Best Experience for Maternity/Newborn Photos

As first-time parents, we used Upasana for our maternity and newborn photos and we couldn't recommend her more! She always responded quickly, offered advice for clothing and location choices, and made outdoor options available for COVID safety. She also never made us feel rushed during the shoots and was very patient with a slightly fussy newborn. Plus, the photos came out beautifully! Definitely would suggest Upasana to anyone looking to capture this special time.

Upasana Captured Every Detail Perfectly!

Our experience with Upasana was amazing. She is so talented and so much fun to work with. Prior to our wedding day, we did an engagement shoot in Central Park where we were able to get to know her and start to understand what an amazing eye she has. She knew every angle and paid attention to every detail and we are so appreciative and thankful for the beautiful photos we received. Leading up to the wedding, she was so responsive and answered our questions quickly and thoroughly. We can honestly say that because of Upasana and her team, our wedding day was more fun and went smoothly and on schedule. She is so poised, professional, and sweet and made sure to capture the photos we wanted and then more while navigating the culture, family, and traditions around an Indian fusion wedding with such grace. She delivered our preview quickly and we are floored and in awe by how beautiful the photos are. She captured every detail, tradition, and emotion so perfectly and I can’t stop looking at them and will treasure the memories that she was able to capture forever. Our wedding party and coordinator have all been raving about what a pleasure it was to work with Upasana and her team and of course about how beautiful the photos are. We are so beyond thankful that Upasana was there to capture our big day and would recommend her without hesitation.

Upasana was absolutely phenomenal. She was recommended to me by a friend and I immediately fell in love with her photos and style. From our first meeting, I instantly felt more like friends than a photographer-bride.

My 400+ wedding (Turkish - Uzbek wedding) had a lot of cultural parts to it and she captured it so well. She caught so many great shots and I barely remember seeing her the whole night! She did a fantastic job.

My entire wedding party and family could not stop complimenting her work from the beginning of the day until the very end. We were so lucky to have her. Her main goal is to create a beautiful day; not to earn a paycheck - you can tell how passionate she is about her work.

Please book her ASAP - you won't regret it!!!!

We loved every thing about our NY wedding, esp our photographer. We picked her from online reviews, journals, and pictures posted from her previous weddings. We did not meet her until the day of the Wedding, since we live in Alabama. We immediately fell in love with her professionalism, flexibility, and warming personality. She always made us feel comfortable when taking pictures. Our end results were beyond amazing, extremely detailed, and more than we ever imagined possible. Would recommend her to anyone.

We hired Upa on our wedding in September 2017 - we met with her several times prior to the wedding to discuss what we wanted and just to make sure we would get on at a personal level. Upa is very easy to work with & accommodating, we were very pleased with her photo's and the way she interacted with us during the wedding itself. We also ended up getting some engagement photo's through her and recently got our wedding pics back in a timely manner. Very pleased with her service!

Hiring Upasana as our wedding photographer was one of the best decisions we made during our planning process. She was a true professional and an absolute pleasure to work with. We had a very tight timeline during our wedding day, and Upasana was able to wrangle our large families and take truly beautiful photos. She also is masterful at taking beautiful candid shots. Upasana helped us with our wedding day timeline giving us advice as to how long certain things would take. She was also prompt the day of our wedding, and was very quick to produce our online gallery. I can't recommend her enough!

We came across Upasana’s pictures on Instagram and really liked her style of photos, and we’re glad that she shot our engagement and wedding photos. She was very easy to work with, accommodating, and friendly. The final quality of the photos were just like what we saw in her portfolio and what we had hoped for / expected. Upasana did the engagement shoot and wedding photography for my Trenton Country Club wedding held back in April. I just received all of the wedding photos back yesterday and I cannot stop looking at them! She was extremely flexible and went with the flow when necessary, rearranging the schedule when one of my bridesmaids was late. She wanted to make sure we got the best photos possible and did a fantastic job editing them. Thank you so much Upasana!

We booked Upasana for our engagement photos. Not only are the pictures fantastic, but we had a lot of fun during the shoot as well. We felt very comfortable with Upasana from the moment we met her -- she is easy going, adaptable and professional. I love the look of our pictures, which can be described as artistic and natural. In addition to the photos, Upasana handled all the business aspects of the shoot expertly. For example, she responded to my numerous emails promptly, she provided us with our final pictures in a timely fashion (early actually!) and she was flexible in arranging the location/start time. All in all, we were very pleased and would utilize Upasana again.

Upasana shot our engagement in NYC last December and wedding in Houston this summer. Upasana is by far our favorite vendor that we worked with in our entire wedding. We trusted her 100% from the moment we met her during our engagement shoot and we knew we could rely on her for anything and everything we needed. She is super sweet and organized, very responsive and quick with emails. She answered all our questions with lot of details whether they were about photography or anything related to wedding planning and choosing other vendors. Most importantly, she takes gorgeous pictures using natural light and any surrounding thats available to her. She made us very comfortable in front of the camera and we know its not an easy job. She was also very patient with our friends and family. We have received so many compliments from everyone on the quality of the photos she delivered and how gorgeous everyone looks. Upasana was an absolute joy to work with. Choosing her for photography was the best investment I made for our wedding. I felt like I was working with a close friend throughout the entire planning process. From the engagement session, to the wedding day, to when we received our photos back after the wedding, Upasana made the experience so special and memorable. My husband and I were nervous and awkward in front of the camera at first (we're not big picture takers), but Upasana knew how to make us feel comfortable and natural within just a few minutes of our engagement shoot.

One of the most memorable moments was when my family and I were getting ready the day of the wedding and my sister-in-law ripped her bridesmaid dress from the middle of her back to her knee (yes, really!). Upasana managed to keep my focus on taking getting ready photos and kept me calm the entire day. She and her second shooter Karthik were true professionals - they were great at managing all of the shots we wanted and were not intrusive at all. They captured our wedding day perfectly, and our photos turned out so beautiful. I would recommend Upasana to anyone looking for photography services for any event, big or small!

We got our wedding pictures back yesterday and we can't stop looking at them! Our wedding pictures could not be more beautiful, breathtaking, and perfect. Upasana's fun, creative, warm, and kind personality made working with her an absolute joy! Upa is extremely talented and was able to capture all of our special moments with perfect lighting, beautiful backgrounds, and stunning detail. Upa captured so much emotion in our pictures while making sure we were comfortable in front of the camera. She ran, squatted, kneeled, and climbed rocks to ensure we got wedding pictures that we can't take our eyes off of and wedding pictures that we will never stop getting compliments on! Upa made our special day even more special and we can't thank her enough! We absolutely LOVE our wedding pictures and LOVED working with her!

My wife and I married in September 2015 at Brotherhood Winery, New York and Upasana Mainali was our chosen photographer for the big day.

Prior to our ceremony and reception, we had hired a large house close to the venue to accommodate our wedding parties. Upasana and her colleague arrived promptly to begin scouting for photo shoot locations ahead of time, as well as take beautiful, distinctive shots of the dress, rings, heirlooms and more - one shot of our rings in particular was a real highlight!

As we started getting ready, she managed to find a perfect balance between staged and natural shots, taking the time to talk to those involved with the wedding and making sure everyone felt relaxed and at home in front of the camera - something that was strikingly obvious in the amazing set of photos we received.

During the evening ceremony and celebration, Upasana's phenomenal talent really came to the fore with some truly fantastic images of us at sunset, some exceptional location shots in the Winery cellars, and some great natural photos of our friends and family enjoying themselves on what was an incredible day.

Upasana's service was first class. Her warmth of personality and a special gift for putting even the most uncomfortable people (such as myself!) at ease in front of the camera ensured we had a set of wedding photos that were everything we hoped they would be, and more.

5 stars, without hesitation.

Upasana has been a wonderful photographer to work with. She did both my engagement photos and wedding photos in NJ and all of her pictures came out wonderful. We could not have asked for anything better. Her prices are very reasonable, and she is very professional in both taking photos of her clients and her work.

Engagement photos: She did a wonderful job in scoping out places to take the best photos.
Wedding: She does have a second shooter for all the moments one person can not get. Within her package, she just keeps taking photos.

Upasana photographed my secret proposal. I took my fiance to a quiet spot along the East River where Upasana was waiting to capture the moment. Directly following the proposal, she took photographs at a surprise engagement party I had planned. The whole evening was magical and Upasana did an amazing job to capture the emotion and excitement of it all. After the event, a first set of photographs were made available to us promptly followed by the entire set on schedule a couple weeks later. I'm so thankful that we have these memories forever saved in the beautiful photographs Upasana took!

I would like to start by saying that Upasana's wedding photography is amazing. Our wedding was in December and it wasn't easy to find beautiful setting to shoot. On top of that my wife and I were running late on schedule on our wedding day. Even on a hectic day, she was clam, professional, and able to guide us though the photo shoot before the wedding. We love the story telling style of photography that she took during our wedding day. We were especially impressed with the outdoor shooting during cold winter and she was able to find beautiful nature background for us. Every picture came out perfect for us which she was able capture our joyous moments of our lives. She did a wonderful job with post processing of our wedding pictures and we only had to wait a few weeks which we didn't mind. We would definitely use her service again for our next special occasion.

We were looking for a photographer for the ceremony and post-ceremony photo shoot only, which was held in Central Park at the end of December 2014. Upasana was easy to work with, she responded quickly and catered to our taste. Her prices were reasonable, which was crucial since we were on a tight budget.

It just happened to be a very sunny, spring-like day, which was great because my bridal party and I were all in strapless gowns, so we had little need for our wraps. Upasana was waiting for me at the entrance to the park when I arrived and even had an assistant photographer with her. She captured all the right moments.

She conducted the photo shoot well and knew exactly where to go and the quickest way to get there, which was important since the park was fully packed with people due to the gorgeous sunny weather.

She has a great eye and a good memory of the types of shots that I had in mind. She posted about 15 shots on her blog within the week and I was able to download all the photos that she prepared within 3 weeks. I had requested them all in color and she obliged.

I posted them on Facebook and my friends loved the shots. There were some candid shots that wee so perfect and I hadn't even realized she was there at those moments. I really enjoyed having her and we're so glad we hired her.

My husband and I visited New York to celebrate our 10 year Anniversary. Not knowing anyone who could recommend a photographer, I lucked out finding Upasana on my own. She was quick to respond to my inquiry and helped me plan a photo shoot in a few short weeks. I enjoyed the hour and a half with her during the shoot. She made us very comfortable while she worked her magic. It was a great experience and we are so glad we have wonderful photos to commemorate our anniversary, I would certainly request her services again.

Upasana photographed my daughter's first birthday party at Jane's carousel in Brooklyn and she did a wonderful job! She was warm, professional and most importantly took gorgeous photos! She captured all of the little details as well as took fantastic family portraits that I will cherish forever. I loved working with Upsana and look forward to working with her again in the future. Upasana is amazing, she has an eye that captures beautiful natural pictures. Her storytelling approach captured our special moments, the emotions, and the details of our wedding day. Upasana takes out any awkwardness of “posed” pictures and puts the real you in front of the camera. She is professional –quick in responding emails, diligent by going to the locations days before to test the lighting, and best above all…. her turnaround for delivering the photos are a few days. Our family and friends loved the hundreds of pictures she gave us on a private site where you can download or order prints.
I did extensive research when selecting a photographer and choosing Upasana was the best decision of our wedding planning process. I highly recommend Upasana as your wedding photographer!

Upasana provided us with a wonderful service. This was our first photoshoot experience, and she was sure to make it a special and fun one. To begin, her response times from e-mails, to providing the pictures was spectacular. We had our beautiful images within a day and a half! She was maticulous and took pride in our shoot, she even went to view the location a day prior to our shoot to ensure she knew the landscape and could take the beat photos. She greeted us with a smile and was friendly and upbeat throughout. I myself was quite nervous and Upasana made it comfortable, providing us with positive feedback, which made us relax. Another great thing was that she was considerate and open minded to our requests. She allowed us the opportunity to share what we wanted and she was open to trying things we wanted to try. She had a great eye and took some beautiful shots in the limited time we had available and some not so great weather. We were very satisfied and appreciate her hard work. We've had the pleasure of working with Upasana twice, and have been so pleased with the results both times. The first was a family shoot in the park and the second was our son's birthday. Communication was prompt and clear beforehand and she is always so easy going during the actual shoots. We had some ideas for both shoots, and she went right along with all our suggestions. Upasana Mainali Photography

We got Married at the Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club September 9, 2023 and after an exhaustive search, we decided to use Upasana Mainali for the occasion. I could not be happier with the outcome. Upa and her team were incredibly professional, easy to work with, and willing to go the extra mile for what we wanted. I always felt that my wants and needs were being addressed, and Upa made some amazing suggestions for our photographs, that made everything even better than I had imagined it could be. We had over 200 people at the wedding, and Upa and her team seemed to be everywhere all at once in the best way. She never felt intrusive, but I was always confident that she was getting the shot. Upa has a warmth and calmness that was very necessary on the big day and she did an excellent job of wrangling everyone when they needed to be corralled for the family photos that I wanted. Her eye for editorial style photos is amazing. Upa was always available to discuss our vision, and I would recommend her with zero hesitation. I have already recommended her to friends, and I will use Upa for any and all events that I host in the future. Thank you!!!

Upasana was wonderful to work with for our Engagement shoot! She is very easy going and made being in front of the camera easy. She does her best to not pose you and let the couple show off their natural selves. We brought our puppy along for some pictures and she was great with him capturing a few really handsome photos of him! We had such a tough time decide what pictures to use for our Save the Dates because we loved them all.
