Highly recommend Vows by Vanessa!
I am so grateful that my husband, Zach, and I chose Vanessa as our officiant! She did such a fantastic job with our handfasting ceremony and really took the time to get to know what we wanted out of our day. I am also so appreciative that when the weather changed our outdoor wedding plans, I was able to depend on Vanessa to make sure everything went smoothly and she made me feel at ease! Not only will she show up with everything you could possibly need in case of emergency, but she also has such a positive and captivating energy that radiated throughout the room. -

Working with Vanessa truly was a dream come true! We knew when we found her to officiate our September 2025 wedding, we were in for a treat. The #1 piece of feedback we received about our big day was how wonderful the ceremony was. It was so unique to us, our story and written with so much heart. From the moment we booked Vanessa, we knew we were in good hands. She sent multiple forms for us to fill out and even had us send a draft of our vows to her. She goes above and beyond to make her couples feel prepared, secure and that the vibes are high before the aisle!
Vanessa, you truly captured the love that not only went into our big day, but the love we’ve shared together for the last 8 years of our relationship. We can’t thank you enough for being a loving, calm and supportive presence in our day and will NEVER stop recommending you to everyone we know!

I'm so sorry for the delay with getting a review written for you. I cannot thank you enough for the beautiful ceremony that you performed for us. And before that, your availability to chat with us over zoom and the phone is something we truly appreciated with being out of state and whatnot. Every question was answered, and every step was explained. And, any of my questions you were there answering so quickly!! With how busy you must be, we truly appreciate the hard work you put in, even into our small wedding. And everywhere we went, we heard glowing words of you! I could not agree more! For any couples, especially out of state couples, have no doubt, Vanessa is an AMAZING officiant. I'd also like to note that we requested a non-religious ceremony, and Vanessa did a wonderful job with it and never made us feel uncomfortable with our decision. -

Exceptional Celebrant!
With only 24 hours before our day, the Blue Ridge Parkway was entirely closed. Vanessa teamed up with our planner, Renee, to brainstorm and save the moment. It turned out to be everything we could hope for! From the time she put in to get to know us, to making us laugh and cry happy tears all in one moment with the beautifully written ceremony, we’re so grateful! -

As most of you can probably guess from my title, we were extremely grateful to have Vanessa as our officiant. I happened to meet her at a bridal expo two months before my wedding & she made EVERY effort to work out times/dates so she could officiate our wedding (even with a packed schedule!!!) She went above and beyond to ensure our ceremony was tailored specifically to us & that we were aware and comfortable every step of the way. I cannot recommend her enough. She is a lovely, caring, and professional officiant with a touch of soul & personality. We were honored to have Vanessa as apart of our big day. -

Vanessa was honestly a dream come true when it came time for our wedding. We eloped & didn’t really share our details or plans with family and friends. We wanted our day to be about us. Vanessa held our hand through the whole process, checked in on us, prepped us with examples to write our vows, reviewed the process of an actual wedding ceremony with us. Vanessa made it all happen seamlessly for us even while we were 12 hours away. She even helped me get into my dress & helped my spouse with his detail pieces. Highly recommend! -

Vow Renewal Perfection
What can I say that won’t sound cheesy!!?
Vanessa gave away a vow renewal at her Ribbon Cutting and it actually was an event we could attend so I jokingly put our name in because our five year wedding anniversary was coming up and then WE WON!
Our first elopement was us & our kiddos/parents and we were in the middle of some heavy things in life, I knew I wanted to renew more privately this time to renew our relationship.
Vanessa helped us do just that 🫶🏻 she put together the perfect intimate ceremony for us and really made it feel so ❤️ -

Vanessa is hands down the best. From our first phone call, she made me feel at ease about the whole process. She sent us some vow examples and was always quick to respond to my questions. She ensured the readings for the day were exactly what my husband and I wanted. Vanessa was at the ceremony site before we even arrived. She speaks so well and made us feel comfortable throughout the ceremony. We are lucky to have found her. -

Vanessa did a beautiful job of conducting our wedding ceremony. She made it personable and so memorable for my husband and I. We ran into some hiccups with obtaining our marriage license due to my husbands career and Vanessa went out of her way to help us and found a way for us to get our marriage license in time for our wedding. We loved working with Vanessa and having her be part of our special day! We first connected with Vanessa when I wanted a family friend to perform our wedding ceremony. She had many resources and steps to help us ensure the ceremony checked all the boxes and was legal. When it ended up not working out for our friend to perform the ceremony, Vanessa agreed to drive from Lynchburg to Richmond to perform the ceremony for us, helping us incorporate our family friend as a guest speaker! She was kind, well spoken, and a joy to be around. She was so quick to respond and answer all of my (many) questions during the wedding planning process. We appreciated all she did to help our ceremony flow well and to make our day special to us. -

Admittedly, Vanessa was an officiant recommended to us by our original officiant who had to cancel a week before our wedding. Despite the circumstances, Vanessa stepped up to the plate with great energy and passion. She was incredibly reassuring, supportive, and calming throughout the entire process. With only a week to get to know us, she treated us like old friends. She assertively took charge of both the rehearsal and wedding ceremony and everyone followed her lead. Even before the ceremony, she came to both my spouse and me to ask if we were okay and if we needed anything. She took pictures with us and even got a tattoo from our tattoo artist that was offering Friday-the-13th style tattoos during the reception. With something that could have been a disaster, she gave great guidance and saved the day! We would highly recommend Vanessa to any couple wanting an officiant that is open, accommodating, supportive, and kind. -

We were referred to Vanessa after the original person we were referred to was unable. From the first conversation we had we loved her. She loves what she does and the shows. It also meant a lot to us, we both come from different religions backgrounds and wanted to find someone who valued being an officiant. She helped us with our marriage license and was able to come to our rehearsal dinner, which we are very happy we had her there to help us figure our procession line up. I would highly recommend her to any future brides and grooms! -

Fantastic experience
Vanessa is absolutely wonderful! Despite already being booked with two weddings on the day we wanted, she was so kind to fit us in. Vanessa asked us questions about our relationship to give us a beautiful tailor-made ceremony. After the ceremony, Vanessa left us a copy of the script to keep as a memory of our special day. Perfect Fit
I thought I would be able to have my wedding officiate come from my church. Cut to me frantically searching fo someone reasonable a week before the wedding. I am very ill so I needed the wedding to last less than 30 minutes. She did that. I needed the service to honor my Catholic parents, my Christian friends, and my husband’s Muslim Faith. She did that. So reasonable compared to what we found while we were searching. So kind. So considerate. She was perfect. -

Having that same best friend OFFICIATE your wedding and write the most beautiful ceremony that any couple could ask for. The amazing thing about Reverend Vanessa Vaz isn't that she she wrote a thoughtful and totally personalized ceremony for her best friend, it's that even if she had just met us, she would have taken the time to get to know us so she could deliver the same level of intimacy and personalization as If she had known us for years. Vanessa there isn't anyone else I would have wanted to marry us that day and I'm so grateful that you were able to turn our love, emotion, and life into words. The memory of that day is something that I know will last us all the days of our life together.
