We hired Velvet City Sound for our September wedding in Piedmont Park. From the jump, VCS was super responsive and helpful, answering any questions we had.
We had the 4 piece band and added on a female vocalist for our reception. We also added on a pianist from the band for our ceremony and dj services for cocktail hour and dinner. We rented a black and white dance floor from VCS which was so fun to have and beautiful in photos! My wedding planner even commented that she hadn’t seen a dance floor rental that nice and clean.
The music throughout the entire wedding was perfect and exactly what we wanted! VCS did an amazing job of feeling out our guests vibes and making sure the party kept going. They played all of our must-have songs and the other songs they added in went perfectly with our wedding. Everyone had SO MUCH FUN!!! Our guests cannot stop raving about how much they loved VCS, and everyone had an incredible time at our reception. We’ve had so many comments about how fun our wedding was. We could not have asked for a better band for our wedding!!! VCS handled all the music flawlessly from ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, to dancing!! We got so many compliments from our guests on the music and how talented they were. They kept the dance floor packed all night long and we had SO much fun!! -

Velvet City Sound is a MUST have for your event. Nick was great to work with and had everything I needed and more. They really made my vision of having a band for my wedding come true. The 7 pieces were a huge hit and we loved every moment of it! I would HIGHLY recommend them for any event you are planning. They kept my guests happy and dancing all night long. They helped keep the evening run smoothly with help on making announcements and giving my guests the information they needed. Nick was flexible in all his work that he did and gave great advice on how things would go that evening. Thank you to the entire team for making our night so special! Velvet City Sound played for my daughter's ceremony and reception, and when I say "they killed it"..... I MEAN "THEY KILLED IT"!!!! I planned my daughter's wedding in 3 weeks, and Nick went above and beyond to ensure the music was perfect! I cannot begin to thank VCS for the incredible night. We had an awesome time with Velvet City Sound playing at our wedding! They were great from the start and really made the day special. They played all our favorite songs, and everyone was dancing the whole night! They even let me get on stage and play a song with them. If you’re looking for a band to make your wedding unforgettable, I highly recommend these guys. Five stars without a doubt! -

We had a great time working with Velvet City Sound for our wedding. They have an INCREDIBLE list of songs/artists to choose from, and let you be as hands on or hands off as you'd like leading up to the event. They really know how to get/keep people dancing and having fun. They are open to learning new songs, which we asked them to do for our first dance song. I would highly recommend VCS for weddings and other events. -

Nick absolutely killed it and really blew us away. We got so many compliments from our guests and the venue staff about how amazing they sounded. VCS is an absolute MUST BOOK. We had them come up to Knoxville for our wedding and the entire process was seamless. Nick was extremely personable and catered to all of our needs. Their process is so thorough and they will make sure they are playing what you are looking for. I searched high and low for a wedding band that could play the music we were looking for. VCS' range is WILD. They can play anything from Grateful Dead to Shania Twain. We are so appreciative of Nick and VCS, our wedding would not have been nearly as amazing without them.

Velvet City Sound was one of the best wedding decisions we made! It was important to both of us to have a band at our wedding and VCS absolutely blew our expectations out of the water. They were so much fun and kept the party going the entire night. From the moment we booked with them the communication was easy and thorough. We were able to be as hands on or off with the set list as we wanted and they encouraged all our ideas from the start. So many of our guests have reached out to say how great VCS was and how they truly made the night. We cannot recommend VCS enough! They even let us sing Mr Brightside with them which was the icing on the cake!Velvet City Sound's reply:

As a wedding planner, we have extremely high expectations, and Velvet City Sound far exceeded them! We worked our first wedding with them yesterday and couldn't wait to add them to our list of recommended vendors! They are communicative, flexible, team players, professional and extremely talented! They played at our NYE wedding on 12/31/23 and just absolutely made the night! We had multiple people texting us the next day asking what their name was again because they loved them so much. If you are looking to get your crowd on the dance floor, Velvet City Sound is your band! They play everything from Yellowcard to Taylor Swift to Lynard Skynard - and everything in between! We were blown away with Velvet City at our daughter’s wedding. They were very accommodating during this joyous / stressful occasion and the music was amazing. We shared the song list with the types of music we would like to hear and they nailed it and were able to accommodate the different requests during the set. One of the guest said that they loved the music and kept waiting on a song that they could not play and it never came. Everyone commented on how great the band was and they really made the evening. I can’t say enough good things about Velvet City and how pleased we were with their performance. These guys did an amazing job and were extremely professional. Would not hesitate to use them again.

Nick's communication and contract were excellent, and I was impressed with Velvet City Sound's extensive set list. Our family includes musicians, both amateur and professional, so we had especially high standards. Velvet City Sound's eight-piece band was musically solid and entertaining, and they played at just the right volume. The entire band was respectful and hard-working and could not have been a better fit for our outdoor Southern wedding reception.Velvet City Sound's reply:

Couldn't be happier with VCS and couldn't recommend them enough! Nick was able to learn our first dance song and executed flawlessly. They listened to our notes and created the most perfect playlist for our guests. There wasn't a minute where majority of the guests weren't on the dance floor- no bad songs!! We hired a guitar duo/vocals from VCS to play our ceremony and cocktail hour. The entire process from start to finish was so easy and smooth. We got to request the songs we wanted to play down the aisle and they played our favorites during cocktail hour. Guests had nothing but good things to say about the music! Five stars all around for VCS! They did a FANTASTIC job at our wedding. My husband is such a picky person when it comes to music and playlists and he was satisfied and super impressed! I wished the reception had gone on longer for them to sing more songs. They were that good and everyone wanted to dance all night long! They were easy to work with and very flexible on your wants and needs. I wanted my cousin (he is a musician and only 17) to play with them during the ceremony and they worked directly with him and turned my vision into reality. They let you decide how involved you want to be with creating the playlists and songs to sing. I HIGHLY recommend them and will definitely use them in the future if we have anything that requires a band or even a small event (like a shower or bday party). They play and sing better than the bands out there who charge you double. VCS pricing is very reasonable, even with travel. They are professional and fun and just genuinely good people. If you are deciding between bands, go ahead and sign with them. You will NOT be disappointed.Velvet City Sound's reply:

I know where you are right now. I was there like 8 or 9 months ago. Such a huge decision right? I mean you want people to have fun, you want to have fun, you want great memories, yeah, its huge. But, you can stop worrying and stressing about this decision because somehow you have discovered literally one of the best wedding bands imaginable. Jenny and I were the last of our friends to get married. We have been to a butt load of weddings together. Massive weddings that cost over 100K and small ones with a piano in the corner. We have seen it all. And it was out wedding so I know we are a little biased, but our party was by far the best. There wasn't a guest with a voice at the end because we all danced and sang our freakin asses off for like 3 hours. Im telling you, this is the band you want. Nick will have several 1 on 1 conversations with you to make sure they are aligned with exactly what you want. They are so experienced in the wedding game its insane. Their talent is actually off the charts, from the guitar solos, saxophone, and keys all the way to their incredibly talented vocalists, they are dripping with talent. I assure you, if you hire them you will not be disappointed and I will go one step further, they will rock your damn face off and your reception will be talked about for weeks like ours still is. Absolutely the best there is! I came across Velvet City Sound when searching for our wedding entertainment. Boy did I hit the jackpot! They played at the ceremony, played acoustic during dinner (Which is when the compliments began rolling in from our guests). Then the band rocked during the reception. It was absolutely perfect and included an amazing version of Fire Away - Chris Stapleton. They learned our first dance song, the father daughter song, the TN fight song and so many more spur of the moment song choices. A+++. You can’t go wrong here.Velvet City Sound's reply:
