I found my beautiful wedding dress here! Ana was such a tremendous help in finding my dress and communicating any changes I wanted. Their seamstress also did a great job. If you are on the hunt for the perfect dress, I highly recommend Ferndales. -

I personally was not looking forward to the whole dress shopping experience but Ferndales really made the experience great! I had 8 guests with me and we were able to have a whole section of the store to ourselves. I tried on probably 8-10 dresses and found THE dress right away! I liked that they were open on Sundays, did not have a guest count limit and carried all the designers I liked. My dress fit like a glove so the only alteration I needed was to get it hemmed. Every appointment made was easy to schedule and the staff was very friendly! Happy my MIL found them :) -

Ferndales made dress shopping fun and easy during Covid. They created a digital inventory album and pulled every dress I wanted prior to my arrival. I was allowed to bring 2 people with me but the also let us zoom with the rest of my family.my Mother bought her dress there 27 years ago and the shop is still just as helpful and the seamstress tailored my dress like a glove. -

I don't even know where to start but here we go! Connie is a gem of a woman and a magician with her product. I went on a whim after realizing I did need a "real" dress even though I was having a small elopement style wedding. Right away I was greeted with a smiling face and excitement and all the help I needed to find my perfect dress. Without knowing what I was looking for we found a few potential dresses, I didn't want a long dress though. In what seemed like only a few minutes we found a few dresses, when I expressed my desire for a mid length dress Connie was thrilled with the idea of creating a masterpiece out of a dress already on the floor and WOW she did not disappoint!! Each time I went in for alterations she was pleasant personable and just the sweetest, not to mention she was able to do all this in less than SEVEN days and did a beautiful job! Her and her family really know how to help make a bride glow! I love it so much I wish I could wear it everywhere!! -

Finding this salon was a miracle in and of itself. I was a bride with a very strict budget but also a very set vision. And it didn't help matters that I was a plus sized bride. I had fallen in love with the designer Maggie Sottero due to her amazing vintage inspired pieces but I knew she was wildly out of my price rage. I knew buying off rack or online was an option but it made me nervous to buy a dress I had never tried on. This is where Ferndales came into play.
They work with a website called The Gown Loft which has lots of designer dresses that are off rack or used to be samples. You just tell the salon which ones you want to try on and they get them in store. It helps the process feel more like a traditional salon appointment but helps save you a ton of money.
I was lucky to find the dress of my dreams that fit like a glove. We did run into some issues because of my larger chest size but they worked with me over the two months leading up to my wedding to find a solution and everything went well in the end. They were always very quick with alterations and while I may have been able to save money going private or shopping around I trusted them with the dress and knew they would provide quality work in a timely manner.
I have no regrets going through this salon for my wedding dress and would recommend them to anyone who is a less than traditional bride. -

This is a family owned business. They hand pick their dresses very carefully. All the employees are so attentive and very sweet. The owners make you feel like family. My dress was absolutely amazing!! -

Marisela Sent on 07/20/2018This review is super late! But I went shopping for my wedding dress last June for my wedding this year March 31. Ana helped me find my dream dress. She was really nice and made me feel very comfortable trying on dresses. I let her know what I was looking for when I got there and the first dress I tried on was the one! After purchasing the dress it was ready a few months early! I was thrilled. Thank you so much Ferndales and Ana!

Not only that, she corrected the alterations on two bridesmaids dresses that had not been done properly at a different shop and they turned out beautifully. Rosa Sent on 04/30/2012The staff at Ferndale's is spectacular. Ferndale's has a huge selection of dresses and Ana did not mind me coming in 3-4 different times to try on every dress I wanted to. My fittings went great, my alterations were perfect; I even had a bolero custom made to match my strapless dress and it matched perfectly. The girls at Ferndale's take a stressful task of finding THE dress and making it into an enjoyable occasion. I might also add, their pricing is VERY fair and reasonable, of course depending on your budget. -

Robin Sent on 06/28/2010After going to several bridal boutiques, I went to Ferndales to try on dresses. They had a HUGE selection and were very reasonable in pricing! Roz helped me with my dresses...she was so much fun to work with and a huge help! I felt very comfortable at Ferndales, unlike some of the bigger and more expensive boutiques where I felt a bit intimidated and less helped. They were having a sample sale when I went in for a look and I fell in love with a Casablaca dress. The dress fit me perfectly and I knew it was the one...unfortunately, it wasn't part of the sample sale. I told Roz I loved the dress and asked her if I could buy the sample I was wearing. After checking with a manager (?), she came back and gave me a great price, which was exactly what I wanted to pay! She even included the cleaning and offered to store it at Ferndales until the wedding (6 months later). When my final fitting came about, it turned out I would need an inch or so taken off unless I wore heels. I wanted to wear flats, but one of the girls pulled me aside and let me in on the price of the alterations, recommending I wear just a tiny heel to pull it up. I thought that was incredibly nice of her, since it would have cost me a fortune! Overall, Ferndales was a great place and I would recommend it to a bride on any budget!! -

Jennifer Sent on 08/30/2010I had a smooth experience purchasing my dress from Ferndales. Nothing dramatic or crazy. I found a great dress that matched the shoes I originally bought. First time around, I went with my best friend. They took down my top 3 dresses and kept my information for the next time. I returned with my mom and tried the dresses again. It was prompt and professional. They found the dresses that were on my info card as my mom and I looked around the store some more. I tried them on again and fell in love with my dress. Unfortunately, my dress was not on sale, but the price was pretty good and my mom and I both loved it. I did not get my alterations there so I can't rate their alteration services, but my experience there was simple, yet pleasant. -

Sindy Sent on 03/24/2009I've used Ferndale's twice - once for myself when I was a bridesmaid, and once for my bridesmaid when I got married. Both times the ladies who helped us with the dresses were pretty helpful in making recommendations and bringing us the dresses. They have the best selection of bridesmaid dresses in the OC. They seem to be somewhat slow in ordering the dresses. That is all fine, but when it came time for the alterations we had undesirable experiences both times.
When I got my bridesmaid dress altered, the seamstress who spoke no English poked me in the ribcage muscle with a pin and caused me some severe cramping pain! I screamed out of pure reaction and she just kept digging the pin deeper. After the dress was finished, I noticed that it made my left chest look much larger than my right. Very asymmetrical. Then on the day of the wedding, the dress split about 1 cm at one of the seams.
When my bridesmaid got her dress altered, they initially made the bust too tight. Then they loosened it and made it too loose. We didn't even bother to get it redone again because the time was getting very short so she had to do some impromptu padding.
In short, I would not use their alteration services again, but I'd definitely recommend the place for trying on and purchasing bridesmaids or wedding gowns. Note that the score would be higher if it were not for their alterations department. -

Alyson Sent on 02/12/2014I was recently a bridesmaid for a bride who purchased our dresses at Ferndale's. The facility is outdated, dirty and cold. There are much more beautiful and inviting stores in the Orange/LA County area.
The major problems occurred at dress fittings. The seamstress did not speak english so you'd have to talk to others and have them translate. Then, an older woman (maybe the owner? manager?) would give her opinion on how the dress was fitting. Me (and the 6 bridesmaids AND the bride) asked for the dresses to be shorter and cut to a pencil skirt (like the sample dress). This lady would not let this happen. It was a fight every time we had an opinion or a suggestion. After paying $250 for a dress we can get at any bridal salon, I would not recommend this store to anyone.
