recommended you make this your first stop, but don’t be sad when you find your dress on the first visit and realize your search is over. You still have your vail and accessories to get, and yes they can help you there too!!

This place is the BEST! Katie did an amazing job in listening to my desires and critiques. She ended up pulling a dress that I had not even chosen off the rack based on my opinions. My experience at A Formal Occasion was nothing less than exceptional!! Their hospitality set them apart immediately and extended all the way to the outside of the store; they had a sign welcoming their brides by name! From the moment I walked into the store, I felt right at home and was assured that I would find my dream dress here. The staff was incredibly friendly and warm. They joyfully greeted myself, my mother, my maid of honor and my grandmother that had come from out of town. Katie, the consultant that I had the privilege to work with, asked all of the right questions and took a genuine interest in my wedding and my vision. She truly cared about how I felt, what I was looking for and even took time to ask about our proposal story, and how we met. She pulled all of the dresses out with me in mind; I was only responsible for trying on the dresses and knowing how I felt in them. My group and I were treated like royalty from beginning to end. Katie worked diligently to make not only me but my entourage comfortable. Katie ensured that my experience was not only productive and informative but relaxing and enjoyable as well. Self-consciousness went out the window, and I felt as though I had known her my entire life; it was like working with a friend. Her radiant personality and contagious smile added to the experience! After several dresses, I found what I had been dreaming of. From head to toe, Katie made the ensemble come to life and made me feel like a beautiful bride. She captured my taste and skillfully combined every aspect of who I am. She created a look that was simply, uniquely, wonderfully me. I went in stressed out and worried about finding "the dress" and came out excited to walk down the aisle in the dress of my dreams to the man of my dreams. It couldn't have been anymore perfect. Loved my experience here. I was the only bride in the shop and the stylist was incredibly helpful. She got to know what I was looking for and pulled the perfect dress! The price was right in my budget and the veil was well below what I expected to pay. Not only was trying on dresses fun, but, when I did say yes on my second time at the shop, they made a huge to-do about me finding my dress. They got pictures of my group and me, let me sign the bridal wall, and even presented me with a rose. It was a fairy tale dream come true. Definitely go and see them!

Lucinda was the absolute best!! My wedding dress shopping appointment was the day after the snow fall in January and I was terrified it was going to be canceled! With three months to prepare for a wedding, most bridal shops confined me to their sample rack of goofy dresses. I walked into A Formal Occasion and Lucinda knocked my socks off with the intimate, personalized showing of a HUGE variety of quality of dresses! They were so beautiful!! I'm a slow thinker when it comes to big decisions, and she was SO gracious and SO helpful. Her advice was precious, as she encouraged me to consider an array of factors I'd never thought of in order to find the perfect dress for me. Pushing a sale was NOT her agenda, as she truly wanted to help me and give me peace of mind whether I found a dress or not. I've never seen so much care in a business. Again, I am astounded by A Formal Occasion. I have lived in the area my whole life and I never knew this place was such a treasure!

I know of A Formal Occasion from Lucinda's daughter so I wanted to start there with my dress shopping. That was the best decision possible! Lucinda greeted me as I walked in, catered to me, helped me figure out what I want in a dress, the practicality of each dress for the wedding, was very patient as we found the dress, contacted the distributor immediately to see if the back could be made differently, and we got it ordered that day.
A Formal Occasion is much nicer than the chain stores and it was well worth the drive from North Carolina to get a dress there.
Every dress has a built in bra so you don't awkwardly have to wear a strapless bra all day.

My sister in law recommended A Formal Occasion when we first started looking at wedding dresses. We went there first and I found the perfect dress but wasn't sure it was "the one" since I hadn't tried on dresses anywhere else. We spend the rest of the day looking at larger, chain stores but in the end returned to A Formal Occasion. They provide great customer service and really take the time to make sure you find your perfect dress, unlike those chain stores where we were rushed and crowded. At A Formal Occasion we had the wedding dress area to ourselves. I was also lucky enough to find out that they had my size in stock, so I didn't have to order it. So as a young bride finishing her last year in college, I was not looking forward to the stress of wedding dress shopping. However, A Formal Occasion was recommended by a friend so I decided to give it a try. BEST DECISION EVER! Although it is a small shop, they have a wide selection of the most beautiful gowns in every single style. They were accommodating to my schedule. Even when I had to reschedule several times. I am extremely picky and detail oriented but my consultant was understanding and knowledgeable. This was my first stop and I found my dress in less than an hour! I didn't buy the same day and they didn't pressure me. When I brought my large family back to look at the dress with me they were professional and understanding. They were knowledgeable and respected my budget. I ordered my dress and it came early! To all the brides in the Metro Atlanta area, this will be your first and last stop. So stress free! Finding my gown was so much fun and I got so many compliments. I loved my Maggie Sottero!

Upon entering this shop I was a little skeptical. It was so small compared to some of the other places I'd been to. I had an idea in mind of what I wanted and I explained this to the shop owner who also provided me with her input. Initially I was taken a back by her input and thoughts because I figured I knew what I wanted and what would look good on me, but I must admit, she knows her stuff. She urged me to try on a dress that I didn't think I'd like and when I did, I was astounded by how beautiful it was on. Everything about it was perfect, the style, the fit, the simplicity, the wow factor...EVERYTHING. It was a Sottero and Midgely gown, and I received so many compliments. I would definitely recommend A Formal Occasion to any bride and I would also go back to purchase an evening gown for any formal event. They have totally earned a lifetime customer.

I spent one weekend in Atlanta looking around several different bridal boutiques to find a dress for my wedding. There were a few dresses that would have been nice but I was not completely sold on any of them. I found A Formal Occasion on Bells Ferry Road in Kennesaw and decided to give them a shot. Monday morning I called and they told me to come on in to try on dresses. Upon arrival, I was greeting by the owner of the store who was the most lovely, kind, helpful, and unpretentious woman I had met over the past couple of days. She spent the next three hours helping me to narrow down my choices of dresses until we finally tried on "the one." She pulled it out of a different area of the store and surprised me with it as it was not something I had been imagining that I would want. However, immediately upon putting it on I was struck with how perfect it was and I ended up buying it from her right then. She was skilled at her job to watch me carefully as I tried on other dresses and get a glimpse of dresses that I might like even before I knew I would like them. She was not pushy at all to sell any of her products, which I very much appreciate.

Due to the fact that I purchased my dress "off the rack," I cannot evaluate the promptness of the arrival of my wedding dress from her store, though I am assured she would have done a great job with that as well.

She also has a variety of earrings, head pieces, veils etc from which you can choose. I found very nice earrings and a bracelet to match my dress there. Most of her dresses ran less than $3000 if I remember correctly. She has a great selection for that price point in my opinion.

A Formal Occasion will also steam your dress the a day or two before your wedding to ensure it is looking it's best on your big day!

Additionally, she has a seamstress who works in the store below her who is reasonable priced and did a great job with my dress!

I bought my wedding dress from A Formal Occasion and am so happy I found them! I actually found the dress I wanted in a boutique in Buckhead, but they didn't have my size. I called around and found that A Formal Occasion actually had the dress I wanted in my size! I bought the dress off the rack! (And it was cheaper than the boutique!) A Formal Occassion is a gem of a bridal store! It's located in Kennesaw and definitely worth the drive! (It's not that far). The selections of bridal gowns are beautiful and affordable! The layout of the store is great too - it's intimate and feels like a boutique!

A Formal Ocassion did an awesome job with our tux rentals. They were very patient with me trying many different styles, patterns, and colors. They have very good prices and high quality tuxes. We were very happy with everything through them. They also worked well with all our groomsmen being from out of town. I have also gotten formal dresses from the store and they have a wide range in formal dresses and also wedding dresses. I would definitely recommend A Formal Occasion.

I had a wonderful experience here. Lucinda was extremely helpful in helping me find exactly what I wanted. I went on a weekday afternoon so I was the only customer in the store, and the service was excellent. I ended up buying the sample, and they cleaned and pressed it for me. They do not do alterations, but they recommended a seamstress (who operates out of the basement of their store) who did a wonderful job. My dress was strapless and beaded, and it fit like a glove despite being so heavy. I would highly recommend A Formal Occasion!

They were great! I loved shopping here and all the options. I even found a dress off the rack and got it 1/2 price. The store was not crowded and you felt like everyone wanted to help. Make an appointment and try not to go on Saturday!

This was the best dress shopping experience EVER! The place looks like a hole in the wall, but when you walk in you will be overwhelmed with the amount of beautiful dresses. The staff is AMAZING! I would recommend A Formal Occasion to anyone!

If you want an excellent experience when you shop for wedding dresses--you need to see Lucinda at A Formal Occasion. As soon as you walk in, you feel welcomed and feel like a bride. I had shopped at a place prior to going to A Formal Occasion and felt like I was in a bridal dress factory--the sales person just kept bringing me dresses without really hitting anywhere near what I wanted in a wedding dress. But as soon as I started trying on dresses at A Formal Occasion I felt like a bride and found my dress after trying on 3. I had tried on at least 10-12 at the previous store. I had an amazing experience and felt welcomed and like family at A Formal Occasion. They are always kind and welcoming and you are sure to find a dress that is "the one".

I walked into A Formal Occasion already frustrated that I was unable to find the dress I wanted. My first words were, "If it's white, I'm not interested." Lucinda understood my frustration as well as my desire for a unique and perfect wedding gown, and was quick to pull everything she thought I would like based on ideas and descriptions I had given her. She listened to everything I said I wanted and didn't want, and stuck close to my ideas while searching for dresses for me to try. The very first dress I tried on was "the one", and I was instantly in love with it. Lucinda was happy to work with me, offering to hold the gown until I could set up an alterations appointment, and giving me numbers for seamstresses, and even calling the designer and ordering extra trim lace so that I could have a custom matching veil made. Her selection is HUGE, and her staff seems to have a "one person at a time" policy, focusing entirely on me until I was satisfied. I'm so glad I stopped at her boutique, and so grateful that she helped me to find my dream dress. A++++

A Formal Occasion was the last bridal boutique I visited, and was by far the best. It's a tiny little shop with more and better selection than any other place I visited. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and they really want to help you find the perfect dress. My dress was actually in stock in my size (not a common size either), and I was very happy to be able to go home with The Dress, without the 4-6 month wait most shops have. And on top of all that, the dress was actually in my budget! I highly recommended A Formal Occasion, they were great!

This lovely little boutique is the perfect place to shop for your dream wedding gown. The owner is very helpful and very knowledgeable and will make you feel comfortable right away. So many beautiful gowns! And they also carry a large selection of veils and tiaras as well, so that your look is perfectly beautiful in every way.

The previous gown shops I had visited, the people were very rude and snobby.As soon as I walked into this store, the people were extremely nice, patient, and helpful. I had gone just for bridesmaids dresses, but spotted a few wedding gowns I liked. Without an appointment, they let me try them on. Good thing because I found the perfect one! The shop is very small and personal, and has so many beautiful gowns!

I walked in randomly on a Tuesday morning and Lucinda made me feel like I had an appointment just for me. She was receptive to my likes and understood my budget. I was given undivided attention, and found my perfect dress. Every time I went in after, even on a whim, she made sure I was looked after and got the attention I needed.

This shop greeted me with warmth and professionalism from the first point of contact. They definitely offer a very personalized service and my stylist really had a good understanding of what style of dress I was after. Every dress she picked out I loved and I ended up finding my ideal wedding dress at this store. It definitely was love at first sight with this dress.
The owners and staff are absolutely lovely and they try go out of their way to give you find what you're looking for. If you don't feel like a bride a yet or haven't enjoyed the experience of wedding planning, you definitely will once you go to this store.

I posted this same review on facebook, but i still mean every word so I am pasting here: After being treated like cattle at one of those big chain bridal stores...(you know the one...where they help 3 brides at once, have random vendors approach you about table runners while you are trying to have a special moment etc...) I was feeling depressed about the whole wedding gown ordeal. I am so glad we checked the reviews for A Formal Occasion and decided to come in! You made me feel like the only bride in the world, and I was treated like I was spending 10x what I did. The dress is perfect. I am one of those brides that does everything with their significant other, so there was no question who would have a say in the dress, a lot of places had a real problem with that, but you made him and my 4 yr old son feel welcome too. I really appreciate the later hours on certain days, and the alterations person you recommended was fabulous.

The dress really was perfect for my day! It looked more expensive than it was, looks amazing in photos, and was just what i was picturing without having any idea what i was picturing. Thank you for all your help!

They were WONDERFUL! I first visited the typical wedding store (DB), and then even a more high end, though large, bridal salon on Roswell Road (BB) - where the service was atrocious.

So, it was such a pleasant surprise to work with the staff at A Formal Occasion. Don't be fooled by the small size of the shop -- I found more dresses that I liked there than at the other, larger shops. They have a good eye when it comes to ordering dresses!

I went on a week night, and was the only customer there. I was running late and called to let them know and they were so accommodating! They even kept the shop open later than business hours just so I could make my decision between two gorgeous dresses! They weren't trying to make a hard sale, either and didn't encourage me to get the higher priced gown. They truly wanted to make me happy and to have me be happy with my decision.

I will definitely recommend them to any friends looking for a bridal salon! Check them out!

My quest for a wedding dress ended here. I had been to a larger Buckhead retailer and found some styles I liked. My plan was to view maybe a few more when my mother surprised me with a beautiful white satin sheath dress. However, when I showed my mother my vision board she knew her choice wasn't what I dreamed of and commenced to calling around until she found a retailer who carried the line of the designer on my board. She came across A Formal Occasion and off we drove to Kennesaw the next weekend.
Once I was at the store I began trying dresses that were similar in style to my vision board dress. The associate actually picked a dress and said "just try it on. You never know." I tried it on and althogh it was pretty, it wasn't until she put on the birdcage veil that I knew this is how I would look on my wedding day. They didn't alter the dress at the shop, they were able to recommend a wonderful seamstress and I looked stunning on my wedding day! This is a wonderful place to find a wedding dress beyond compare. Oh, the price was pretty good too.

Amazing Experience & Selection

What an incredible experience. We had purchased almost all the homecoming and prom dresses years ago from this shop. So when it was time to start shopping for a wedding dress my favorite formal dress shop was my first stop and my last. The owner spent so much time with me and stayed beyond closing time to ensure I was happy. I found my dream dress and was so over joyed. Now 8 months later had a beautiful wedding in my spectacular dress. Thank you for a wonderful experience!!

A formal Occasion is a small bridal shop in Kennesaw. Do not let the size of the store fool you. They have the most beautiful gowns I have ever seen. When i went searching for my wedding dress I went into many large wedding gown store including Davids bridal. None of these places can compare to the gowns at A Formal Occasion. It is definitely worth checking them out. Trust Me!

Awesome experience. After spending two hours at David's Bridal with a consultant that wouldn't listen to me, a formal occasion was a fresh breath of air. I walked in, told them exactly what I wanted and my price point and was in my dream dress within 5 minuets. Best vendor I worked with.

I had an overall good experience buying my gown here. I recieved a small discount after asking. I needed the same size as the sample, as the sample was bought between visits. The staff measured me to be sure the size would be correct. When I received the dress months later it did not fit. It fit as though the bust area was a size larger and the waist was a whole size smaller than I ordered. They promised me it could be altered to fit perfectly.

This shop does not have seamstresses on payroll so they only can give you recommendations. Because my dress had a low dipping back the seamstress I used could only take it in so much before the edging would have been significantly changed. The dress ended up beautiful but not without some stressful days of hoping it would zip up.

After you buy your dress here just be aware when it comes in, it's yours and you are on your own for any alterations.
