Best Decision for Wedding!

Whitney photographed our wedding back in December and she did an amazing job! We are from New Jersey but got married in Portland, Maine and she made the whole process so easy. We weren't able to make it to Maine until a few days before the wedding and even then it felt so natural and stress free. She's very thoughtful when it comes to taking the photos, who should be in them, and any sensitive issues she should avoid. Because we live so far away a lot of the wedding was kind of winged and she helped make the process run smoothly and on time. We cannot thank her enough for everything she did and how amazing the photos came out! The photos were available in a timely manner. She even made sure we had some ready early so we could use them for the small party we had with friends and extended family in New Jersey. You can tell she truly loves what she does and keeps her clients in mind when planning, taking, and editing the photos! I hate posed or fake candids and she made sure we had a ton of actual candid photos as well as the requested family portraits. I highly recommend her! Whitney will work with you from the moment you call to inquire about her services until you have all your wedding photos in your hand (or on your computer)! Going with Whitney was one of the best decisions we made when it came to the wedding!

Simply the best

I have been meaning to write this review for a long time. My husband and I got married on House Island in Portland back in August 2017. Whit was the photographer for our engagement photos and photos the night before the wedding and day of the wedding. I cannot say enough good things about her. She blended seamlessly into our wedding and made the day even more special. She put up with a crazy bunch of guests, our goofy and huge Great Dane (who was in engagement photos and all wedding events), and made everyone feel great while capturing the most special moments. She was truly a joy to work with — a rare talent and wonderful person. She made the process easy even though we were from out of town (NY/CT). I’m not only thrilled she was our photographer, I am glad she shared our wedding with us. She is simply the best.

Working with Whit was truly one of the greatest joys of wedding planning. I was in love with her work and the incredible joy and authentic nature captured by her photojournalistic style, but it was our first phone conversation that made me certain I wanted to work with Whit. She is so kind and effervescent, and I loved her passion for capturing weddings. My husband is not a fan of having his photo taken, but after seeing our engagement photos he was completely sold on Whit. She is so easy to work with, she brings out these very natural yet stunningly beautiful shots all while making you so comfortable and evoking laughter in every moment. During the wedding she was unobtrusive and hardworking, capturing moments I would have never believed. What she delivered to us was well beyond the numbers and the quality of photos we ever expected. Her work is of the highest quality, her editing keeps the image true to its nature while making everything feel truly alive, and she is so responsive and delightful to work with. I would recommend her without hesitation to anyone looking for a wedding photographer so that you can truly relive your day though film. Her work will bring you back to the joy of you and your guests immediately, and she captures so much beyond what you are able to experience yourself. One of our best decisions in the planning process was working with Whit.

Whitney is the absolute best. As soon as you meet her you will feel like she is your best friend - she is professional, warm and shows excitement for you on your big day and leading up to it. During the wedding planning process, we were thinking we would forgo the expense of a wedding photographer and use the money elsewhere. My mother encouraged us to really consider a professional photographer, and man, are we glad we did. Whit met us in our hometown on her way home from another shoot, and after two hours of chatting and laughing over coffee, we knew she would be a perfect fit for shooting our wedding. Whit's background in photojournalism comes through in her work ethic and the style of her photography. She made us feel at ease in front of the camera, and had excellent tools to help us plan which moments and shots we wanted captured. The results were beyond our wildest dreams. From the classic portraits to the impromptu candids, she captured our friends and family in their element. My husband and I are simply glowing in the photos - she took all of our emotions that day and managed to bottle them up in those pictures. They are going to be treasured for years and years to come. Whit is an amazing person and a crazy talented photographer. I couldn't recommend her more highly.

We wanted a photographer who would take natural, heartfelt pictures of our family (two parents and six-month-old baby). Lots of other photographers take highly staged pictures of babies: sitting in flowerpots, holding Christmas lights, wearing fairy wings, etc. That style is cute but it didn't really appeal to us. We wanted photos of our family life as we experience it, just with better light and more flattering angles! Whitney took fantastic images of the three of us, both posed and candid. She did a great job capturing the emotions we shared together and best of all, we look like ourselves- the best versions of ourselves. We love the photos and we'll be hiring Whitney to take more pictures of our family as our daughter grows.

Whit did a phenomenal job photographing our wedding, so it made perfect sense to reach out to her now that we are a family of three! She did our Christmas photos a couple of weeks ago and they came out beautifully!

I had a vision for what I wanted and she created it! Whit captured our baby's personality so perfectly. It is so important to feel comfortable with a photographer, especially when you have a little one involved, and we could not feel more at ease with Whit. We look forward to her documenting our little one through the years!

Whit did a FANTASTIC job with our engagement photos--she went above and beyond talking us through the process, making us feel comfortable during the shoot, and most importantly taking some incredible photos. Whit has an expert eye for finding beauty and unique perspectives that created exceptional backgrounds and really captured our love. She truly enjoys what she does--the time flew by and our photo session continued far beyond the scheduled time! We would use Whit again in a heartbeat--can't wait to work with her again for our wedding!

Whitney Fox is so incredibly talented. I can't say enough about Whitney to praise her properly. She is professional and patient (it ain't easy to corral flower girls, ring bearers and a whole family!). I was so happy with her the whole day of shooting and knew I'd have amazing pictures. When I did got the pictures from her they were miles beyond what I expected. She has such a creative eye and somehow was able to capture pictures of people that looked arranged but were completely in the moment. Her candid shots were so sweet. The wedding album we received brought us right back to that day because of the emotion she was able to catch. Our family said the same and a bridesmaid and myself even shared a few tears over how beautiful they were. Not only does she deliver what every bride dreams of for a wedding album, she is one of the best people you could ever meet. She was like a member of the wedding party. She fit right in which made everything so natural. Anyone who books with Whitney J. Fox is a lucky lucky person! I highly suggest her.

Whitney photographed our wedding and two summers later, a session with our one year old son. On both occasions she was professional, enjoyable to work with, blended seamlessly into our day and of course, we loved the photos. Whitney took gorgeous, natural photos of our family when our daughter was a newborn. She took a combination of candid photos of us with our daughter, feeding her, changing her, taking a bath, etc. and several posed portraits in a beautiful scenic location. She did a great job capturing us at a special time in our lives. We love her work!

My husband, family and I cannot say enough about working with Whit! She is, without question, an extremely talented, practiced and invested individual. On top of talent, she is professional, enthusiastic, genuine and kind. We treasure the photos from our wedding and engagement session, and appreciate the unique eye she brought to capturing the special moments, small touches and emotion of the occasion. From the first day I met Whitney I knew that we would get along great, she was so sweet and most importantly understood what I was looking for when it came to my wedding photos. Now I have to admit, I can be a little of a control freak. But for every email I sent Whitney responded to me very quickly and made me feel like I wasn't crazy or alone. We scheduled a call to chat about the details of my day and ended up talking for almost 2 hours. The only way I can describe it is that, she just gets it!

When the day came I felt so comfortable with her, as if we knew each other forever. I trusted her judgement and wasn't worrying about all of the things that were going through my head leading up to the wedding that week. It was a huge relief.

"Spectacular" doesn't even begin to describe how great my photos came out. People are still telling me how amazing they are and I couldn't be happier. Her attention to detail is spot on which is making my choice of a select few for my album a very difficult task. I will never be able to thank her enough for capturing my day so perfectly.

Among the photographers we considered for our wedding, Whitney stood out because of her professionalism, personality, and photojournalism expertise. My husband and I could not be happier with how our photos turned out, nor with the experiences we had with Whit before, during, and after our wedding in Maine. Planning a long distance wedding is never simple, and from the start, Whit was accessible, friendly, and incredibly organized. During the morning preparation and throughout the wedding, she was completely unobtrusive; most of the time, we were unaware of her presence. Yet she was also able, seamlessly and efficiently, to direct some of the more formal portraits that we had requested. It rained throughout our wedding day, and I initially worried about how this would affect our photos, yet all of them (indoor and outdoor) still came out vibrant, beautiful, and natural looking. Our final portfolio has a great balance of shots that highlight all of the emotions, energy, and events of the day!

We knew that when the wedding was over, the photos would be the only legacy. We made photography a priority and we're so glad we did. Whitney took amazing photos of our wedding. They were natural and filled with emotion, and she doesn't rely on Photoshop to get the images perfect- she relies on her skills, training, and experience as a professional photographer. Whitney has a serious background in photojournalism, and this really sets her apart from the hordes of "mom with a camera" photographers who have almost no wedding or event experience. We felt strongly enough about this that when we decided to hold our wedding in Ohio, we flew Whitney out from Maine for the weekend. We'll be doing the same when our newborn arrives this spring.

Whitney is incredible! She is wonderful to work with. She is responsive, helpful, and takes fantastic photos. We did our engagement photos with Whitney and had a blast. We were even able to include our dog in the engagement photo session. Whitney has a great sense of humor and she is fun to work with. We would strongly recommend Whitney Fox!

Photography was really important to me for our wedding - and we got what we paid for with Whitney and then some and I would highly recommend her to anyone! She was professional, but also very laid back and relaxed. Ahead of time she was responsive and organized, making sure she knew all of the shots we wanted and giving suggestions based on her vast experience. We also wanted to get some first look shots around Portland before the wedding and she was so receptive to this and helpful as we made our way around the Old Port. She also has a wonderful eye - one of my favorite pictures ended up being a spontaneous shot incorporating a spray painted LOVE sign that she noticed as we were going around. Neither my husband nor I are super comfortable being the center of attention and Whitney did her best to put us both at ease throughout the day. Everything about the experience was spot on and we are so happy she was there to capture our wedding - and in such a beautiful way!

Excellent photos from an excellent person!

Whitney was excellent to work with and did a fantastic job on our photos. She was organized, thorough, and responsive. She thought through every detail and logistic and helped us plan the flow of events. We were thrilled with the final product - she truly captured the spirit of the event and documented all the important highlights. Not to mention she is very friendly and our guests loved having her around!

Whitney was one of our favorite wedding "personalities" (you'll know what we mean as you start to amass your vendor list--it takes all kinds!) But Whitney was totally chill, warm, personal and accommodating -- a true pleasure to be around. She went out of her way to pick me up at the airport when I was in Portland for other reasons, just to take me to coffee and get to know me before the wedding. The photos turned out beautifully even though we planned for a beautiful fall day and got a rainy cold one!
