Best cake anyone at my wedding has ever had

My guests as well as my husband and I were all floored by how yummy and moist the cake was. They were also so accommodating and friendly (I asked them to make my cake very last minute). Highly recommend.

Bridal Shower Cake

Ms. Marilyn was amazing to work with for my sister's bridal shower cake. She is so talented and artistic and went above and beyond my vision for a bridal shower cake. We were able to have specific requests for each layer of the cake and both layers were so delicious! It was such an amazing centerpiece that everyone was ohhing and ahhing over! Absolutely AMAZING!!

This company is a pleasure to work with. We started off doing a very cute little tasting allowing us to choose our favorite combo. There was never any issue through out the whole process. Our cake turned out perfect and tasted delicious!

Joe and Marilyn were awesome to work with and super flexible with delivery. The cakes ordered for my Naval Academy Reunion were beautifully designed and decorated almost to the point that nobody wanted to eat them...almost. The taste was as exquisite as the way they looked superb! I would highly recommend Unique Cakes for your wedding, reunion or family get together.

These cakes are amazing! Not only do they look beautiful the taste is phenomenal! The business is ran by this darling husband and wife team, they made my fiance and I feel right at home staring at cake tasting. I cannot wait for our wedding cake I know it's going to be delicious!

Marilyn and her husband were awesome to work with! First we started off with our own private tasting. We picked the flavors, fillings and icings prior. Their individualized approach to wedding cakes made the decision to use Unique Cakes so easy! They were SUPER flexible with the design of the cake. My husband and I completely changed what we wanted just a few weeks prior to the wedding. When we saw the cake at the reception, it was exactly what we had wanted. I could go on and on about the cakes! Because Marilyn makes everything from scratch, literally every flavor and icing was perfect! The cake was gone before we knew it! I also had Marilyn bake us a dozen gluten free cupcakes for our guests with dietary restrictions! They didn't even taste like they were gluten free! Our guests were SO impressed! I would definitely recommend using Unique Cakes!

Marilyn and her husband are a dream team that created the perfect wedding cake for my husband and I. We wanted a unique cake and that is what we received! A stack of our favorite books! Our guests were even tricked into believing that's what they were. The cake is delicious and Marilyn uses fondant sparingly. She also made two cupcakes for me that were gluten, dairy, and sugar free for two of my guests that cannot have those things and they were still delicious! I highly recommend Unique Cakes.

From the first phone call Marilyn was super helpful. We had a wonderful tasting with my parents, step kids, and husband. The tasting was all about what we wanted and Marilyn photographed the whole thing. On the night of our wedding she provided us with a dvd of the photos taken at the tasting. Marilyn was very flexible. There was a mix up on our wedding date and she made sure she was still available on the correct date! The price of the cake was also very reasonable. The cake was absolutely stunning and delicious. The guests at the wedding even said they enjoyed the cake. We would recommend them to anyone!

We hired Unique Cakes/Marilyn to bake our wedding cake for our July wedding and are so glad we did! We learned of Unique Cakes from our wedding venue and loved working with them instead of a large bakery that churns out multiple cakes a day - Marilyn only takes one wedding a weekend. She accommodated two tastings for us (an initial one with my mom and me, and a second so my fiance and I could select the cake flavors) which are held in her home, and it was such a fun, laid-back, and easy process.

Before our cake tasting, I was on the fence about having wedding cake as the only dessert option during the reception, but as soon as I tasted the cake samples, I changed my mind. We ended up ordering enough wedding cake for all of our guests and planned a wedding cake bar featuring three different flavors. I know a lot of people think of wedding cake as bland, dry, and unflavorful, but Marilyn's cake is anything but. If every wedding served Marilyn's cake, no one would have a bad word to say about wedding cake! I wish there had been more leftover cake after the wedding so we could have enjoyed it even longer.

We had a very simple cake design (four tiers with buttercream frosting, decorated with a few peonies on top) but Marilyn can absolutely accommodate theme cakes or those with intricate details or unique designs. She's an amazing cake artist. You should definitely hire Marilyn to make the wedding cake of your dreams!

Marilyn did an amazing job. We could not decide on one cake so she made us two. One was a white wedding cake and the other was a tree cake with models of us to represent our Save the Date picture. Both of them turned out great. Her cakes truly are unique and custom and yet her prices are very competitive and reasonable for the DC area. She is also very prompt for the set-up time. Her attention to detail in her work really shows and really appreciated it. All of our wedding guests were taking pictures of both of the cakes because they had never seen any like them before.

I highly reccomend unique cakes. Marilyn did an absolutely wonderful job on my wedding cake and it was to die for delious! A Big hit at the wedding im still hereing people comment about it. Marilyn takes the time to make your cake perfect. When we sat down at the cake tasting and went over how i wanted the cake to look i knew it was going to look great but the day of the wedding when i finally saw the cake it was even better than i imagined. Im so thankful for such a beautiful cake it just completed my perfect day. Marilyn takes care of everything so you dont have to stress about the cake. I cant wait to get our anniversary cake!

This cake was more than I could have dreamed of, actually she did dream it up for me. I really had a small idea of what I wanted but she always made me feel like she knew what that was and how to make it perfect! It went with my theme, and so many people commented on how great it tasted! We have even used her for other cakes. We had one made with the same flavors as wedding cake for out 1 year anniv. of buying our home because we couldn't wait till wedding to have it again. Beautiful work and would come back again for other events

Our wedding cake was by far the best cake I've ever had. She was one of the best vendors we hired and we were looking forward to the cake during the entire planning process. We went with pistachio and an amaretti buttercream for half the layers and a white velvet cake with raspberry filling for the other half. Everyone loved it! The pistachio was our favorite and we can't wait to get the complimentary anniversary tier! Absolutely amazing. They made the cake tasting very personal and took the photos of cake design ideas I sent and made my vision come true even better than I could have imagined. Thank you!!!

Working with Marilyn at Unique Cakes was an absolute pleasure. Marilyn is so incredibly talented. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and it was better than I could have expected! Not only was the cake gorgeous, it tasted so fresh and everyone was raving about it!

The entire process was so fun and the customer service she provided was very personal. We where invited for the tasting you can see her amazing work, experience several tasting options, and they even photograph the tasting experience which is very special. We invited my parents and it was so fun to include them. She brought the cake to venue on the day of and placed is beautifully. After the wedding, you have an option to have a "anniversary" tier so you get a fresh small cake, just like the one on your wedding day, a year later. I think that is such a nice touch especially since we already ate the top :)

She is incredibly talented and while we didn't have a "grooms cake", I`m sure it would have been spectacular. The work she has on display was so detailed.

We had such a great experience with Marilyn and I would recommend her to anyone who is planning an event that requires a beautiful and delicious cake!

From the elegantly put together tasting event to the final creation, I would recommend Unique Cakes to anyone and everyone. In fact I did at my wedding! Probably the best wedding cake I've ever had HANDS DOWN! The most impressive part about Marilyn was that she broke her ribs 5 days before our wedding and instead of telling us we had to find someone else, she made the most amazing groom's cake and wedding cake! I cannot thank her enough for pulling through for us!

We found Marilyn at a bridal show at Morais Vineyards (where we got married) and were really impressed by the samples she had, particularly the pistachio cake, so we scheduled a tasting with her. The tasting was very nice. She let us select 3 types of cake and 3 types of frosting/filling. Instead of putting the cakes together so we could only try 3 cakes, she served the cake and the frosting separately so we could mix and match to figure out what we liked. We tried the chocolate, white velvet, and pound cake. She was very flexible with the flavors and allowed us to select 3 different flavor combinations for our cake. We ended up going with pistachio with vanilla buttercreme, white velvet with strawberry frosting, and white velvet with chocolate frosting. During the tasting, she also took pictures and gave us a disc of the photos when we picked up the cake. She can also execute about any cake you show her. I showed her a picture from pinterest and our cake turned out beautifully! My favorite part about Unique Cakes was that they give you a coupon for an anniversary tier one year later so you don't have to freeze your top tier, which I always thought was a bit gross because of the bacteria that builds up on a 1 year old cake.

I loved her cake so much, I also ended up ordering the groom's cake from her. I got a chocolate cake with a sugar picture of Megatron printed on top (my husband's last name is Tran and he likes to refer to himself as Megatran). It was absolutely delicious and looked awesome! I would highly recommend Unique Cakes by Marilyn to anyone for any event!

My husband is a fire fighter and I wanted a special cake topper that was hand made by Unique Cakes from a picture that we had provided. The presentation of the cake was amazing, and we had nothing but positive compliments from the guest for the looks and the taste of the cake. The genuine service that was provided from Unique Cakes from the first initial contact through the day of the wedding was 100% customer service, I would highly recommend their services and the only regret I have is not asking for them to leave business cards for our guest to have their info.

Marilyn. Is. Amazing. And her cake equally so! I have never had cake that tasted and looked so good. My father has been in the wedding business for 30+ years, and has tasted hundreds, if not thousands, of wedding cakes and he thought that by far Marilyn's was the best. She was easy to work with, responded quickly to emails, and overall provided a wonderful experience! I would recommend her to anyone. We're still enjoying some of the leftovers and savoring every bit. Thank you Marilyn, for making our day that much more special!

Could not be happier!

We used Unique Cakes for our wedding cake for 160 guests. It was custom made to our design and we couldn't have been happier! it was NOT an easy design either and they did a fantastic job.

Marilyn and her husband work as a team and were great from the day we went for the tasting to the day they delivered it to our wedding venue! e mails were replied to instantly, any amendments etc were accepted without any problems, really was a pleasure to deal with them. Just wish i could have more events so we can have more!

All of our guests commented that the cake tasted great, we brought some back with us to the house after the wedding and we were going to put it in the freezer however it didn't last long enough!!

Would not hesitate at using them again.

Marilyn makes amazing cakes. I am extremely picky about cakes and desserts. My mom has always made all my cakes. My husband and I went to the tasting and were very impressed. The cake was sooo delicious. We could not decide on a flavor, so we made each tier a different flavor. Marilyn was happy to do that at no extra charge. My wedding guests loved the cake. Several people ate multiple pieces! Marilyn and her husband make a great team. I would eat her cake everyday if I could.

Marilyn is very talented. I had two cakes one being a grooms cake which I told her my vision and she made it come alive. my wedding cake was also beautiful. that was just the outside. The cake was amazing. I still get complments on my cake two months after my wedding people tell me that my wedding cake was the best cake they have ever had. She was sweet and very kind and fun to work with and as a bride she didnt make me worry about a thing and it was one less stress off my plate. 5 starts from cake tasting to wedding day no one will ever do any of my cakes from now on but her.

Unique Cakes provided the PERFECT cake for our wedding. Not only was the cake gorgeous, but it was the best cake we've ever had! We got to have our own cake tasting, and it was almost impossible to choose a flavor. If you're looking for a perfect cake for any occasion, use Unique Cakes!

Marilyn is amazing!! I wanted a very specific cake, damask, and I didn't want fondant. I wanted multiple flavors, I wanted a take that tasted delicious and didn't cost more than my dress. Marilyn delivered on all points.

1. She did a naked tasting of several types of frosting, cakes and fillings and let US decided what tasted great, only adding her option when asked.
2. She didn't charge me extram money for having different cake flavors
3. She added the flower to the cake *I provided them
4. She hand painted the most gorgeous damask cake. I have a photo of myself look at it and OMG!!
5. THE CAKE WAS DELICIOUS!! people remember how great it was 2 years later!
6. She recreated the top tier of our cake for a nominal fee on our one year anniversary and it looked exactly like our cake.

Ladies and Gents...this is the woman you want to make the cake for your special day. She is an artist and it shows. No she doesn't own an actual bakery, she does it out of her house and it's great cause you feel so at home there. She cares about your big day, and it shows!! So many things went wrong or not according to planned on that day, but my cake was not one of them!

Unique cakes are just that....Unique! Marilyn is very talented and very open to what you want in and on your cake. She can do just about anything you want for your cake. We got MANY compliments on the look and mostly the taste of the wedding cake and how moist it was etc. I would highly recommend Unique Cakes!

Marilyn created a beautiful cake for our wedding! I absolutely loved the taste and design of the cake, and Marilyn was wonderful to work with - detailed and responsive. I wasn't sure what I wanted as the cake topper, so she designed this beautiful cursive monogram cake topper out of solid sugar. Plus, she made the best cake I've ever had! Our guests ate every last crumb of it. And the cake tasting experience was divine - so many delicious flavors, rich and creative. Thanks for everything, Marilyn!
