All you need in a photographer

4 years ago, My wife and I hired Urban Anchor Photography for our wedding. We were just amazed by their work and process to make things flow smoothly during our day. Looking at our photos now still brings back exciting memories to that day. I am so glad that we chose Urban Anchor Photography, and I would recommend them to anyone for any photo needs.

Great and memorable photos!

We got married at the end of October and went with Sarah at Urban Anchor as our photographer. This included engagement photos earlier in the year, and then photos on the wedding day. Sarah was extremely professional, and we felt like she knew exactly what she was doing and how to set up some amazing shots. As we were looking through her photos, we felt like she did such a great job making everyone look great and capturing some fun moments, and looking through the wedding through her lens made us feel like we were reliving all the best parts of the day! We are both super happy with how everything turned out, and we are SO thankful to Sarah for doing such a good job capturing our wedding day!

I am so glad we chose Urban Anchor for our photography. Sarah was great to work with. She responded super quickly to emails and was willing to give advice on random things that mattered to my “bride brain.”

She made our engagement session fun and it almost felt like a “date night” that was photographed (which is perfect for 2 people who have never had professional photos taken and were a bit nervous).

As for the wedding photos - I am thrilled! The weather was awful and my husband was especially disappointed we couldn’t get the outdoor photos, but when we got the images back he completely forgot about it because we loved the photos so much. She found unique spots to get creative portraits in our venue, which we will cherish forever.

Sarah captured every single moment of our day (some I didn’t even realized had happened) and it was amazing to relive them those moments through the photos. She impressed my mom (not an easy task) and my friends. And the photo turnaround time was incredible. Most importantly, I feel like the photos are so “us” - I couldn’t be happier!

Sarah and Todd were incredibly flexible and willing to work with us remotely since we were planning our wedding from out-of-state. We were upfront about what we wanted and didn't want, which ensured that we were on the same page from the start. From our first FaceTime session with them, we had the feeling that they shared our vision for our wedding photographs. A week or two before our wedding, we sent them a list of photographs we desired, and they worked with us to recommend an agenda so that we would be able to get all of the pictures in the time we had allotted. The day of the wedding, it was clear that they had actually read through our list and had a plan in their heads. They executed their plan flawlessly. We got through the photos we had on our list in way less time than we had planned for, which allowed us to get additional photographs. They photographed for 8 hours total.

We got our photos 2-3 weeks after our wedding, and we were so happy with them! Sarah and Todd captured so many candid moments of us and our guests that we would have missed or forgotten otherwise. Urban Anchor Photography is amazing!

We are so glad we hired Sarah and Todd to do our wedding photography! They were so easy to work with--responsive, personable, and professional--and their photo style really captures the feeling of the event. Sarah took our engagement photos and they turned out so beautifully, we couldn't wait to see the photos from the actual wedding. The photos we got back exceeded our expectations and we are having a hard time deciding which ones to print, they are all so wonderful! We would highly recommend working Urban Anchor!

Sarah was great to work with for my wedding reception. I wanted clean, candid photos and that's exactly what she delivered. She was easy-going and made us feel comfortable on the other side of the lens. I would most certainly recommend Sarah and Urban Anchor photography to capture your special day.

Sarah and Todd were incredible to work with and captured our day perfectly! We have so many pictures, both candid and posed, it has been pretty difficult deciding which ones we want to print and frame. They welcome your ideas and have plenty of their own for great shots in case you're not sure what you want. We're so happy we got to work with such a fun, talented pair!

We recently worked with Sarah and Todd of Urban Anchor Photography for our engagement and wedding photos and couldn't be happier! We had done lots of research on photographers, but instantly felt at ease with Sarah and Todd after our initial FaceTime call. It was great to see them in person and they answered every question we had. We knew right away we had to book these two fast! Our engagement session was wonderful, Sarah traveled to Chicago and took some really amazing shots! We were nervous at first since we've never had a photo shoot, but Sarah made us feel comfortable and kept us laughing all day!

On our wedding day they both made us feel very comfortable all day, even our bridal party was impressed with how great they were! They really make you feel like you've been friends for years!

Not only were they an absolutely pleasure to work with, our pictures turned out fantastic! The colors are awesome, the shots are artsy, not posed. We received several compliments on our photos from our friends and family. If you are debating between photographers like we were, look no further, you would be in great hands with Sarah and Todd!! We'd give them 10 stars if we could!

I am so happy we went with Urban Anchor Photography! We did the full day package with both Todd and Sarah, which is a little pricey, but I think well worth it. It was so nice to have them around all day to capture the full experience. Our pictures are beautiful. I do wish we'd gotten a bit more guidance on how to pose for the engagement photos because I feel like I'm making a weird face in a lot of them, but it was also FRIGID that day, so it probably couldn't be helped!

Yes, everyone has a smartphone camera, but nothing beats the quality and artistry of a true photographer, and Sarah was the best. True to her promise she captured "us". And our friends and family in many natural and artistically beautiful set-ups were fun and emotional. Appreciated her pre-wedding walk-through of our site so that on the day it was already scripted and easy. In the end, she edited and gave us a web portal where our friends and family could order prints, and we got the entire collection on a memory stick too in a sweet little gift box with her personal note. Highly recommend Urban Anchor!

Other than choosing who to marry, choosing Urban Anchor Photography was the best wedding decision I made. Sarah was super professional, patient, and prompt. In addition to that, our photos turned out AMAZING!

Todd and Sarah of Urban Anchor Photography were truly the easiest of all of the wedding vendors that we worked with for our Fourth of July wedding. They were extremely flexible in working for us on a major holiday and traveling an hour and a half to where we were married. They were professional yet kept the process fun and enjoyable. We couldn't have asked for better wedding photographers. The quantity of photos were more than plentiful and the quality was top notch. The whole package was affordable and comparable to competitors and well worth the lifelong memories!

I hired Sarah & Todd for our upcoming wedding this summer, and they have been nothing but great to work with! Sarah shot our engagement photos and they turned out absolutely beautiful. I have no doubt our wedding photos will turn out just as perfect.

I wish I could give Todd and Sarah more than a 5 star review. They are AMAZING! With so many options now a days for a photographer, you may find it difficult to choose. If Urban Anchor Photography are available on your wedding day...book them...hands down! Booking a photographer was more important than even our wedding venue itself. For us to stand behind Todd and Sarah as much as we do really means a lot.
My husband and I can not say enough good things about them. They were so easy to work with from the time we showed interest in hiring them, to our engagement photos, and everything leading up to our wedding day. Sarah always got back to us right away with any questions we had and we received all our wedding photos (over 1000!) in a timely manner!
Todd and Sarah blended in more like guests at our wedding than a hired vendor. No one was distracted by someone "taking pictures" and taking away from what was really going on. We received so many compliments on their professionalism and friendliness. I had many people, on many occasions, tell me they have the best work they have ever seen.
Todd and Sarah are amazing photographers and even more amazing people. They really listen to what YOU want and give you those memories that last forever.

We absolutely loved working with Sarah and Todd from Urban Anchor Photography. We had seen their work online and really liked their style, but that was just the beginning of an incredible experience.

We met with Sarah and Todd before the wedding to talk about details, and they immediately put us at ease. It was clear from the very beginning that they knew what they were doing, and their friendly but confident demeanor made us feel very comfortable.

We weren't sure what to expect on wedding day - both my husband and I were nervous that we would feel awkward with two photographers following us around all day - but that wasn't the case at all. Sarah and Todd struck the perfect balance of being present while not being imposing. We often forgot they were even there as we got lost in moments of just being 'us.'

When it came time to do the 'organized' shots with family, the wedding party, etc, they were completely in control without being demanding. They were incredibly efficient, like a well-oiled machine, and we were able to get through the photos quickly, while still having a lot of fun. They has us laughing all day and it was really fun to watch them get creative and interact with everyone involved. Everyone really loved both Sarah and Todd; we have had several people from the wedding party comment about how incredible they were to work with, and how at ease they made each of us feel.

If all of that wasn't enough, the photos are beyond perfect! They did an indescribably amazing job at capturing our personalities, the unique aspects of our wedding, and our love.

We loved everything about our experience with Urban Anchor Photography!

This duo is PHENOMENAL! We wanted to find photographers who would capture our whole day (family, friends, laughs, eats), in addition to the more traditional "posed" shots. They fell right into step with our families' quirkiness, and were able to keep pace with our friends' shenanigans. Sarah and her husband were very professional. They were very flexible and easy to work with. We loved their photos because it was very modern and it was something we were looking for. Urban Anchor was great to work with, and we are thoroughly impressed with the style and quality of our images. Our images capture the mood of the day perfectly, and allow us to see that our guests seemed to enjoy the day as much as we did. We weren't required to spend an exorbitant amount of time posing for pre-planned pictures like one would expect. We were instead allowed to enjoy the time with our friends and family with minimal interruption. It was also nice that we were able to be a part of the planning, and that we could present our own ideas without pushback. It really helped to make us feel connected to the process, which made the day even more special. I can't recommend this company enough, and will continue to use them for all of our photography needs for our family.

I couldn't have asked for more! Not only is Urban Anchor Photography great value, but the photos are superior. We set up a schedule ahead of time and she was very flexible when I was running an hour late from the salon. I would highly recommend this photographer to anyone who is getting married in the area.

Sarah was an awesome photographer. She made our day so stress free and captured all of the special moments. I was thrilled with our photos! Outstanding duo of photographers; somehow Sarah and Todd nonintrusively got a few hundred photos of all the best moments of the day. And they all look like something out of a fantasy picturebook. These people have a very special touch and you won't regret hiring them. We certainly don't.

To me, the most important vendor in a wedding is the photographer. Photographs last a lifetime, so selecting the right photographer to capture the special moments of our wedding day was crucial. My husband and I did a lot of research to find a photographer in the Madison area. Everything that turned up about Sarah and SLM Photography was positive; we appreciated the feedback and reviews from past and present clients. In our experience, Sarah is very professional and besides that she is great to work with. After we saw a collection of her photographs at our meet and greet, we knew she was the one who was going to bring out the best in our wedding! She has a very creative way of capturing the beauty of a single moment. She took both our engagement and wedding pictures and we loved every minute of it, the time for both sessions went by so fast. Sarah made my husband and I feel so comfortable, it was like we had known her for years. Her husband, Todd, joined in as a second photographer for our wedding pictures and that was so cool! We did a pre wedding shoot around downtown Madison and a post wedding shoot at the Olbrich Botanical Gardens, where our wedding was held. Both shoots were effortless with Sarah and Todd! The moments they captured of us and all the little details of our wedding day were extraordinary - straight from a magazine! And now with all of the photos in front of me, I am so thankful we choose Sarah to capture all of those moments! They are memories that will last a lifetime! I want to thank Sarah and Todd for making our wedding day wonderful! We wish we had more time to take pictures, we could have spent all day with them! I would recommend any bride who is getting married in the Madison area to contact Sarah - she won't disappoint.

Sarah and her husband, Todd, were fantastic. Sarah is the head photographer and Todd is starting to make some of the rounds with her. She is so easy to work with and truly affordable for how much she goes above and beyond. We had our photos immediately on a laptop during the ceremony. She makes a fantastic website that's so easy to share with friends and family. But of course I haven't even talked about the shots themselves - they are so fun and they really capture the day. We couldn't be more pleased with SLM Photography and would recommend her to anyone!

After researching countless photographers to use for our engagement and wedding pictures, we knew we had found what we were looking for when coming across SLM Photography's webpage. We not only found Sarah's work to be creative, but very affordable. Sarah impressed us with her eye for creative shots and her ability to capture those special moments in a way that we would one day be able to look back on each photo and relive all the love, laughter, and happiness that took place during this special time in our lives. We had a fantastic experience with Sarah of SLM from the start. She was very accessible and personable at our first meeting and didn't give off any of the fake, cold, cookie-cutter vibe that we got at some other studios. Looking through her portfolios, we saw that she has an amazing eye that was exactly the style (fun angles and textures) that we were looking for. She talked with us enthusiastically about ideas for the wedding, and even arranged to include a medium that she usually doesn't work with as a special request, which showed us that she really loves what she does. Our engagement photo session was a great way to see her personality as a photographer and we were very impressed by the way she got our awkward bumbling selves to look stellar without us feeling weird or forced. The wedding shots turned out even better, and she was more than happy to run all over town to get them. She also did a lovely job herding our families to get all of our last minute requests. Additionally, she got our photos to us about weeks after the wedding, which was amazing. In short, she has the full range in style (artsy to candid to traditional) and direction (dictating poses or fading to the background as needed). Honestly, I cannot imagine a better experience with a photographer, and we were so happy that she was recommended to us.

Sarah did both our engagement and wedding photos and we have had nothing but positive comments from friends and family. She was with us the whole day of the wedding and was sure to get the important photos without interfering in the ceremony/reception. I found her through a friends recommendation and have recommended her to other friends who are getting married

We absolutely loved the photos that Sarah did for us. She did a fantastic job getting some very unique angles without us even noticing her. She responded to all requests in a timely manner and was very in tune with our specific requests. The album she provided was very professionally done, and we couldn't be more happy!

We used Sarah for your wedding Friday, July 15, 2011. She did an great job. Before we even had our reception she did a great job with communicating with me and being very thorough about what our expectations were as well as hers, when and where to be, the timeline, etc. She wasnt afraid to give us suggestions for photos. She made me feel very comfortable about the photography process at a very chaotic time. During the reception she did a good job of staying out of the way but giving direction to a crowd for the photos. She has been very professional throughout this entire process. I just recently viewed our pictures and I love them...... and to top it all off she's very affordable.

My husband and I knew from the moment we first met with Sarah that we wanted her as our photographer. Her eye for capturing special moments is superb and we had a lot of fun during our photo sessions. Sarah offers the perfect package for wedding photography! Sarah's eye for architecture and elegance made every photo a masterpiece. She offers very reasonably priced packages, and superb service.
Sarah's laid back attitude and stealthy speed helped capture the most memorable moments of our wedding day. Many of our guests have commented that they had no idea she was even there until they saw the flash of the camera.
We couldn't have asked for anything better! Sarah is a "must have" photographer!

Sarah is a wonderful photagrapher. I first met her last summer when I was in my cousins wedding party, and loved her personality as well as her photography skills. I booked her for my own wedding which was this summer. She captured all the important moments and many more including candid shots of all of our guests, and has a very artistic style! My family and friends all LOVE the photos, and so do we!

Sarah and Todd were wonderful in every respect. They made the day easier which meant a lot to us. Our photos turned out wonderful and while I was there the whole day, the photo story that was created fills in a lot of blanks and allows me to step outside the event. It is truly a good way to relive the day. I really admire the two skill sets that Urban Anchor represents. Todd's photojournalistic style captured the day and the events in full effect. Sarah's arts background brought fresh perspective to capturing the place, people and things. As well, the personal touches given to the delivery of images following the wedding were handled impeccably. The value of getting these two photographers who work well together is well worth the monetary value you spend.

Sarah's photography services were great, she really took the time to get to know us as a couple to understand what we wanted in our wedding pictures. We looked all over Madison and her prices/packages were the best value! I would highly recommend her to anyone that is getting married!
