19 Oct, 2019The story of our wedding
Just about a year after getting engaged, Sam and Kevin made it official with a perfect ceremony and reception at the Mountain Room at Mount Southington in central Connecticut. Kevin has been snowboarding for years and some of our first memories as a couple were teaching Sam how to ski and snowboard before epicly snowy trips to Vermont and Colorado. The mountain and lodge location were perfect for showing off gorgeous fall colors and creating new memories.
It was a gorgeous fall Saturday and the ceremony was planned just about the time the sun would disappear behind the mountain. Sam surprised Kevin by having a real ring ready for the ceremony when he thought only a silicone ring would have arrived in time, which led to him almost dropping the ring and Sam catching it! The entire day was full of laughter and love.
Our immediate families and bridal party were able to ride the ski lift up to the top of the mountain for beautiful sunset photos. The caterer brought snacks and drinks up for everyone to enjoy while the cocktail hour started back at the venue. Supposedly there was a bear sighting on the mountain, but everyone was safe!

The caterer was a local not-for-profit restaurant that benefits a local charity and all leftovers were donated. Dinner was followed by dances with parents, where Sam's dad surprised her with a video playing of her from her younger years as a "ballerina;" she laughed throughout the entire dance.
The dance floor opened and everyone was able to enjoy the great music, open bar, and video/photo booth upstairs. The full dance party was only interrupted to celebrate relationships new and old with an anniversary dance. Right before the indoor bar closed the strawberries 'n' cream cake was cut and more entertainment was announced: a new bar would open outside with s'mores, and a local liquid nitrogen ice cream truck was there until the end of the night!
The party continued on the outdoor patio with a firepit, group pictures with the winter beanie wedding favors and sparklers, and plenty of dessert. Before too long it was time to go and we couldn't believe the happiest day was over. The amazing pictures help us relive the day all the time!
