Yana Shellman was an incredible photographer to work with! From the start, she made me feel at ease in front of the camera; her thoughtful questions ahead of our big day (including a detailed questionnaire) really made my wedding day run smoothly and ensured that she was able to capture every moment that was important to me. Her natural warmth made her a pleasure to work with and I cannot recommend her knowledge of and talent in her field more. We truly cannot say enough amazing things about Yana Shellman. From the very beginning, she was everything you could ever want in a wedding photographer, and so much more.
Our wedding journey took an unexpected turn when a blizzard hit on our original date, and what could have been just a stressful and disappointing situation turned into something incredibly special because of Yana. She showed up with such a positive, calm energy and made the absolute best of the day. She took over 200 beautiful photos of us and our bridal party, capturing moments we’ll cherish forever, and she did all of that completely free of charge. That level of kindness and dedication is something we will never forget.
When we rescheduled our wedding to April 3rd, Yana didn’t hesitate. She made herself available for our new date and didn’t charge us anything extra, which truly meant so much during an already overwhelming time. It just showed us, once again, how much she genuinely cares about her couples.
On our actual wedding day, she was with us for her full-day package, and from the moment she arrived, she brought such a fun, calming, and supportive presence. She is incredibly kind, personable, and genuinely funny - she kept us laughing and relaxed all day long. We were a little nervous about posing for photos, but she made it feel so natural and effortless. She guided us every step of the way without it ever feeling forced or awkward, and somehow made us feel completely comfortable in front of the camera.
She also did an amazing job managing the flow of the day, keeping everything on track while still allowing us to fully enjoy every moment. It felt like she was not only our photographer, but also someone in our corner making sure everything went smoothly.
And then there are the photos… absolutely breathtaking. Every single image is filled with emotion, beauty, and attention to detail. She captured so many moments we didn’t even realize were happening, and looking through our gallery feels like reliving the entire day over and over again.
On top of that, her turnaround time was incredible. We received our full gallery of over 1,500 photos in less than two weeks, which completely exceeded our expectations. The quality, the quantity, and the speed, everything was beyond impressive.
Yana is not only unbelievably talented at what she does, but she is also one of the most genuine, caring, and dedicated people we’ve had the pleasure of working with. She went above and beyond for us in every possible way, and we feel so lucky to have had her as part of our wedding.
If you’re considering booking her - do it. We would recommend her a thousand times over without hesitation!! -

This review is long overdue, but we cannot say enough great things about working with Yana for our June 2025 wedding!! Yana was communicative and thorough leading up to the wedding day, and we felt like she had a great understanding of what pictures/moments captured were important to us. Yana was an excellent communicator day-of, and kept us and our wedding party on our timeline. Yana delivered our "sneak peeks" within 3 days and had the entire wedding album beautifully edited and returned within two weeks- we were SO impressed and grateful!! Yana was incredible and so easy to work with! Throughout the entire planning process she was responsive, professional, accommodating and mostly enthusiastic! From our engagement shoot to our wedding day, she made us feel comfortable and directed us with ease to get incredible photos. Our sneak peek was delivered very quickly after our wedding and photos followed soon thereafter. I cannot stop looking at them! Yana is extremely talented and so good at what she does and we loved working with her 😊 -

Amazing from start to finish
If you are looking for amazing photos, a positive and relaxed planning experience and the best energy on your wedding day then Yana Shellman is your answer. We can’t say enough wonderful things about Yana! First she has the brightest and most positive energy and every time you speak with her she will energize you and excite you for your big day. Second she is a trooper, i really wanted our photos outside but it was freezing, snowing and super windy and Yana made it happen. She is also extremely detailed oriented and provides a wonderful sense of calm to a crazy morning by taking all the concern out of making sure you get all the pictures you want. Her work speaks for itself, her photos are beautiful and perfectly capture the feelings we shared on our special day. You can’t go wrong hiring yana on such an important day you will be happy you did. -

This review is incredibly late, and I apologize. But I need to tell the world about the amazing experience I had with Yana Shellman as my wedding photographer. Normally, I am a casual photographer and am always the one taking pictures at events. So when I needed a photographer for my wedding, I was very anxious to find someone who would capture everything I would want and not miss a single detail. I found this reliability in Yana Shellman. Originally scheduled on May 1, 2021, we postponed due to COVID (which was a good decision as if we had continued, we would have not been allowed a dance floor) to August 14, 2021. We initially booked Yana Shellman in 2020 and knew from the first phone call that her fun personality and laughter put us at ease, especially my now husband who gets sick of photos very quickly. We had our engagement photos in September 2020 in LBI and solidified our opinion that we made the right call. Yana is amazing at making you laugh, feel comfortable, and have fun during photos. She even got many great shots of our dog, Lyla, and bunny, Thumper. Throughout the planning process, Yana was available for any questions including providing a photographer's day timeline to help build my timeline based on. I never felt alone and knew I had an expert to turn to with any questions. On the wedding day, Yana was above excellent and I do not and will never regret putting our faith in her. Yana not only kept us laughing and smiling but did so herself on a 104-degree summer day. Our photos came out better than we could have ever dreamed and Yana made sure to capture all of our guests having a blast and all of the little details I worked so hard to create. I constantly see my wedding photos on my walls and family's and instantly know how blessed I was to have met Yana. I cannot wait to work with her again in the future for family sessions. Thank you so much, Yana, from the bottom of my heart, for making our day extra magical and captured beautifully. -

Yana Shellman is not only an amazingly talented photographer, but also the kindest and most hardworking person. She is my new role model and I seriously aspire to be like her!! Yana is joy, artistic talent, organization, stamina personified. Even if you are camera shy or awkward, she makes you feel like a million bucks and makes the whole process very fun and natural. She is super detailed, keeps time, and plans the photo schedule so that you don’t have to worry about a thing. She is also the world’s fastest photo editor and you will get pictures, and TONS of them, much sooner than you think. Honestly, we would have paid much more than her price, she is the best! She will be our go-to photographer for many years to come! -

She is hands down the sweetest person my husband and I have ever met! We absolutely loved
working with her! Yana is very welcoming and easy to be around. She guides you through the whole process from wedding day timelines to posing you for photos seamlessly. I know my husband and I were nervous about how to pose going into engagement session and she made us feel at ease. Wedding day went perfectly and I couldnt imagine booking anyone else! The photos came out beautifully and were turned around quickly! We look forward to continue to use Yana for future photoshoots! HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend booking Yana for your wedding! -

Booking Yana as our wedding photographer was one of the best decisions my husband and I have ever made. From our initial consultation to the delivery of our gallery, Yana was sweet, organized and professional. At our engagement shoot, we got to know her and feel comfortable with her so by the time the wedding came, we were comfortable with her. She was so efficient at taking our photos and got all the shots we wanted, AND they came out better than we could have imagined. Would 10000% recommend!
I don’t know where to start with Yana, except to say that she was one of the best wedding decisions I made! She is an amazing photographer and even more adorable person. She is so organized, so thoughtful and so talented. Our engagement photos gave us a chance to “practice” with Yana, and gave us so many amazing pictures that I used both at my wedding and around my house. My actual wedding day Yana and her assistant felt more like both wedding planners and photographers. She kept everything so perfectly organized and on time for me that I did not need to worry about anything except enjoying my day. She put my entire bridal party and family at ease for pictures. She made sure she knew my exact vision and schedule and she followed it perfectly. It snowed after our ceremony and Yana’s encouragement and vision got us some of the most amazing wedding photos! However, she also respected when we had had enough and were cold. Her goal is to get you all the pictures you want, but to never impose on your enjoying your day. We got our FULL gallery back super fast, completely edited and absolutely beautiful. You are going to be spending a lot of time with your wedding photographer on one of the most important days of your life so I suggest picking someone you genuinely like! I LOVED Yana, she really is one of the sweetest people I have ever met and I can’t wait to refer her to anyone who asks (since I’ve already had engaged friends reach out bc they saw her amazing pictures of mine), and to use her for other stages in my life! Thank you, Yana! -

Hiring Yana as our wedding photographer was by far the best decision we made for our wedding. I would give her a million stars if I could! She is extremely talented and organized. We could not be happier with our wedding photos AND our engagement photos, which she did as well! We will treasure them forever. Yana made sure the whole day was going according to schedule and made sure we got all of the photos we wanted. She also made being photographed so easy! By the end, Yana truly felt like our friend. -

Initially my husband and I had disagreed on a budget for our wedding photos - but after our wedding he told me he felt the money we paid for Yana was the best money we spent on our wedding! We love our photos but that’s not all - You spend ALL day with your photographer and Yana was a joy to have by our side! She’s bubbly and positive and fun! She makes it impossible not to smile for all her photos and she did a great job of keeping me focused through the stresses of getting ready! I would highly recommend her, and so would my husband -

We found Yana through a referral from another photographer and it was probably the best thing that could've happened! She initially set up an in-person meeting with us at Starbucks to get to know us better and go through a timeline to give us a rough idea of what our wedding day would look like. We instantly fell in love with her positive energy and bubbly-ness and knew we wanted her to be the one to capture all of our wedding memories. Throughout the wedding planning process, Yana helped us in more ways than just a photographer. She gave us recommendations for pictures and helped us with the timing of everything so we could coordinate with our other vendors - it truly was a wedding planning lifesaver! She was very quick to respond to emails or messages which is a plus in my book ;) On the day of our wedding, she was amazing! She was professional, efficient and still her bubbly self - many of our guests complimented her sweet personality as well as her way of maneuvering through the crowds to capture wonderful memories. Overall, I would highly highly recommend Yana for your special day, she delivers high quality work -- she definitely won't disappoint! -

A wonderful photographer and person to work with.
We decided to work with Yana after experiencing her work first-hand through a friend's wedding. Yana is a delightful person who brings a positive energy with her to every encounter. She was so flexible and thorough throughout the planning process, down to the last detail. She makes it a point to know everyone involved with the wedding by name, including other vendors, wedding party, and parents/essential family members. The day of our wedding Yana and her crew effortlessly helped the picture-taking process to run smoothly despite the rainy weather. Her work is beautiful, we could not be happier with her photos to remember our special day! She is truly a wonderful photographer and a beautiful person to work with. -

Yana is seriously the sweetest, most talented, and up-beat photographer you could ever hire. Her kind and loving personality really shines through her photos. She made me feel extremely confident and has us laughing all day long. You can really tell how much she cares about her shots, and she was super quick to send us our full gallery! Yana perfectly captured our day, there wasn't a single bad shot in a gallery of over 1500 photos. You can really feel how much love was in the air, not only in shots of my husband and I, but of our guests as well. I could not recommend her highly enough! -

Yana was absolutely amazing and worked with us on our non traditional ceremony (family only 9/30/17) and reception (10/7/17-about 100 guests) so that we were able to capture the different vibes & style of each event. She was always early & took the time to meet with us on multiple occasions prior to the events. We even had some special requests of guests who we wanted (and didn’t want) in certain shots and she effortlessly directed everyone so that we able to get exactly the photos we wanted. As a bonus, she was able to speak Russian to my husbands side of the family & English to my side, which was amazing & made everyone feel right at home. After our wedding we chose our photos for our album, and when it arrived we were delighted. Yana’s blog is adorable & I also definitely recommend checking it out for examples of her work. 100% recommend!! -

Not only is she the sweetest, friendliest person, she is also a complete professional. We met for the first time for our engagement photos. We were very nervous and not used to having professional photos taken but Yana put us at ease and went along with every idea we had, including having our dog in the photos. Leading up to the wedding she was completely organized and on top of every detail. On our wedding day she was punctual, upbeat, and endlessly energetic. I don't know how she does it. Everyone at our wedding was commenting that Yana managed to be everywhere for any special moment, without being intrusive or in the way at all. We completely love our photos and will treasure them forever along with the personal USB drive of the photos and the amazing album. I would highly recommend Yana to anyone.

She was always there to answer any questions I had and also did so very promptly. She made sure that she made my wedding day go as smooth as possible. She came for the full day and was be there to capture every moment possible. It’s hard in your wedding day because you want to enjoy it and sometimes all of the roles you have to play can be very overwhelming. Yana managed to balance it out and we didn’t feel like she was overbearing or over doing it yet she still somehow managed to capture all the best moments. I would recommended Yana to any bride/groom or anybody else looking for great photos! You will not be disappointed!
