Local Bakery is just what I needed

We opted to do a 3 layer 8in cake for our wedding cake. It was perfect for what we were looking for & very reasonable in price! Would highly recommend them!

Woodlea Bakery-delicious cake!

We used the Bel Air location of Woodlea Bakery for our wedding cake. The cake tasted delicious and was EXACTLY what I wanted it to look like. They followed the example pictures and descriptions perfectly and the cake arrived at the venue without any issues. They were also accurate with their suggestions for number of tiers based of number of guests attending.

My wedding cake was exactly what I wanted. My cake and cupcakes tasted phenomal. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Woodlea bakery is amazing!! I recommend them to everyone.!!

I have been going to Woodlea Bakery my entire life, so it was the first place I thought of when booking my wedding cake and I have to say that it was the best decision I could have made. I had a consultation with Charlie, he brought out at least 10 different cake samples and then went to the back to bring out fresh frosting that was being put on the donuts, needless to say I was hooked. The cake turned out beautifully, and Charlie even went out and bought more ribbon for me because I hadn't given him enough for the whole cake. I would recommend Woodlea to anyone for any occasion.

Woodlea Bakery was a pleasure to work with. The owner sat down with my fiance and I and not only provided samples to taste but also books that we could look through to get ideas about what we wanted the cake to look like. I also requested that cake charms be put in the cake from the bridal party to pull at the wedding. Everything was done and delivered as promised.
We decided to add extra pastries to the order later. I thought they hadn't been delivered, but it turned out that they were eaten so quickly I didn't know they were there! Everyone thought they were delicious as well as the cake which was beautifully decorated as well.

The Woodlea Bakery was the perfect place for the Wedding cake along with extra desserts for guests. The cake was abolutely gorgeous and tasted even better. We ordered small fruit custrad cups. They were great. The cake was exactly what we wanted.

My mom got her wedding cake from Woodlea bakery before I was bornn and without a doubt, we decided to go with Woodlea too. It was the best choice. After our first tasting, we were hooked and glad we choose the flavors for our cake. Our cake was delivered and set up profesdionally according to our host. When I saw my cake for the first time, I wanted to cry because it was perfect. It was set up and presented just as I envisioned. They did well using my inspiration picture and the flowers I gave them. In my eyes they get 10 stars for everything: taste, vision, presentation.

We had a red velvet cake with fondant. The cake was absolutely delicious and incredibly moist. We had guests specifically tell us how great the cake was. The only regret my husband and I have is that we didn't eat more cake on the day of the wedding. We froze the 4th tier, but we plan to ask Woodlea to make us a small replica of our wedding cake for our 1-year anniversary. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a bakery to make their wedding cake!

The cake was fantastic. On time, delcicious and exactly as I ordered. One minor drawback is that everythign had to be done in person - no e-mails and had to make final payment in person, but well worth that little incovenience.

Hawaiian Cupcake was the Surprise Hit!
My mother took charge of cakes (because I live across the country. This is from her: "The cupcakes were delicious, as was the tier. They delivered as promised. I would go back and order a cake for other occasions." A note from me - the baker was kind enough to freeze and send some samples with my mother to California so we could taste some cake (so fun!). And the Hawaiian Cupcake (Pineapple with Marshmallow frosting and coconut) was SO good, everyone was beside themselves! Also the S'More Cupcake made dessert so much fun!

Our cake was gorgeous and exactly as we ordered it. It arrived on time. The woman we dealt with at Woodlea was professional, very helpful, and nice. We got a 4 tier carrot cake with buttercream icing and it was delicious. I only wish I had been able to keep all the leftovers for myself instead of having it sit at empty seats and get thrown out.

* perhaps your caterer or planner has a solution to help you get to eat more cake!

The wedding cake was just beautiful. We received so many compliments on how pretty the cake was. Woodlea was very easy to work with and went off of a picture that my daughter had. They did a wonderful job making the cake look like the picture. I only got to taste one layer of the cake and it was very good. I have been eating it every morning with my tea. Red velvet with butter cream icing. So good. I recommend this bakery for your wedding cake.

Woodlea Bakery was a great bakery to work with. They are a small, locally owned shop in Baltimore, right down the road from where my husband's parents live. They gave us some amazing options to chose from. The cake was absolutely delicious. We had a small three tier round with buttercream. Everyone at the wedding remarked at how tasty the cake was. The decorating was beautiful. The best part, the price! They gave us a stunning cake for very little money. I would definitely recommend this bakery.

This is a long review because I have so many good things to say! Woodlea Bakery provided our wedding cake, groom's cake, and a surprise cake for my bridal shower. They were the least expensive place that we looked into, and we were amazed by the quality of their service and cakes! Everything tasted great! We had fondant for all 3 cakes, and I was worried that it would be dry, but the cake was moist, flavorful, and the icing tasted sugary and great. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

The wedding cake was a beautiful design that we chose from the sample book and came out exactly as we hoped it would. Where the pastry chef really impressed us was in the two special cakes we requested. The groom's cake was made to look exactly like one of my husband's "toy" tanks that he uses in Warhammer 40k. It was perfect, and the coolest cake that the guys at our wedding had ever seen. For my bridal shower, we got a cake that was a replica of the Eiffel Tower make out of cake, cookies, and icing. It was completely amazing and creative. We thought these special requests would be difficult to get, but they both came out great for the fraction of the cost we would have paid elsewhere. Everyone at Woodlea bakery was friendly and we couldn't help buying some of their other baked goods every time we came in. The baker was so much fun to work with on our zany cakes, and her enthusiasm for the projects made the whole experience enjoyable.

Charlie and Pat at Woodlea bakery are the most wonderful people to work with.

We had an amazing cake tasting with Pat, and months before the wedding decided on the spot that Woodlea would be the place where cake memories would be made!

The cake met my expectations to the tea ! Absolutely perfect in taste, looks, and size. It appeared seamlessly, as it should be.

Each layer was delicious, as I ate all four

While you are at the bakery, dont forget to pick up some of their baked goods for your week ahead !

Woodlea was the best choice! We rely on them for Sunday pastries but it never occurred to me that they did such great wedding cakes. We tried all of the fancier bakeries and were mostly unimpressed with the flavors and overwhelmed by the prices. We eventually tried Woodlea but worried they wouldn’t be able to do a cake that would be as pretty as some of the other bakeries. We were totally wrong. The cake tasted incredible, looked absolutely gorgeous and was an incredible value. Guests raved about it. We especially recommend the red velvet!

Charlie and staff were great! My family has been going to this bakery for years so when we met up with Charlie for the cake tasting he was quick to answer all of my questions and very flexible with delivering the cake. Everyone at the wedding loved the cake and unfortunately the only taste I got was what my husband managed to smash into my mouth. But we can't wait to eat it on our one year! Thanks Woodlea Bakery!

Our wedding cake was simple yet beautiful and delicious. All of the guests remarked on how great it tasted and looked. I found a picture in a magazine that Charlie and his team replicated perfectly but with a bit more flair.

Our wedding cake from Woodlea was WONDERFUL!!! We worked with Charlie who was great and our cake turned out exactly how we wanted it! We had red velvet for two tiers, and yellow pudding for the other two! We also got little fingers desserts for the tables (blackbottoms, cheesecake, etc) and they were great as well!

The cake was beautiful, delicious and delievered and ready when we arrived to the reception venue. Charlie, the owner and cake designer/creator was easy to contact, available for appointments and helped me choose the right cake for our wedding. He was very knowledgable on the size, types of filling, cake and icing choices that we could choose. The cake was so good, we cannot wait to eat it on our one year anniversary!

The Best Wedding Cake EVER!!! Red Velvet cake was to die for. I was married on a Sunday, they bake all their cakes on Wednesday...still moist and delicious. Stay away from the pound cake, as it is drier. Overall, great experience!

The price of the cake was included with the catering through an agreement between the businesses which made it really nice and easy. The cake was exceptionally delicious and they actually suggested doing different flavors for each layer which I never thought about-it was great! Plus the cake looked fantastic with the icing designs and the red ribbon around each layer.

Wedding Cake

We used Woodlea Bakery for our wedding cake. We ordered a 4 tier cake for about 135 people. It was beautiful and absolutely delicious!! Woodlea even confirmed delivery in the snow (we had a winter wedding). They were professional and well worth the price. I will always recommend them for cakes and desserts to family and friends. We weren't interested in a detailed or dramatic cake, we just wanted one that tasted good. Woodlea was easy to work with and created a delicious cake with a different flavor for each layer. The cake was simple and we decorated it with flowers from our florist. Staff was sometimes difficult to contact based on part-time hours.

Woodlea Bakery created a beautiful wedding cake and gourmet cupcakes for our wedding! The exterior was exactly what I wanted and I was so pleased with the way the cupcakes turned out! We got so many compliments on the flavors and our choices. It was very easy to plan everything with the manager's help! The only issue we had was the flavor in one tier of cake was incorrect. We ordered the top 2 tiers to be carrot cake and the bottom largest tier to be vanilla with raspberry filling, but we got the top and bottom tier vanilla with raspberry and the middle was carrot cake. My favorite it carrot cake so I wanted that as my top tier anniversary cake, especially since the carrot cake went so quickly that I didn't even get a piece! Other than that, I was very very pleased with the cake & cupcakes! Thanks, Woodlea!

Woodlea Bakery did an amazing job with my wedding cake. I wanted something different for my wedding cake and chose to do a funfetti cake. Woodlea was more than willing to accommodate this request. I struggled with finding decorations for my cake, but the staff at Woodlea were very helpful in helping me pick stuff out. I got a 3-tier cake to feed about 175 people. The cake was absolutely delicious. Every single piece was eaten. My caterer said that she had never been to a wedding that the cake was completely gone! It was amazing! Thanks Woodlea!

Our wedding cake from Woodlea's got great reviews from our guests. They all loved how delicious it was! The cakes are also very reasonably priced. The decor of the cake came out pretty well however the coloring looked way off from a distance. It was suppose to be a burgundy top which up close it did look that color but from a distance it looked quite brown which was a little disappointing since it didn't go with our colors at all. Seems like they went a bit too dark compared to the ribbon sample I gave. However it came out tasting great which is what matters.

My parents bought their wedding cake at the same bakery 53 years earlier & this was the bakery I always begged to get marshmallow donuts from after church (you have to go early!)when I was a kid. So of course I was ordering our cake from Woodlea. Consultation was a 'canned' approach by giving us a piece of cake to take home, but that was OK in the end. We got rave reviews from the cake. It was delicious.
I even asked for them to put Swarovski Crystals on it and it wasn't a problem (mom made me put it on our menu card so no one would ingest them...). I loved it!
Only issue was we paid for the cake upon ordering, since we were paying off our wedding as we went along. Charlie told us he's give us a credit if the head count was lower then we guess-timated. When I called back, I was told it would be handled and it never was - approx $55.

The cake was beautiful and delicious! It was also very fairly priced! My only issue with the Woodlea was:
Charlie was my "cake designer". I had a heavy and unusual cake topper and I had some concerns about it being to big or to heavy for the cake. I called that store who told me I should come down and show Charlie. Okay, no biggy. I called to get his schedule, and stopped down at NOT a busy time. I asked to see him and explained my situation and what the girl on the phone had told me. Apparently he was far to busy AKA rude.. to even stick his head out from the back and reassure me the topper was fine. One of the girls out front ran it into the back and came back 2 seconds later and said.. "its fine"... I thought that was a little tacky that he couldn't even come out for a minute and reassure me... because thats what was told to me by his staff!!!!

The cake tasted delicious!! This place has been around forever and the quality of the cake shows it. However, they forgot my cake topper! I hand delivered it, as requested, with the ribbon to go around the cake, weeks before my wedding. The ribbon was on the cake but no topper. I paid over $40 for the topper to go with my theme and was extremely disappointed when I looked at my cake, as it was missing and the cake looked bare. Yes, we had designs on the side but the top looked naked. I wouldn’t say don’t go here, but be very careful when giving them items, maybe have someone from the bridal party bring it separately. Now I have pictures with random flowers on my cake instead of the fun topper that I bought. Definitely a bummer.

Our reception venue included a cake from Woodlea in our package. We went through the Bel Air location. We had a few issues in the planning stages. We live out-of-state and made an appointment for a cake tasting when we would be in town. They called us that morning to tell us they messed up and didn't have any cake for us to taste and we had to reschedule- a pain with our busy wedding planning/traveling schedule. They also required me to do a lot of legwork in getting verification from the reception hall that it was going to be paid for because they had issues with them in the past (I didn't need to know that...) and that the florist would add the flowers because they didn't want to be responsible for that. The process was a little more cumbersome than it needed to be. However, the cake ended up being beautiful... and delicious! The product is excellent... customer service just needs some tweaking, at least in Bel Air.

We used this bakery because my mother in law would always get baked goods there. The taste testing was a little unorganized but the end result was perfect. They made the cake exactly how we wanted it. It was 3 different flavor, top was tuxedo, 2nd was vanilla, and bottom was tuxedo. It was have been good because not very much came home with us which was good.

The beginning was a little shaky but the end result was a plus.

Lady who waited on us was rude to my fiance' She would ask question and then look at me not her. Made her feel real bad like she was too slow to respond or just didn't respect her.

Cake was good, well priced and pretty. Was not overly impressed with the selection of styles for cakes. Also, picked out a specific color ribbon for the cake and it was not delivered with the right color, despite calling in advance to confirm. Overall I would recommend as our grooms cake did turn out very well!

Beautiful cake, really enjoyed the tasting and meeting to discuss the style of cake we wanted. Cake delivered with no problems.

During the meeting with the baker though, when we came in, they had to rush this family with young children off their table and wipe down the table quickly to have us seated! :-(

Granted, the family was almost done and packing up, and they didn't just kick them out, but still, I wish the bakery had a designated table or area for meetings so other customers' tables wouldn't be needed. :-( Also to be fair, I do NOT recall if we just walk in or had an appointment... I believe we had an appointment, but I am not so sure anymore. It's all a blur now!

We decided to get red velvet for our cake and the guests loved it! Only problem was that there were too many people handling the cake order and got things mixed up resulting in cnumerous calls to me. Other than that-the price and cake was great. I believe we paid three bucks a slice and the cake was delicious and beautiful!

I grew up eating goodies from Woodlea bakery so thought it would be great to get my cake from there. Let's just say that if you want a cake tasting like you see on TV then you better bring your own! Needless to say, I cried while sitting there because they made me feel like crap! They were not helpful-I drew my own design, they were unorganized, I never met with who they scheduled me for except the last time which was 5 days before my wedding. The staff was rude at times, I had to wait for my scheduled appointments, they lost hings, and I had to go back three times (and live 45 minutes away). It's really sad to say but their customer service needs major improvement. In the end...All in all the cake was gorgeous, and tasted amazing! I guess that what really matters but to make a bride cry is just not right!

I tired to use Woodlea Bakery for my wedding cake and even went in for a consulatation. The consultaion was challenging becasue it seemed I either had to pick from a rather outdated book of cakes or design the cake down to the last detail. They weren't very creative, and kept recommending I have a fondant cake when I did not want fondant.

We followed up several times with Charlie, but he didn't return phone calls and it was only a few weeks before the wedding. My dad spoke to Pat (an owner) who was suprised that Charlie was unresponsive and she apologized. She mentioned that Charlie's father, the previous owner of the bakery, had recently passed away. So it was a rough time for their family business, which may have resulted in the problems we experienced.
