My mother always told me "if you're going to do something, you may as well do it right!" Let me put it this way: if you want your wedding video done right, John Hoel's Vibrant Film is THE way to go. John's presence, his equipment, and his finished products are all reasons to invest in a wedding video from Vibrant Film.

John's presence: newsflash-- weddings are stressful! But John does this for a living. He will be a calming presence at your event, and knows how to put you in the right place at the right time in order to capture the full beauty of your wedding. I remember at one point during my wedding when I was having the darndest time doing something as simple as turning on a microphone (in front of 150 people)... John calmly took care of it so I could focus on being married. And my beautiful bride. It sounds weird, but having a guy of John's caliber at your wedding really allows you to focus on being in the moment.

John's equipment: John has a plethora of equipment at his disposal, and he knows how to use it. GoPros, flying things, car cams, traditional cameras...you name it, he has it. Perhaps more importantly, he knows how to use it. When you look at John's films, it looks like there are 4-5 people there filming-- that's just how good he is.

John's finished products: simply put, John's wedding videos are the best out there. Seriously. My wife and I reviewed probably 100 videos from 35-40 different videographers... none were even close to the quality of films John puts out. And he has no duds-- check out his videos, and you'll see that video after video is absolutely incredible. His attention to detail, his eye for settings and framing, his ability to capture things you don't even remember, and his video editing are second to none.

My wife and I could not be happier with our wedding video from Vibrant Film. Hats off and a big thank you to John Hoel-- thank you for providing us with something we will treasure forever!

There are truly no words that can describe the talent, quality, and level of respect that my husband and I have for John and the work that he does. Being able to relive our wedding day over and over in the one of a kind and unbelievable way that John created is something we will cherish for the rest of our lives. I spent endless hours researching and contacting people regarding a videographer and I can without a doubt say that absolutely nothing compares. John was a joy to work with and someone my husband and I hope to stay in touch with.

What an amazing experience to work with this man. Words can not describe how grateful we are to have a wedding video that we will be able to share forever! Comments from friends and family on our video keep coming and they are ALL dumbfounded by how incredible the video turned out. He captured everything we wanted and made it into SO much more! I will continue to recommend him to everyone!

We can't say enough good things about working with John as our wedding videographer. The work speaks for itself: emotional, beautiful, personal (http://vimeo.com/98087741). John is an amazing storyteller, and he's an artist. We posted our wedding video to Facebook, and we've gotten so many comments that folks have cried, laughed, and felt like they were actually there.

John was a pleasure to work with. During our meetings, he was a great listener and did a great job explaining the process. He even reached out to our officiant to get her script so that he could be prepared to capture contextual shots. During the actual day and rehearsal dinner, John did an amazing job of allowing us to experience the day without thinking at all about being filmed, and he still managed to capture so many special moments. My husband's mom just said, "It was amazing how much John just faded into the background; he captured much more authentic personalities as a result."

And the actual video... just WOW! It captured our day perfectly, and we're also soooo glad we invited him to the rehearsal dinner so that he could capture toasts. One of the things that drew us to John was his beautiful way of storytelling using audio clips from speeches + music, and he really delivered for us. We also love how he infused a sense of playfulness into our video while still balancing the emotional and sweet parts of the ceremony and toasts. Another thing to note was how well he worked with our photographer (Vick Photography) to create some really creative backdrops. Another thing we didn't expect, but absolutely loved from John's work was the additional footage, including edited versions of toasts with toast + reaction shots and a full version of the ceremony audio with another edited video. Truly above and beyond.

We couldn't be happier, and we feel like our investment in working with John will continue to pay off for years to come. Thanks so much, John! You're the best!

Rob and I were married in NYC on December 14, 2013. As soon as we had secured the date, we got in touch with John Hoel to see if he would be available. He quickly got back to us with the fantastic news that, yes, he was available, and in fact, excited to come to New York to film our Christmas-in-New-York wedding.
Working with John throughout the entire weekend was not only fun, but tremendously easy (we often forgot that he was there). We instantly trusted his eye, and let go of the process, feeling completely safe and take care of by this amazingly talented man.
We waited with baited breath for the video (and not long at all. Shockingly John completed his post-production in a timely manner, and kept us posted every step of the way.) We just knew that he captured some wonderful shots, but then, we clicked on the link to our video.
We sat in total amazement; crying, yes, laughing, for sure, but in complete awe of the visuals we saw before us. Not only did John manage to capture both the physical beauty (while writing a visual love letter to New York City), but the emotional tenor of the weekend as well. It was as if he captured the feeling of the weekend on film, and we actually relive it each and every time we view it. His extraordinary ability to form a narrative, the manner in which he creates a visual and emotional arc, the way he ties in spoken words of the weekend to visual imagery, all are beyond mere words of praise. John is an incredible artist, and what he gave us waaaaayyy surpassed our expectations.
I can't say enough about how wonderful he is to work with--he is a man of great warmth, humor, creativity, and ease, that it is feels such a privilege to work with him, effortlessly entrusting him with the process. And what he produced for us is a treasure that both Rob and I, and all of our friends and family, will cherish for a lifetime.

John Hoel from Vibrant Film is simply outstanding. From the moment I contacted him, I knew he was going to play a major role in capturing our wedding day, and that he did. He listens to what is important to the bride and groom, and he makes sure to capture the wedding day in order to make it come alive forever. He has a wonderful presence on the actual wedding day and somehow manages to be present without being intrusive. John is truly talented and every bride would be lucky to have him on her special day. Finally, when our wedding video was finished, it brought complete joy to us and our families and friends. A huge thank you to John!

John Hoel created the most amazing video of our wedding day! He is easy to work with and he was so great with everythone at the event. I don't even have words to describe how thrilled we are with our wedding film. WOW. John captured each and every moment we could have possibly wanted to remember and then some. We were so confident working with John and knew after watching his wedding films that we were in for something special. We wouldn't have worked with anyone else. We cannot believe how perfectly he captured and bottled up the total happiness of our day.

Leading up to the wedding, Charles and I knew that this was a splurge but something we really wanted to do. My mom kept gently encouraging us to reconsider because of the cost, we'd have pictures, etc... After I showed her the film, she grabbed my arm and with tears streaming down her face said, "I take back everything I said."

Such a worthwhile investment!!!

I honestly don't know what else I can add that hasn't been said in all of the other reviews. If John has an availability on your wedding day, BOOK HIM! You won't regret it! BEST DECISION WE MADE! I typically do not write reviews, but John is so incredibly talented that if I can convince someone to use his services, it is worth taking the time to write one! After picking the brains of all my married friends, they said a video is a must. After much internet searching, I was lucky enough to stumble across a video that John had done. I was BLOWN AWAY! I didn't know a wedding video could capture the day so beautifully - I was sold. My husband not so much - I mentioned wedding video and he, like many, thought wedding video=cheesy video that we'd never watch again. All it took was watching ONE of John's previous weddings and he too was sold.

In our meetings prior to the big day, John was just as excited about our wedding as we were. Despite the number of weddings he's been a part of, he makes you feel like your day is so special and he's truly honored to be a part of it. That amount of passion for his work shows in the final product. The day of the wedding he was everywhere and nowhere at the same time. He captured all of the big and little moments of the day, but you never felt like he was intruding or felt awkward with a camera in the room.

The first thing we did once we returned from our honeymoon was check our email for the video. We were not disappointed. PHENOMENAL. My husband and I, our friends and family continue to watch the video on a regular basis since the big day. (Strangers would come up to us saying how amazing our video was because friends of friends showed it to them!) To have a video of this caliber to watch for years to come that reminds us of our amazing day, there are not enough words to thank John for his incredible talent.

Out of all of the wedding vendors that we hired for our wedding John was the best one by far. From the first day that we Skyped with John it was obvious that he was the super excited about our big day.

It was a pleasure working with John from start to finish as his professionalism and attention to detail made our wedding video a truly spectacular product.

Our video is incredible and my wife and I are still getting compliments from all of our friends and family as our wedding video has gone viral.

John really took our suggestions to heart and made sure that he created something that accurately represented our wonderful day.

Lastly I would say that John was also very friendly to all of our guests at the wedding and felt like more of a guest than a hired vendor. He was a great addition to our wedding day and my wife and I consider him friend and have normal email correspondence with him still. We would recommend him to anyone who wants to deal with a kind, professional videographer who is extremely skilled and committed to producing a truly first class product ! - Thank you John

I wish I could give John Hoel, and Vibrant Film 100.0/5.0!!!

John Hoel is incredibly talented, and when I say incredible I mean it! Not only did he capture our wedding day in the most AMAZING way. He is probably the nicest guy my husband and I have ever met. If he and his family lived closer I am sure we would hang out :) (Dogs and All)

His ability to capture an entire 14 hour day, and create a 13 minute video for us is UNREAL! His talent as a videographer and producer exceeds anything that we have ever seen! He is worth every single penny!!
There is not enough positive things to say about our wedding video and his creativity in which all of his films possess. John Hoel(Vibrant Film) was the best decision we ever made, as apart of our wedding day! Thanks to John we can now relive our wedding day in the best way, whenever we want! Holy perfection. I know what you're thinking - do I really need a video of my wedding day? Aren't they always pretty cheesy? Let me tell you, it is not. At least not when you are working with John from Vibrant Film. I still can't believe the quality of the video that we received. John was the consummate professional. We had a couple of meetings before our wedding day so that John could get to know us and our personal styles. We were able to pick out our own music which he used in the video. And, did I mention the quality? I still get compliments from friends and family on how beautiful the video is. I don't know how he managed to capture all of the important parts of our day, but somehow he did!

Included in the price is a zip drive of your film, a posting of your film on his website, 5 DVDs, as well as a special little treat (but I won't ruin the surprise!) Also, John complies a gorgeous 15 minute film for you, as well as separate videos of the speeches and ceremony.

You may be wondering if the money you are paying will be worth it - it may seem like quite a large sum. But, once you get the end product, you realize that every penny was worth it. Every. Penny. This is something that we've watched again and again, and we'll be able to watch it every year for our anniversary!

The best part? When we watched the video, my dad asked what John looked like, because he couldn't remember ever seeing John there in the first place! Hah!

John is quite possibly the coolest person you'll ever meet, not to mention his crazy talent for telling a story. I was in TV news, so our videographer was the hardest decision for me to make...until we met John. He took so much time to really get to know us as a couple and understand who we are and what is important to us. In the couple of meetings we had leading up to the wedding, I was confident that he'd be able to put together a good representation of us and of our special day.

When we watched the video (http://www.vibrantfilm.com/journal/stacie-mike.html) for the first time, it was as if I shot video of all of the most important details of my day and all of the most meaningful sound bites of conversations and speeches myself. I couldn't have told our story better myself! We didn't really notice he was there throughout the day, but he didn't miss one moment. He is TRULY in tune to the couple he is shooting and I don't think that's a quality that every videographer has.

I was so sad to know our time working with him was over, but he really is someone I will stay in touch with. No review can do this wildly talented guy justice. HE'S THE ABSOLUTE BEST!

Both my husband and I work in the broadcasting industry and have done some video editing in our day, so when looking for a wedding videographer we were extremely picky. There are so many things about John that are so impressive. In the year or so leading up to our wedding, I watched all of John's wedding videos. Each one is so unique and so beautiful. John can put his finger on what makes each wedding special and is able to capture and amplify that; and he can take ordinary things and make them interesting and artistic. He was always immediate in his communication before and after the wedding, which I came to understand isn't always common in the wedding world. John also went out of his way to accommodate our needs and travel to a city he's never been to. Once you meet John, you understand that he is so passionate about his craft and about people. He's so warm, yet subscribes to being a fly on the wall when he's shooting as to capture those honest and candid moments. One of the most amazing parts is that having seen his previous work and knowing the type of equipment that is normally used to achieve that, you'd think John has a huge crew with giant cranes and cameras. It's just John and a camera so small that people kept asking if it was for still photos. Another great thing about John's wedding videos is that he not only gets them done very quickly, but that he puts together around 15 unique minutes of a music video (which I've never seen from any other wedding video outlet) in addition to the entire ceremony and every toast. John was kind enough to send us a very generous wedding gift and told us how honored he was to be a part of our special weekend. But it's my husband and me who are so blessed to have had John capture the best day of our lives in such an incredible way so that we can relive it for the rest of our lives... and we've already watched it at least a dozen times! John's the absolute best!

Having Vibrant Film capture our wedding day is one of the best decisions we made throughout our entire planning process. John Hoel, of Vibrant Film was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding day. Not only is his work phenomenal, but he is so easy to work with, and truly cares about all of his couples. He has an amazing ability to capture EVERYTHING that goes on during the wedding day, as if he is in multiple places at once. However, he is in no way intrusive, you hardly even know he is there. Thanks to John we are able to have an amazing video that helps us to relive our wedding day like nothing else can. Also, John made it so easy to share with our friends and family who greatly appreciated his work as well. Hands down having a videographer is one of the best decisions you can make for your wedding day, and John is the best of the best.

This was hands down the best decision we made for our wedding. John was amazing to work with and captured not oly the events but also the spirit of the day ... Perfectly. Our video is the perfect way to relive the day and to share it with friends and family (and hopefully our kids someday!)

Value is a function of quality + price, and the quality John puts out every time makes him an amazing value. No question it was worth it and we would hire him again in a heartbeat!!

John is a pleasure to work with; friendly, creative and easy going.
The final video was stunning, and he captured the day perfectly for us.
John also finshed the video quickly, so we didn't have to wait too long to see it.

John is amazingly talented and professional. Our decision to use him as our videographer was one of the best decisions we made in our wedding planning. To this day, we are still talking about how much we LOVE our video (and it still gives us chills!) We had both an Indian ceremony on Friday night and a tradional Christian wedding on Saturday and John was able to capture footage from both. From this footage, he created a truly memorable masterpiece and really captured the essence of our wedding weekend. We definetely recommend John.

John was amazing to work with! When we first met with him he told us we wouldn't even notice him the day of the wedding and we didn't believe it. How could you not notice a camera following you around? He was exactly right - we actually had a number of people tell us after we shared the video that they didn't even know we had a videographer!

We cut expenses for other parts of the wedding so we could have an awesome video and not something cheap and cheesy and I wouldn't change that decision - the quality of the video is so great that no other videos have compared. We got sooo many compliments from friends and family on how amazing the video was.

I was looking for a videographer and had a pretty short deadline since our wedding was coming up in a few months and most were booked. My husband and I are both in the creative field and so we had a pretty good idea of the look we were wanting. We were near giving up on finding someone until our florist recommended John Hoel and I couldn't be happier she did. The wedding was a 2-day event and from the moment he showed up on Friday morning to when the party was winding down Saturday night, John was nothing but professional and accommodating with a natural eye for style and a real talent for creating a personal story through video, words and music. We were all stunned at the amount of real detail and personality he captured throughout the day...it felt like he was a close friend who knew our families and how to tell our stories. He brought lots of equipment with him (cranes, stands, etc.) but many guests didn't notice him and were surprised to find out after that we even had a videographer. In his words, a "video ninja".

We (luckily) found John after a lot of searching right up to our wedding week. From our initial meeting with John, to all his work on our big day, to the blown-away video that he put together for us, we were impressed throughout. John has a very high standard for personal quality and it shows through in the finished product - highly recommended!

We were married September 10th 2011. We hired John Hoel as our videographer. I had heard his name through a friend, but had never met him. Now I can described John with one word, phenomenal. John is talented beyond measure, he was organized, communication was top notch, his video talent is indescribable. He caught every important second of our wedding day, and then some. I would recommend him to my sisters, best friends, and strangers on the street. His videos bring back that special day in a way you will never understand, until you watch your own wedding day for the first time a few weeks later. He is a MUST BOOK! You wont regret it!! Best investment of our whole day, hands down! Our wedding video is the one thing that we have been able to "keep" and use/watch to remind us of how awesome our day was. The quality is amazing and John was so personable to work with. We are so happy to have made the investment!

It's not possible for me to be any happier with my wedding video. It's creative, touching, and memorializes all the great moments. In all my dealings with wedding vendors over the 16 months I was planning my wedding, John was by far the most responsive, most flexible, and easiest to work with. Despite only having a few meetings with John, the video was done in such a way that got to the heart of who we are as individuals and as a couple. My friends and family have shown it numerous times to others, and have told that these people tear up, despite not even knowing us! Asking John to shoot our wedding video was the best decision I made during wedding planning. Flowers die, memories fade, but fabulous wedding videos are forever. ;) He is expensive, especially if you get the 14 hour package, but I felt like it was worth it. For the number of times that I, my family, and friends will view the video it's definitely worth it! Anyone considering using John should go and look on his website and view some of the videos. John was so great. Our video turned out wonderful. Many of my friends commented that it looked like a Hollywood movie. It is so much fun to watch and did a great job capturing our day. I found out about John through my friend who had him as a videographer for her wedding. I loved her video so I decided to hire John for my wedding. I am really glad I did. I highly recommend John.

Photographers are a waste of time. Once you have your video from John, you'll never want to look at your photos again. The price may be high but the end result is worth every penny. It is the best souvenir (outside of your spouse - hopefully!) you'll have from one of the most important days of your life.

We hired John to film our wedding on 7/19/14 and it was on the of the best decisions we made as a bride and groom! Long after the wedding day, when the centerpieces and linens and florals are yesterdays' news, our wedding video remains such a special reminder of our sacred day! John did such a fantastic job filming both the ceremony and reception. The reason why we hired John over other videographers is because John's films tell a story. While we found most other videographers wedding films to be cheesy, John's work is pure class and pure art. We love the way he intertwines the speeches with various wedding day shots and perfectly times each song to special moments of the day. I've watched our wedding video over 100 times and we've only been married for 2 months! I look forward to having our film to share with friends, family, and with future generations for years to come! While John is no cheap date, he is a true professional in every way and worth every penny. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone!
