2 Nov, 2018The story of our wedding
Keaton and I are high-school sweethearts. We dated 9 years before we became husband and wife. We chose a fall wedding not only for the lovely weather, but also because we really wanted to get married in November, the same month we started dating. My favorite thing about our wedding was blending both of our cultures. My family is from Mexico and Keaton's family is from Texas. I made sure to have something old, something borrowed, and something blue (not a tradition in Mexico). Our first dance was "Green Eyes" by Coldplay, then immediately after we had a mariachi band play while we ate fajitas and tamales for dinner. The date of our wedding also fell on the Day of the Dead so to honor our lost loved ones, we had a small, simple altar. My grandmother was one of the family members that we lost so we also had her bizcochos made for guests to enjoy as a dessert. One of the things that I looked forward to was taking sunset pictures; out of all the pictures we took that day, those are the ones I love the most.
