    Absolutely incredible

Joanna and team at New Kent Winery made our day absolute perfection and made the planning process as easy as it could be. You can tell they know what they’re doing and genuinely enjoy it. From day-of coordination services to planning meetings and all the communications in between, the team was amazing. Worth it! Plus the venue is gorgeous, especially in fall!

A Top Notch Wedding Venue in Stunning New Kent County

The New Kent Winery Vineyard Estate is absolutely stunning. It created the most picturesque setting for our November wedding. The open fields tied in our love for the outdoors and the beautiful barns allowed for a cozy evening of dining and dancing. The staff went above and beyond to help in any way they could. They even knew the perfect way to safety pin my dress when I busted a clasp! A truly professional team. We couldn’t recommend the venue enough!

    Wedding of our dreams!

It has taken me a while to write this review, because there really aren't enough words to describe how phenomenal the venue, owners, & staff are. My husband and I got married on October 18, 2020. We were originally scheduled for April 18th, 2020. Due to Covid-19, we had to postpone our wedding. Since we were right at the start when things his and among the first weddings to be affected by this, we were nervous & anxious, really not knowing what to do. Leah & JoAnna worked diligently with me to come up with the plan that was the best for us & what we wanted. It was definitely worth the wait.. Our day in October was absolutely perfect. It was everything we hoped & dreamed it would be. Amanda was our day of coordinator & was absolutely incredible for our rehearsal & wedding day! We met Amanda when we came to tour the venue, & she will always hold a special place in our hearts! She is so kind & attentive! Leah was also phenomenal! We worked with Leah while Amanda was out on maternity leave & she was sweet & super responsive. Walking up to the venue on our wedding day, my eyes filled up with tears at how elated I was. The venue looked exactly the way I envisioned it for so long. Everything was exactly in the spots I wanted them. We were overjoyed with how well everything turned out. We spent the night at the bed & breakfast on the property our wedding night. Joe & JoAnna were absolutely incredible & made us feel so welcome. We were treated with a cheese tray & wine in our room- which was perfect following our wedding. They had all the amenities & we were just so happy to be there. We received breakfast the next morning, which JoAnna graciously helped us decide on before our stay. Wow- was the food good! We stayed a bit that morning and talked to both Joe & JoAnna about how wonderful our day was & life in general. They really made us feel welcome in there home, and we couldn't have asked for better. Overall, we had the most perfect wedding and it was all because of The Vineyard Estate, Amanda, Leah, JoAnna, Joe & the rest of our our vendors! We cannot thank you enough for all the work each of you put in to make our day so special. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We look forwards to many more date nights, and anniversaries at the winery! We absolute love The Vineyard Estate & NKW and cannot recommend them enough!!!!

    Excellent to work with!

As a fellow wedding vendor, we loved working with Vineyard Estate at New Kent Winery on two weddings in 2020 and one in 2019. Leah & Amanda kept us in the know throughout the wedding day and gave us the flexibility we needed to capture all the images that were important to our couples while still keeping us on track. Brides: having a wedding vendor team that works well together is so important to having your wedding day run smoothly. We always love working with the ladies at Vineyard Estate at NK Winery and hope to work with them again in 2021!

The Vintager Inn was the perfect venue for our fairy tale weekend! Tracy, the Event Coordinator/Manager of the Vintager Inn, was phenomenal to work with. Any questions I had throughout the process were answered almost instantly, and she was more than willing to accommodate my schedule when trying to plan meeting times. The venue is absolutely stunning, the vendors were absolutely wonderful to work with, and the Inn Keeper at the bed and breakfast was kind and courteous.

THANK YOU ALL FOR AN AMAZING WEEKEND!!!

Only one word for our experience with the Vintager Inn for our wedding... WOW!!!!! We were so happy with Tracey and the venue! She made the experience a breeze... between our first tour... being quick to respond to emails/calls... answering ALL questions... right up through the big day! The Vintager Inn sells itself as a wedding venue, but the customer service makes it even better. It was perfect for our wedding, and our guests are still talking about the beautiful grounds, barns, and use of the fire pit! Thank you Vintager Inn for making our big day so special!

I don't think I can put into words how amazing The Vintager Inn truly is! My husband and I got married here on October 17, 2015 and we couldn't have asked for anything more beautiful. All of our guests were raving at how beautiful the ceremony, the barn, and the carriage house were. It's the perfect place to get married if you're looking for something rustic. It was perfect to go along with our fall/rustic themed wedding! Tracy at The Vintager is absolutely WONDERFUL. She truly cares about each of her brides and she will go above and beyond to help you with anything you need. We had a minor incident with our flowers the day of our wedding and I didn't even stress about it because I knew Tracy would take care of it...and she did! Everything turned out absolutely beautiful and I am so happy we chose to get married at The Vintager. The beautiful memories we had on our special day will certainly last a lifetime! :)

I had my wedding there on October 10, 2015. I cannot say enough about this place! First off, I want to start off with Tracy, the GM of the Vintager, how amazing she is. She truly cares about each bride there and gives you the time of day every day. Especially on my wedding day, I hired a wedding coordinator but Tracy was there to help extra even though she was not getting paid. She pretty much was like having a second wedding coordinator, even on bustling my dress she came over. Just there for me the entire time and I cannot thank her enough. Now for the actual place, I had so many people come up to me and say how beautiful the Vintager is. I do not like the white pergola because the fountain is in the middle of the pictures, but the owner put up a brown/wooden pergola on the side of the house which has the rolling hills in the background, it was stunning. I love this place so much because you have the vintage barn theme, rolling his surrounded by woods, and then a small vineyard. Even deer came out while we were taking pictures. The best part about the reception room is that you do not have those tables that are in the back corner and you put the "least important" guests at. This reception room has the head table on one end, then the dance floor on the other end, making it so that the tables are in the middle of it all. All tables are equally important and are near the main events. It was a little chilly on my wedding day, but the dance floor heated up so they were able to open the big barn doors making more inside/outside. They also kept the bonfire going all night and we had smores' out there for people to cook. Another great feature about the Vintager is that they decorate the outside and take very good care of the gardens. As a fall wedding, they had pumpkins, mums, hay, everything fall all around the building and on the tables outside. Like I said, I cannot say enough about this place and I could keep going on. I absolutely recommend this place to everyone!

Tracy at the Vintager Inn was amazing! She warmly welcomed us on our first visit and sent us off with a hug on our last. She is the most hospitable person there is, really making us feel as though everything was going to be taken care of and we had nothing to worry about- she was right. The ceremony spot was beautiful, the barns are gorgeous and we had the best night of our lives. With 105 people we had plenty of room to dance and sit comfortably. It was an amazing night and gorgeous venue for pictures!

Andrea was absolutely fantastic with everything that we needed for the wedding! Even went I felt like I was bugging her to death, she always politely and promptly answered any questions that I had! She was very flexible on my ideas for everything from my bridal portraits to the ceremony and reception! The venue was magical and my day was awesome!

My daughter's wedding was March 22, 2015. Her dream was to have an outdoor wedding in a rural setting with the reception in a beautifully decorated barn! She selected The Vintager Inn in New Kent, VA. I'll keep this short: PERFECTION! Every detail was attended to and carried out BEYOND our expectations! Not only was my daughter completely in love with The Vintager Inn and her ceremony, but the guests were happy, impressed and well cared for. I cannot thank Tracy Gilland, Denise Oyler-Jenson, and the owner Ken Fisher enough for their flexibility and expertise!

We had a wonderful experience at the Vintager Inn! We used one of the Inn's wedding packages and everything was included. Choosing the package really made our wedding planning so much easier. All of the vendors that we worked with were incredible. They contacted us quickly and were responsive to any of our questions. The staff at the Vintager was very helpful and courteous. We felt like they really cared about our wedding day. We would highly recommend using the Vintager Inn and all of the vendors working with the Inn for a smooth, beautiful wedding day!

You can't get any better than The Vintager Inn for your special day! It was an amazing experience from day 1 of signing the contract, to the day after the wedding. In fact, Kathryn even held some of our stuff from the wedding until a family member could come get them from her. I was extremely pleased with Kathryn, her staff, and Ken the owner. Our day was perfect (as far as we know!) and it couldn't have been that way without all of them!

New Kent Winery hosted my wedding this fall. It was absolutely perfect. Andrea and Kevin were so wonderful on the day of moving furniture and heaters all over the place to make the space into what I had envisioned and to keep my guests warm on an unseasonably cold evening. Andrea was a total joy to work with leading up to the wedding and was always there to calm my fears and answer my questions. Although you can't start your event until later if you want to rent the tasting room, and winery guests will be milling around while you are getting ready to start, they were lovely and were all complimenting me in my dress and it was fun! Overall, New Kent Winery went above and beyond and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day! We are so happy and the wine is amazing of course! Everyone was complimenting the venue and the wine and I had the BEST time! Highly recommend New Kent Winery for events and especially WEDDINGS. The new owners are AWESOME and we already have plans to come back every year for our anniversary and a bottle of wine!

The Vintager Inn provides a beautiful backdrop for a wedding ceremony and reception site. Ken Fisher, owner, was such a pleasure to work with. He was so responsive and considerate of our requests. Unfortunately, an unfavorable weather forecast caused the outdoor ceremony to be held within the reception site in the barn, however, the barn provided such a romantic atmosphere. The Carriage House provided a charming space for the buffet set-up, allowing the barn to be used exclusively for dancing, dining and visiting. The weather did allow for many pictures on the grounds prior to the ceremony. It was all very beautiful.
The only items I wished were different are the following:
It would be more desirable to have separate bathroom facilities for males and females, and a separate bathroom attached to the bridal room.
The venue has plenty of beautiful tables and chiavari chairs, but be prepared to rent all of the dishes, glassware, serviceware, and linens .
I would highly recommend this amazing wedding venue.

The Vintager Inn was by far a dream come true! When we first saw the Inn, it was under construction. We spoke with Ken and he told us his vision. We knew right then and there that was the place we wanted to get married. Ken was absolutely amazing with helping out with making our dream come! He was so helpful leading up to the wedding and when the wedding day came Ken was running around along side with us making sure everything was put together perfectly. We had the plan of having the wedding outside even with clouds in the sky. 30mins before it was time to walk down the isle, we had to quickly move the wedding into the barn. Even though that was not my dream... it still turned out BETTER than I could have ever imagined. So, here we are 3 months later and everyone STILL tells us how amazing the venue was. We were truly blessed to have found such an amazing place!!!!!!

My husband and I had booked the space over a year and half before our wedding. We fell in love with the place as soon as we saw it and knew it would be the best place for our wedding. We had the whole venue from Friday morning until Sunday morning. The Vintager Inn makes a wonderful breakfast and Ken will do anything for you! Ken made the Vintager Inn was a great spot for our rustic wedding. The grounds are beautiful and he will bend over backwards to meet your needs. He is the sweetest man and runs his business perfectly! I am very thankful we were able to work with his staff and him to make my wedding day special. I can't wait to go back and stay at the inn again for our anniversary. :)

The owners and staff at the Vintager Inn added so much to our daughters wedding and worked hard to provide a perfect venue for the wedding. To illustrate how great they are to work with on the DAY OF THE WEDDING I decided to move our daughters wedding outdoors. Not only did they accommodate our request Mr. Fisher rearranged every chair to provide better visibility for each guest while I {the brides father} dressed. The barn, the house, the service building and the grounds were immaculate. They were so helpful without being intrusive and the entire event was spectacular.

We could not have asked for a more perfect location for our wedding. Ken and all of his staff were amazing, incredibly accommodating and truly bent over backwards to make everything perfect. The scenery is gorgeous, the amenities are everything you could ever want- beautiful bathrooms just beside the Grande Barrel Hall and Carriage House and best of all, at the end of the night you can just walk up the hill and go to sleep in your luxurious king sized bed in the house! We had our whole family stay in the house and loved waking up and having a delicious homemade breakfast with our loved ones. We had a very hard time leaving on Sunday and still wish we could do it all over again! We received so many compliments on the venue from our guests; most who had never heard or it. This is by far the best place for a country chic wedding in the Richmond area!

I cannot say enough to describe the beautiful wedding experience we had at The Vintager Inn! Ken was very responsive in the momths leading up to the wedding, and friendly and helpful during the two visits we made to the venue prior to the wedding. Having the B&B for the whole weekend of the wedding, and getting that extra intimate time with our families was priceless! Ken makes a delicious breakfast every morning for the guests who are staying there. And all of the special little details and obvious hard work Ken has put in to decorating the bed and breakfast, not to mention the barns, is evident! The rustic, vintage charm is exactly what I envisioned for our wedding day. I knew as soon as I visited the first time that this was going to be the perfect place for our dream wedding, and in the end it far exceeded our expectations!
We had about 90 guests, and there was more then enough space for everyone. We even utalized the second barn as our cocktail hour/buffet. Although we didn't necessarily "need" the extra space, I just felt it would have been such a waste not to use it since it was so beautifully decorated. In the same building are the air condtioned bride and groom dressing rooms and restroom. There is also a kitchen area, which was extremely useful to our caterers! The grounds are also well-maintained with lovely gardens throughout.
Like I said, there aren't words to describe what a perfect and memorable experience we had at The Vintager Inn! Every little detail of the weekend was so special! We are hoping to return often!

The Vintager Inn is an absolutely AMAZING location! My fiancé and i visited the venue and ended up moving our wedding date 4 months just so we could get married at this location. The word "breath-taking" does not even begin to discribe this location! Our guests LOVED the site and the owner so incredibly accommodating! The bed and breakfast was a great spot for the girls to get ready and for friends to stay! They made us an incredible breakfast the next morning and the staff pulled out all the stops to make us feel welcome! The barns were PERFECT for rustic cocktail hour and reception spot! Both are beautifully decorated with antiques and made of beautiful repurposed wood! I would recommend this spot to ANYONE!!! We will definitely be back!

I absolutely loved my wedding at The Vintager Inn. Ken worked with me so that I was able to visit multiple times before the wedding as well as through e-mail, as I planning from Georgia for part of the time. The barn and grounds were beautiful, our pictures look amazing. Our stay that night was priceless, and we've already considered another stay when we're back in the area. The inside of the Inn is beautiful and the bed in our room was the comfiest, softest bed I've ever slept in. Our breakfast was served in the dining room the next morning; it was the perfect way to wake up the morning after our wedding.

We could not have chosen a better venue for our wedding! Thank you so much for giving us a weekend we will never forget. I will sing The Vintager Inn's praises to anyone looking for a venue in that area!

The Vintager Inn was only open a few months when my husband and I were married there, but the level of expertise of the staff was first rate. The grounds were landscaped beautifully, which made for a great backdrop for both our ceremony and photos. Myself and some of my family who travled to attend the wedding were guests for the weekend at the Inn and we loved the decor and ambiance of the house. Top notch establishment along with top notch service provided by the Inn keeper Ken Fisher. Would most certainly stay there again and recommend it to anyone who asked.

I have nothing but great things to say about the New Kent Winery. Mike worked really hard to make sure I was able to make all of my wishes at my wedding come true. They were extremely flexible and accommodating and even handled my bridal party when they got a little too drunk. The value for the winery is amazing and they provide all of the delicious wine. The building is made from reclaimed materials and is absolutely stunning. Definitely check out this venue if you are looking in the Central Virginia area.

My Husband and I fell in love with the Vintager Inn for its charm and character. Our planning experience was great. Tracy and Ken were both helpful and accommodating. We made multiple trips to the venue for planning purposes and they were always available by phone or email for questions. We stayed at the B&B with our parents the night before and the night of the wedding and everything was perfect. The breakfast was amazing, The Inn keeper was so kind and helpful. We enjoyed having the extra time together with our family and the ease and convenience of being on site. The Barn and Carriage house were in perfect condition. Although it rained, our day was absolutely perfect. Plan B with the ceremony in the barn instead of outside was just as beautiful. There were no issues at all on our wedding day in regards to the venue. Tracy also did both me and my bridesmaids makeup and it was STUNNING. She stayed on site for the entire ceremony and helped with the setup and breakdown. Everything about the day (other than the weather) was absolutely perfect and flawless. I highly recommend the Vintager for a ceremony and reception site.

The Vintager is one of the most beautiful places I visited! I am so excited to have my wedding there and you barely need decorations because the place is perfect as is! I love the fact they have the small vineyard! Highly recommended this place and offers a great package deal!

The wedding venue is absolutely amazing and so far, I have had a wonderful experience from the staff; however, the Inn was recently bought by another family and is now under new management and this management did not think to call those with weddings and let them know. This was extremely frustrating to my groom and I.

I used this winery for my ceremony and reception. You do not get a day of coordinator, Andrea Kephart actually is the coordinator there and she is really good. I had a coordinator and she was great.

The lighting is super dark in the tasting room so provide lighting or have your DJ bring lighting.

The service from the bartenders etc were amazing!

I would definitely recommend this place as a venue.

Everyone was very prompt with responding.

Only reason I did not give a full 5 stars is because there was cross communication between the event coordinator and my mother in law. Which I did not want. When I confronted the vineyard about it they responded professionally.

Loved having my wedding at the Vineyard Estate. The property is beautiful and it is the PERFECT location if you are looking for a setting that has both a vineyard AND a barn! The new accommodations to the bridal suite and groom's suite really are beautiful; the decorations/new paint add even more charm to this picturesque location. Not to mention there is SO much more space for the wedding parties to get ready. Both the groom and I enjoyed preparing for the ceremony in our designated suites. The owners are very sweet and really made sure that our vision was captured for our wedding day. Thanks to the Vineyard Estate, we got everything we wanted and more for our wedding day!

This venue was absolutely stunning and perfect for our wedding. We were so fortunate to stumble upon it! Ken, the owner, truly has the best venue for a rustic style wedding. After viewing the property, we had basically made our decision and booked it.

However, to agree with what a previous reviewer said, my husband and I booked this venue before he began creating more rules and regulations, and he expected us to adhere to them. Being respectful people anyway, we obliged to many of them but had to have our wedding coordinator check him on some things that he had promised to us initially and technically no longer offered with the venue.

Ken is VERY concerned with the integrity of his property. Just be aware of this when you book this venue. Otherwise, it was absolutely everything we wanted and we keep hearing from our guests how beautiful and perfect everything was!

Just make sure you read the contract completely ended up paying some fees I wasn't told about that were in the small print. Over all we had a wonderful wedding it was the perfect choice.

There are so many wonderful things about this place. One of the best things is one of their Wedding Coordinator, Charlain. SHE. IS. AMAZING. She was always 5 steps ahead and was always asking if I needed anything. She helped to make our day 100% stress free and everything went off without a hitch. The venue is beautiful, scenic and quiet. My guests absolutely loved it.

There are two things that I struggled with; 1) They only rent out the space for 5 hours from start to finish. This simply is not enough time to have a ceremony, eat dinner, talk to all of your guests and get to enjoy yourself with dancing and everything else. If they allowed one more hour this would have been the perfect amount of time for a wedding of 100 people. 2) They renovated and built a new arbor that is simply not for everybody and certainly not for us. They do not allow you to hang anything from it so you really have to be ok with this structure as is. This was tough to swallow as the venue had stated they were building something a little more grand when we signed the contract.

All in all our day was perfect despite the wonky weather. Charlain, I hope you see this...you really are amazing. Thank you!

My husband and I got married at this venue in October of this year but we toured the venue when it was still known as The Vintager Inn. Let me begin by saying the venue is stunning, the wedding went off perfectly, and all promises to me were kept - there were just some slight irritations that came up along the year and a half leading up to our wedding.

During the first walk through, we fell in love with the venue and the area and also the coordinator that we met with. Not long after, we contacted the initial coordinator and were shocked to find that she was no longer employed by the Vintager Inn and that it was under new management. At this point, however, we were not too worried and did not think too much of the change. However, the slight irritation occurred when our money was sent off to solidify our date and it felt as if there was no communication between the staff and myself. I had to contact the new owners of the venue as I had not heard back from the then second event coordinator in some time. The owner did contact me back advising that they received the money and that our date was in the books. We then were contacted multiple times with different staff members again, and it began to feel as if the lack of stability in their staffing was worrisome.

I then became aware of the changes being made to the venue via their Facebook page as I was not able to attend the open house event to show their changes. Initially, I was slightly nervous as I fell in love with the old venue but I am here to tell you that all of the changes made were fantastic!

All in all, after the dust settled from the venue changing hands, everything was perfect and it was exactly the venue we were looking for!

The setting is very beautiful and I had my wedding before the prices got too high. I think now it's more than doubled in price and I wouldn't pay that today. Honestly the owner stressed me out so much with his rules and restrictions and stories of previous weddings that I was more worried at my reception than having fun at times, especially at the end of the night since everyone had to be gone by 11... or he said he would call the police if he needed to. Thankfully i was able to get everyone to leave just in time, but it was incredibly stressful and i did not enjoy the last hour of my reception. If you are having a day wedding and do not plan on having any late night activities then this place is fine.

For my wedding, the venue itself was great. My guests loved it and the atmosphere available for the photos added to them turning out amazing. I signed my contract long before the newest rules and regulations went into effect so needless to say by the time my day came, majority of the day of activities I had planned for either had a cost or were no longer allowed. But I took it all in stride and made other arrangements, convinced not to let it ruin my day. Overall the wedding was perfect, but I mainly contribute that to my coordinator that I hired... only advice is to just be weary of the coordinator the venue provides.. I heard several complaints (literally all night) from guests and my wedding party about a very bad attitude showing up whenever myself or the owner wasn't around.

    Beautiful venue, terrible business

We were so excited to have our wedding at the Vineyard Estate. We loved our wedding coordinator, Jackie, and were impressed by her. The venue itself was stunning and exactly what we wanted. I usually don't leave reviews, but want to warn other brides. Be wary of the owners of the venue, JoAnna and her husband. Others have noted that as well. They run a shady business and I was surprised by them (negatively) again and again. First, they told us that we could have up to 180 guests. Our coordinator said that was the max, and it was listed in their wedding information packet and online. We sent out invitations and about 4 months before our wedding, the owner said she was "shocked" we would have 180 guests, because she said the maximum allowed was 150 guests. She said she would have to "think about how to make it work." Our coordinator assured us there were other weddings that had 180 guests and was unsure why the owner was surprised. Additionally, they rent an air b&b on site. The rate per night was $750 a night, and we were going to stay there the night before the wedding. We communicated this 6 months before the wedding and were told that the contract would be forthcoming. Throughout that time, I sent 3 emails asking for the specifics about the airb&b and the contract. Then, THREE weeks before our wedding, two days after she said she was going to send the contract that day, she said we needed to pay an extra $750 to rent the airb&b. She said it was a "new policy as of today." If we wanted to stay there, we needed to pay double what she originally quoted us on. Our wedding coordinator said in writing as well she thought it was unfair to change on us that short of notice and would try to talk to them. We ended up staying somewhere else.
Then, lastly, one of their associates assured my bridesmaids all the decorations and things were packed up and there was nothing they needed to do. Then, I received an email the next day stating that the flowers and food was left behind and they were "displaying your flowers at New Kent Winery" and threw away the extra food. She even apologized to me and a bridesmaid, saying she wasn't sure what happened. However, $200 was taken from our security deposit due to "cleaning fees of food and flowers." (even though they used our flowers for their benefit).

If you want a trustworthy venue, I would not get married here. There are other venues that would give you less stress!

Their business practices are unprofessional and also stressful, during an already stressful time. They are unpredictable. Our coordinator was wonderful and professional, but it seemed like she was caught in between as the owners changed policies on her, too.

We had a beautiful and near flawless wedding day at New Kent Winery this summer. Everything came together the day of but it was a lot of work to coordinate with the venue and many times they were not responsive for weeks/months at a time. I loved the venue so much I would do it all over again though. I would advise only booking this venue if you hire a third party wedding planner who is organized and will stay on top of the venue. I went with the venues coordinators at an extra cost and had FIVE different coordinators in the span of a year. The first two were unresponsive and terribly disorganized. The last 3 were amazing but I would have preferred to work with one coordinator and not have details lost in translation. Also, it's worth noting that the venue is not flexible when it comes to the timeline. The "tentative" timeline in your contract ends up being the timeline they stick to and won't flex on.. not even by 30 minutes. My ceremony couldn't begin until 6pm which meant reception began at 7:45 and we had to leave by 11. This makes it about 1 hour shorter reception than other venues I looked at. You don't get access to the venue until 4 and it's open to the public until 5. I decided to rent a hotel suite for getting ready instead of getting ready at the venue because 4 was just too late. Make sure you get the max capacity of the venue written into your contract. One of the coordinators contacted me after I sent out invitations months before the wedding to tell me the venue only seats 120 guests not 175 as was previously discussed. Luckily I only had 110 rsvp or we would've had to use the tent and not the actual venue which I was extremely opposed to. Lastly, the owners change policies frequently. Make sure your contract is solid and outlining all details such as alcohol, costs, timeline, guest count, setup, etc. I had to refer back to the terms of the agreement many times. Overall beautiful venue but difficult to coordinate with.

So we fell in love with the Vintager Inn right after we got engaged. We were super excited to book the venue because it had everything we wanted. You can literally get married anywhere on the property and it is set on a beautiful 60+ acre site in New Kent County. The barn reception is exactly what we were looking for and the rustic setting matched us and the style of wedding we wanted very well. Further, there is both a bridal suite and separate grooms room where the wedding party can get ready and have their hair and makeup done (although the lighting in the room leaves something to be desired since there are no windows) and leave their bags for the duration of the ceremony and reception.

The issues! During our engagement the Vintager Inn was purchased by the New Kent Winery and we were never informed of the purchase until we inquired with the old coordinator about a wedding question. The new contact at the Inn wouldn't get back with us in a timely matter because of the transition and they took forever to hire a venue manager to be the main contact for our wedding. When we found the Vintager Inn they mentioned that we could stay in the BnB the night of our wedding and we would have the whole house to ourselves on our wedding night. However, during the purchase the owners moved in the BnB and we were disappointed with that outcome because we wanted to be completely alone on our wedding night and not staying with some strangers....granted I know this is how BnBs work, it just changed on us at the last minute.

They could work on their responsiveness and the attention to their clients a little better. The new owners didn't wow us but the property certainly did and our guests loved the venue as well.

New Kent Winery is a beautiful place to get married, offering great scenery and a beautiful building. However, our experience with the staff was not good. The owner is rude and very unwelcoming. During the reception, both of my parents were asked multiple times to LEAVE the tent to go clean things up inside of the building, put things away, or do other tasks, when I specifically asked the wedding coordinator not to ask either of my parents for anything during the reception. If you want to be at a venue where your bridesmaids can spend the day getting ready together and spending time together, this is not the place. You cannot be in the room you get ready in until 4:00, and if you want extra time before that, you are charged $150 an hour. I understand this, as they need the room for other things that day, but it's still an inconvenience. Besides Andrea, it's as if the other staff were not welcoming and did not make us feel like they were happy to have us there. We later had friends tell us that the lady serving wine during our cocktail hour was extremely grumpy and a few other friends have commented on the rudeness of the people working there in general. All of our friends and family raved about the location and many other things about the night, and I absolutely loved my wedding, but the air of the staff made this a location I would not recommend.

An absolutely beautiful venue. There were some downsides as far as the planner and inconsistency of the owners/staff. When we signed the contract to reserve the venue, we had discussed exactly what we wanted and they agreed to meet all of our requirements. Without us knowing, the wedding coordinator was released from the establishment and we were never notified which left us in the dark completely. We then met the new planner through us reaching out to them. All that we were promised was washed away and had to start new after already signing the contract, which was very frustrating because nothing was passed down to the new wedding coordinator. We eventually worked out a lot of the kinks and had a great day, but the headache leading up to it made it almost not worth the venue. The venue is very overpriced, especially since they don't let you start getting ready until 4 p.m., don't let any vendor start setting up before 4 p.m. even though they said they could start setting up at 2-3 p.m., and seems they care more about the winery costumers and not the weddings even though we pay more than any other client at the establishment.

We just had our wedding at New Kent Winery & it was absolutely beautiful, by far the best day of our lives. However, we had several issues with them as a venue. The owner did a great job of selling the winery to us, making us feel like it would be all about our day (& it should be for how much it we paid between the venue, wine package, & miscellaneous other small things) but once it was booked & paid for, about 2 months out from the wedding, all these things that were originally promised to us (between the 3 different event planners they've had over the last year) were all of a sudden not possible. There is a huge lack of communication among their staff. Our guest count was 150 & I had told them that multiple times yet they still only had 100 chairs set out so my planner & her team were running around like crazy trying to gather chairs as guests are being seated. As far as getting ready, they were not open to us needing to come early to get ready so we could have pictures done pre-ceremony (they do not allow your ceremony to begin until 6 because they are open for wine tasting yet sunset is at 6:30 this time of year so we had no option but to do our first look, bridal party photos, and family photos before the ceremony). This was a big deal for the winery & the day of, when the groomsmen arrived, they felt very unwelcomed by the winery staff. I get that they were open for business and tasting, but I can also guarantee those customers were not spending nearly as much as we did to have our wedding there. I think if they made events feel as if they are more of a priority, they would find out it would be such a better venue experience for all. If it weren't for my wedding planner & her team, it could have been a very stressful wedding week, especially day of. My advice if you want to book here is to make sure EVERY little thing or detail is written in your contract because they are not very flexible and will verbally promise things that they can't follow through on.

We had our April 2017 wedding at The Vineyard Estate at New Kent, previously the Vintager Inn. The site is beautiful with a gorgeous property and rustic but elegant barn. The pictures came out beautifully and on our day everything went off without a hitch. The venue staff set up as requested and they were friendly and helpful. Some remodeling had just been done and looked very nice. We had no issues day-of.

That said, I would not have booked this venue knowing now the frustrations we would encounter in planning. We had 4 meetings at the Vintager from first visit to wedding day. Each time we met there was a newly hired event coordinator who had none of the information that had been discussed with their predecessors. Every meeting was the first. They did not have our vendor list, the layout notes, timing, etc. Conversations that should have happened once had to be repeated. For a couple who had to travel from out of town to meet in person to get answers and re-litigate details several times, it was a tremendous inconvenience.

Per our contract, our confirmed head count was due 1 mo. prior, which we provided. At that time, I requested our final invoice and we received it over a week later after several calls. The invoice contained an additional charge related to the bar setup which had not been previously mentioned, agreed upon or discussed. It took me, the bride, getting on the phone with the owner the week before my wedding to explain the reasons I felt the charge to be un-justified for us to come to a mutually agreeable resolution. I also shared my other frustrations with the owner who then remained actively involved for the last week.

Needless to say, working with this venue was not a smooth process. The venue is beautiful and the staff are friendly in-person. If you do decide to book here, go in being prepared to have to fight for what you want and make sure you keep meticulous records and have a strong event planner.

I had originally booked my wedding (ceremony, cocktail hour and reception) to be at the NK Winery. We were promised a new tent and a new this and that. 4 months after booking I was contacted by the venue's NEW event manager and we met. I was then told that the major changes to the venue that I had been promised they would not be able to deliver on. After some negotiation by my planner I was able to get out of my contract w/a full refund), BUT ONLY if I could prove within 6-7 days that I had booked a new venue (thankfully my planner was on it and found me an even better available venue). I provided proof within 72 hours of being told I could get out of my contract and it took 3+ weeks for the owners to refund my deposit.
It has recently come to my attention that NK Winery no longer employs the "new" event manager.

Overall my experience was fair to poor. While the owners are very nice, even to an outsider it is clear to me that they do not know how to handle event management.

Additionally I believe them to be over priced and inflexible for what you are getting. I was quoted $8100 for site rental and then would have to purchase a wine package per person.

My husband and I wanted so bad to be able to write a stellar review about this venue, unfortunately that ended up not being the case. We fell in love with the venue the minute we saw it; however, unfortunately, the excitement and bliss of having such a wonderful venue came to a screeching halt once the new owners took over. They proceeded to tell us that we were unable to do things that had been previously agreed upon by not just the old property manager but the owner as well. They tried to tell us that we would be having our ceremony inside (no exceptions) if there was a 50% chance or more predicted two days before. This was not agreed upon in our contract, but luckily it didn't rain so I was not going to have to move chairs in my wedding dress before the ceremony just to have it outside. We paid $500 extra to set up the day before (it was even written in our contract and agreed upon by the new owners); however, the week before the owner proceeded to call my mother in law and berate her about how we need to be more flexible and we should just set up on Saturday morning. We worked that out ;however, the Friday before the wedding the owner proceeded to walk into the venue while we were setting up and insult our decorations saying it should be more rustic (our decor ended up being published in multiple locations). I honestly didn't think that the owners would do anything worse; however, I was very wrong. The next day, while my vendors were setting up, they decided to let their dog run loose in the field behind the house. I usually wouldn't take issue with this; however, the dog proceeded to jump on my flower girl and get her dress dirty. When the girls grandmother pointed this out the the owner, her response was to leash the dog with caution tape. They wouldn't open the doors to the carriage house and it was sweltering. They sat on the porch and watched the entire wedding without coming to congratulate us. Dog poop covered the field. Absolutely horrible!

Old bitter white moronic women. New Kent Winery should be boycotted.

Directly from New Kent Winery. " What a bunch of old bitter white women who are clueless morons.Go home and whine. Leave the country and live in some third world country. You will not survive a week." Posted on Facebook and style magazine. Please research these bigots and prejudice people that run the winery. They should be boycotted. Shame on them.

    Beautiful Venue, Bad Owner

If I could leave 0-star review... I would. Rude. Inconsiderate. Unethical. Brash. Those are the words I would use to describe the owner, Joanne.

The venue and property is picture perfect but do not be blinded by the stunning venue, like I was... one of the owners (specifically, Joanne) is brash, harsh, and talks negatively about anything you have already planned for your wedding. At my 6-week appointment, every detail I had already planned for my wedding, she told me was "wrong". Both wedding coordinators that were employed (no longer employed by the venue) were fantastic and I remain friends with both of them on social media and talk to them on a regular basis. Specifically, Sara. Sara was a dream to work with and Sara is the reason my wedding dreams came true for the day of.

I was not informed by the venue when my rehearsal time had changed from the late afternoon to morning until the 6-week vendor walk through appointment, after we spent 2 hours talking through what the Thursday-Saturday timeline would look like... never mentioning the Friday wedding they had scheduled.

I could have looked past those behaviors considering Sara ensured my wedding day went off without a hitch. However, the most recent interactions with Joanne have completely left a sour taste in my mouth. I will never recommend them because of the following incident.

Our contract states that the venue has 14-business days to return our damages and cleaning deposit. I had heard from Sara before her employment at the Vineyard Estates concluded that we had no damages and no cleaning fees and should expect the full refund within 1-2 weeks. We never received it. Email after email after email and several phone calls not returned to us, we finally received a deposit back 32 days after the wedding... with no explanation as to why the deposit was withheld from us. The owner deducted a cleaning fee for a "bathroom incident" that we were not made aware of the night of the wedding. When asked why we weren't made aware of this, Joanne said she didn't want to "ruin our night". When asked how we would know that this actually happened at our wedding and not a different one, her response was "because I said it happened at yours, that's how.". Come to find out from the coordinator that the "bathroom incident" we were charged for happened at the wedding the night before ours. There is simply no reasoning with this woman. She should absolutely NEVER work with customers, brides, and their families and should be completely hands off with the weddings they host.

It is truly a shame that one of the pretties venues in Virginia is ruined by the horrible attitude and unethical business behavior by the owner, Joanne.

All of the excellent reviews that speak of wonderful owners must have only worked with Joe. Having worked with both of them for two separate events, he is level-headed, kind, willing to work with you, and just a nice person.

My husband and I had a beautiful wedding at The Vintager Inn in May 2016. All the vendors we used came together to create an amazing day for us from start to finish! Unfortunately there was one exception that caused us significant stress and negative feelings towards The Vintager Inn. After we signed a contract, The Vintager Inn was sold to new owners. These owners did not contact us to notify us about the change in ownership or meet with us until less than 2 months before our wedding. During that meeting and subsequent conversations, the new owners made no attempt to get to know us as a couple. They instead spent time bragging about their winery, time spent in law enforcement and speaking poorly about the previous owners and their wedding coordinator (who we had met personally and have nothing but wonderful things to say about her). The new owners tried to nickel and dime every aspect of our wedding, including fees and taxes that were not part of the original contract and agreement. .In a nutshell, it is obvious they are in it for the money and not at all interested in the wedding industry or the couples getting married at The Vintager Inn (which by the way, is no longer a Bed and Breakfast but their personal residence). If you want to have a beautiful wedding with a rustic, barn-like atmosphere, choose The Vintager Inn but be prepared to stand up for yourself and make sure your contract lays out every detail. However, if my husband and I could do it over again we would not have picked The Vintager Inn as our wedding venue solely due to the new owners.

Poor customer service from owner. Caterer is a onsite only caterer and 3 weeks before wedding venue owner said caterer could not show up until 2pm for a 5pm service. How can you do quality bbq in 3 hours. Lovely venue but beware of no customer service.

I would NOT recommend getting married here. Getting to our wedding day was a struggle every step of the way with the new current owners. We had viewed the venue, loved it and quickly signed a contract with the old owners. Some time went by, we hadn't heard from anyone so we reached out multiple times till finally, our contact told us the venue had been sold and she no longer worked there. That was our first concern, that no one told us the venue had been sold and the new owners did not reach out to let us know.

From initial contact to the wedding day we had FOUR different wedding coordinators because people kept quitting or getting fired? What is more shocking is that no one would ever tell us we had a new coordinator. We would reach out to ours, hear from NO ONE then eventually much later someone would email us back pretending nothing had happened. Unprofessional. Our eventual main contact was rude and difficult. She made our final walk through uncomfortable and stressful, was very difficult to communicate with, and I'm so glad she wasn't there the day of our wedding. We are very lucky that all of our other vendors were so wonderful and helped give us the day of our dreams because this group made it a struggle every step of the way.

We learned quickly that they like to make up their own rules to benefit them but never you. At one point they tried to tell us that we were REQUIRED to bring our mixed drinks premixed (who does that?) and that we were REQUIRED to bring beer chilled and in no way could it be put on ice by the caterers once it arrived. I'm convinced they only tried to make our drink situation difficult because we didn't buy their beer package.

I had noticed a lot of negative reviews since the new ownership. We even called them out for it and they claimed it was just internet trolls trying to hurt their business (false) We were lucky that our day ended up great, but getting their was QUITE the struggle.
