I definitely recommend Jean and Double Take Photography for your wedding! We loved Jean’s photo journalistic style and the way she captured genuine moments during our engagement shoot and wedding day. She helped me feel relaxed and positive throughout the day even though it was unexpectedly cold and rainy. She had a great attitude and captured some amazing shots that will last a lifetime. My husband has an awful “fake smile” in most posed pictures, but Jean was fantastic at getting real, authentic emotion from him. I love our photos so much and I’m so glad we chose DTP as our wedding photographer.

There are hundreds of options out there for wedding photographers. We went with Double Take Photography because there was a richness and a warmth in their portfolio that we couldn't find anywhere else, or at least within 300 miles. Each photo seemed to be alive. We also appreciated the photo-journalistic style. We were getting tired of seeing the same forced poses, wedding after wedding, portfolio after portfolio. We were hoping that we could get a photographer that could capture genuine moments rather than contrived poses, and we were so, so happy with what DTP did for us on our wedding.

Jean showed up right on time, and was immediately a breeze to work with. Our wedding was ABSURDLY DIY (almost to our own peril), and I was running around putting out fires while the bride was preparing for the ceremony. All I had to tell Jean was that I didn't have a lot of time to go over things with her, and that we simply loved the photo-journalistic style in her portfolio. She was incredibly easy going and just disappeared into the crowd. I don't remember seeing them during the ceremony, which is good. Photographers shouldn't be noticed during a ceremony, in my opinion. I'm not a fan of ceremonies with paparazzi swarming all over the place. It's very distracting and diminishes the moment. After our ceremony, we did do a few posed pictures, because it's kind of unavoidable. They turned out absolutely breathtaking. Every photo was dramatic, yet charming. And then Jean and her assistant disappeared into the crowd again, capturing moments everywhere! When we received the photos, it was like we were reliving it all over again. Family and friends were commenting on how beautiful the photos were, and on how every moment of that evening and night was captured in the best way. When it was finally time for them to leave at the end of the night, I noticed something odd: it was almost as if Jean and her assistant were old friends that we had invited to our wedding. Five Stars!

My husband and I loved working with Jean! She was so much fun and did an amazing job with our engagement and wedding pictures. While planning our wedding, we decided that great photography was one of the most important things to us and we are so glad we chose to work with Jean. We were very impressed with the quality of her work and her responsiveness. All work was completed when she said it would be and it was done very well. We'd love to work with her again.

We are so impressed with Jean! We originally had not planned on doing engagement photos, but we are very happy we changed our mind! Jean makes them very affordable as part of the wedding package. We used the engament photos for our invitations, shower thank you cards, AND our guest book. Not to mention presents for family.
She caputured the love and energy of the wedding perfectly. It will be hard to not over fill our house with pictures of the wedding. My husband and I knew right away when we met Jean that she was the perfect photographer for our wedding. We already knew we loved her photos because they were beautiful and she had the eye we were looking for. Jean was amazing to work with. She was flexible, creative, accommodating, patient and fun. We had so much fun. The thing that meant the most to me about Jean was when I was stressed and freaking out, she was calm and sweet. She calmed me down and kept things on track. We literally jumped in her car and she drove me to our next shot for the wedding. Her demeanor and calming presence meant the most to me when I was so stressed. Looking back, she is an angel for keeping her cool! Now that we have our photos, every precious little moment of our wedding is captured. She captured my grandmother crying, my little brother dancing joyfully, the way my husband was looking at me coming down the aisle and many hugs and laughs. It means the world to us to be able to remember all the little moments of such a hectic, beautiful, important, special day. :) Jean went above and beyond and our photos are absolutely lovely. I recommend her with my whole heart!!

Our great experience started as soon as we called Jean Mazac - my sister remembered her being lots of fun at a wedding she was in last year. We'd been calling several photographers to find one within our budget who was willing to travel to our destination wedding. We knew Jean was the right choice when we asked a question about her shooting style. She responded with enthusiasm and was throwing out ideas, she seemed truly excited to work with us. She talked about her new equipment, and some principles she goes by for weddings, you can tell she has passion for what she does.

Planning a destination wedding is tough, you often don't get a chance to meet the vendors before the big day. Jean and Amber were kind enough to come introduce themselves the night before, and meet the VIPs in our families. On the day of the wedding they knew who the parents, grandparents, and special relatives were, so they were able to get lots of good shots.

Throughout the first look and formal photos everyone was laughing and the entire wedding party commented on how they seemed different than other photographers.

We didn't want to spend much time posing for every configuration of family - Jean was polite and professional, but also effective at getting people to cooperate.

Now that we’ve seen the 1000+ photos, we’re ecstatic. We’re experiencing some parts of the wedding through the photos, things we didn't know were even happening. There are hilarious shots of people dancing, and beautiful detail photos. But the ones we cherish most are the moments caught on film that capture the mood and the atmosphere of the day: glances between grandparents, cousins laughing - they truly captured personalities and relationships.

We feel so fortunate to have had Jean and Amber be a part of our special day. It honestly didn't feel like they were vendors, rather like guests. We ended up asking them to stay and mingle after the shooting was over, they fit right in with our family and friends.

Jean is the best person to work with. She is fun and flexible with new ideas and making sure all the pictures are taken with the best light. The engagement photos were used for all the invitations and wedding wedsite. I can't wait to see how the final wedding shots turned out. I so wish that I could leave Jean a 10 out of 5! She was incredible from the beginning and able to capture our wedding so beautifully! She has a great talent for connecting with guests and for getting beautiful candid shots. She caught all the important moments and all the details. We really could not have been happier. She was very flexible with finding a plan that would work with our needs and our budget. She was also very communicative during the editing process. Most importantly, she did everything in her power to make sure we got exactly what we wanted and made us feel like there was no one more important on our wedding day. Double Take Photography recently did my winter wedding photography and I am beyond delighted with Jean's work. I was very impressed with her ability to work with all tricky situations which came with a winter wedding-bright snowy backgrounds, sunsets, reflecting water, dark indoors, bright indoor dance floor lights, etc.. Jean was there for every memorable experience and caught it all on camera. She did a great job capturing the formal photos in an elegant manor while also capturing amazing candid moments. Jean is amazing! After having having a bad experience with a previous photographer, we switched to Jean. We shot new engagement pictures with her and we were blown away with how much better they were. She has a very warm and inviting personality that makes anyone feel at ease.
