17 Nov, 2019The story of our wedding
Our day was just magical! We loved having all of our favorite people together to celebrate our marriage.
Daniel and I met the summer going into my freshman year of high school at youth group. We met on a retreat and became great friends. After friend-zoning Daniel for 6.5 years, I finally decided to give him a chance...and I'm so glad I did :) after a year and half of dating we got engaged! We were stoked and jumped right into wedding planning.
We chose Spruce Mountain Ranch as our venue because it was absolutely GORGEOUS and the staff was such a joy to work with. We loved how many different elements there are to the venue itself, giving so much variety for pictures and options for where to hold the ceremony and reception. It was important to both of us to have our bridal party pray over us before the wedding and so we made sure that was a part of our day.
My husband's mom is a sign language interpreter, and so we had an interpreter at our wedding to allow our deaf guests to be just as involved in the process. Daniel and his mom also incorporated sign language into their mother-son dance.

During the ceremony, we created a "memory box", for us to look back on and see items related to significant events during our relationship. For example, we had a Bible, a little Lego sets (we love building Lego's for a date night), etc. The other fun fact about our ceremony is that the youth pastor that introduced us in high school was the pastor who married us.
Walking into the reception area, our guests had their names with the table number on a little tag clipped on an old window frame with stapled on chicken wire. This way we could use those again in the future. For table arrangements, we had a slab of wood, a lantern, table number, flowers, a bourban/whiskey bottle with fairy lights, and a little picture of us. We also had thank you notes at each place setting; we wanted each guest to know that we were so thankful they were there to celebrate with us. Daniel and his family LOVE the Minnesota Vikings, so I surprised him with a Vikings cake as one our of sheet cakes. At the end of the night, we ran through as our guests blew bubbles into the tunnel.
One of our favorite moments of the day, was when we were dancing later in the night while all of our guests circled around us; it felt like the rest of everything else faded away and it was just us there.
