17 May, 2019The story of our wedding
Matt and I met at Wingate University through a mutual friend - funny part is we met because he was being set up on a date with another friend! We became friends and stayed that way for about 3 years. We hesitantly started dating but it didn't take long to know we wanted to spend forever together. After 4 years of dating, Matt took me back to Wingate University and proposed! He even hired a photographer!
Now I'm the girl that has dreamed about planning a wedding even prior to meeting Matt so I knew almost exactly what I wanted; something fun, relaxed and bright flowers! We started the engagement with a fun engagement party; a kickball game with his family and friends against mine! This was something I'd always wanted to do! When it came to picking the venue, he immediately chimed in that he wanted to get married at the coast. After doing some searching, we found Lockwood Folly Clubhouse. It was perfect becacuse not only was it beautiful, but it was right by Holden Beach, NC where we've taken a majority of our vacations. After that, planning was a breeze.

A Columbia PFG fishing shirt and khaki's is what he looks best in and is comfortable in too! For the girls, I wanted something affordable and flowy. I found some amazing convertible dresses on Etsy.com that worked for all 7 of my bridesmaids shapes and they really appreciated the price tag!
Flower's were one of my priorities and something I was most neverous about. Luckily I found Calabash Florist & Co. I talked to her once and knew she knew what she was doing and trusting her worked out in my favor. The flowers were gorgeous and made everything pop!
The wedding day was a breeze. With the help of my amazing friends (who did a lot of the work setting up and cleaning up), it was close to flawless. My favorite memory from the day was our first look. I was so nervous since I hadn't spoken to Matt all day (which is a long time for us!). He waited with his back turned at the end of a long dock and turned around as I was walking towards us! We had a few moments just to ourselves before the chaos of pictures took place.
As excited as I was to plan a wedding, I have to admit, I don't want to do it again. Not because it was stressful; surprisingly, i loved every minute of it! But honestly, because I wouldn't change a thing for how it turned out. It was beautiful and I am now married to the best man I've ever known.
