29 Sep, 2018The story of our wedding
From start to finish, our wedding was incredible. If we back up a little bit, Ian and I met in 2014 when we started working at the same office together. Our relationship was secret at first, as it was against office policy - but we found a way and we made it work! On our first date, we went to a chinese restaurant and my fortune cookie told me that my future was sitting right in front of me. I got chills. Turns out that was a pretty smart cookie! We did things pretty out of order and moved in together within about 6 months of dating, and bought a house a year later before we were even engaged! When Ian finally decided to pop the question in May 2017, I had no idea it was coming! I had planned a great vacation to California, and little did I know that there was a surprise coming my way. When we arrived at our Airbnb after a full day of flying, I was ready to unpack and unwind before dinner. Ian was practically jumping up and down to get me to go take a walk on the beach with him for the sunset, and eventually I agreed, but by that time the sun had set. He popped the question right there on the sand and it couldn't have been more perfect. We celebrated as we usually do, with a couple of cold beers!

We didn't speak all day - but we did write eachother letters to read before the ceremony. There were definitely waterworks. It started to rain just minutes before the ceremony was set to start - but at that point, I didn't care, I was just ready to get married! Our officiant talked about our furbabies in our ceremony, and made it so personal to us as a couple. At our reception, we danced and danced and danced all night long. Our first dance was to "Can't Help Falling in Love" by Haley Reinhart. We talked about that song on our first date, so it seemed only fitting! At one point, Ian even did a dance battle to "Get Low" with one of his friends! He won, of course. We left the reception in a classic white Rolls Royce, which was a gift from Ian's parents. Despite the rain, it was the best day we could have imagined and I wouldn't have changed a single thing.
