The best hair and makeup team in STL
Working with the Velvet Room for my wedding hair and makeup was simply the BEST! Marina and Shanice were so incredibly kind, professional, and helpful from the very first email I sent them. I seriously cannot say enough good things about them! Setting up times for a trial was a breeze, and they were so quick to respond. Carlos was our hairstylist and Sara was our makeup artist and they were both phenomenal, not only during the trial (which happened in August on the hottest and most humid day of the year and the hair and makeup still held up!), but also on my wedding day. Carlos and Sara made everyone look and feel so beautiful, the entire bridal party received compliments all day. They were absolutely perfect and brought such a calming and fun vibe to getting ready which eased all the pre-wedding nerves. 10/10 would recommend!! I reached out to Marina and from the beginning she was very responsive, answered all of my questions, was super kind and professional. I really wanted to embrace my natural curls and during my trial with Rubi I felt very heard and decided to book them for myself, mom, and bridesmaids (6). Rubi helped my idea come to life with styling my curls naturally and adding just a little something special with pearl pins. My makeup was exactly how I envisioned and she really listened to me while also making helpful suggestions. Carlos was so great with my junior bridesmaid who is only 9 and she had so much fun! They both added to a very comfortable and fun environment where everyone looked so beautiful! Everyone was easy to communicate with and was very professional. We chose Velvet Room to do hair and makeup for our wedding in fall 2024. We were looking for a team who could do hair and makeup on a variety of skin tones and hair textures, and Marina's team delivered. Marina was very helpful throughout the planning process. Our stylist, Rachel, did a fantastic job capturing the vision I had for the bridal hair and makeup. She also made my bridesmaids look absolutely beautiful. -

They were well staffed and accommodating to our needs. We had a diverse wedding with different skin and hair types. We needed something to last the whole day, and we didn’t have that much time in the morning because we were having two weddings on the same day. l can’t say enough wonderful things about Velvet Room! They did hair and makeup for me, my 8 bridesmaids, my mom, grooms mom, grooms sister AND we were running ahead of schedule that one of my friends had time to jump in for makeup. The results were nothing short of perfection. From the moment they arrived, their team made us feel so comfortable and pampered. Each stylist was so talented, attentive, and truly listened to everyone’s vision, making us all feel like the best versions of ourselves.
For me as the bride, they created the most beautiful look that lasted all day and night. I felt confident, elegant, and absolutely glowing. My bridesmaids were equally thrilled with how their hair and makeup turned out, each one tailored to their individual style and personality.
Not only was their work incredible, but their professionalism and calming presence on such an important day made everything run smoothly. Velvet Room made me feel special, and I am so grateful for their amazing service. If you’re looking for a hair and makeup team that will make you feel like royalty, look no further!

Wow! I do not have enough good things to say about the women behind the Velvet Room! As someone who knows nothing about hair and makeup I needed a lot of guidance. Marina and Shanice are kind, patient, flexible, and FUN. They had their hands full with hair and makeup for 8 girls - everyone was so happy with their results AND we were done ahead of schedule. Centrally located in South City, their studio was the perfect place for us to get ready. The studio is tastefully decorated making for plenty of great photo opportunities. Hire them. Both Shanice and Marina were amazing for my wedding! They got me and all of my bridesmaids done with time to spare, and had a blast with us along the way. This made the whole experience fun and stress-free. They both did wonderful jobs for each girl capturing the looks they wanted, and both hair and makeup lasted all day. Super nice and great at communicating, extremely accommodating, great service, clear contract with no unexpected fees!! Provided an experienced and competent stylist that did a great job with my partner’s skin as a South Asian person, who was nervous to have their makeup done by just anyone. Also provided expertise and support for a bad haircut prior to the wedding with a good recommendation for extensions and also support for if we wanted a cut ahead of time to make up for someone else’s work. Couldn’t recommend them enough. Plus, women/POC owned and local. Just what we were looking for!Velvet Room, Makeup & Hair's reply:

Best Decision!
Booking Velvet Room for my wedding day was one of the best decisions I’ve made for my wedding! They were super responsive, met my every need and want, so kind, and made my hair look stunning! There is also an option to rent out the salon for your big day and that was a HUGE lifesaver, when trying to figure out where on earth to get ready with all of my girls! They also have a gorgeous geode inspired wall which was great for getting ready pics. I would and have recommended them a million times over!Velvet Room, Makeup & Hair's reply:

Very Awesome
Hair artist, Sheanna with Velvet room was amazing. She traveled a few miles to meet up with my makeup artist and was so kind. I didn't have the exact idea of what specific hairstyle I wanted but Sheanna was able to vision with me the perfect hairstyle. 10/10 experience and would reccomend. Marina surpassed my expectations and made me feel stunning! She did my hair for our rehearsal dinner, our wedding day and all the women in my bridal party. Simply outstanding. The overall experience was great!
I was about about 4 months out from my wedding when I contacted Marina and was nervous I wouldn’t find any available artists! She responded so quickly and thankfully found artists available! She answered a million of my emails as I was planning from a different state. She was extremely helpful and the price was reasonable for traveling. The artists were punctual, professional, and did an amazing job! My bridal party and my mom felt so beautiful for my Big Day!Velvet Room, Makeup & Hair's reply:

Amazing Customer Service; Above & Beyond
I was looking for someone to input hair extensions for my wedding after several failed attempts I finally found Marina! She not only helped me choose the right extensions for my hair type, dyed my hair to match it perfectly, walked me through everything with suggestions but ultimately, she transformed me in to a beautiful bride! Days before the wedding I needed some touching up and Marina went out of her way to drive to my home in Illinois to do my hair. I recommended her 100%!Velvet Room, Makeup & Hair's reply:

Marina was very organized and super easy to work with.
She kept in touch with us and answered any questions. Marina brought all her tools in a wheeled cart. The 25 year old maid of honor wanted a side Mermaid braid. Marina did a beautiful braid and it lasted through a long day of photos, ceremony and dinner.
For the mother of the bride Marina did some soft curls for medium length hair and attached a small fascinator on the side. It looked great and also lasted all day.
