We loved our experience with Wingate's Cake Design! Lauren made the process incredibly easy, and the finished product was not only beautiful, but delicious. From the cake tasting (which is incredibly flexible and lets you mix and match many of her cake and frosting flavors) to the design (she has a huge inventory of examples, and then helps you create your own unique vision) to the finished product (which was flawlessly executed and DELICOUS), we could not recommend her more. Everyone was raving about our cake, and we had no leftovers :) Bonus - Lauren is so kind, and she knows so many of the vendors in the Newport area, making the coordination between vendors seamless. -

All of our wedding deserts from Wingates Cakes were so so delicious!!! We went with the strawberry shortcake shooters as well as the tiramisu shooters alongside of our cake and not only was the presentation of them awesome - they tasted amazing. Lauren was so easy to communicate with and nailed our cake perfectly. I also want to mention the sea salt chocolate chunky cookies we had at our rehearsal as well. They were probably the best cookies I have ever had and all of our friends and family agreed. I wish I could have them all the time!!! Overall, Wingates Cakes was 1000/10 and I would recommend them to anyone! -

Amazing dessert spread !
Lauren was so wonderful! We wanted the stature of a large wedding cake, but much preferred smaller bites for the guests with a small cutting cake for us. The display looked amazing! And everyone LOVED it. Not to mention everything is so delicious! I highly recommend Wingate’s Cakes! -

We booked Wingate’s Cake Design for our Welcome Party desserts in Newport, RI. From the moment I first inquired to the day of the event, working with Lauren was a pleasure. She was incredibly responsive, professional, organized, and informative. She recommended the perfect amount of desserts for our group size, and the perfect variety. Our guests did not stop raving about the Apple Cider Donuts or the Sea Salted Chocolate Chunk Cookies! (I was so excited we had some cookies left over that I enjoyed one the morning of my wedding!). Would definitely recommend using Lauren if you’re thinking about it! We decided sort of last minute we wanted to do a cake for cutting and I’m so glad we did! The flavor choices were amazing, it was so hard to chose. We ended up going with red velvet with buttercream frosting and it was absolutely delicious. Lauren made our vision come to life, and created the cake of our dreams. -

Wedding planning can be so tough and stressful so don’t pick vendors that make it harder. Lauren is amazing. She is so professional so talented and passionate. You can taste it !! We went to a lot of different bakeries for our wedding cake but when we did your tasting with Lauren we felt like royalty. Everything was set up so Beautifully. We couldn’t pick a flavor so we had to do another tasting and she even set it out in a Togo so we can do it at home and really have time to think. She was so easy to work with, she put together our dessert buffet so beautifully. I kept adding things and changing and she was so kind the whole way through and accommodating. People are still talking about our cake and desserts lol it was so delicious Thank you Lauren for everything!! -

Wingate's Cake Design made our wedding day absolutely magical and delicious! My husband and I were blown away by her creativity, kindness, and professionalism from start to finish. She was incredibly accommodating, listening closely to our vision while adding her artistic touch that made our cake truly one of a kind. We chose Red Velvet with Biscoff Cookie filling and fruity and light Passionfruit options for our wedding cake—as well as a variety of macarons. Beyond her talent, Lauren was timely, responsive, and a true joy to work with. We loved her baked goods so much that we keep coming back for more whenever she has pop-ups. Her cakes are not only stunning but also absolutely scrumptious. We can't recommend Wingate's Cake Design enough—you won't find a more talented or wonderful person to work with! A++++ -

We absolutely loved the whole experience of purchasing a wedding cake from Lauren! She is so kind and knowledgeable and the guests LOVED the cake. The design was beautiful and exactly how we imagined it and she even was able to make the lemon cake we chose “less yellow” on the inside so it was a bit more subtle. We had so much fun tasting cakes at the beginning as well + we would certainly recommend her to everyone. Fab experience overall -

The most delicious wedding cake
Our wedding cake for Wingate's cake design was absolutely incredible. Not only was Lauren very easy to work with and communicate with, the cake was absolutely delicious. We had a fantastic tasting with Lauren and she was very accommodating to even some last minute requests we had that popped up. I highly recommend trying the "rose all day" cake. Lauren made a beautiful white cake decorated with real flowers from our florist. It was a dream! -

In planning a 60th Wedding Anniversary for my In-Laws, a special custom cake was a requirement. 60 years ago, my In-Laws were married at a courthouse and did not have a wedding celebration. Having experience in executing corporate events for my employer, I knew how important this occasion would be but imagine planning a “wedding celebration” from thousands of miles away across country as a surprise - this was our situation.
In truth, Lauren was one of five cake bakers that I interviewed within the MA/RI area. However, from my first contact with Lauren Wingate at Wingate’s Cake Design, I knew I had found the baker who could execute a special custom cake for the celebration. Her customer service, detailed communications, and flexibility were nothing short of exceptional! She understood the cake vision and created an edible, delicious, visual art for the event of 90+ attendees. Her passion for quality was evident with the cake tasting appointment where local family members attended in my absence. Lauren’s expertise fine-tuned the cake design and flavors during the appointment, and she was open to new ideas.
The final product was amazing – her beautiful artistry coupled with a delicious creation was flawless perfection! Lauren’s cakes are made from scratch and the texture and taste of her labor is clearly evident. No commercial cake mixes or frostings here, just fresh fantastic decadent moist cake, rich creamy buttercream and in our case, a sweet lemon curd filling. The cake was so scrumptious that guests were having second servings during the party and the 60 “take home cake boxes” were all used. The cake design was beautiful, and Lauren was able to create magnificent edible art simply with conversations and a copy of the celebration invitation even matching the floral color palette.
Her creation for my In-Laws was the perfect sweet ending to a special event and they were thrilled and so appreciative of Lauren’s talent. The Country Club Event Coordinator was so impressed with Wingate’s Cake Design that she discussed preferred vendor status options. Of the 100s of weddings the Country Club has hosted, the Event Coordinator commented that she had never witnessed a wedding cake baker deliver a cake in an insulated cooled cake box, which Lauren does to ensure the cake arrives in perfect condition at the venue – that is the level of quality that Lauren provides.
This 60th Wedding Anniversary was more of a wedding than just a simple party. Thanks to Wingate’s Cake Design, my MiL had the “wedding cake” of her dreams fulfilling her secret desire to feel like a “bride” for a day. Bottom line, wedding celebrations are memorable, and a delicious beautiful custom cake adds to those memories. Knowing your wedding cake vision can be executed superbly should be one less concern on your wedding day. IMHO, Wingate’s Cake Design is one of the exceptional wedding cake vendors in the MA/RI area and you will be a very happy and satisfied customer when you engage her service – just like us! -

Wingate Cake Design Exceeded Expectations
Lauren Wingate at Wingate Cake Design was an absolute delight to work with during our cake tasting. From the very beginning, it was evident that she had a genuine passion for creating delectable cakes. Each sample she presented was a mouthwatering treat, making it almost impossible to settle on just one.
After much consideration, we settled on the rose champagne flavored cake with vanilla buttercream. Paired with a semi-naked design, it perfectly complemented our rustic-themed event. The cake was delivered with flair, arriving in a secure vault to ensure it stayed cool and intact.
And oh, what a hit it was! The cake received rave reviews from all our guests. Its incredible moisture and flavor surpassed even the initial tasting. Remarkably, the cake remained moist even after four days, a testament to its quality ingredients and expert craftsmanship.
In fact, we had plenty left to go around, so we decided to preserve the top tier for later enjoyment. From start to finish, the entire process with Wingate Cake Design was seamless, making them a wonderful vendor to work with. We highly recommend their services to anyone in need of a delectable and stunning cake for their special occasion. -

Best Wedding Cake EVER!
Lauren made my wedding cake and dessert table for my 2020 covid wedding but we had been going to her bakery for years prior. We were in lockdown and picked up our desserts and cake for our private zoom ceremony and then drove around to our local friends and family to bring them treats!
It was the only thing we were able to do to celebrate and it’s something I hold near and dear to my heart.
Lauren and her staff are the epitome of professionalism and artistry. They go out of their way for their clients and always have! All our messages / calls are always answered promptly and everything is always DELICIOUS!
We have now been using Wingate for all our celebration cakes and treats for around 5 years now and we couldn’t imagine using someone else!! -

Wingate Cake Designs
Lauren/Winegate Cake Design did a fantastic job on our special day. The tasting session was fun and we found it difficult to choose what flavor we wanted because they were all so good. The theme of our wedding was “Phantom of the Opera” which meant the cake needed a mask and of course red roses. Lauren was eager to accommodate us with the design of the cake and the flavor combinations. We wanted the cake to look like red velvet but with almond flavor instead of chocolate. We couldn’t be more delighted with the way the cake turned out. It was just the way we imagined. The cake and the macaroon tower were both a hit with everyone! Lauren was a pleasure to work with and we would certainly recommend her to anyone who needs cake or pastries for their event. -

Best Wedding Cake Ever!
Hiring Wingates to create our wedding cake was one of the best decisions I made!! Lauren was so easy and fun to work with! She created the most gorgeous custom pressed flower cake. Excellent cake and friendly staff!
Our wedding cake experience was lovely - the initial tasting was very easy to navigate - simple choices (but plenty of them!), within a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. We wanted a carrot cake - it was my husband's parents' wedding cake - and we got the best carrot cake ever! Seriously delicious. The staff was knowledgeable and kind, and although pricy, it was definitely worth it. Would recommend to anyone. -

We LOVED our wedding cake and cupcakes- the presentation was beautiful and the flavors were incredible- we still talk about how delicious every flavor was and the guests loved them too. Especially loved the vanilla cupcakes with lemon curd, and the chocolate cupcakes with raspberry frosting. -

Amazing Cake and Desert Table 7/24/2021
Lauren and her team did a fabulous job. She was so accommodating and supportive when we had to reschedule our 2020 date. I am incredibly indecisive and Lauren was so great working through several design changes with us! She provided a cake made for 100 guest plus a full desert table (rose all day cupcakes, cinnamon buns, mini eclairs, lemon squares and strawberry shortcake shooters)...our guests devoured every piece!! It was all truly delicious, we still have family and friends talking about how amazing the deserts where! Side note: my husband and I love french macrons and over the last two years have become frequent guests on the weekends to pick up a dozen or two. My mother ordered macrons for our wedding shower as guest gifts and once again everyone raved about how good they were! Hands down one of the easiest decisions we made when planning our wedding! Thank you Lauren for everything we will be in soon!!! -

Lauren was the best! I booked with her before my wedding in 2020 but had to reschedule due to COVID and she was more than amazing and rescheduled me right away for my June 2021 wedding. I told her what I was looking for and what colors where in my wedding party and the cake came out amazing. I originally had a cake for 150 people but that was reduced to 90 people and she accommodated with no problem. I wish I could put a picture up of my cake because it was so beautiful. Also every guest loved the cake! -

I’m so insanely impressed and grateful and just over the moon for the cake Lauren (the owner of Wingate's cakes) made for us. It was literally my dream wedding cake! Back when we first got engaged I made a list of my top 3 wedding priorities and cake was one of them. And we went on a very serious hunt tasting cakes because I was adamant it needed to be both beautiful AND delicious (many wedding cakes I’ve have in the past we’re pretty but tasted like nothing). After looking at and speaking to about 15 different bakeries in the area, we felt so confident when we chose Lauren for our wedding. I am so amazed how she was able to hear hear all my crazy ideas and piece them together to literally make my dream wedding cake. On our wedding day, I cried when I finally saw it. It was literally exactly what I’ve always envisioned AND it tasted AMAZING!!!! We will 100% be visiting Newport again in the future for anniversaries, vacation, etc and will definitely be coming to her again for mini versions of our same cake. Every single guest at our wedding raved about our cake, both the style and the flavor. People were standing around it taking photos all night. I’m still in awe. We ate so much leftover cake the days after our wedding. I can’t say enough good things and I am so grateful to have found Lauren!!! The color of our cake matched our theme perfectly, the detail was so on point with our style and vibe, the flowers were so dreamy and vibrant, and the height was AMAZING in creating such a grand presentation for a cake that only needed to feed a relatively small crowd. People were saying it didn’t even look real, it was so perfect. Thank you times 10000000 Lauren. Our cake was such a huge part of my wedding vision and she executed it flawlessly and I can’t thank her enough!!!!! -

Wedding-perfect cakes and cupcakes!
Lauren was so easy to work with! She understood all the different custom aspects that I wanted for our day! She did a beautiful cutting cake for us, a grooms cake my husband had been dreaming about for years and 150 cupcakes that were 3 different flavors! Everything was absolutely delicious and the cupcakes were half gone before dinner even started! We have gotten so many compliments on the cupcakes and grooms cake from our guests. I just wish I lived closer so that I could buy from Wingate Cakes more! -

We had no idea where to start in looking for a cake for our wedding and based on web reviews we tried and went with Wingate's and are SO happy we did! Lauren was so great to work with and easy to get in contact with. We were able to taste multiple things at our tasting which made things easier. We went with just a small cake for ourselves to cut, which was the vanilla bean cappuccino, and very delicious. We then did the dessert bar for our guests so they could walk around with desserts or bring them home. Our guests loved all of the options (cookies, mini strawberry cupcakes and cheesecakes) and they were all gone by the end of the night! We definitely recommend working with Lauren for your wedding sweets! -

The cake flavors we got were Honey Lavender, Lemon Raspberry, and Coconut Passionfruit. They were moist and interesting flavors- we loved it! Thanks, Lauren!

I do not even like cake, and I couldn't believe how good it was and knew I did not want to go anywhere else for our cake. My fiance and I saw a photo of a chandelier cake online and knew that was what we wanted. We contacted Wingate's and asked her if it was something she could do. She said she never made a hanging cake before but did not even hesitate for a second to take on the challenge. When we went in for our tasting, she surprised us with a model chandelier cake so we could get the idea of what it would look like. Lauren was amazing to work with! We went over the ideas we had of what we wanted the cake to look like, and Lauren exceeded our expectations. I was in love with what she did! She took our crazy vision and made it a reality!! And the best part was it tasted as good as it looked!! All of our family and friends were commenting that it was one of the best cakes they ever had. Lauren is incredibly talented and her cakes are gorgeous! I will definitely be contacting her for events in the future and we would highly recommend Lauren at Wingate's Cakes to anyone getting married or looking for a specialty cake. -

My husband and I purchased a custom wedding cake from Wingate's for our August 2022 wedding in Newport. We had a lovely time at our cake tasting (reserve in advance!) and in our consultation with Lauren on the cake. We decided on a three tier cake, with a false bottom tier, for our 36 person wedding. We did one tier in Lemon and the other in Almond, with raspberry jam and vanilla buttercream as fillings. We had sugar flowers for decoration, but otherwise kept the design simple. The cake was beautiful and tasted great! We had a lovely experience through the whole thing, including them allowing pickup on Sunday morning for our sunset ceremony. I highly recommend their service; everything was very smooth and we felt supported all along the way. -

Rose all day
We were so pleased with choosing Wingates for our cake! All of our guests raved about how good our wedding cake was. It truly was the best cake I have ever tasted. Love my wedding cake!
Lauren from Wingate's cake design is so talented at making wedding cakes. My fiance and I were firstly attracted by her hanging cake design and also the passion fruit flavor. I are not a big fan of sweetness and rich cream, so originally I was a little worried about using buttercream since most of the buttercream cakes I had were too sweet for me. But Lauren's buttercream tastes so good and not too sweet at all.
I ended up with a three tier hanging cake. For the design, I wanted a constellation drawing on the middle layer to match my blue color wedding palette. Lauren suggested to add some golden brush strokes and some golden beads to complete the look. And it turned out stunning! Got so many compliments on it.
The three tier cake was too big for 50 guests, so we saved the smallest tier and plan to eat it on our anniversary. -

We chose a 3 tiered wedding cake for our wedding day. The flavors were Rose All Day and Red Velvet with cannoli cream. We had so many compliments about the Rose All Day flavor. It was delicious! We loved the way our cake looked. Lauren was easy to work with as well. We overestimated the amount of cake we needed.. we had 3 tiers for 130 people, which was way too much cake, the number of slices was estimated at 128. We ended up taking the top tier, uncut, with us home, and had lots of cake leftover at the reception. We did feel Wingate's pricing was higher than other vendors we looked at, however the cake was delicious! -

She was so helpful with making the cake we wanted work with our budget and let us tweak the flavor combinations which are all wonderful. My husband and I really enjoyed the private cake tasting and chose the coconut cake with a passion fruit filing. It was incredible! We also ordered passion fruit macarons to go alongside our cake and they were an absolute dream. Our guests have continuously commented on how amazing the cake was. We cannot wait for our 1 year anniversary to enjoy it all over again! Nothing short of delighted!
