Wedding cancelled - no refund - avoid
Me and my fiancé booked Willow Woods Park, the area for our wedding in April 2020. Due to the lockdown in California it had to be cancelled, we lost our hard saved deposit as Willow Woods refused to refund it, citing it was ‘non-refundable’ – I suggested they subtract any costs incurred from the $1000 deposit and refund the remainder, fair in the circumstances. The wedding had only been arranged 8 weeks previously and my fiancé had visited the venue once for 30 minutes to pay the deposit and have a quick look around. I live in England and my fiancé in Los Angeles so I had not visited, just exchanged around 10 general emails. They used this 30 minute trip and the emails to justify keeping all the deposit saying they charged $200 an hour for ‘wedding consultation’. Nowhere had it been discussed that I wanted ‘Wedding Consultation’ or that I was happy to pay $200 an hour for it – only a few general emails were ever exchanged.
Be wary when using this company, they will treat you very unfairly if anything goes wrong. I have given up trying to get the money back so now we have had to save up again! Thankfully we have managed to save up enough for a small affair in Las Vegas this Christmas – no thanks to the greedy Willow Woods Park! AVOID!!!!!!!
