    Outstanding service for wedding ceremony

Hayes Mansion went above and beyond in their service. The GM Erin and event Manager Victoria ensured it was seamless for us, being available after hours and on weekends. They were professional and flexible to our diverse needs. It was a fairytale wedding and reception. The staff was courteous and made all effort to meet all the needs from the hotel stay and event rental. They were so agile with the rain and no one was impacted. Thank u Hayes.

Monica was our wedding venue planner at the Dolce Hayes Mansion. Monica was very thorough, responsive, friendly and professional. The Dolce Hayes Mansion was very accomodating to our needs during the rehearsal as well as on our wedding day. Prices for the venue was very reasonable in comparison to other vendors. I would recommend Dolce to anyone expecting a successful wedding venue from beginning to end.

This was a perfect venue. It had everything you need for the bride and groom and all the guest. It is a one stop shop. They cater to the bride and groom and make them feel like their special day is the most important event, as it should be.

We selected the Dolce Hayes Mansion for our ceremony and reception (the East Lawn and the Patio Room) and our day was all we had hoped for and much, much more!! We were blessed to have Liveth Ramos as our Event Manager and she worked with us (our budget, etc.) and made sure that everything came together just as we had envisioned our wedding. Liveth is a dedicated professional who is passionate about her job and making dreams come true. We highly recommend the Dolce Hayes Mansion for your wedding venue with Liveth Ramos as your Event Manager.

    Thank you, Liveth!

WOW! What a great place to have a wedding. We had a small (60 people) wedding, so we were able to use different rooms of the mansion. Im not sure how it would be for a large wedding but for our size I highly recommend it. The prices were great and its all inclusive...no hidden charges, which was really nice. We knew exactly what we were paying when we booked. The ladies where great with all the details...I had nothing to worry about. Theres also no need to hire a wedding coordinator or even a day of coordinator. Everything was well organized and went very smoothly. The day was so amazing!

We had our ceremony at the Hayes Manison. The venue is absolutely gorgeous and photos taken here were breath taking. They provided lawn chairs and stage for our ceremony. Our coordinator was fantastic!

We had our wedding at Hayes Mansion less than 2 weeks ago and had an absolute blast! The venue is absolutely beautiful. We had the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception all at the mansion, which was very convenient as the guests didn't have to drive to different locations and all 3 events were practically in the same area. The grand ballroom is a pretty decent size. Our wedding had about 200 people and there was plenty of breathing room and never once felt crowded.

The price was the average amount most of the venues we checked out were (around $30k). Saturday's food & beverage minimum is $21k (service fees, tax and other mandatory costs bumped it up to $30k). With a food & beverage minimum, it really doesn't matter if you invite 50 people or 200, the cost will unfortunately be the same. The Friday and Sunday food & beverage minimum is $14k (at least that's the cost around October, I believe summer may be more).

Hayes Mansion offered special pricing for hotel rooms for the guests at $109/night ($126 after fees and taxes), which is a pretty decent price. A handful of our guests ended up staying there since the price was reasonable and the location of the rooms were very convenient. The room we booked the day before the wedding was literally just upstairs from the grand ballroom. They offered us a complimentary mansion suite upgrade the night of the wedding and gave us the 2nd largest room in the hotel. The bathroom was the size of our room the night before!

Also included in the package is the wedding cake (from Jen's Cake in San Jose). We had to meet with Jen's Cake separately to do the cake tasting and discuss the design. We also hired a recommended decorator (Fine Linen) which was a very reasonable price as well. Since Jen's Cakes and Fine Linen works directly with Hayes Mansion, they coordinate with the venue as far as when to set up, so that's 2 less vendors you have to worry about, which made wedding planning a bit easier on us.

Sheri Mclaney, the Catering Sales Manager, at Dolce Hayes Mansion was really helpful. I wouldn't recommend the downstairs room for a reception, but if you can book the patio that is the way to go. :) We held the ceremony on the grass out front and then held the reception outside on the patio. It was a beautiful event.

Hayes Mansion was actually our second choice, but we were happy with the result. It made great backdrop for our ceremony and pictures. They have over 200 rooms so it was nice to have a one-stop shop there-ceremony, reception and hotel stay.We had 5 months to plan the wedding and we got to work with JoAnn Danna and she was wonderful. She always kept calm and professional and was always available when I needed her. Our reception was in the Edenvale Room and with lighting the place looked great. We had a great time at the mansion and so did our guests, we will visit the mansion every year on our anniversary and reminisce.

We had our ceremony at the center circle there and it was beautiful! The grounds are well taken care of so it will be a very picturesque outdoor ceremony. The only qualm we had was when the ceremony was about to start (we were on time with everything), the ceremony before us that was nearby had run late so they postponed our ceremony without even telling us. I was in the limo waiting to make my grand entrance and knew nothing about the whole scenario. This was difficult to deal with because we were on a tight schedule between ceremony and reception as it was so to have a delay of 5-10 minutes was extremely stressful not to mention our guests had to sit there and wait in the sun. Other wedding parties should not be penalized for another wedding's inability to plan and they should never have overstepped their boundaries and made the decision for us. If you are to book a ceremony here, I would recommend it only if it's during off-season so it will not be as busy and this will decrease your chances of what happened to us to happen to you.

I have mixed emotions for writing this review. There were some days where it was SO easy working with the Hayes Mansion and other days, I wondered why they were making it so difficult. They churn out weddings, particularly Indian weddings, yet it felt so ad hoc. It's such a beautiful wedding and if you're willing to roll up your sleeves, it's a great place to get married. We were very involved and on a tough budget and therefore, it made it hard to swallow some of the additional fees they threw on throughout. Overall, the place is very special and so easy for guests because they can stay right on site. Our guests LOVED it. However, from a planning perspective, I feel like it could have been easier. Shannon was very kind and hands on, but I feel like didn't have negotiating power and ownership that we hoped for. There were too many cooks in the kitchen and we never knew who we were really dealing with. Like anything, make sure your contract is extremely detailed and has exactly what you want. We felt like they may have overcharged us for beverages but there's really no telling. They are honest people and if you are upfront and willing to spend a little more money, it's a great spot to get married!!

    Gorgeous Location, BUT Horrible service

Recently got married at Hayes Mansion, we used the Westwood Patio indoor & Orlo Room for cocktail hour and it was gorgeous. The main reasons why I would discourage any bride & groom to book this place is for a lot of reasons. Planning was a mess, honestly went through so many venue coordinators in the span of a year. It felt like we were being passed from one person tp another because their coordinators would end up quitting not even a month and they are gone. Communication is horrible, I had to reach out to them and follow up several times, very frustrating. We werent offered any bridal suites during our stay, I had to actually ask and it was too late for us to even book a bridal suite. There was another event going on the same night as ours and it felt like the service was so slow for our sit down dinner portion. All in all, I am honestly happy that we got through it. If you dont want stress regarding communicating with their team, i would suggest to find another venue. The hotel is nice, only down side is the walls are quite thin, so you hear everything.

    awful customer service

This is a beautiful property with lots of amazing photo spots and perks, like separate getting ready suites for the bride and groom, the lawn ceremony blending into the patio cocktail blending into the ballroom reception, and a bookable bar space for the after party, and included honeymoon suite. I wanted a venue that was a hotel for my guests, that had an outdoor ceremony and indoor reception, with enough space to not sweat the headcount so we could invite everyone we wanted from the 10+ years we had been together. Like another reviewer, I was discouraged from booking it due to minimum cost for the ballroom, but we booked it anyway. The customer service I received was abysmal in getting aid continuing to plan even details that required the property (like menu tastings, coordinating the cake, linens, chairs, etc.) and often my emails went unanswered. I had to ask repeatedly for their preferred vendor list! Covid made me postpone my summer 2020 wedding and when I started that process in early April 2020, I received pushback, that only weddings during the then-current lockdown (which, if you remember, kept getting extended indefinitely until the "safer economy" color tiered system was established, and I knew it wouldn't be better by summer and wanted to postpone sooner than later to get a good date) could postpone. Everyone I had previously worked with got furloughed, in addition to craziness with ownership change, so I kept getting bumped to new people to talk to, so I'm glad I kept communication in emails for a paper trail. I successfully postponed a year and waited. No one reached out to continue the planning process, or work with me for adjustments to the wedding with covid protocols (indoor/outdoor, size limits, vaccination/test verification, buffet --> plated meals, etc...I had booked a 300+ ballroom with a food and beverage minimum that dictated a larger-than-allowed headcount...). When it became clear we would need to cancel the 2021 date through force majeure 3 months before the new date, I found the previous person I had worked with left the property (I checked their linkedin) and no one new had reached out to introduce themselves; I had to go through the front desk to get to the new (current for many months) event coordinator. I was allowed to cancel under force majeure (California was banning all wedding receptions of any size, disallowing food and drink at wedding ceremonies) and told I would get my deposit back, but it took literally months of me reaching out weekly to even get half of it back. In contrast all my other much smaller vendors issued refunds or worked out a credit system (e.g. my photographer, we'll do a separate shoot with the deposit money) within days. Months later I am STILL trying to get the other half (over $13k, which they claim to have started a refund for) back with emails left unanswered from several staff. The short of it is: terrrrrrrrrible customer service. I think they are leaning on the desirability of the property and how desperate couples are with wedding planning to get away with it. But the wedding industry has been altered by covid and if they want to survive, they need to get their act together in the customer service department.

Hayes Mansion San Jose, Curio Collection by Hilton's reply:

We understand your frustration with the changes in staff at the hotel and the lack of communication and apologize for the difficulty you experienced. The Covid-19 pandemic impacted the hotel industry in unprecedented ways and as you mentioned much of our staff was furloughed and the hotel was shut for several months. It is disappointing that this caused us to be less responsive than we should have been. We share your concerns that we could have done a better job at navigating these difficult times. We dropped the ball on communication and we apologize. We are sure that it was a difficult decision to cancel your wedding, but we understand why you would chose to do so due to the uncertainty on if it would be able to be held. We please again accept our apology on the frustration and difficulty you experienced over the past year working through this process.
