Stunning venue and amazing staff!!!
We got married on October 21, 2022 in the Raisin River Room and I can't RAVE enough how they gave us the wedding of our dreams! Wendy, Andrea, and the entire staff were professional and very attentive to every detail. Every single guest told us the food was the best they've ever had at a wedding! Wendy really knows what she is doing and provides you with many timelines and planning tools months before the big day. Obviously last minute changes happen and Wendy was more than accommodating. I can't say enough how amazing and beautiful our wedding was thanks to Wendy and the entire staff! The grounds are beautiful and has so many options for photos, the room was very comfortable and not too crowded for our 100 guests. We loved telling our guests about the Weller’s History and how it used to be owned by Henry Ford. The location was super easy to find for guests and even months later our guests are still talking about beautiful our wedding was. They also have a “Hospitality House” 1/2 mile from the venue for the bridal party to get ready in, it also has a yard that is gorgeous for pictures. I took my “first look” photos with my dad there. I absolutely recommend Weller's!-

Wellers Raisin River Room was beautiful! It was everything we could ever imagine when it came down to choosing it upon viewing/booking to the actual wedding day. For what you get at wellers and the cost, it really is a great value! Everyone said it was beautiful and the food was awesome! My only complaints were their Hospitality house had a bunch of wasps on the porch so you couldn’t use that area for pictures before the ceremony and I’m glad noone was allergic to them or that could have been disastrous. Other than that the experience was great! -

Wellers made planning and executing our out-of-town wedding a smooth experience. The venue is great - it's full of character and needs very little decoration. Katie, Andrea, and the rest of the team are a joy to work with, and the food is delicious. We highly recommend them if you're looking for a experienced team and a venue with great atmosphere. -

Wellers is beautiful. We got married on the East Ceremony Grounds and used the Raisin River Room. Seriously the people here are so kind and it is legitimately magical. We did our meetings with Katie who is fantastic, knowledgeable, and fun. She let us know ahead of time she would be at a wedding herself the night of our wedding and Andrea would be working with us. Andrea is also wonderful and checked on myself and my husband all night to make sure we had everything we needed. The food and fancy desserts were delicious and everyone I spoke with was so happy with the delicious food. Beyond that, I was brought to tears by how accommodating they were for a special needs family member. They made my day perfect and I am so happy with my experience with Wellers.-

There are not enough words to explain how much I loved Weller's for our wedding. We had booked our reception in the Carriage House and every part of our space was absolutely gorgeous. My guests were constantly telling me how beautiful the venue was. It has such a unique look and the landscaping was great, you really do not need to worry about spending too much on added decor. Plus, the space makes for fantastic wedding photos! Although some of the rentals can really add up in price, after seeing everything together it was worth every penny. The food was amazing as well (especially the prime rib and mashed potatoes), I wish I had time to eat more of it! I really want to thank Wendy and Andrea as well as all of the waitstaff (Feng, Monica, and Robert) and bartenders (Johnny and Kelie) for taking care of everything and relieving any stress we may have had, you all were great! Everything went perfect in my eyes. -

I cannot express how much I loved this venue. From the very beginning, Wendy was great to work with. She met with us several times before we booked to answer all of our questions. She made us very comfortable about choosing this venue for our big day. This venue is stunning. We had out ceremony on site outside and I could not have imagined anything so beautiful. We had out reception in the Carriage House and it is a gorgeous building. On the day of, Andrea was wonderful. Anything I or any vendor needed she was on it. Our wedding day went so smoothly it was surreal. We were severed appetizers first from the wait staff and had a plate of them waiting for us when we sat down. After speeches, Andrea came up, congratulated us and stated “we would like to serve you your first meal as a married couple"! Let me say the food is AMAZING! Everyone is still talking about how wonderful dinner was. The bartenders were great and one even found me on the dance floor to give me a drink. I was blown away by the service of everyone. I would recommend this venue to anyone looking to a stunning venue with great service and amazing food! Truly an amazing gem! -

Honestly PERFECT! Our wedding at Wellers was beyond amazing. Andrea and Wendy were wonderful from start to finish. Yes, they have some firm processes, but they are experienced and they have the guidelines in place to ensure your day goes off without a hitch. We loved every second of our ceremony and reception. Guest could not stop raving about the venue. It is so unique and everything is so naturally beautiful! -

Our guests couldn't stop raving about Wellers, saying the site was beautiful and had lots of character(guests loved the antiques and stone and brick throughout the rooms). We got ready at the hospitality house, had our ceremony in the gardens and the reception in the Raisin River room. We made several changes 2 weeks before the wedding and Wendy was amazing. She was responsive and always nice when dealing with my panicked emails or calls. The food couldn't have been better, we chose the prime rib and Michigan cherry chicken. The prime rib was tender and both dishes were full of flavor. My husband and I appreciated that the staff saved a plate of the appetizers for us once we returned from pictures. We had children in attendance who wouldn't eat the amazing food, so pizza was ordered and the staff brought it out on plates for them once it was delivered, I wouldn't have changed a thing and highly recommend Wellers to anyone looking for a venue. -

If your looking for a perfect place that has an amazing outdoor ceremony as well as indoor outdoor option for the reception, Wellers is for you. Such a beautiful place, I received so many comments on how wonderful the venue was and how the staff really were attentive to the needs of the guests as well as the bride and groom. This place is a gem hidden among many different venues in the Ann Arbor area. Nicole and Andreea were excellent and helpful, they were wonderful to work with!!! -

I've worked with a wedding videographer and dj for over 3 years, and at a print shop doing wedding related printing and engraving for 7 years. If you want to hear "this is the most beautiful wedding I've ever been to" from 75% of your guests, book this place! I was married at Weller's Carriage House in mid-September of 2011. We used the stunning outdoor grounds for the ceremony, dined on one of the best meals I've ever tasted in the carriage house, and danced the night away under the gazebo. Weller's had 3 weddings booked that evening. If they hadn't told me in advance, I wouldn't have known. Even at their maximum capacity, Weller's handled everything flawlessly.
Weller's staff was wonderfully efficient, polite and respectful of the fact that this is the most important day of your life (to date), and they are dedicated to making it the best experience it can possibly be. They handled every hiccup (including a medical emergency) seamlessly and with care. They are wedding professionals, and they are exceptional at what they do. Whatever location you choose, it is a shell--you fill it with your personal touches, your beautiful family, and your joy. You couldn't start with a better location than Weller's. The food was exquisite and there was plenty of it; everyone ate their fill.
Weller's gave me the freedom to have a personalized DIY wedding and the result looked like a million bucks. Unbelievable photos. Happy guests. Cost-wise, it's more than renting your local lodge banquet room. But don't underestimate the value of the gardens and the banquet facilities: additional outdoor ceremony decorations, excluding bridal party flowers, but including ceremony flowers and vase--$65; my family and I designed our own reception table decorations for under $500 for 25+ tables. Knowing that the food and ambiance would be phenomenal (and they were!), I could limit the costs of the other big ticket items--alcohol, dress, flowers, photography, dj, etc.--without feeling like I was compromising my guests' experience of the event.
Thank you Andrea, Nicole and all of the other dedicated Weller's staff and contracted crew for the best day of our lives! -

We were not in the carriage house, but we were in the raisin river room. My husband had remembered Wellers from a wedding he had gone to a long time ago. When we were having difficulty finding a place within our budget that was not a big banquet hall we discovered Wellers. They provide outdoor ceremony grounds but are very flexible about moving it indoors if the weather doesn't cooperate. The grounds are exquisite and are kept up well. The raisin river room is like going back in time. It has a wonderful historic feel to it. We had many compliments from friends and family how beautiful it was. They cater their own food which was amazing! We also got many compliments on the food. It's all buffett and there is no food tasting before. You do have to purchase your own bar service but you save a lot of money as you only get what you really need. Plus if there is any leftovers you're stocked. We loved the extra touch of the servers taking me and my husband through the buffett line first, they even plated our meal so that we didn't have to, such an unexpected wonderful touch of service. -

Weller\'s Carriage House was the venue for my October 10, 2010 wedding and reception. The staff was knowledgable and friendly before, during, and after the wedding. Every aspect ran smoothly and having a venue that provided the space (which was gorgeous and required only centerpieces to complete the existing decorations) and the food made for a much more relaxed day. I highly recommend Weller\'s to any couple looking to have their wedding/reception in Michigan! -

I've lived in southeastern Michigan nearly all my life and had never heard of Wellers until three years ago when my cousin had his reception there. Initially my husband and I debated having our wedding outside at my parents' house since we really wanted to be outdoors, but we decided to go check out Wellers with my family. We all fell in love and decided it was the perfect place to have our ceremony and reception. The grounds are beautiful and the reception rooms are elegant and charming without being too "stuffy" which perfectly suited our style.
We planned to have our reception in the Raisin Rivier Room, but after our RSVPs were coming in higher than expected, we moved it to the Carriage House. Wellers was very flexible and accommodating about this change. On the day of the event, our pictures after the ceremony were done quicker than expected, and Wellers was able to move up our time line so that our guests weren't sitting around waiting for dinner for 35 minutes.
The food was great. I almost wish they still had a restaurant here because we would certainly go back for more! Guests raved about the food for weeks after the wedding when we spoke to them. The food here is really the best in the area I have had at a reception venue.
The only "complaint" we had was that on the day of our wedding, it was 85 degrees, and the cement benches on the West Grounds were very hot from the sun beaming on them all day. Everyone survived, but guests did joke their butts were burned from the benches!
Some things to note about this venue: you have to purchase the alcohol and liquor - this was very easy, we called their alcohol vendor and did everything over the phone about five days before the wedding. The savings is significant compared to what other venues charge you per guest for an open bar; another point is Wellers only offers buffet for dinner. Ideally I would like family style but the tables are small and probably can't accommodate all the different dishes for food.
Wellers is definitely a hidden gem in the area and provides a refreshing alternative to places like St. Johns. If you want the ability for your guests go be able to go outside, this is the place to be! -

I loved the setting of Wellers. We had a Full Moon Wedding in the West Grounds, our reception was in the Carriage House, and dancing in the Pavillion. The grounds and buildings are very unique and a beautiful place to get married! Many of our guests said it was the most beautiful wedding they have ever been to. Several guest were even overheard saying that when they get married, that they are getting married at Weller's, or that they should have gotten married at Weller's. The food was unbelieveable, and the wait staff we very professional. If you're looking for a unique, romantic place to get married and/or have your reception, Wellers is a great choice. -

My husband and I got married on the East Ceremony grounds and had our reception in the Raisin River room. We wanted to get married at a venue that was rustic/romantic/vintage and Wellers met all those requirements and much more - the place is truly beautiful. The Raisin River room is awesome; very little decorating was needed which was nice. We received so many compliments on how unique and cool the room and the grounds were. I overhead several of our guests comment on how they have never been to a wedding as beautiful as ours. We ended up having 95 guests attend our wedding and I was nervous we were going to be packed like sardines in the room -- this thankfully was not the case; we all fit well in the room and everyone was comfortable & there was plenty of space for everything and everyone. The room itself has a lot of history (e.g. the old time clock for one) and guests loved these touches. As for the waitstaff and bartenders I cannot say enough. These people truly were amazing and made our wedding day that much more special. I liked that they called my husband and myself by our names (and actually remembered our names) and how courteous they were to ourselves and guests. They really treated us well. My mom and I met with Andreea to go over our wedding worksheet (which is conveniently located online). She was so great to work with; Andreea is patient, kind, and honest and a great listener - everything I expected and more. Plus, she was one of our waitstaff at our reception and was so great. She was prompt to answer every question we had and I was really happy to have her as she gave us suggestions which I fully trusted because she has been doing this for a long time. Now for the food...it was DELICIOUS. Everything from the appetizers, to the dinner, and to Jet's pizza for our late night snack was awesome. Our guests loved the food and kept telling us this!!! My husband and I cleaned our plates (the chicken was my absolute favorite). -

Wendy & Andrea were great to work with, while a little particular at times and occasionally felt a little cold/harsh during the planning process they were fabulous on the day of our wedding and when communicating through email. There are a lot of "little" things that are not included in the base package price that up the cost of the venue when you get down to the nitty gritty but I would not have wanted to have my wedding anywhere else.
Our guests RAVED about the Carriage house and the character of the venue. Being able to have dinner and the dancing in two different locations along with the extra areas around the gazebo for people to sit and relax outside of the music was wonderful. The gardens and grounds at Wellers are top notch and unbeatable around the area.
While I worried about not getting to taste the appetizers & food that we ordered, everything was AMAZING and our friends & family could not believe that we had Prime Rib served to our guests. It was phenomenal! -

Wellers is one of the most beautiful wedding venues that I have ever seen. The entire grounds as well as the Carriage House were perfect. The staff were excellent, and helped us to feel that everything was under control. Wellers is an exceptional value for the money, with excellent food. I was wary at first that they didn't offer a taste-test, but realized once I tasted the food at the wedding that their reputation speaks for itself. Everything was wonderful! My only complaint is that their timeline is so rigid that it causes a little stress to follow it exactly. Just make sure to have someone who is good at executing events on time to be your "Day of Coordinator" to help make sure that you get all of your pictures in before dinner. -

I can't tell you how many guests have told me (during and after the wedding) how beautiful the grounds were, how friendly and accommodating the staff was, and most importantly, how delicious the food was.
I had a wonderful experience working with Nicole, Wendy, and Andrea (as did my parents who worked with them as well). Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better venue! -

The venue was gorgeous, the food was excellent, the bartender was great--- it was beautiful. We did find there were "hidden costs" that we were not told about upfront. Also, a large number of flowers were stolen from the site prior to our wedding and nothing was done to replenish the site. -

Amazing venue, incredible food!!
We LOVED our May wedding at Weller's Carriage House. Guests could not stop complimenting the venue, and are still raving about how it was the best wedding food they ever had. Weller's is not very flexible, but that's because they're a well-oiled machine and know what works best for their venue. The staff was excellent and we felt like royalty all night!-

We absolutely loved our venue. It had the comfortable and relaxed feel we were hoping for, so our guests were able to mingle and enjoy the event rather than sit in a cold distant corner like some venues. We kept the guest count small, at about 75, so they fit perfectly. We received so many compliments about the venue and the food, I can honestly say it played a major role in the beauty of the night. -

Great place to get married if you want a classic, natural feel. We got married under the gazebo (really large pavilion) in later October and since we had the west ceremony grounds, we used the rest of the park-like setting for our first look and family photos. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. The reception was a step away from the gazebo in the carriage house. Everything inside was beautiful, too!
It was a little difficult with planning with the vendor but they made up with it in the flexibility and the staff that were on hand during the event.
All the vendors we were impressed with the site, a few of our families said it was the best wedding they have been too, and it was just a great place to have our wedding at.
The food was amazing - don't be scared off by them not offering tastings. We also did the appetizers that were passed around by gloved servers on metal trays - beautiful and not overly done. -

We had our ceremony at the East Ceremony Grounds and the reception was held in the Raisin River Room. Everything went perfectly, the staff working the day of our wedding did a great job. The owner has a bit of an attitude, but overall she is fairly easy to work with. She's the reason for 4 stars on professionalism & flexibility. Everyone else was perfect. Be sure to buy more liquor than the alcohol vendor recommends. Our bartender served more than the 1oz shot per drink that the alcohol vendor based his calculations on. -

The food was outstanding and the location was beautiful. We loved being able to have an outdoor ceremony at the same location as our reception. The service was great, they made sure we were well taken care of during dinner and afterwards. My only complaint would be about the bartenders, which are an outside service hired by Wellers. We purchased the wine/alcohol that was served by the bartenders at the reception. They opened every single bottle of wine during the evening and ended up not serving from 10 bottles! I felt like this was a waste of money, as we couldn't save the leftover wine for future use. -

We had our wedding this September, and it was amazing!! We were a little skeptical about the fact that there isn't a food tasting, but I kid you not it is totally worth it. We bought one of the cheaper dinner menus, which was chicken and prime rib and I can't count how many people told us the food was the best they've ever had at a wedding! We had our ceremony outside and everything was beautiful. We loved that we got the entire patio for our guests to hang out at during our wedding, and the scenery at Wellers is so beautiful we just took pictures there. My girls and I got ready at the hospitality house and it was perfect. A cute little old house with plenty of room for all of us to get ready and relax beforehand. Although communication was a little hard to match up (but seems very common) everything turned out well. I love that they have all the sheets on their website: the checklists, diagrams, recommended services, timeline, etc. We used a lot of the vendors on their recommended list. All in all we received so many compliments about how beautiful our wedding was and the venue. Andrea came up to me before our meal and said "we would like to serve you your first meal as a married couple" and I seriously got butterflies! The wait staff that night was so helpful and courteous. There are a lot of little rules here and there, but in the end totally understandable. It was definitely worth every penny! -

This is a very unique and beautiful venue with a lot of history, which is why I decided to go with them. I am, overall, very happy with my decision. They include a lot of services in the price, which lessens the need to hire other people, and the price, for what you get, is very reasonable. It's not cheap, but we were able to make it work on our relatively small budget. Everyone thought the food was excellent, and I heard from many people that it was one of the nicest weddings they've been to. I would definitely recommend that anyone looking for something a little different check them out.
The only had a few issues with them. First, we ordered hot german pretzels to be brought our as our late night snack (instead of pizza). They were forgotten about and were not brought out until 15 minutes before the party was over and they were cold. Second, it seemed like when we needed an answer to any of our questions we received it promptly, but the next person we would talk to would give us a totally different answer, leaving us confused. Everyone over there just needs to get on the same page.
My only other comment (not really a complaint) is that they really need a better rain plan for the east ceremony grounds. The only thing they can do is to move the ceremony into the same room that you have your reception in, which seems a little cheesy given the amount of money that you're spending. Of course, we had a beautiful day and therefore had a beautiful ceremony on their outdoor grounds, which are GORGEOUS. It's just something to keep in mind. -

It is a beautiful venue. The staff at Wellers help a lot with the pre-planning, but there is no one there to help with the actual wedding on the day of- just the servers for dinner so be sure to get everything organized at the rehearsal. The food was great. Overall I had a good experience. -

Wellers was exactly what we were looking for in a venue. They aren't very flexible and I wish that they made their pricing more inclusive of everything rather than nickle and diming you. However, it was a truly beautiful event, the food was fabulous, and the service was exceptional. I would highly recommend. -

Wellers was perfect! Our wedding couldn't have gone any better. The grounds were beautiful, the outdoor lighting was beautiful and the food was amazing! Our wedding was in October so we prepared ourselves for it to be chilly but the service people there said, "don't worry about it, the canvas sides on the gazebo keep it plenty warm in there, heaters aren't necessary" So we took their word for it. It was the day of rehearsal -40 degrees!- and there were heaters sitting outside for a wedding the day before ours. I quickly ran upstairs and asked the staff about the heaters only to hear "You didn't rent any heaters?? Your guests are going to freeze!!" I was not happy. It seems silly now to not have ordered heaters but I was taking their word for it. Luckily my trusty groom called the rental company and they left the heaters there for us to use. Thank god for those heaters or the party would have been a bust! So ladies- Order heaters!
Oh-And I only had one tiny complaint from a guest that one of the staff members was rude. Everyone else at our wedding kept complementing us saying how wonderful the staff members were.
Overall-Greatest night of my life! Wish we could do it again!

Beautiful and affordable venue!
We had our wedding in the Carriage House and it was beautiful! Wendy and her staff were responsive and so easy to work with. We planned our wedding in a very short period of time (about 5 months), and the worksheets that Wellers requires you to do kept me focused, didn't even need to use a planning book. I was a little hesitant about the food since there's no tasting offered, but rest assured, the food was delicious - received a lot of compliments regarding it! Venue is gorgeous, staff is great, and it's affordable - see for yourself on their website, they give you all the info for you to make a decision (pricing, dates that are still available, rental information, etc.). Thanks again Wellers! -

We were married on the East Grounds and our Reception was in the River Raisin room on 8/12/2017. We both agreed it was a perfect venue for us when we went to their open house. It really is such a beautiful venue. Such great character and not like the average banquet hall. They do not offer food tastings which I was a little worried over but truly all of our worries went away. The food was AMAZING!!! All of our meetings seems to be a little disorganized and had us worried but our wedding day and reception were flawless on their end. I would recommend them, but don't get discouraged when you have your meetings.... it will be the best day ever! -

We loved our wedding in the Raisin River Room! Everything was beautiful! Of course we decorated and added our own special touches but it was easy to do with what we were already working with. I definitely think that we achieved the Vintage Romantic Elegance that we were looking for.
We had two very minor hick-ups that the staff fixed quickly for us. One thing that I heard a lot of my guests saying was how good the food was, and it was :-)
Everything was wonderful and we could not have been any happier.
That being said, I was told by a friend who had previously used Wellers for her wedding, not to expect much contact until our 90 day meeting. I thought that was silly, we are their customers, but it did prove to be true. I only had a few questions up front about some decorating decisions that I was trying to make and my e-mail was ignored.
We had our 90 day meeting with Andrea and she was great, she answered all the questions that we had that day.
Comunicating with Wendy Weller over e-mail was slightly frustrating but we eventually got the answers that we needed.
Our final meeting was with Wendy and it went well. She was nice but did get a little snippy during the meeting.
One suggestion that I can make to them is to update their website. Had I known about the lanterns that they offered to rent I would not have ended up purchasing the same exact lanterns, lol.
Overall we had a great experience and if we had to go back and do it all over again we would still go with Wellers. -

We had our wedding in the Raisin River Room. The wedding day itself was awesome and went without a hitch. However, planning a wedding there was way more stressful than it should have been.
So first, the positives:
The venue itself is utterly unique—which is why we fell in love with it in the first place. The Raisin River Room, especially, has a vintage / industrial flair, almost steampunk, really. It's probably one of the few truly distinctive venues for small to mid-sized weddings in the area.
The food, despite not having a tasting, was really delicious. Fine-dining level fare, so rest assured on that.
We rented the lower floor of their Hospitality House before the wedding. It's not on-site, but it's really close, and you get a photogenic house full of cute antiques and a landscaped garden as a setting for "getting ready" photographs.
Finally, they're wedding professions—it's literally all they do, so they know the drill. You can expect your wedding day to run smoothly, like a well-oiled machine.
Now, my biggest caveat is that they have a ton of rules. I mean, like more rules than any venue my planner and florist had ever seen. And it would be one thing to have a rulebook given to you outright, but it seems like we were being given new restrictions at every turn. Granted, we ended up convincing them to bend a couple of their rules or finding ways around them, but it just made the planning process way more stressful. If you're dreaming of a cute indie-type wedding filled with Pinterest details, you should probably check your expectations or find another venue. -

Weller's was the perfect location for our wedding. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. It was the perfect garden wedding I imagined! The staff are great as well, but there were a few hiccups. Our final meeting was scheduled at 9 am and we waited until 9:30 before leaving without anyone showing up. I had to call them to reschedule. Also, I was not aware of this the day of the wedding, but when my family members were setting up a few things before the ceremony there were few staff members who were not very helpful. Overall, Weller's was perfect. The food is great and they certainly know what they're doing. I just hoped the service would be a little better. -

Beautiful location, food was outstanding. They were a little crazy about the schedule of events...bread service at 6:05, salad at 6:07...but it really was nice to have everything that organized. The bartender that they had for our wedding a little rude. When my 90 tr old grandmother asked for a glass of water, the bartender told her to go help herself with a pitcher at the tables. Some of my guests recognized her from other events and said she was the same way. It surprises me that a well known place like Wellers, with outstanding service and reputation would allow someone like that to work there.javascript:submitForm(); -

I loved the setting of Wellers. It's a historic Henry Ford property. The grounds and buildings are very unique and a beautiful place to get married! I loved everything about Wellers except we had a difficult time working with our contact person at Wellers (the owner Wendy Weller was always very pleasant and I think the person we worked with is no longer there). The food was incredible and really everything else about the place was fabulous. If you're looking for a unique, romantic dreamy place to get married and/or have your reception, Wellers is a great choice. Our wedding was in the West Grounds and our reception in the Carriage House. -

Wellers in Saline was a perfect venue choice for a couple on a budget, but wasn't exactly conductive to a lot of DIY. Nicole and Wendy were responsive for the most part although the hours of the venue can be tough for someone working or not local. They don't respond when they aren't in the office either.
We had our ceremony outside, used the Carriage House for dinner and the gazebo for dancing. No issues with the AC at all in the Carriage House as some previous posts wrote; that seems like it was a fluke. It was always cool and refreshing inside.
The food you can't taste, which is annoying when you are paying that much for an event. If you want to pay for beyond the minimum buffet choice I'm sure you'd want to taste the options before you upgrade. If you are going with the steak and chicken option for weekend night (party of 175+) it was off the charts good. I've attended a half of dozen weddings for the last few years and I can honestly say it was by far the best wedding meal I've ever had. As the bride and groom we cleaned our plates and then talked to people :) We got a ton of compliments which made us feel great about spending our money with Wellers.
The staff: Wendy or Nicole were never seen from again the day of the event, which no one tells you at all through the meetings. However, that's not a negative at all!!! The wait staff and bartenders are off the charts wonderful. They catered to our guests and us like we were the most important people in the world and we couldn't have been more thrilled with that level of service we received.
Downside, if you are doing a lot of DIY and don't have vendors to set up for you then you won't be able to pull it off with this venue unless you get lucky and there isn't a wedding the night before... and you push back on them a lot to set up the day before.
All in all pretty venue to dance outdoors, amazing staff for the night of, amazing food, challenging management team but ok overall for the price -

Beautiful Venue, Mess of Management/Catering
When my husband and I got engaged in March of 2018, we were on the hunt for an indoor/outdoor venue with gardens and able to host approximately 175 people. I had been referred to Weller's through the Mid-Michigan Bride-to-Bride page on Facebook. We instantly fell in love with the venue and booked our wedding when we went to visit. They are very old school with payment; check or money order only, which was fine, however, other vendors we hired were much easier to pay.
During our planning with Weller's, we dealt with 3 different coordinators, each of which gave us very different answers on how things are expected to go. The first coordinator/manager, Katie, we booked our date with was not available for several weeks we were attempting to contact her. Finally, we were assigned another coordinator/manager, Andrea, and things seemed to pick up communication and concerns and plans were being addressed. We met with her during our 90-day meeting for plans regarding our day and payment. During our final meeting, with had a funeral that was putting us behind, and we called to let the coordinator/know. We then found out we were not meeting with Andrea but with the owner, Wendy Weller, who was very rude to us when we said that we may need to reschedule or push back our meeting; note this was 3-4 hours prior to our meeting. She had told us that she was unable to accommodate us any other time, so we had to leave the funeral during the burial to make it to the meeting. At our meeting, we felt as though our wedding was insignificant and Wendy lacked any knowledge of our plans we had confirmed with Andrea. She was training another employee, so it seemed, who also appeared clueless. My father, stepmother, now husband, MOH, and I all felt very unsure of how things were to be but being we were a week away from the big day we proceeded.
Fast forward to our big day, my bridesmaids and I arrived to meet my husband and his groomsmen with our photographer to get our first look and couples photos, as well as the bridal party and family photos. While driving up to the carriage house, we noted the other bridal party and their photographer on the Carriage House grounds. During our meetings, we were told that the property side we pay for is the one we use, and we are not to go across the grounds to interrupt the other event. When addressing this to the coordinator/manager, they did escort them off the property, but it put us behind for photos as well as our timeline for the rest of the evening. We requested our ceremony fee back and have the other wedding event pay it due to the fact that not only did it hinder our ability to take photos essential to our day but interrupt our privacy on our day. Weller’s responded with that we had stated it was “ok” for them to utilize the property by my husband, however, the man doesn’t know how to lie and never was asked to use the grounds. Therefore, they wouldn’t be able to require payment from them.
During dinner, we arrived 10 minutes after agreed upon a time due to timing pushed back from our ceremony from having it start late from the other wedding party. Our food was cold and the hollandaise on the chicken was firm and the prime rib was overcooked dry. My stepmother had mentioned this to the catering staff, where they were overheard by guests arguing to the kitchen staff while trying to “resolve” the situation. The resolution of offering to microwave our dinners was insulting as we paid close to $17k for 175 meals (after taxes and tip). The second dishes were sent out to “refresh” the food options for the guests, and those too are cold. This was extremely disappointing, and we were given an extremely small credit in regard to this from the owner after explaining all issues.
Regarding making plans and reservations with the venue, you must use their catering where there is no sample tasting. This doesn’t give any opportunity to explore better options and I wished we were able to do so. The bartenders were instructed to restrict several guests from drinking due to addictions, and while we provided names and pictures of these guests, they were still able to be served.
All-in-all, our wedding was fabulous, and we had a great time using the space provided. I would highly recommend using a day of coordinator and set requirements for expectations regarding food. -

The venue is breath-taking! There are a number of things they won't or don't tell you, though, that are important. For example, on an 85 degree day an outdoor wedding sitting on the concrete benches at the pergola will actually burn you through your clothes and burn your skin. The longer you sit there, the hotter they get. That is something we could have been warned about. There is no tasting for the food. Personally, I think that a testing should be held for those who have made a deposit. They could do it a few times/year. And speaking of the food, they make the call for people to come back to the buffet when the last of the guests make their initial trip. Those who did go back found only a tiny amount of food available, and others were not able to get seconds. That just seems wrong to me. They are completely inflexible when you make a request, and if you want to do something like remove 2 tables that are not the ones they want you to remove, they make you explain yourself. For that kind of money, I don't think I should have to explain why I want the tables removed that I chose. I get the whole 'historic property' thing, but an attitude that leans more towards customer service and pleasing those paying the bill would make me feel more generous in my rating of this venue. The bartender Mary Beth was fabulous! As to 'would I recommend to a friend' that depends on what they were looking for. If they don't want to have things their own way, you bet! But if they have specific ideas of how they want things, then no. -

There is so much that I want to say about this vendor but the space is limited in this review box. I will say as a bride trying to plan a wedding here was quite difficult. Lots of rules, lots of fees, and lots of rude responses. Payments were strange, deposit made and refunded two weeks after the event rather then applied to your final bill. Sales manager, Nicole, is rude and not personable at all. We got our alcohol from their supplier but could not purchase half gallons of liquor due to Wendy, the owner of Weller's, not wanting their contracted bartenders to have to pour from them. This only made us spend more money then we had to on liquor, and if the bartenders want the money from working the event, that they should be willing to pour what ever is provided for them to pour. Fees were ridiculous. Especially the $450 fee to change the table linens from their awful dingy floral table skirts to white. Should have been an option, but it was pretty much a given way for them to make an extra $450 with out having to do anything. There were fees for everything, plugging in something, cutting the cake, running late for dinner, or late at the end of the night. You name it, there was a fee. There were no food tasting. This was a huge gamble on our part, but we lucked out. The food was pretty good. My husband said his prime rib lacked flavor. There is no day of or rehearsal coordinator to get or keep the wedding day rolling. Our ceremony got started by me yelling at people out of the bathroom door to go sit down so we could get started which was stressful. Also rehearsals are not scheduled but you are given a 3 hour block of time to rehearse the block is shared with all parties from that weekend. Valet was rude and would not allow our DJ into the parking lot to unload, and would not let a van for our handicapped guest to park. I will say that Andrea, our banquet manager was OUTSTANDING. Couldn't have asked for better service from her and her crew. She really made our night.

The venue is so beautiful and the food was amazing. However, that said, the owners are hard to work with and the nickel and dimeing for so many things got very old and expensive. For being in the wedding hosting business for years they were surprisingly unhelpful with questions and concerns. I would not recommend for future weddings. -

Unprofessional Business Owner
We booked Weller’s for our June 2020 wedding based on proximity of the location to where we live, relatively affordable pricing, and the beautiful ceremony grounds. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Weller’s could not hold our wedding as contracted. Wendy Weller offered us two choices - postpone to 2021, or postpone to later in 2020 (with the exception that if we would need to postpone a second time, we would lose half of all funds paid to her thus far, which was many thousands of dollars). We ultimately decided that we still wanted to hold an intimate ceremony in June, and chose not to postpone with Weller’s. Our contract with Weller’s explicitly stated that if the wedding were unable to be held due to circumstances beyond either party’s control, we would be entitled to a full refund. Upon contacting Wendy, she told us she could refund us everything except our security deposit ($2,500). After explaining to her that her contract stated that we were entitled to a full refund, and several additional uncomfortable phone calls, she told us she could give us back half of our security deposit back and absolutely no more than that, completely disregarding her own contract. After receiving legal advice from student legal services at the University of Michigan that we should receive a full refund based on the language of the contract, Wendy still insisted she was entitled to half of the security deposit. She had no investment in us up until that point, other than a single meeting for planning, which we offered to reimburse her for. She was overall rude and unprofessional during an extremely stressful time for my wife and me. Overall, prior to the pandemic, our experience with Weller’s was unorganized and chaotic - Wendy is extremely hard to reach, and rarely answers her phone, even during business hours. That all being said, the carriage house is a beautiful venue, and we have heard stellar reviews about the food. We would have loved to have had our wedding here, but felt the need to tell about our experience with the owner for future couples. I would not recommend this venue to anyone unless they fall in love with the ceremony grounds or are adamant about having their wedding in Saline. -
