The story of our wedding

My husband and I met on Tinder and his last name is White, so naturally our hashtag had to be #SheSwipedWhite. He told me on our first date that "he was going nowhere" - something he never lets me forget. After about 2 years of dating, he popped the question during a concert put on by my favorite band (the Revivalists). We are both extremely adventurous and I have planned weddings most of my life, so the obvious choice for us was a destination wedding. We genuinely just wanted to spend time with those that we loved most, and know that of our friends and family don't get to travel as much as us. This seemed like the perfect combination and a great opportunity to explore together.

After doing a lot of research, we decided on a Resort in Cancun, Mexico. I was tired of seeing barns and monotone, washed out wedding photos, we wanted our special day to be full of color and life. My husband is also Hawaiian, so we decided to add leis to the wedding to celebrate his heritage. We hired the PERFECT photographer and PERFECT decor company / planner to help make our ideas come to life and after 9 months of planning - we had the most beautiful waterside wedding (despite a few frustrations with the resort)! We also hated the super stuffy dance-floor and DJ cliché that happens with most weddings and didn't see the 30 close family members and friends that came with us wanting to do the chicken dance with each other, so we instead decided to end the night with a bonfire on the beach. Complete with pillows, string lights, and a festive playlist we made ourselves - it made for the perfect ending to a perfect day. Prior to the wedding day, we even hired an excursion company and took the entire group to the Mayan ruins of Tulum and the Yaxmuul cenotes! It was such a great experience to have together and is something we will never forget.
