Every member of the catering staff is helpful, kind, and went above and beyond to make sure our guests were comfortable and taken care of. The team makes the process of selecting your food, tasting, and confirming final headcount easy and stress-free. The food is tasty and is well-worth the value. Adelaide is one of the BEST VENDORS you will ever work with - she is organized, professional, kind, and knowledgeable. To give one example, when another vendor sent over a lopsided wedding cake on the day of the event, she fully re-frosted and re-deisgned the cake so that we could have our cake cutting ceremony. Colleen Sent on 10/29/2014I wish I could give Zeffert and Gold more than 5 stars. We worked with Matt Gold specifically, and he patiently helped us throughout the entire process. He was always very responsive over email and phone, and went above and beyond to make our day exactly how we wanted. Sean and I are both very detail-oriented and Type A, and Matt was able to truly blow us away with the reception set-up, staff, and of course the delicious food. I remember on the day of the wedding we were both looking around and saying to each other "This is perfect".
We would not have changed anything about our wedding, and we really appreciated the special touches Matt and his staff gave us -- for example, making sure we were always ready with a drink in hand, fixing my dress as I walked down the aisle, and the amazing "to-go" basket of food that Matt fixed for my husband and I to take with us that night.
Our glasses and bellies were full that night, but more importantly, our hearts were full. Matt and his staff dealt with some random issues throughout the process, and his staff managed to set up an INCREDIBLE reception room that went above and beyond my expectations.
We will be recommending Z&G to all of our friends, who kept gushing about how great the food was. The presentation of the food was gorgeous, and every single appetizer and entree was raved about by the guests.
Also, I should note how personable and kind the staff was. Everyone was a joy to work with and seemed happy to be there. They were bringing us drinks all night, helping me in the bathroom with my dress, and just overall seemed to CARE about their jobs. Matt and his staff -- thank you!!! -- we could not have had the spectacular wedding we did without you. -

I cannot say enough good things about Zeffert and Gold! I have compliments to say about every aspect of their services -- from their quick communication throughout the process, the tasting, and the food and drink itself the day of the wedding. All of our guests loved all the food and could not stop talking about it! Special thanks to Matt for everything he did for us throughout the process. And thank you to Ginny who was my husband and my personal attendant throughout the evening, bringing us appetizers, drinks, water, etc. She was amazing! -

Mike Sent on 07/14/2013Our catering experience was wonderful. Monroe handled our event, and we couldn't have been more pleased. The food was great- all of our guests said so. The set up was flawless, and the staff professional. I was also pleased with the prices. We were working with a smallish budget, and had a large number of guests so it was important to us that the price not get out of control, but we also didn't want to sacrifice quality. We opted for a buffet style, and it worked out perfectly. It was also very calming to know we were working with a company that was experienced with our venue so we could let them handle all the decisions about set up and trust that they would do it the most practical way. So glad we chose Zeffert and Gold! -

Zeffert and Gold is hands down the best caterer in the DMV! Food is one of the most important parts of your day and Zeffert and Gold will definitely deliver. Each person we interacted with from Iris, to Matt, to Megan was kind, warm, and truly cared about us as a couple. There was such a large variety of appetizers and entrees to choose from, one of the hardest decisions we made was having to narrow down the list of what we wanted to eat at our wedding (macaroni and cheese cups, crab dip, meatballs to name a few!). Our original plan was to go with the family style meal, but with COVID, we decided to go with a dual-plated meal so that our guests would still get a variety for their entrees. Zeffert & Gold worked with us and we were able to choose a different option that worked best for how we envisioned our wedding. Megan helped us come up with our signature cocktail, and when we didn’t want to go with the traditional cake route, we communicated that with Zeffert & Gold and we were able to do a cinnamon roll bar where our guests got to choose their own toppings for a cinnamon roll, which was something we’d never seen done before at a wedding. We felt like they cared about us as individuals, not just because we were clients. From the set up until all of our guests left, everyone involved on our wedding day was extremely kind and professional. We would certainly recommend Zeffert & Gold for anyone looking for a wedding caterer! -

Zeffert and Gold is everything you want in a caterer for your wedding day. They are incredibly professional, responsive, and the food was superb! We worked primarily with Matt Gold, who was so on top of everything and a real pleasure to work with. The display (from linens to plates to silverware) was beautiful and the entrees looked like they were from a 5 star restaurant! And, they actually came out hot (I've had my fair share of cold wedding food)! My husband and I absolutely recommend them for your wedding day! -

My husband and I were blown away by Zeffert and Gold's service on our wedding day. Multiple guests commented on how wonderful the food and service is. It was a fine dining experience and everyone could see how professional Zeffert and Gold's team was.
Jayne (who was in charge of the day-of service team) really went above and beyond. She answered all of our requests promptly and we didn't have to worry about a thing. Because of Zeffert's team, we were able to truly enjoy our wedding and not worry about a thing.
We also researched a dozen of catering company beforehand and got quotes from all of them. For Zeffert, you get the most out of your money spent.
Matt was wonderful from the beginning. His response was prompt and helpful. We truly appreciated working with Zeffert and Gold and would definitely recommend them to newlyweds.
For your reference, we got married at the Mansion House of the Maryland Zoo on July 20th, 2019. -

Choosing Zeffert and Gold was hands down the best decision we made along the planning process. Iris guided us through the process from beginning to end. The options to choose from were endless but once we gave our ideas Iris helped us come up with the perfect menu. And the food was AMAZING!! We went with a buffet and everything was still so flavorful and classy.
But it was so much more than the delicious food. They helped us with our timeline, walked us through the venue answering all our questions. The day of they set up everything exactly as we wanted. My husband and I cannot say enough about our experience with Zeffert and Gold - our only wish is that they had a restaurant for us to go visit now that the wedding is over!! -

We chose Zeffert & Gold because they were an approved caterer for our venue, which required us to select from a predetermined list. This ended up being spectacular, because the quality of service (and food!) they provided was outstanding. Matt was extremely responsive and helpful with my numerous questions and requests in the planning process, and all of the food was amazing and delicious. The ability to completely customize your entire menu from start to finish is wonderful, and every single thing we chose was so good. They helped us ensure we had vegan and vegetarian food options available for some of our guests, and were able to provide donuts (made fresh on site DURING the reception!!) during the reception for us rather than cake, which was what we hoped for. Imagine your wedding. Now imagine that it smells like donuts. Who could be mad about that?! They were also great at helping me choose linens, tweak my table arrangements last minute, and create signature cocktail options. I was able to request paper straws for our bar to reduce our environmental impact, which they accommodated very easily! Once the wedding was underway, Megan provided my husband and I and our bridal party with snacks and drinks during our photos (absolutely awesome and so thoughtful), and at the end of the night, offered to pack some leftovers up for us to take away as well! I can't recommend Z&G highly enough. Just a stellar experience from start to finish, and working with Matt and Megan was just a dream. -

This caterer provided an outstanding tasting, great customer service, provided great food, was easy to work with and helped us make our wedding night great. The catering company was wonderful. They attended to our needs (champagne at head table), redirected costs for cancelled guests to other special add ons, provided good feedback in terms of venue spacing, and served delicious food and donuts the evening of our wedding. We couldn't recommend this company more! -

Zeffert and Gold were amazing from start to finish. Lisa, specifically, was so helpful and accommodating. She answered all of our questions promptly, and helped soothe my anxiety. The all-inclusive pricing was very fair considering all that was included. We looked at other catering options, and there was a lot that Zeffert and Gold offered that other caterers did not. The food was so good, and our wedding guests couldn’t stop talking about it. Sarah also was very attentive on our wedding day, and was always available to bring us food and drinks. I would highly recommend Zeffert and Gold to anyone having a party. -

My god, where do we even start with how amazing Adelaide and the entire Zeffert and Gold team were? We had our wedding at Gramercy Mansion on May 11. Having been to lots of large events, we didn't have a lot of confidence that large-scale catering could truly wow anyone, but Z&G proved us wrong, and we're so glad they did!
From the first contact, Addie was flexible, responsive, diligent, and enthusiastic. These traits only proved to be a cornerstone of our wedding day. The tasting was absolutely incredible. Addie suggested changes based on our dietary restrictions and personal preferences, no matter how seemingly minute. She was only helpful, never pushy. When Ilana said she liked a salad we tasted, but did not like the beets, Adelaide said it was no issue to swap it out for carrots. And that was our first course at our wedding, just like that. When we were considering which vegetarian dish to add to the menu, Adelaide helped steer us to something that our vegetarian friends might enjoy more because it was a bit different than what they might be used to having at weddings. We appreciated that thoughtfulness. Addie helped us think through the details we never would have considered, making the planning straightforward and easy. And they worked with us on creating fantastic signature cocktails and mocktails! Adelaide and Z&G have a lot of experience, and it's always on display in a comforting way.
As for the food itself, the short rib was exceptional, and the teriyaki salmon main course was exquisite. I had people with distinguished taste say how much they like the mac and cheese appetizer. When I had the Natty Boh French Onion Dip, I was sold on Zeffert and Gold. They had such a good variety of food options for every course, and you couldn't go wrong. Their add-on packages were also transparent and all looked great. They were flexible when we wanted to change things in our package, like adding a champagne toast. At the same time, they made sure that non-alcoholic cider was available for the non-drinkers among us, which we expressed was important.
Adelaide and Ally (who was assigned to us, the bride and groom, to make sure we were always happy!) made sure we got a little bit of anything we wanted while we were scurrying around the day of. We were actually able to sample all of the apps, which they set aside for us despite the fact that we were busy with photos for the whole cocktail hour. They made sure we ate during the reception, and gave us a care package at the end of the night with samples of just about everything and some of each flavor of cake we had. They also dropped everything to help coordinate with my designated friends who were leaving early, about taking home leftovers from the event to their fridge. UNREAL. Talented, professional, and a pleasure to work with, Zeffert and Gold and Adelaide are just next level. -

delicious food, wonderful staff
We are thrilled with our experience with Z&G. We worked with Matt, who was responsive, creative, and worked to accommodate our vision in the best way possible. There were so many food options it was hard to pick- but our guests loved everything we chose. We even got to create our own 'honeymoon station' which had Italian and Greek food, inspired by our honeymoon trip. The day of, Z&G staff worked tirelessly to make sure everything was perfect, and especially ensured that the bride and groom ate, and never went without a drink in our hands! We cannot recommend you guys enough- our guests are still raving about cocktail hour... -

Excellent choice! Great choices for appetizers and dinner menu. Our choices were delicious! Z&G was extremely helpful in the planning and the wedding days staff was so helpful! Especially Matt! They made sure the wedding couple and all the guests has everything they needed. They assisted with the setup and taking down at the end of the night. Nice touch to give the couple a special basket of goodies for them to enjoy later. I would definitely recommend Z&G for any catering event! -

Our catering experience was nothing short of amazing! Lisa was a dream to work with—attentive, thoughtful, and committed to helping us bring our vision to life. They incorporated elements from Maine (Lobster Rolls), New York (NY-style cheesecake), and Maryland (crab dip) to create a menu that was both personal and delicious. The tasting was beautifully run, and it was such a special memory to share with my parents. On the big day, the food and service were impeccable, and our guests haven’t stopped raving about how incredible everything was. WOW...we were beyond impressed with Z&G's level of service, responsiveness, flexibility and quality of food at our wedding. We first met Matt Gold at our tasting (which was truly phenomenal), and knew immediately that Z&G was the caterer we wanted to work with. Not only was the food amazing, but Matt was super friendly, professional and down to earth. Also, we were able to have 4 entree selections for our plated dinner for the same price that another caterer quoted us for just 2 selections. Matt was there for our walkthrough a month before the wedding, and was very involved in working with our wedding planner to make sure everything flowed nicely. He even accommodated us wanting to upgrade our flatware a week or two before the wedding. All of the on-site staff was super friendly and went above and beyond to make sure our day was perfect. We missed cocktail hour for photos, and when we got back to the bridal suite we had a personal tray of apps to enjoy! We both also had drinks in our hands the entire night. All of our guests complimented the quality of the food and service; a few even said they would be using Z&G as a caterer for future events. Z&G was super impressive and was such a big part of why our wedding day was so amazing. Thank you, Matt and team! -

Truly amazing. During our whole process Iris and her team exceeded our expectations! She was so accommodating and I she never told us no when I feel that we were very particular about some things! We loved all the food from beginning to end and she was able to make every meal better than the last somehow because they were all amazing! Iris was so kind that she even set up a table for us away from the ceremony so we could sit, breathe and have a chance to eat! It was so thoughtful and we didn't realize how much we needed it until we sat down! She was essentially our day of coordinator and she made everything flow so smooth! She was always there with our favorite drink in hand and making sure we felt so comfortable through the night. At the end of the night she made us a tray of ALL the food from the day because she knew we probably wouldn't be able to enjoy all of it and we were so happy she did because the day after we were able to enjoy EVERYTHING... I even had the cake for breakfast! I wish we could give her more than 5 stars because iris and her team did SUCH an amazing job!!! -

We had been to 2 weddings catered by Z&G before we got engaged and started looking for our caterer. We only did tastings with 2 caterers, and Zeffert and Gold by far had the best food, service, and value. They didn't even charge us for our tasting and didn't ask for a deposit or contract until afterward! I had them custom make some items and provided the recipe and they nailed it, even inviting us back for a 2nd tasting to make sure it was right. The set-up of our cocktail hour and reception were exactly what I imagined, and they worked seamlessly with my coordinator to set up everything including chairs for the ceremony. Iris was a delight to work with and just made everything so easy. She never pressured us to pay extra for something we didn't need or want. She was very fun and lighthearted and all of the staff members we interacted with the night of our wedding were so friendly and polite! We have been receiving compliments from our guests for the past month for the wonderful food, beautiful displays, and superb service. The best part is that we ended up being under our budget! -

Zeffert and Gold is a stronghold in our area, for good reason. We had a 172-person wedding on Saturday and Z&G was excellent. Their communication leading up to the weekend was wonderful—attentive, responsive and answered all our questions. On the day itself, they were professional, friendly, and courteous. The food was excellent—truly no complaints, it was fantastic—and the service was amazing. As the bride and groom, we love food but were anxious about missing out because of how busy we’d be. When we came in from the ceremony, they had a tray of apps prepared for us, so that we could be sure to enjoy the apps while they were fresh, before heading out to pictures. My attendant, Kim, was fantastic. I later learned that she also designated herself as the support person for one of my guests who was unexpectedly in a wheelchair due to recently breaking her foot. The guest shared that Kim was always coming by to ask what she needed and was attentive. Overall, we are very happy. We were told we couldn’t go wrong with Z&G and we were right. -

Zeffert and Gold's team is fantastic! From the second we contacted them up until the day of our wedding, everything was seamless. Matt was so responsive, organized, personable and reliable. Our tasting was delicious and a blast and it was so much fun getting to know Matt and getting to taste the amazing food. Their team was a well oiled machine on the day of our wedding. They were so efficient flipping the space and making our cocktail hour and reception absolutely beautiful. The bartenders and servers were incredible, making sure our entire bridal party had food and drinks at all times after the ceremony. The food was hot, delicious and cooked perfectly. Cooking for, serving and bartending for 200 people is no easy task and they made it look effortless. I HIGHLY recommend Z&G for any event you are looking to have catered! -

The preparation with Lisa and Kim was so great, Lisa was always very quick to respond and work with us when we had crazy needs. The food was so tasty, every guest said they loved their meal. I would have them cater any event we have in the future! -

We can not say enough good things about Zeffert and Gold. Adelaide and the whole staff were very helpful from the start and were very good about calming our nerves while planning the wedding. It was difficult to decide which menu options to choose because all of the food from the tasting was delicious. They could not have been more wonderful on the day of the wedding. They made sure that my husband and I had enough food to eat and made sure that we had a drink whenever we wanted one. They went above and beyond to help one of my guests who was pregnant and realized she could not eat the food she had chosen because she was not feeling well. The staff worked with her and gave her an entire plate of mashed potatoes because that is what she could eat at the time. They also worked very well with our Day Of Wedding Coordinator. We thoroughly enjoyed all of the leftovers that they gave us and we were glad that we were able to try the food that we did have time to enjoy during the reception. We wish we could plan another big event so we could hire Zeffert and Gold again!

The day of staff was amazing. On your wedding day you're usually too busy to eat, but their team would bring us appetizers and drinks to make sure we tried everything! I would HIGHLY recommend working with Zeffert and Gold's team!!
