I choose Black Crow Calligraphy because he was local and I wouldn't have to waste cost/time shipping my envelopes both ways but I regret it. When I meet with Bob, he showed me some examples of his work which were almost all in a gothic style. I had brought a few examples of what I wanted which was more curvy and with thick lines and explained the concept of inner envelopes which apparently he had never heard of (this should have been my cue to go elsewhere, but I was in a time crunch.) He said that the style I wanted wouldn't be a problem so the next day my fiancee dropped off our envelopes and he provided a sample. When I saw the sample we called because I was a bit concerned with the sloppiness of it, but he said he had done it quickly while my fiancee was standing there so I felt assured the real thing would be better. A few days later (I will admit he is very quick), my fiancee picked up the envelopes but when he brought them home I was distraught. The envelopes were much sloppier than the sample had been and he had totally changed the style of font, which was much more angular, and used such a thin line it almost looked like a basic ball point pen was used. Additionally he forgot a few of the envelope, separated guest names awkwardly and was totally off center with many. Apparently he claims he had trouble with the texture of the envelopes we provided, but if that was the cause I wish he would have stopped and attempted to contact us to ask how to proceed rather than ruining all our envelopes. Overall, I was extremely dissatisfied with the professionalism of the work so I sent Bob an email explaining my concerns and that I was unable to now get new envelopes and have them redone in time to send out my invitations, but suddenly he is unreachable even though he had answered all my other emails within a few hours.
