28 Apr, 2018The story of our wedding
Jake and I got engaged in early December and got married at the end of April, so we had a short window to plan our big day. All of the vendors we worked with were SO accommodating and made our wedding day perfect and blissful. First off, I've been planning weddings and designing wedding dresses since I was 8 years old. For my wedding dress, I went to a designer named Afa Ah Loo, an independent designer located in Utah. He worked with me the whole way through the design process to create a dress that was as unique as it was beautiful, and it suited me perfectly. He was so fun to work with and has an amazing eye for design and he made the whole process such a special part of my wedding. I'd been dreaming about designing my dress since I was tiny, and he made that dream happen. Afa is the best! We had our ring ceremony and reception at Tarallucci e Vino on Broadway in NYC. This venue is beautiful - tons of natural light, exposed brick, wood floors, and just the right amount of space so that it felt intimate but not cramped. Basia Biddle was the event coordinator at Tarallucci e Vino, and she was so helpful, responsive, and hardworking to make everything seamless day-of. She coordinated delivery with all our vendors, set up the space, coordinated our tastings and kept me on track for all of the smaller details we needed to take care of before the wedding day. Day-of, she made sure everything went according to plan so I didn't have to think about it, which made the day perfect. I can't speak highly enough of Basia! All of our vendors made the day so beautiful - I love flowers, and Belle Fleur LLC (Tammy Fischetti) made all of my floral dreams come true. She made all of our bouquets and boutonnieres which turned out beautifully, but the best part was an incredible hanging floral arch that was the backdrop of our ring ceremony - it blew me away. She was so careful and kind in making sure she knew exactly what my vision was, and she did an exceptional job in bringing that to life. After our ring ceremony we had a delicious dinner catered by Tarallucci e Vino, and all our guests told us that it was some of the best food they'd ever had. Our wedding didn't serve alcohol, but they created some original non-alcoholic mocktails for our reception that our guests were raving about for weeks afterward. All of the serving staff were kind and so thoughtful, even setting aside some of our cake for us to take with us after the reception! After dinner and toasts, we had dancing, and our DJ Nicole Otero kept everyone on the dance floor the whole night. After dancing we cut and served our cake, made by Nikki Pensabene at byPensa. This cake was perfect - I gave her some ideas that I'd been thinking about and she totally brought to life the cake I was hoping for. She was super accommodating with our cake tasting the month before the reception and the cake itself was delicious - we had carrot cake with lemon buttercream frosting. Following our cake cutting we had a confetti exit, and it was such a happy moment to be celebrating with so many of our close friends and family. Our photographers and videographers, JayLim Studios, did the most incredible job at documenting all of the big and small moments of our wedding day. The bridals they took were spectacular and captured some beautiful areas of the city, the footage they got of the actual event was so well done, and they were professional and fun to work with the whole time. They captured all of the things we wanted to remember and so many more things we hadn't been able to see with all the craziness of our wedding day. They created an hour-long wedding video for us and a small highlight reel as well as editing hundreds of incredible photos of our day, and we were so glad we chose JayLim. Overall, our wedding day was the happiest day of our lives, and these wonderful people made it beautiful and effortless on our part. I can't say how grateful I am for all of the work they put into it, and was so glad we chose the vendors we did!
