About
"I love still photography, there is something about being a witness to emotions and moments showing what I have seen in a split second when moments later all can change. It is amazing to me all the beautiful moments there truly are."  Laura Olson

Additional Questions and Answers
What is photojournalism?
Wedding photojournalism is capturing the moments as they unfold throughout the day. The essence of photojournalism is to be as unobtrusive as possible. At times I am a fly on the wall and you will not even know that I am there, other times I may be close in order to capture the moment.

Do you take any formal pictures?
I will take some formal yet relaxed group photos. Preferably, I like to take no longer than 30 minutes. You can average about 5 minutes per group. I like to have 15 minutes to 30 minutes of alone time with the bride and groom.
I am not accustomed to doing posed reception table shots for the reason that if I am going from table to table and organizing shots, it takes time away that I could spend capturing the exciting events and emotions that could be going on simultaneously. Do not worry, I will shoot many photographs of your guests as they enjoy your day and if you have someone in particular you want a photograph with or of, just let me know as I am always available for impromptu group shots.

What is Alone Time?

Alone time is a time set apart from the festivities where the bride and groom may regroup, connect and enjoy a few minutes by themselves. It is at this time I will get some natural portraits with them, but not in traditional posed settings. This is a time for the couple to enjoy one another and I am there to capture that, hoping that you forget that I am there. At times I may guide a couple, but is usually minimal

How many proofs will I get?

This depends on your package; you will get at least 600 prints on unmarked professional photographic paper. Digital Files are included in most packages or may be bought.

What Resolution will the photos on the DVD be?

The images on the DVD will be full sized jpg images saved at 10 in Photoshop, which will yield up to an 11x14 (probably bigger).

Who prints my photographs?
I use a professional lab that specializes in digital processing and has been awarded as being the leading digital lab in the industry. Photographs are printed on professional Fuji paper and are to last up 150 years without fading or showing signs of aging.

What if you make an image in B&W and I want it in color?
Once in B&W, it stays in B&W. Your formals may be mixed, some in Black and White and some in color of each grouping.

How long will you keep my files?
I make no guarantees about the safely of your images after 1 year. I keep them on several sources for 6 months.  I recommend when you get your DVD, that you make several copies.

What format do you shoot in?
I shoot in RAW, which gives me the best color and ability to produce the best images possible.

How do you recommend I print out my images?

There are certain labs that I recommend. Wal-Mart, Ritz and several other commercial labs may only be able to load a certain amount of your images. If you choose to use one of these labs, you may want to copy them onto your hard drive and make individual disks of selected ones that you want printed. I however recommend you upload your images to MPIX, which offers professional quality prints to the general public.

Tips and Advice
  1. Wedding Algebra: Start at the reception time and work backwards to find X.
    X = start time.
  2.
  3. Preparation is not wasted time.
  4.
  5. Give yourself extra time. You never know what can happen (traffic, forgot shoes...) Better to have 30 minutes extra to relax than try to cram more in to less time.
  6.
  7. Practice getting dressed and the bustle and the bustle and the bustle, I had a bride that took 45 minutes to get the bustle up .
  8.
  9. Practice walking in your shoes and have a backup pair.
  10.
  11. Bring an emergency bag with: hairspray, clear deodorant, aspirin, water, crackers/cereal bar, safety pins, oil blotting tissues, face powder, extra hose, static guard, bobby pins, mints, pen and paper, mascara and lipstick, stain remover towelettes, chalk to cover stains that may occur on your dress...
  12.
  13. Bobbi Brown makes a great under eye lightener cream that works great for under eye circles! You can apply as needed throughout the day.
  14.
  15. Don’t over do it on the celebrating the night before.
  16.
  17. Crochet Hooks work well to button the backs of dresses.
  18.
  19. You’re only wearing this dress once so have fun with it.
  20.
  21.  Drink Water & Eat
  22.
  23. Go to the bathroom before you put on your dress  (Of course I have gotten some cute shots when that did not happen J)
  1. Make sure everyone has directions to venues or you will be giving them out all day.
  2.
  3. Make sure everyone who is in a formal has been told that they are in it.
  4.
  5. Be prepared for rain, but don’t fret JIf it rains, have a black umbrellas. They look great in B&W shots.
  6.
  7. Have thread that matches your wedding dress as well as your bridesmaid dresses. 2 times I have seen zippers fail, but thread to sew it shut works like a charm.
  8.
  9. Crochet hooks are wonderful for buttoning and brides dress in the back J

Nobody will notice most of the things you care about. So relax a little. You (the bride) have placed lots of effort into planning this day but realize that most of it is out of your control. Things WILL happen. Let them slide and make the most of the day. Your guests will never know the way things were planned to be. Enjoy!
