Dipen and Megha's Wedding in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Time zoomed by, and before we knew it, five amazing years had zipped past. Those years were packed with adventures, endless laughter, and sharing our wildest dreams. On our 5th anniversary, Dipen surprised me with a beachside dinner on December 18th, 2021. With the day unfolding, and beach excitement building, we headed to the dinner spot. But wait, there's a twist! This super kind lady popped up, revealing an anniversary surprise. We put on blindfolds, and strolled hand in hand, guided by a violinist playing our favorite love songs. Feeling Dipen beside me, emotions hit hard. Blindfolds off, and voila, the breathtaking beaches of Aruba greeted me. Dipen, down on one knee, asking me to be his forever partner. Sunset hues painted the sky like a love celebration thrown by nature itself. Overflowing with joy, I exclaimed a resounding "Yes!" to the man who captured my heart.

Now, let's talk wedding planning. We were faced with a big decision – local shindig in the NJ/NY area or a destination wedding. Then it hit us – our first real getaway was to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. This tropical paradise was where our love story kind of bloomed, filled with adventure, laughs, and all that good stuff. So, it felt right to say our vows at the stunning Hard Rock Hotel in Punta Cana, the very place where our journey began.

Once we made up our minds, we started dreaming up the wedding bash we had in mind. We wanted to mix our traditions with some modern vibes, making every event meaningful and unforgettable. Our wedding week was like a non-stop party, combining the Sangeet and Garba into a crazy Welcome Party that set the tone for the whole shebang. We had the Pithi and Grah Shanti ceremony, too. But the real showstopper was the actual wedding, followed by a massive reception. For each event, we aimed for a consistent yet unique vibe, settling on this rustic boho theme that was just so us. Even our outfits had that touch of individuality. For the Pithi ceremony, we rocked some killer purple threads to stand out from the sea of yellow. And for the wedding itself, it was all about soft mint and pink, a perfect match with our crew's outfits.

But it went beyond just appearances – it was about authenticity. We were all about breaking out of the usual and ensuring everything was equal. We did things like applying sindoor to each other, exchanging mangal sutras, and sharing kisses at the mandap without holding back. No more hiding behind veils – I walked down the aisle, locking eyes with Dipen. Those moments were pure gold, making us feel liberated and cherished, memories that will stay with us forever.

Our wedding day was like this incredible quilt of colors, emotions, and traditions all stitched together in this totally one-of-a-kind and real way. It was about pushing boundaries, honoring where we came from, and fully embracing the choices we made together.
